For Your Next Group Meal, Head to a Brewery | Eater

"Located in Brunswick, this brewery impressed a visiting party of seven adults and two toddlers with its excellent beer—Wings, a New England IPA, being a particular favorite—and its wood-fired pizza. The expansive outdoor space, varied seating options, and lineup of food trucks (which provided barbecue and sides while the group waited) create a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere where kids can run on the grass and be loud; there can be a wait for pizzas on busy summer Saturday nights. The combination of quality beer and a casual, accommodating setup makes it an unexpectedly great option for group dinners." - Stephanie Wu

The flight deck, which was originally the Marine shooting gallery for the former base there is a super cute space. It has a lot of indoor/outdoor options, including space heaters for all of the outside areas. They even have mini covered picnic tables with heating, etc. You order food at a kiosk and beer from an attendant in the main bar area. The portion sizes for the pizza are filling. The salads are also tasty. They have a great beer selection with their stuff on tap and a few can options like the amazing sour I drank today. Dogs are welcome on leash in ALL areas, as long as they’re well-behaved. A great use / name for part of the former base! My father-in-law was stationed here and met his wife of nearly 55 years at the base ❤️ , which warmed my heart to see their “buy a Vet a beer” option that allows you to buy a beer now for a Vet later!! Worth a stop in if you are passing through or local!

I was very happy with the beer selections I've tried and look forward to visiting for another chance at sampling their offerings. The pizza choices are not your standard fare, but are instead unusual or even gourmet. The atmosphere is a pleasing aviation theme, though sparse, giving a slightly industrial feel. Bottom line, great beer and food.

Google
It's hard to recommend for the wait times alone. There were quite a lot of people here when we arrived, but even still, nearly an hour to receive our food (two pizzas and a salad) is entirely unreasonable. If we knew it would take this long we would have gone somewhere else. I noticed a fixture on the wall where a light would presumably signal an estimated order wait time, but this was not in use for whatever reason. Even once we received our food it was just, okay. The pizza was okay, the salad was okay, my father ordered a couple beers in the time it took us waiting and said those were okay too. The floors are dirty as well. I was constantly stepping on cheese and other discarded food. Gross. My favorite thing was the themeing. The history of this building is actually quite interesting and the decorations were cute. But the novelty didn't really make up for it I feel.

Really great brewery and place to socialize. Big place with lots of places to hang out, inside and out. We tried the Plane Beer and Sour Tower. Liked the Sour Tower so much bought a 4 pack.

Flight Deck Brewing is hands-down one of the best breweries in Maine. The atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming, and uniquely tied to Brunswick’s history. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and always make you feel at home. There’s a great sense of community here, with frequent events, food trucks, and a dog-friendly patio that make it a perfect gathering spot for locals and visitors alike. It’s clear that Flight Deck is more than just a place to get a beer and Pizza, it’s a cornerstone of the Brunswick community. Highly recommend a visit (or several)!

Google
Very cool location and great food and beer. Definitely awkward ordering process where you purchase your beer and have to walk over to another building to order pizza. Also you have to ask a lot of questions, they don’t seam proud enough of their brews or interested in talking about their beers. Even when no one else is waiting. Felt like I was interrupting staff’s conversations each time I walked up to purchase a beer. A little hospitality and pride would double sales.

Google
Great vegan options served here at one of my favorite places to eat in Brunswick. Super cool aircraft features throughout the restaurant. Although I never had alcohol here, there are many different options available. The team is very friendly, and they usually have a live band performing in the summer time. This restaurant is a great spot to watch the airshow as well when the Thunderbirds or the Blue angels come.

Google
I can’t remember a better pizza I’ve had. Ever. I’m sure I have, but this pizza is special! The crust, sauce, and cheese are about as perfect as you can get. The only critique I would have is that the pepperoni, though good, was not up to par with the rest of the ingredients. Amazing pizza! Also, the Subhunter was a top notch west coast style IIPA.

Yelp
Only my second time at The Flight Deck and it was wonderful again! I came in with 4 other people around 4:00pm on Sunday 3/16/25. We all ordered our own beers and the 2 people pouring were great! I was having a hard time deciding which IPA to get - they have 4! And the person helping me was knowledgeable and very helpful. A few of us wanted merch and the person was so kind and patient while we tried a couple things on, asked about other things and kept them from taking orders. We were hurrying, but we never felt rushed. Beer is great, atmosphere is awesome. Small space but so light and bright! Highly recommend!

Yelp
We needed a spot to stop in on our trek towards Acadia. I saw that Flight Deck had good ratings and we decided to stop in. The location is right near an airport so very on theme with Top Gun vibes. I was a big fan of the fact that you could pay for a veteran's beer. My friend and I are both daugthers of veterans so this was a sweet thing to see. They did not do beer flights (missed opportunity lol). However, they had an option to do half pours. As an indecisive beer drinker, I chose to do two half pours. We walked up to the counter and sampled a few beers before placing our order. The service was very friendly and they answered all our questions. We sat inside to begin with as it was raining, but our party of 5 felt a little cramped so we decided to move outside. There were these cute little huts that had a covering, lights, and a heater over a picnic table. These were perfect for our group to drink and play games. We hung out here for a few hours and had a blast!

