Yelp
I'm a local and here's my review: The good: really nice fun pool ambiance, very pretty dining area, nice intentions with hot tub as well, idea for allowing access to health club and such. The room was clean. I was very happy to give myself a much needed sun soak for my birthday, and why i give three stars!
Feedback that needs attention about this place: There is no info in the room about health club schedules/ classes ( i believe pre covid there was a morning yoga in the water class that was advertised in the room so i could get out and do it. I didn't feel like calling the front desk once again to also have to ask that question as they seem annoyed and many times i could not even get them to answer the phone. There is one of those links to their website on this little flyer, but i have signed up for the email list multiple times and everytime you look on the website you are accosted with constant popups to join email list. And there is no real info on what and how you can take advantage of benefits here, like at health club. To be called a resort, it needs much more "service" and one would expect that since it is more expensive than there sister property, the sandman, which actually includes a free breakfast, but Flamingo does not. I assumed i could order a drink charged to my room and i had to go back to my room to get my wallet because I'd assumed wrong. The pool area was very full, much more crowded than i expected on a Wednesday night, but all day the outdoor drink snack kiosk was closed. I guess only open weekends? But there were only two staff at the bar and when i came back to pay for my already made $14 drink ( sitting at least a few minutes since i had to wallet) i had to wait and be ignored while they took much larger orders from others. I did not feel like leaving a tip ( for what?) and the girl has the nerve to ask, " no tip?" I said well I'll not sure how melted the ice is after sitting here a while. I took a sip and felt guilty, pressured, and sorry for the girl, who really should have had more support and probably has a low base pay, so gave a small tip.
We also ordered a few appetizers out at the pool, a little later. Way too many deep fried items! I find this a cheapskate shortcut to food; addictive killer stuff enough to start a health incident in anyone with high cholesterol or heart conditions. And on another occasion, since I'm local, I've tried several items on their menu and it's all quite sweet , deep fried, and salty.
Inside the room: there is a small flyer that mentioned they could charge you for missing bathrobes. It would have been nice to have access to a bathrobe but there was none, so they better not charge me! We got the basic king room, the cheapest, of which the only difference they say, for next room up was, soothing paint colors, so we got the cheaper that was 1970s style but remodeled. The bed was fine, all was fine, accept!: TV is on the side wall, which they said they do in all rooms, that was annoying to watch from bed. There is no little desk space nor way to create a desk. There's a table in the room but no chair. There's a little tiny couch thing that you could drag the table over to couch? Hassle. I used computer uncomfortably in bed. Also, there is no extra blanket, and what they've got was kind of thin so had to keep heaters higher. Also, no microwave in the room. I didn't ask for concern there would be a fee and didn't want the hassle of waiting etc. I must say, if it weren't for the pool area, this is a very average hotel and should not cost more than sandman, or be clear what benefit you are getting that's superior other than the restaurant that's really so so nearby, maybe if there's music you want to see at the club and don't want to drive home with alcohol in the blood?
