Columbia’s original brewpub (since 1994) pairs house beers with a broad, comfort-rich menu and a beloved, tree-shaded patio. A perennial local recommendation and media favorite. Flat Branch Pub & Brewing is a wonderful american fare restaurant with delicious entrees and freshly brewed beverages. We love ordering the artichoke dip served in a warm bread bowl. Flat Branch serves a variety of specialty pizzas, tasty pasta dishes, juicy burgers, delicious appetizers, wonderful desserts, and more. Flat Branch specializes in house-brewed beer, so you have to try one of the pints or flights! There is plenty of seating in the main dining area, around the spacious bar, and on the inviting patio. Flat Branch Pub & Brewing is a "Must Visit" restaurant in downtown Columbia, MO.

First time here, and it will not be my last! Stopped for a burger after a golf tournament based on its rating. This gem certainly deserves its high marks! The atmosphere is great, but the food is better!

We spent the day in the Columbia area doing college visits with our daughter and this was a great stop for a late lunch. They had a great beer selection so the flight option was perfect. The creole red snapper was super yummy with just enough of a kick. The hobgobbler was delicious and fries were FANTASTIC!! The six cheese Mac and cheese was also very flavorful and a great choice. The serving sizes were large (take home boxes were necessary), the restaurant was a fun, family style vibe, service was quick, and our server was very informative, attentive, and sweet! Definitely would return!!

Great patio. Delicious French dip, pork tenderloin sandwich and wrap. Plus crowlers (32oz) to go!

Google
Victoria was our server, she was great. The food was really good. Started with nachos, not the best. The rest was great, burger, Cesar salad with the best dressing my wife ever had, awesome mac n cheese with bacon, and a really good chicken bacon ranch wrap. The John Daly was great too. Great atmosphere, exactly what we needed.

Google
Very nice! We enjoyed. Clean dining, friendly staff. Food was served quickly even on a busy Saturday for lunch. A little bit of everything, so if you have a picky eater in your group they should find something to enjoy also.

Connie Hunt

Google
We had the steak and crab cake special. The steaks were so flavorful and the crab cakes were delicious. The only complaint is they cooked our steaks longer than they should have.

Google
A really nice hideout for friends and family to enjoy some well made foods. For starters, we had the Nachos, which I rated a (4) Next I tried the Pastrami Reuben which tasted very good. I know it's their version but I'm used to having more meat in this type of sandwhich. Still I rated this a (4) due to portion size. Their Mash Potatoes were good as well (4). For desert we tried the Brick Oven Apple Crisp. This desert is a must have for at least 2 people. The presentation was excellent and the taste was excellent as well (5). They brew their own beers which are very good as well. For me the beers averaged about (3.5).

Yelp
Ordered a tenderloin after seeing the table next to me getting one. When it arrived it looked great, great! Eating it was a different story. Tough, leatherlike, all fried breading without the taste of the protein. For the first time in....forever asked the waitress if it was nomally this tough as I tried to pull it apart. She was nice enough to make one on the fly but unfortunatly when the new one arrived it was just a little better. Side wise the fries were some of the best i had! Daughter and wife were very happy with their meals so that is why I averaged the meals to a 3 star. It would be unfair to not recommed the place but very fair to steer folks away from the tenderloin sandwich which unfortunatly was one of the worst i have ever experienced.

Yelp
The mystifying horrible. Walked into Flat Branch Brewery this past Sunday around 4:30 looking for a bowl of pasta I've enjoyed in the past. I was flying solo so I siddled up to the bar. Once I sat down I realized it's one of those places in town where the bar stools are the incorrect height for the bar. Looking behind me I see a row of 7-8 Bistro High Top Tables with about four of them occupied. I grabbed my magazine & headed over to an empty one right next to a couple with their college aged daughter. I'd been sitting for a few minutes reading when some guy comes over and in a very condescending voice says to me "Ma'am-Can we HELP you?". Well, I wasnt there to post a letter jackhole. Caught out by his rudeness I started to explain I wasn't comfortable sitting at the bar. "Well, this section is closed for the night so you'll have to sit at the bar or the other side." Same snotty tone. He starts to lead me to the other side of the joint and as I pass the host stand I just hook a right and exit. Headed on over to Ozark Mountain Biscuit for a delicious Pork Tenderloin sandwich with pleasant and efficient service and the right sized bar stools.

