Where to Eat and Drink Near Great Smoky Mountains National Park | Eater

"Another breakfast institution in the area, Flapjack’s Pancake Cabin is a Tennessee mini-chain with a half dozen locations around the Smokies, all housed in literal wooden cabins. The Pigeon Forge location, right on the main U.S. 441 corridor that enters the national park from the northwest, is convenient for pregaming before a hike. Sure, you could feast on chicken fried steak or chicken biscuit skillets, but there’s no better way to fuel up for a day in the mountains than with a plate of bear cakes — bear-shaped smiley-face pancakes with a chocolate syrup smile and chocolate chip eyes. Or, if you’d rather not order off the kids’ menu, other pancake options range from cinnamon-swirled sticky bun pancakes with cream cheese icing to multigrain pancakes spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg." - Matt Kirouac

Food was very good for the price and our server was very attentive and sweet. She made sure our food came out hot and that the order was correct. The atmosphere was very laid back and warm. My wife and I were treated very well and we look forward to eating there again when we come back to Gatlinburg.

Great prices for the portions! Breakfast foods are my favorite. I don't like overpaying for biscuits, eggs, and, hashbrowns. I also don't understand why some places can't do simple meals. Flapjack's checks both boxes. Also, I can't say enough about their cheap basket of biscuits. 5 biscuits for $7! And they're good. We had a super sweet server. I wish I could remember her name. I was a little worried about service after the hostess and gift shop cashier were both unpleasant. The server made up for it though. Plenty of parking. There may be a wait on busy mornings, but it's not too bad and you can shop while you wait.

The hostess was slow to seat us, and when we requested a table by the window, she claimed she needed to check for bookings despite the restaurant being nearly empty. After a 5 minute wait, she reluctantly seated us with an attitude. Throughout our 30-40 minute stay, no other customers arrived besides just 1-2 families, making the initial hesitation puzzling. On the other side, the food was good, but the poor service and unwelcoming behavior left a sour taste.

The wait at Crocketts was 75-80min. We decided to try Flapjacks instead and are glad we did!!! We didn’t wait, service was fast and friendly, food was delicious and way more than we could eat! We were finished before a table was even available at the other place.

The breakfast here in Tennessee, hands down in unmatched!! The food is AMAZING!!! I’m a very big breakfast junkie, I make it everyday so my expectations for breakfast food is high! I usually don’t eat nearly as much as served in restaurants, but always make meats, eggs and pancakes. The quantity of food for the price is unbelievable! The taste is 10/10. If I had to list a complaint it’d just be that the biscuit wasn’t as soft as I’d prefer, but that’s just reaching. Don’t see how this place could get a bad review. Also the atmosphere is so warm and inviting!

We came in 10 minutes before they were closing and they still served us. Very nice servers. The food was awesome. The hashbrowns were different I like how they made them soft like mashed potatoes in a way with cheese. It was something different. But I really enjoyed the food and the fact that we weren’t rushed because we were the only ones in there after hours.

We enjoyed our visit this morning. First time there and we will be back. We started with the Flapjack fritters, then my husband had the Sammy ham and cheese skillet with multi gain pancakes and a side of biscuits. I had the Reeses pancakes. Everything was great. We had so many leftovers to enjoy later. Our server, James, was friendly and did a nice job.
