Culinary union members canvass the streets of Las Vegas, hoping to deliver a Nevada win for Biden | Eater Vegas

"A long-standing Las Vegas Strip hotel-casino employing frontline hospitality staff, including a cocktail server who has worked there for 28 years. Workers describe returning to shifts when casinos reopened at 50% capacity without early mask mandates or adequate protections, which led to coworkers being hospitalized; the situation has become deeply personal for employees and motivates their political engagement." - Susan Stapleton

Google
8.2/10 Got the super burrito with carne asada. It had pretty decent flavor. I would say that they should change their tortillas or make homemade tortillas because the tortilla didn't do it for me. The meat could also use a bit more flavor. Everything else inside the burrito had pretty good flavor though. Paid $14 and it was decent size If I'm in the area I'll definitely try out more on the menu. Overall the food looks good, so I'll be back eventually and would suggest others to try it out

First time here.. Some of the best ceviche I've ever had. Just wow!

Google
Best tacos EVER. My boyfriend and I come here pretty often and I honestly can't go anywhere else these days. Anytime we try, I end up comparing it to Flamingos and it's just nowhere near as tasty. Service is warm and friendly, they know we always want a giant horchata to go, and prices are perfect. I couldn't ask for a better meal. Fyi, it's tucked into the corner of a Asian market so it can be easy to miss.

I'm a big fan of the Supreme burrito and tortas cubana so far! Want to try something new on what is sure to be more visits. Their menu is so delicious and presented so well, worth every penny and more! Edit... Breakfast nachos OMG.

Google
Food is pretty bland. This is the chips and salsa. Must break chip to dip into salsa as the bowl is too small.

Google
It’s our fave place to go for burritos and the people running the place are always nice. Thank you for preparing such an amazing meal😊 keeping the family satisfied with the burritos..our all time fave👌🏻👍🏻😊 9/30/23 Called late almost store closing time but they still accommodate our order and made it ready for us in 10 minutes. And as always the food were amazing and satisfying. Thank you for the good meal and keep it up! It’s always a family favorite place to go.

Google
If you haven't had the chance to try their world famous breakfast burrito, you're missing out! Quality ingredients + prepared and cooked to perfection. We really appreciate the welcoming and friendly staff. They're super awesome, and always brighten our day ❤️

Google
The best Chile Verde I've ever had. The pork was not dried out like it is in most places, the salsa was amazing, and you could tell they cared about the food. Reminded me of LA.

Yelp
Underrated spot that is tucked away in the corner of a plaza. Small and unassuming it's definitely worth giving this place a shot. They were very quick to help and serve us for an early dinner. They do close early (6:00) as they specialize more in brunch and lunch so plan accordingly. But the taco salad was a great portion size for the price and had tons of all the toppings/garnishes.

Yelp
Amazing service , amazing food. You can see the kitchen and watch the amazing chef cook, I love it here . This is my first time . Their salsa and chips are super fresh. I'm definitely come back. They have a nice patio area that's definitely a vibe . It's a smaller restaurant in a grocery parking lot . AMAZING. Rice and beans are perfection

Yelp
Here's your Yelp review: I stumbled upon Flamingo's Taqueria in San Jose by pure chance while walking across the street during a break between water polo games at Harker School. What a find! The moment I walked in, the chef behind the grill greeted me warmly and asked what I was craving. I mentioned a quick breakfast, and he whipped up a custom breakfast burrito with chorizo, egg, potatoes, salsa, and veggies. Let me tell you--this burrito was phenomenal. The ingredients were fresh, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. It's hands down one of the best breakfast burritos I've had in a long time. If you're in the area and looking for authentic, delicious, and thoughtfully made food, I highly recommend Flamingo's Taqueria. It's a hidden gem that deserves all the love!

Yelp
Got the breakfast burrito for $13 and although it's on the smaller side in comparison to other restaurants, the flavor was great! It's definitely on the dryer side and I would ask for an extra cup of hot sauce on the side.