Yelp
Fantastic service from Annabelle ! Nice little restaurant. Food was pretty good. Burger was tasty. Fried ravioli dish was ok. Wanted to try it but wouldn't necessarily order it again.

Yelp
Very cute place with amazing food! Service was great and speedy! We had a beer flight - the 4 pack sampler. Good micro brews! I had the summer Brewhouse salad with grilled chicken which was savory and seasoned perfectly. The honey cigarette dressing hit the spot! Most of the salad was very fresh, with the exception of the cucumbers. Probably refrigerated too long and mushy. My husband had the FlatHouse Catfish & chips and said it was the best catfish he's had in a very long time! Come in, sample the beers, relax and have a great meal!

Yelp
I was part of a very large party (20+) on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated quickly. The server was really great. He was attentive and efficient. The cream soda was refreshing. The flatbread pizza (pesto sauce with artichokes) was delicious. I really liked the crust. The only thing I'd do differently is to blend the pesto a bit more because I wasn't crazy about the coarse pine nuts or maybe it was garlic--no big deal. I'd come back here for sure. The Rueben looked wonderful--it was huge!
google avatar

Yelp
Food was decent but the service was awful. Friday afternoon, not even busy. Left us sitting at the table for at least 15 mins before bringing water. Took and extra 10 mins to get a beer from the bar 6' away. Tallulah (I think was the name...) made eye contact multiple times before even coming over and then proceeded to be the slowest server we have had. If you're coming here sit at the bar and hope that they have pre-brewed the beer before you order it or else you may die of thirst. Not sure what is even happening at this place...

Yelp
Great service here!!! Our server Annabelle was very nice and she was just in training! You wouldn't be able to tell she did great. The food was pretty good too. I like the option of raw veggies as a side. Nice place too a lot of seating inside and outdoors. The only thing I'd recommend is the owner should work on his responses to lower reviews. It almost put a bad taste in my mouth while picking a place to go. But I would go again lolll!

Yelp
The food was exceptional. The presentation was great. This place was delightful. The chicken sandwich and well seasoned fries were amazing. The service service was great. I had a wonderful time.

Yelp
The manager was the downfall for this place. The wait staff was good. Would not recommend based on the bland food.

Yelp
What a great find. I discovered this place while visiting the college kids the Friday before a big game. This is walk-able distance from campus so was able to do a quick campus tour to burn off the meal. Good choices of beers. The American IPA and Juicy Hazy hit the spot on one of the hottest days of the year. I ordered the Adobo Pork Burrito. Found in the sandwich section of the menu but felt like a healthy sandwich option. Walked into the restaurant hungry and found the burrito the perfect amount of food. Not too much food. Flavorful meat and fresh veggies. Must save room for dessert!!! The Tiger Stripe Ice Cream is a local ice cream and apparently made at Mizzou. Perfect to share at the table. I will make this place my go-to anytime I visit the kids.

Yelp
Visited Flat Branch Pub & Brewing in Columbia, MO for a late lunch while in town for a Mizzou Football game. Naturally, the place was packed, and the service was a bit slow, but we didn't mind--we kicked things off with beer flights. Sampling different brews was definitely a great call, and once we found our favorites, we ordered pints. Food-wise, we started with some appetizers--onion rings were a hit--and then moved on to the veggie burgers. Now, I've had some killer veggie burgers here before, so my expectations were sky-high. This time? Still good, but didn't quite blow me away like I hoped. Maybe I was setting the bar too high! All in all, it was a fun time with good food and a lively atmosphere. Will I be back? Absolutely!

