So it's been a while since we visited Fleming's and I must say, it's been our loss. We were there on a recent Saturday evening and the place was hopping! Good to see and great fun people-watching! Nice lively atmosphere; a diverse mix of ages and ethnicities, from family get-togethers to date nights, and those dressed-to-kill and dressed-down. Our server was excellent, attentive, charming, and knowledgeable. We started off with some shared appetizers of crab cakes (full of crab meat, little breading, simply excellent), tuna ahi poke (very fresh and tasty), and a couple of salads - the Fleming's Salad (walnuts, cranberries, and tomatoes with a bright lemon vinaigrette) and a classic iceberg lettuce with generous crumbly blue cheese chunks. Both were very nice. I had a bone-in NY strip steak - well-seasoned with a nice crust, perfectly cooked (i like medium-rare), and deliciously minerally and meaty. My daughters had ribeyes and filet mignon which they said was very very good. My wife - the non-meat eater in our family - was very happy to see a real vegetarian entree on Fleming's menu: a cauliflower and portobello "steak". She plowed into that and enjoyed it greatly, especially the mushroom demi-glace which was very tasty and full of umami. Desserts were also well-executed: we shared an excellent cheesecake with strawberry and wine sauce; a creme brulee; and their chocolate "gooey butter" cake. The only items that were just okay (though serviceable) in our opinion were the sides: we had the Fleming's au gratin scalloped potatoes, sauteed mushrooms, and roasted asparagus. They were good - but not great. The steaks, apps, and desserts, however ... those were great!