Yelp
Amazing place to get tacos. I would recommend the tacos here with their salsa. It's very delicious and a good balance of flavor and they pack on the meat. I forgot to take photos because my girl and I ate it so fast. The service was amazing the waitress treated us like guests in a home. It was fairly empty for mid day so will definitely recommend this place to friends and neighbors since little to no wait!

Yelp
I stopped off here this morning to pick up an early meal. I was the only there for a short period and the food was prepared quickly and I was out quickly. I do wish the staff were a little less grumpy though, my mood was down 20% after that interaction. The food was a good portion and decent.
google avatar

Yelp
Good breakfast burrito with roasted chili salsa. She can make anything to order. Veggie burrito w spinach, potatoes, onions, bell peppers. One of the better burritos. No rice or bean filler. Roasted chili salsa spicy. Homestyle cooking. Everything made from scratch except the tortillas. Would go back for more of the vegetarian dishes. A spinach enchilada sounds good if she can make it. Not on the menu. $20 after tip. 3$ coffee in a mug not paper cup. Like an old school sit down diner w hearty Mexican food. Got the flu from here.

Yelp
I tried the chicken regular tacos and thought it was decent. The meat maintained moisture and was well seasoned. It came with corn tacos and the typical fixings (onions, cilantro, etc.). I asked for a side of their green salsa, which had a pretty good kick. There is plenty of parking in the plaza. The food was prepared quickly and service was prompt.

Yelp
I go here for the Al Pastor torta. I get a Tamarindo Jarritos with it, and it legit makes my whole day. The torta is so good. I'm a gringa, so I don't know how the al pastor compares to other places or styles, but I love it. Small business run by a chef and waitress. They work hard and deserve the community's support. Good, clean small joint that cares about its customers. I live and work nearby, and I love that this reliable spot is open every day from 9:00 to 6:00, so I can come by any day for lunch!

Yelp
Located right next door to Lions market for some reason I had the hardest time spotting their sign "no joke" anyhooo wifey and I managed to find them. When I first walked I noticed the place looks unkempt, normally I would have walked out at this point but after looking at all posted food pictures I decided to give it a go. Now the lady that took our order seem very stern, no smile and was very direct. I ordered a chorizo and egg with potatoes and cheese breakfast burrito, I asked her if i could have bacon with it? She said... no, one meat only, beacon extra. I was thinking to myself, self what did you get yourself into? I just smiled and said that is fine with me, please add beacon. I also ordered a horchata drink. A couple minutes later she came back to the table with some chips and watery salsa and the Horchata. "This review sounds like it's going downhill doesn't it? Actually here's where everything completely turns around. I took a sip of the horchata and my taste buds exploded!! It had such a beautiful cinnamon taste (little on the sweeter side but sooo good" honestly I don't think I've ever had Horchata that was even remotely as good as this! About 10 minutes later my breakfast burrito showed up cut in half. With a side of the same watery salsa. when I added the salsa to the burrito it had a really mild smoky flavor, simply delicious. And my breakfast? Oh...... my..... gosh!! Everything about it was freaking amazing!! The big chunks of potatoes tasted better than the best home fries! The burrito had a light chorizo flavor with a beautiful bacon aftertaste, and was perfectly juicy. It has been years since I've had A breakfast burrito so good, I'm talking like over 30 years!! Yah man, that good. I think the lady over herd me having a food-gasm. Yah man I was making some noise!! I must have told her 5 times how good it was, she just smiled the shot me that stern look again lol, I really think she's a softy on the inside because she asked me if I wanted A refill on my Horchata or if I wanted any water? I said no as I was quite satisfied plus I couldn't see cuz myzz eyezzz were still rolled up in the back of my head C; bottom line is I would give them 5 if they spend some time cleaning the place and tidying up a bit. But the food 5 stars all day every day!!

Yelp
I've been to this plaza less than 5x. I did not know a taqueria is located here. It was a Friday and I promised Tess I would get her poke for dinner. I knew Gavin and I would get Mexican but I didn't know from where. I wanted to get the poke out of the way first but serendipity presented itself when we parked. Flamingo's was 3-4 doors down from poke. SCORE! Gavin ordered a regular chicken burrito and I ordered the chile verde and super nachos. I can't speak for Gavin but he enjoyed both halves of his burritos, no complaints whatsoever. I inhaled the chile verde that same evening; the pork was tender and paired perfectly w/ their fluffy rice! I did not like the super nachos... the top of the nachos was good but once you've eaten everything at the top, the rest was rather dry and flavorless. Skip the nachos. Get the chile verde. They have outdoor dining as well.