Yelp
Disappointing...thought it would be better but....anyway, the only beers they serve are the ones that they brew, not a huge selection but they were better than anticipated....the service was okay, slow, but okay....the ambiance was decent, oldish building with a fairly large patio outside that was crowded on arrival....ordered the pork tenderloin sandwich, very large and came with fries...the tenderloin was a bit overdone and was therefore dry...the onion rings which we paid extra for were lukewarm at best....our friend had the catfish which he liked and said was good...the snapper ordered by another friend was very overdone and not enjoyable at all...the chicken pesto dinner was sufficient for another friend who said that it was pretty good...all in all I expected more, maybe I had higher expectations....anyway, it could have been an off night but I would probably pass on another attempt here...

Yelp
In for a quick stop so no in-depth review. Top service, pretty OK 5-cheese Pizza, decent beer varieties and reasonable prices.

Yelp
Flat Branch nailed it! The Smitty's Draft Root Beer was smooth, sweet, and super refreshing -- one of the best I've had. The Sausage & Chicken Bayou Pasta was packed with bold Cajun flavor, tender meat, and creamy goodness. Totally satisfying and full of flavor!

Breana M.

Yelp
The food is so amazing; best onion rings we have ever had. We always sit at the bar and it's the best environment. The servers are always helping each other.

Yelp
Green chile beer? Green chile chicken fingers? Anything is possible over at Flat Branch Pub. Came here on a Monday night in the summer with coworkers on our recent business trip to MIZZOU and wow, this spot had something for everyone. After seeing my coworkers choose inventive brews like the lavender (which is actually purple) and green chile options, I knew I had to go with a flight to properly sample them all. I really enjoyed the lavender and green chile options, but was happy they were just small pours vs. committing to an entire glass. The green chile beer in particular has a real kick to it, so if you're not into spice don't go with this option. Their sour beer was actually on the lighter side which I appreciated, and the Kolsh was darker than what I'd normally expect but still pretty tasty. Service was friendly and prompt enough for this displaced New Yorker. The ambiance was casual, we chose to sit outside to enjoy the cooler night weather. The green chile chicken finger salad really hit the spot even though I'm not sure you can really qualify something like this as a salad. It reminded me of an elevated version of a Wendy's salad...in a good way? Giant pieces of spicy, crispy green chile chicken fingers underneath romaine lettuce with tomatoes, cheese, bacon, onions and ranch dressing. What's not to love? We all split the queso and pico fried ravioli which is unlike anything I've ever come across (in a good way). It's like if a ravioli and a burrito bowl had a baby.

Yelp
Small lot adjacent and street parking. Cool holiday decor outside on the trees. Great meal. Server was friendly though seemed confused by the amount of food ordered (we are yelpers)! In order of greatness: The pretzel and spinach cheese dip, as noted by others. Wow! Pretzel was So warm, soft and flavorful. The dip had great flavor. The wings. Great flavor sauce. Crispy, moist wings. Delish ranch sauce. Onion rings. Crispy. Flavorful. Slightly overdone. Toasted ravs. Good. Not what I expected drenched in cheese sauce but nice to get the side of sour cream and guacamole. The charred romaine was a last minute add. It was odd in terms of warm, wet, soggy. Flavor was good. Great place, would like the pretzel and wings. Every time.

Yelp
I love Flat Branch! Our party of three got in on Friday night with no reservations or wait. Our server, Austin, was great! Overall a good experience. Our table also got the avocado chicken salad sandwich and loved it.
google avatar

Renee E.

Yelp
Limited vegan options but you can customize on the menu. The veggie patty is not vegan, but you can order the seasonal salad and extra veggies. Chicken club was absolutely delicious and great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend for a good sit down restaurant with family.
google avatar

Yelp
Food is always great, especially when you get big portions like the Cajun pasta you could definitely share with a loved one! Make sure you also get the artichoke dip with the veggies and chips too! ‍

Yelp
Flat Branch is our go-to for a yummy casual meal in Columbia. A wide menu with something for whatever mood you're in. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Stopped by here, working in Columbia, MO for the week. Been to Columbia many times before for work, but never checked this place out until now. They were out of the 2 IPA's I requested. I then asked to try the Czech Pils, but they were out of that too. So I went with the pale ale and the bartender was nice enough to pour me the rest of the Lucky 7's. Ordered a mushroom Swiss burger, medium cooked. And a side of fries. Burger was good, fries were ok. This place is close to Missouri University campus, so it was busy with a nice mix of locals and college students. Will definitely come back here when back in Columbia for work.
google avatar

