My girlfriend and I came here on a reservation for our two year anniversary.
First impression when we stepped into the restaurant was that it was beautiful. The setting was dimly lit with carefully arranged overhead lighting which made for a very intimate dining experience. We were kindly greeted by the staff whom congratulated us on our anniversary and led us to our table after a short 5 minute wait. The table was beautiful set up with a card commemorating our special occasion with red hearts sprinkled around the tables. We were flattered and appreciated this gesture; it set a very nice mood for the rest of the dinner.
Michael was patient with us as we asked him about several dishes and about his recommendation. We had also asked him about the $150 steak house dinner for two that was advertised on an Instagram ad which was how we had originally found this restaurant. He kindly let us know that it was only available on Tuesdays which I had not realized as it was not very well advertised, but nonetheless we were optimistic and looking forward to a wonderful dinner.
We ended up deciding on ordering the following items:
Non-Alcoholic Daiquiri- Sweet but not too sweet, citrussy, refreshing, mild bitterness. This "fruity mocktail" as our server called it, was the only non-alcoholic option that wasn't water or soda. Pineapple juice seemed to be a very big part of the flavor with strawberry as a secondary and less dominant taste. The drink was topped with chunks of strawberry and it was overall a pleasant and refreshing drink to have. I'd recommend maybe sharing one between two people if you're looking for something fun to sip on and don't drink alcohol.
Complementary Bread- Warm, fresh, soft, perfect. The bread itself tasted amazing with a subtle hint of butter and salt. Its thin crust broke easily to reveal soft steamy interior which excited us. It acted as a perfect carrier for the two spreads that was provided alongside the bread; one of which was just butter, and the other was an herb-y compound butter spread which I loved.
French Onion Soup- Flavor-dense, savory, salty. This soup was tasty and is a great option to share for two. The onions were caramelized very well and they were so tender and sweet. The soup was honestly a bit too salty but if that happens, I'd recommend dipping some of the complementary bread to help balance it out a bit.
Beef Carpaccio: Tasty, unique, variety of textures, quick bites. The carpaccio had a combination of crunchy, chewy, creamy, and tenderness. There are so many different tastes and textures with this dish it is a very unique eating experience. The capers were a nice touch also.
Roasted Broccolini: Snappy. There isn't much to be said about the Broccolini. It was tasty and roasted well. It wasnt overly roasted so it was limp and it wasn't so raw where it was crunchy. Admittedly it could've used a bit more salt. Be careful of the peppers, they were a little hot.
Chipotle Cheddar Mac & Cheese: Creamy, milky, rich, heavy. The Mac and Cheese was so tasty and was very fun to eat alongside the steak. The toasted bread crumbs layered above the mac and cheese was a nice contrast to the soft and creamy texture of the rest of the dish. The flavor was on point and it didn't feel overly milky so it was very much palatable.
28oz Bone-In New York Strip: Juicy, tough. The steak was nice and thick and the sear was decent. There was enough for two to share and I generally am a big eater. This and a smaller side like the broccolini or mac and cheese are a perfect main entree to share for two. The steak was definitely on the rare end despite requesting medium-rare and the sear could be done better as the crust was scant. Considering this is a steakhouse, I would've expected a bit more for spending almost $100 on a New York Strip.
-- Truffle Poached Lobster "Over-the-top": The lobster was tender and tasty. Unfortunately, I would not recommend ordering this as it feels very much overpriced for what you get. It can be divided into two bites and doesn't really add much to the steak.
Creme Brulee: Creamy, crispy, sweet. The creme brulee had an absolutely beautiful crust on top which was topped with some fruits that added some nice heterogeneity to an otherwise homogeneous tasting and textured item. This was a delicious dessert to end the night with and I would recommend it if you're looking for a sweet treat.
Overall, the experience was amazing. The server and staff were respectful, patient, and kind and fun to interact with. The environment made for a very special and intimate dining experience. Most of the sides and dishes were very tasty but the steak was underwhelming and left for more to be desired which isn't a very good thing for a steak house. Overall, I'd recommend this place and would suggest maybe being more picky with the steak than I was if that is something that matters very much to you.