Yelp
I'm a regular supporter of This small/family business. Breakfast burritos don't disappoint

Yelp
Friend and I were craving burritos so made our way to this taqueria, part of a decent sized plaza off Saratoga. It's clean and nice, waitress was attentive. Their menu is pretty extensive, with even breakfast items! However, we both got the carne asada super burrito, and I omitted the beans, pico and sour cream. We were given a handful of chips and salsa, salsa was pretty good. We also asked for a spicier salsa for our burritos. I liked how the tortilla came grilled. We did get some cartilage in our carne asada, but tends to be normal at times. The burrito was good, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Helen C R.

Yelp
This is not a typical Taqueria! we sat at the bar and watched the man on the grill and he was more of a chef amazing the way he chopped up everything and really took care of with each order. I will dream about my burrito with green sauce. No kidding.
google avatar

Yelp
This a wonderful little spot tucked away in the back of a shopping center. I was grabbing bobba at the Kung Fu Tea and noticed it. The people look very nice and family owned. The customer service was friendly and welcoming. There is outdoor dining, take out, and they also said they delivered on some apps. The food was delicious and exceeded my expectations. The meat is super fresh. Would totally recommend!

Yelp
Flamingo's is a must try.. especially their breakfast burrito. They're a cozy taqueria, snuggled off of the saratoga and 280, with an incredible breakfast menu. The staff has always been super friendly, no matter how busy it had been. What makes their breakfast burrito stand out, from all the other break burritos in the Bay Area, is the... 1) Quality of fresh ingredients, freshly prepared. 2) Quantity and balance of ingredients, evenly distributed throughout the wrap. 3) The flour tortilla is always perfectly goldened, without being too flaky nor too soft. 4) Their burritos rolling skills are on point. The burritos can be enjoyed from end to end, without worry of it falling apart. Ordering online or calling in is also super convenient! They're super prompt :)
google avatar

Yelp
Their Carne asda tacos are fire I love this place for a quick bite. This is the perfect lunch spot.
google avatar

Marie C.

Yelp
I enjoyed Flamingo's menu very much!! This is not my first visit and will certainly not be my last! The food was delicious authentic Mexican food with quality ingredients and great prices! I was already a fan of the food truck but will definitely be coming here more as well! My friends and I had all something different and everyone loved their meal so much! The ambience of the restaurant is very cool, good vibes and casual colorful hang, love it!

Susan N.

Yelp
I had the Chili Verde and it was a well-melded taste delight. Tortillas were perfect, soft and hot! The service was quick and very friendly! I will be back soon!

Yelp
**Review only for their breakfast** Hands down the BEST BREAKFAST IVE HAD IN YEARS. I know say this often, however, my "best Evers" update with the passing years. I've lived near this place for 13 years and had zero idea it existed. I think perhaps they recently started to serve breakfast..? Either way, this place looks like a little whole-in-the-wall taqueria, and it is, BUT, they also service insanely good breakfast-ALL. DAY. I'll repeat that. BEST. BREAKFAST. IN. THE. BAY AREA. ALLLLL. DDAAAYYY!! It's not really ever that busy, portions are huge, service is excellent, and there are sooo many options. They have breakfast burritos, to Benedict's, to breakfast burgers, omelettes, to crepes, etc. you name it they have it. The prices are very reasonable too. If you're looking for your next breakfast spot, this is it. I can guarantee that you won't be disappointed. Make sure that if you are there for breakfast only, that you ask for their breakfast menus. It's bigger that the normal one they hand out. The main menus has some breakfast options, but not like the big mama-jama!
google avatar

Yelp
I often come here for take out since it's right next to where I live. It's a quiet and tiny joint. I'm always greeted right away by the owner and the chef. I love that you can see your food being cooked in front of you. Everything tastes homemade with love. Their vegetarian burritos are S T U F F E D . And they're super tasty!! They also have some of the best tasting jamaica around. The only thing I've tried that I wouldn't recommend is the grilled fish. It lacked flavor. I'd recommend trying their shrimp coctel if you're in a seafood mood. Quick service, good eats. It's worth a try.
google avatar

Suhan K.