Yelp
Fun atmosphere and good food. Love the view of the brewing equipment. Beer selections are good and innovative. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Yelp
I had the chicken Philly. The chicken was dry once I put the horseradish sauce that came with it on there. It tasted really good. My husband ordered a Caesar salad the waitress who was really nice. Asked if he wanted chicken on it. He said no however when we got the bill we charged for the chicken. I asked the waitress why and she said because it comes with chicken and it is the same price with or without the chicken. It was hard to hear each other talk because it was so loud in the restaurant.

Yelp
Great service, beautiful patio, & delicious locally sourced food. My brother and I stopped here on our way from KC to St. Louis on Easter and it was a great experience. I'd hands down stop here in the future!

Yelp
I finally went back to Flatbranch and it was like night and day. I think there were just a lot of growing pains in those years around the pandemic, and quality became a problem everywhere. I ordered the exact same meal and it was EXACTLY as described! The pork was flavorful and well sauced and a generous portion. The service was very quick and we didn't wait very long to get seated. We will definitely be back, and I'm glad to say I get the hype!
google avatar

Renee I.

Yelp
Unbeknownst to us this place has a parking lot which makes finding the door to get in easier. Ha. We parked on the street and couldn't readily see the entrance as it was dark. We were seated immediately. We had a table on the bar side but unfortunately there was a huge draft from the window we were next to. If my husband comments on it then I know it's not just me! Our waiter was Ryan and he was very nice. The food was good- my husband's Reuben had plenty of meat on it and great rye bread. Dressing served on the side. He loved veggies as a side. I got chicken in white wine herb sauce over cranberry rice. The rice was good but would have been great with more cranberries. I thought the chicken was slightly dry so Ryan brought me extra sauce on the side. The focaccia served with the chicken was fabulous.

Yelp
We just came to flat branch for a quick appetizer and drink while we waited for a concert. The raviolis were absolutely delicious! The bloody mary had some local beer in it and it was very good too. They have a really pretty patio that is surrounded by greenery. Overall a perfect place for lunch and can't wait to go back to have a full meal! Our server was great too!

Yelp
The only reason this place got 2 stars was because our server - with a smile like the young Woody Harralson, was so darn good. If you read the reviews they all talk about good service cause the food fails at execution. The menu looks good but the chef (at least this night) overcooked everything. The chicken breast on the southwest chicken salad was cooked hard as a hockey puck. The two medium burgers came out well done and the pork was cooked till it was dry. My veggies were cold with no seasoning or flavor and mashers came out cold as well. But at least the Drinks were generous. We got there about 730 on a Sunday and the place was pretty empty but for some reason everything took a while - and we were still eating about halfway through they started putting up the chairs on the tables and sweeping the floors. I hate when they start sweeping around you while you're still eating! Rude. We complained and they stopped, begrudgingly. We were watching the Chiefs game and it's coming down to the final plays just a few minutes on the clock and they SHUT OFF the TV we were watching! REALLY!!! So yes we can takes hint. It's 945 and you want us out...but just minutes on the clock and the Chiefs are down and have the ball going for the win! A-Holes! As we are leaving we see that they kept the game on a different tv not facing us for the only 2 guys sitting at the bar. We will NEVER be back. Sorry Woody. You deserve a manager who supports his staff better. And you deserve a better cook!

Yelp
Flat branch is one of my favorite places in como and I always try coming here when I'm back in town. I've had a fair amount of dishes and can't remember being disappointed with anything. My favorite is the coffee rubbed pork chop with bacon apple jam. I am hesitant to get pork chop when I go out due to fear of dryness but I've gotten it several times here and it is consistently juicy. They also have a very nice patio. The only issue is they don't take reservations and the wait can sometimes be long but not unreasonable so just try to go relatively early in the evening if you go for dinner. Very friendly and helpful staff.
google avatar

Stacey C.

