The "Homemade" in the Flapdoodles fun name caught my attention one day as I was driving away from Walmart, so when the sweet tooth hit us one night, I knew exactly where we could go to take care of it.
When I drove up to the spacious parking lot, there were families sitting outside enjoying time together as they gobbled up their creamy treats, while others were taking advantage of the drive through window. Because it was already night fall and the temperature had already begun to drop, we opted to sit inside.
Inside the shop, it's bright and cheerful with all kinds of entertaining doodling on the walls and tables. Guess this is how they got their name? Anyway, there are two stores. North and South, and they both have different flavors on rotation. We were at the North store because it was closer to our hotel and it appeared to be bigger than the South one.
The showcase of ice cream looks very similar to that of the more popular chain that sells 31 flavors. So I figured it was going to be similar in taste and nothing really unique about it. But I was wrong. It was much thicker and creamier. Good, but because each scoop is about the size of a tennis ball if not larger, it was a challenge to eat more than one scoop.
I can see how popular it must get here during the Summer. But I would definitely go back, Summer or not.