Yelp
Been coming here for months, they have best super tacos in town! I generally need to eat around 4 tacos at other places, but here 2 tacos is enough to get me full - they're so filling and tasty! Highly recommend. Wonderful and friendly staff as well.
google avatar

Veronica S.

Yelp
I've been ordering take out for the office over a year and I've tried several dishes, they have not disappointed!! Good taste! Good portion! Good price! There take out is always on point!! VEGAN Friendly options too! Authentic Mexican Dishes, with other variety of options.

Marcus J.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying that Mexican food in San Jose Sucks!! It's super white washed. But this place is a hidden gem they still make authentic food & the meats are marinated perfectly for anyone who is tired of dry flavorless tacos, I recommend you come here. This spot is one of the better ones I've tried so far in SJ out of about 20 different spots.

Yelp
I was so disappointed. Daughter and I hadn't gone out to breakfast in awhile so we ventured out to find a hidden gem yesterday morning. Of course I checked Yelp to see what was around and Flamingos popped up. The reviews were outstanding so off we went. Located in a primarily Asian shopping center off Saratoga. This little taqueria is tucked into a back corner. Parking was great since it was early. Later in the day it's a zoo. It wasn't to early but when we arrived, we were the only ones there. Hmmm maybe this amazing place is just so secret that no one really knows about it? Let's hope so. We walked in and were greeted nicely by a guy in a ski cap. It's going to be 101 later and he's wearing a ski cap? Okay. We were sat at a table by the window and handed menus to meander over. The menu is decent size with the typical suspects. I opted for the pancake combo which comes with eggs and bacon. My daughter got the French toast comb. We both ordered waters. The waiter seemed to struggle a bit with knowing the menu very well. But he was kind and did his best. The restaurant over all felt greasy. The table was greasy, the menus were sticky. I think it's because the kitchen is open and takes up half the restaurant. The grease is just in the air. They have a small out door patio. Honestly, it looked more like a smoking section at a five bar. The chairs were certainly pulled out of an old smoky bar or coffee shop. It just looked awkward but I bet the chairs were comfy. Our food arrived and looked delicious. Mixed Berry French Toast: eggs scrambled perfectly. Bacon could have been crisper but okay. The berries on the French toast were not sweet and they were cold. The French toast was lacking flavor and had a hint of taco flavor. Probably from cooking on the same griddle as the lunch/dinner menu. My pancake combo wasn't much better. Pancakes were flat, tough and rubbery but my over medium eggs were cooked perfectly. I also thought the prices were a bit high for the environment. $12+ for breakfast and a bottled water. As we were leaving, the smell of grease became a little overwhelming. Unfortunately I can't in good Conscience recommend their breakfast. It just wasn't very good. Sorry Flamingo's.
google avatar

JoAnn Y.

Yelp
Very tucked away near the Lion grocery store. Hearty servings and reasonable prices. Very casual. If you're lucky you can get an outside table. It doesn't seem to get a lot of traffic, so it seems to be a good place to go to when everything else is too crowded.
google avatar

Yelp
I needed to go to Lion Supermarket to buy groceries for the Lunar New Year and decided to pick up some Mexican food on the way home. Flamingo's was located in the same shopping plaza, so I pre-ordered my lunch there using Grubhub. I ordered the Super Burrito with chicken and it did not disappoint! The portions were plentiful and the ingredients fresh. The seasoning was perfect and not too salty like many other places. The grill on the tortilla was a nice touch as well. Along with the burrito, I also ordered chips which were standard fare. The salsa that came with it however, was delicious and not too spicy. My only suggestion would be to provide a more detailed description on menu items (specifically on Grubhub and on the website) to give customers a better idea of what they're ordering. Other than that, my Flamingo's experience was excellent and I will be back!
google avatar

Nicole R.