Yelp
Food was good as usual, sorry no pic, I was really hungry. Service is pretty good especially at the bar. The decor is industrial with warm brown bricks and paint. Gives a cozy vibe. It's located in an old hanger style building. One of my favorite restaurants.
google avatar

Yelp
It has been many years since I have eaten at Flat Branch. There is a nice outdoor area to eat that has umbrellas as well of trees for shade. It was a gorgeous day and we would have eaten outside if it weren't for all of the cicadas and how loud they were. This review is not at all based on the cicadas as I know there is no way the restaurant can do anything about them. I am allergic to gluten and there used to be more gluten free options. My husband and I went for a late lunch/early dinner and I asked the hostess if they had a gluten free menu. She said they didn't but that our waitress would be able to tell me which bread, crust, and other items I can eat. Our waitress was fairly new but did a fantastic job finding out what my options were. Unfortunately, the hostess was wrong, they do not have a gluten free bread option or a gluten free crust. The misinformation was very disappointing to me. The kitchen was able to accommodate my allergy with the lunch special (Fried Portobello & Bacon wrap) but it was lacking flavor. They grilled the mushroom and as I am writing this review I just realized that my meal was missing the bacon. Maybe it would have tasted better with the bacon. I also had the cucumber salad which was good. My husband had the Big Chief burger with onion rings. He said his meal was good but he would have like his egg over easy instead of fully cooked. The wings were decent but we have definitely had better.
google avatar

Netanya B.

Yelp
I can always trust the quality of food and service every time I come. The service and food are both consistent and I have always enjoyed my experience here. I tried the short rib special and the sauce was delicious and did not disappoint. I usually sit at the bar. The beers are pretty much the same year-round and then there are about1-2 beers on the menu that are seasonal. So the selection of house beers are pretty limited.
google avatar

Cassandra G.

Yelp
This is a great micro brewery and the first one in Columbia Missouri. They've been around for about 30 years and does not disappoint with good pub food all around fresh and portion sizes are great and the price tag doesn't hurt either. Everything savored was delicious including the winter harvest salad, chokes, and cheese appetizer with crudite and the Kansas City strip special with crab sauce and vegetables and mashed potatoes. It's a large and spacious restaurant and if you get there before five will most likely be seated quickly without a wait definitely recommend the beer on tap including the Anaheim green chili beer that is signature as well as some of the seasonal favorites like Czech Pilsner and various craft beer options. They also serve a signature tiger stripe ice cream that is a no to the tigers at the University of Mizzou. it's a nice spot to stop at this very typical college town or on your way to Kansas City.

Yelp
Flat branch is a great spot to enjoy good food on a patio in COMO. Their menu has a wide variety of options to please anyone. I enjoyed the honey sriracha wings - the sauce was the perfect balance of sweet and spicy and wings were a good size. I also tried the pretzel twist with spicy spinach cheese dip, which was also pretty tasty!
google avatar

Conrad R.

Yelp
Extensive menu choices, and service was very prompt. Sitting on the patio on a nice March day makes this first choice of dining in Columbia a winner
google avatar

Lauren R.

Yelp
Flat Branch is a local favorite! They have wonderful beers, affordable food that is tasty and a nice atmosphere to catch up with friends or family indoor or on the patio. The hatch chili beer is always fun to at least try a sample of. We had the ravioli and pretzel & ordered extra cheese dip which was great with both. I tried the pimiento bbq grilled cheese and it was a little to much meet, not enough cheese. Normally I will get a pizza here and those are very good!

Gareld B.

Yelp
We enjoyed an excellent lunch at Flat Branch. A wide variety of menu choices including for the kids. Service was friendly and quick. This is becoming one of our favorite restaurants when we pass through Columbia at meal time.
google avatar

Sydni M.

Yelp
This is a must try while in Columbia! The service is always good and the food is even better. I highly recommend the Charbroiled Romaine Salad and the Cookie that's cooked in a brick oven. For an app the onion rings are pretty good but my favorite is the toasted ravioli with queso. The atmosphere is so fun and very inviting. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Perfect place to watch Chiefs or MIZZOU games!
google avatar

Yelp
Went here with high expectations for a loval brewery, but the place just did deliver: Ed's IPA was kind of flat. I like to say I have never met an IPA I did not like, but this is a fail. Also surprising is a lack of other beer. Yes, there are a few other choices, but I would expect more. I was so disappointed I did not risk trying another. I also ordered the catfish and chips. Oddly did mot taste like catfish, just okay. Fries really good though. Service and seating great. Would I go back? No. The place is not horrible, but not a great. A three star rating is fine.
google avatar

Robert B.

Yelp
It was Mother's Day and graduations yet we were seated in only 15 minutes! We had the Red Snapper and Creole Pasta which were both fantastic. We also enjoyed the Pub Dip Sandwich with a potion size so large my wife could not finish. If adult beverages are for you the try the Old Fashion (Knob Creek Specially Barreled for them) and the John Daly. Both very nice drinks. Don't forget Tiger Stripe ice cream for desert!

Yelp
Who would have guessed that many of the Columbia no -chain restaurants close on Sundays! Thankfully, this staple / GOAT is not closed and continues to put out some outstanding food and drink, served by capable and friendly staff. Outside seating is a premium here when the weather is awesome, like today. Lovely patio! Sadly, we didn't have time to wait for a table to open, so we grabbed one near the busy bar. The ambience inside near the bar is definitely aligned to a bar / pub, but that was fine for us. Other tables with quieter surroundings are available. Our server was very attentive and helpful with the menu. Our food review: - Chicken wings with the Sriracha honey: GET THIS! Some of the best wings we have had in a whole. 4.5 - Sausage and Chicken Bayou Pasta - Get this! Generously portioned with a tasty medley of pasta, chicken, sausage and traditional veggies served with some very tasty, rich Cajun cream sauce. It had some heat, so this tasted legit! 4.3 - Hobgobbler - very tasty smoked Turkey! Sweet potato fries are the way to go! - Flat Branch Burger - daughter ordered this medium rare and it was cooked perfect. Very meaty and hearty dish. Get the sweet potato fries! - Pork Chop w/ Blackberry Honey Mustard Sauce - Another very tasty dish! Lots of blackberry sauce and blackberries! Chop was a tad on the small side (IMHO). Mashers were decent. 4.25 - Chicken Philly - decent sandwich that tasted as you would expect. American cheese is an interesting choice, but it works. The creamy horseradish sauce is the bomb! 4.0 Beer flight was tasty. Several standouts and originals you can't find anywhere else. Try a flight and enjoy!

Yelp
Slow and not worth the wait Waited 1 1/2 to get seated for lunch and got cold food. The vibe was annoyed and crowded.

Yelp
We were driving through Columbia on our bi-annual trip to the East Coast. We searched on Yelp for outdoor dining since we travel with our dog. Flat Branch Pub & Brewery came up as a top choice. We are always eager to check out local breweries so we THOUGHT we were set. Sadly, the young man that was working the outdoor seating stand was quite rude - first thing he said to us was, 'You've never been here before have you? '. We replied that no we were passing through town. His response was essentially, 'We don't allow dogs. Our patio fills up easily so we don't feel like we have to welcome dogs'. YIKES! Luckily, a fellow customer overheard the exchange and directed us another restaurant. They were very friendly and happy to accommodate well behaved dogs. My input to Tom's response to my review. As a business owner, I would highly recommend that you educate your employees on the reason you don't accept dogs and also on how to deliver this tidbit in a polite manner.

Yelp
Great Hangover food! I will be back and try quite a few menu items that looked great! Food was priced welll!

Jiminy C.

Yelp
Food came very quickly, and the server was very kind and patient with all of me and my family. The interior also was filled with good decorations. They had a huge variety of foods to serve. I got the "garlic 5 cheese pizza" and it was the best pizza I have had in my life. Perfect restaurant, good for family fun and so much more. Would recommend, it's best restaurant I've ever been to.

Mister P.

Yelp
Chokes and cheese for an app and. Then tap into one of their many beer choices... the fact that I have to have 85 characters is for the birds reddit