Yelp
I hate to write anything but good reviews but this place was alright. Prices were a bit high & the interior is a little run down. Plus it's in a busy parking lot that's anchored by a supermarket so that makes it a bit inconvenient. Food was alright. We're not too picky but I think my taco was pretty bland & the super burrito was ok too. Salsa was a bit runny but had a good heat.
google avatar

Palak H.

Yelp
I'm always excited to try little mom and pop restaurants for authentic food but I was really disappointed this time. I ordered the quesadilla which on the menu said would come with guacamole, salsa, jalapeño, beans and sour cream. When they brought it to me it was just the quesadilla which meet and cheese with a side of sour cream. When I asked them about it, the waitress just said that it doesn't come with those sides anymore, you need to order sopes to get those sides. I was just surprised and my bf politely asked the waitress if she could bring those sides for us because that's the reason we ordered that item from the menu. The coffee was super cold when it reached our table. The tacos were decent.

Yelp
I got the steak super burrito today and the burrito was fantastic!!! Steak is tender and everything in it just tastes perfect! The service was excellent took my order right away and just wanted 15 minutes! Definitely should try this spot if you are in the area!
google avatar

Mike G.

Yelp
Great local Taqueria! It is in the corner of the Lion Plaza (so parking during the weekend might be tight). I ordered a Super Burrito (Beef without beans), I was expecting alot of rice and little beef, and I was wrong! The burrito was stuffed with Carne Asada, and it was grilled! Double Awesome!
google avatar

Jen L.

Yelp
My first time a few days ago. I ordered: Nachos fries - carne asada Super quesadilla - carnitas 2 tacos regular - carne asada 2 tacos regular - carnitas It hit the spot for my Americanized Mexican craving. I would go back again for tacos and try the wet burrito and grilled fish. The fries were a lot for 2 adults and 2 toddlers. The quesadilla is greasy, but yummy if you were going for it, and yes I was. Other notes: Pandemic really requires patience. Place does have seating outside so I can sit and wait outside. It's only run by 2 people. There were 3 people ahead of me (each ordering for their families) so I waited about 25 min. Also, I waited a few days to write this review to confirm my family and I had no stomach aches/upset stomachs, haha. At this age, 33, my stomach can't handle much fast-food and Costco Pizza. So food is clean even if the place looks slightly grimy and old.

Yelp
Food was Amazing.I ordered the Chili Verde omelette .It was tasty and plentiful. The only gripe I had was the waitress wasn't very friendly or else I would of gave it 5 stars. But I would definitely come back.

Victoria S.

Yelp
Hard to find taco salads with flavor, that is good and fill the shell, this place has one. Did not disappoint! I have seen this corner place for a few years and was pleasantly surprised when my yelp search pulled this place so close to my house. Ha, finally able to try them out and I look forward to trying out a few or her things on the menu and with the high coat of every these days, the amount of food was a pretty good value. Give them a try!
google avatar

Melissa J.

Yelp
A small, quaint restaurant that I stumbled upon. Got a $1.85 (around that price, can't remember) chicken taco and my companion ordered a burrito with carne asada. I wasn't too hungry, so the taco was perfect. After ordering, they will bring you salsa and chips. The chips were nice and warm; salsa had some kick to it. The food came out promptly. I was pleasantly surprised at how lean the chicken was. I was tempted to order another one but we were kind of in a rush. A woman came by to ask if everything was ok. Very hospitable & friendly workers. I wish I had taken some photos of the menu...I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
This review is solely based on their breakfast burritos, and my-oh-my Flamingo's has some of the best breakfast burritos around!! I came in on a Thursday morning around 10 and ordered a bacon breakfast burrito to go. 8 minutes later I was walking out the door with a phat burrito in hand and extra salsa on the side. Once home I finally got a better look at it, it was huge! I could only manage half of it before having to save the rest, which left me with mixed feelings because it was so good I wanted to eat more! This is hands-down one of the best breakfast burritos I've had, the eggs are fresh, bacon is thick and perfectly cooked (no undercooked nastiness), potatoes are spiced, fresh shredded cheese, a wonderful layer of refried beans, and fresh chopped lettuce to help cut through a (delicious) cardiac arrest. Although all the other food in the restaurant looks appetizing as well, you cannot go wrong with the glorious creation that is a breakfast burrito.

Yelp
Quiet, fast, and tasty hole in the wall place! Went out looking for breakfast on a Sunday around noon and every place had a 30-60 minutes wait time! Found this place and we sat down immediately. While it's small, the flavors that come out are good! We both ordered wet burritos with steak in red sauce. Presentation was great and every single bite had meat. Every. Single. Bite. Had. Meat. Food and service were great and I was pleasantly surprised coming into this place! Try this place out!

Shaun G.

Yelp
Cute cozy taqueria. Fast service. Delicious food. Perfect for a yummy, quick bite. Also serving size is fairly large.

Yelp
I love coming to this place after work to grab a quick bite! I've had their carne Asada and al pastor super burritos and I've yet to be disappointed with my purchase! Their guacamole is also a must try!!! Pros: Fresh and delicious food, Food comes out pretty fast, Friendly staff and chef, Family owned, And they take card/cash Cons: Hidden in corner of the plaza Overall, I'd recommend their food to anyone who wants the best burrito in the area

Joanna N.

Yelp
Food is good. One cook did the cooking and both plates served at the same time and they are both very hot. Like the music there, make me want to dance. The lady server was not completely friendly. Perhaps she has something in her mind. While I was there, there were a lot of to go order.
google avatar

Margi E.

Yelp
So I'm having second thoughts if I'm going to share this review or not...I'd hate the crowd coming in but this mom and pops need to stay around for a very long time. Currently, having brunch. We are served the freshest ingredients for our breakfast burrito and omelette. And OMG - generous crab and shrimp inside the Flamingo! They have amazing Belgian waffles and delicious brioche French toast. Don't get fooled by the appearance of their potatoes. I love it! And I hate potatoes in breakfast. They provide FREE COFFEE and the service is SUPERB !
google avatar

Cody O.

Yelp
My husband and I decided to try Flamingos after dropping my car off to get services near by around 9:30am. There was no one else there so service was very prompt and the food was nice and hot. We ordered delicious ranchero steak and eggs as well as the Chile Verde omelette. Both were cooked perfectly with delicious seasonings. The green chile was a very mild spice, I was hoping for more heat but it is probably perfect for the masses that may not know how hot New Mexico green chilies can be. We will definitely pop back into try other items in the future!

Yelp
I have visited other restaurants but for the first time I find delicious Chilaquiles Verdes.

Yelp
One sunny Saturday, the wife and I were cruising down Saratoga Ave and I noticed ( again) a little Mexican place amid a bunch of Asian places. I always thought that it was a strange place for a Mexican restaurant. So off we go to find out what it has to offer. The parking lot is a zoo. Tight little spaces and bunch of crazies fighting for a spot. Since I drive a big old SUV, they got out of my way. Parked right in front of the place. The place is small and not quite cozy. It is a bit of dive. Of well, most of the best Mexican places are a dive. The wife ordered street tacos and I ordered a torta. Let me say this, white breads need not apply. The wife dipped the green sauce on top of the tacos and turned red when it hit her tongue. She had to scrap off the the green sauce and it was still plenty warm. The carnitas torta had pickled jalapenos and some sort of red sauce that made me sweat. I like hot food and while this was not extra hot, it was spicy. Overall the food was good. Since the wife falls into the white bread category, she did not enjoy Flamingos. I did like the torta and the rest of her street tacos. Not a place I would drive a long way for but still good.

Yelp
Nestled in the corner of a crowded shopping center in a working class neighborhood, Flamingo's shoots your classic taqueria fare straight from the hip. I've enjoyed their tacos a couple of times over the years. But recently I went for the torta cubana on a whim, and wow! What a delicious protein-lover's delight! Layers of milanesa, ham, salchichas (sliced hotdogs!), egg, beans, & cheese! The crema & touch of sautéed onions & peppers make this torta an authentic masterpiece! Bravo, chef!