Yelp
Flight deck is a special place offering great beer options, friendly & smiling staff and an enjoyable vibe. Parking is never a problem and there's tons of outdoor seating. Yesterday, there was live music as well as an 'adopt a puppy' event with staff on site from the local animal shelter. The BBQ food truck (Rollin Smoke) and Flight Deck pizza kitchen were abuzz with hungry patrons. Families were enjoying the corn hole games. Flight Deck is located on the former Naval Air Station's firing range. It is across the street from a local NAS museum. Great place for military buffs. This place checks all the boxes if you want to get out into the community.

Yelp
We ordered a bunch of pizza's, all at different times. The dough is very good. I feel the toppings could be more generous. To pay $23 for a pizza and have about 5-6 slices of pepperoni on it is a bit under generous. I would have liked a little more as far as all toppings. Sauce, cheese and veggies and or meats. The service is self serve and that's fine but all the more reason to add more toppings to the delicious dough. Thanks!

Yelp
This is a family and group friendly brewery that serves up year round round. One of many converted spaces on the old Brunswick naval air station Order your beer at the main bar. Lots of choices, most very good, informed and friendly servers, and tastes available. They brew right on site, and you walk thru the brewing area when you enter. You can take your beer to an inside table, or head outside to their awesome space. Picnic tables with heaters, covered tables, and a kids area for playtime, fenced. Lots of room! Better yet, you can go across the 20 ft walkway and order your oven-fired pizza. Then choose your spot inside or out to enjoy both beer and pizza! Mixed crowd, younger folks and families, great vibe, prompt and friendly service, excellent wood fired pizzas, not too expensive. Special events and the occasional band! And,you can buy a beer for a vet and they can claim it whenever. Check it out. It's a locals favorite.

Yelp
Beer & Pizza....what more could you want? Flight Deck Brewing wood fired pizzas. Dog friendly place. This is in a separate covered area but pizzas can be eaten throughout. Inside brewery, outside, to go. You will receive a text when ready. They now have an estimated wait time color coding chart. Gluten free crust option. Breadstick pizza was my fave. If you have an electric car they have two free charging stations.

Yelp
Awesome brewery that was on an unexpected route. Come see this place, right on the flight line in a "hangar "! The beers are phenomenal and the staff is super cool. They support veterans, and if you feel generous you can buy a brew for one!

Yelp
I love coming to flight deck -- a down-to-earth brewery on an airfield with plentiful outdoor seating (heat lamps in winter!) and rotating food truck offerings is basically my idea of perfection. I just love the ambiance of the place, it's all nice service and families and dogs and planes. Even better is the food is actually above average -- their pizzas are legitimately good (as a New Yorker I say this) and the BBQ truck that comes on weekends is generous and tasty. But most importantly: the beer. So, funny enough, Flight Deck seems to focus on IPAs and pale ales and sours, which are the three types of beers I'm least fond of. I'm always scanning their menu for a port or pilsner and there's usually at least ONE thing I'll enjoy on tap. Recently they had a pleasant Czech-style Pilsner id totally get again, and I always enjoy their Little Grey Corvette grisette. All of this to say, I'm usually more excited to be here than I am to drink their beer but that's fully a -me- problem. And I mean I keep coming back each time anyhow so maybe it's not a problem at all.

Yelp
** I'm writing this quickly as not to allow this food and bev experience to grow any bigger in my brain, I figure, it I release it now, it'll be on it's merry way and far away from me. Early pleasantries morphed into the real them after I just wanted a menu to hold - not getting the app QSR code nor going into a secret room I couldn't see across campus where they had a paper menu. So they're holding my card upfront (real POS, swipe and return to customer) so I couldn't order a pizza in the back without my card, so back I went to retrieve and close out there - and back across campus again because "it's the Point of Sale Systems fault" here's an idea, figure it out. Flight Decks front and back of the house are where the nobody's roam and feel like they are somebody's, but as night closes in and the registers aren't ringing the new visitors jingle, it's a subtle hint, then they (those behind the wood) well, their faces turn down - take that sourpuss along with you. I'm mid chew, all I wanted to do was just leave as the chuckle patch did what chuckle patches do - but out of a small circular port of call window before they figured out that opening the door would be better for their visual stupidity - for me that is. This is an important point because the unfriendliness never heeded way to giving me any feeling of being welcome - my business appreciation never was a thought. So it really doesn't matter much about the food, does it?

Yelp
Easy access and great ambiance! Beers and pizza were tasty. We got a flight of beer and enjoyed the brisk cool weather of Maine. They have cornhole and some other games for you to enjoy, as well a tv inside mounted on the wall which had college football on it. Would go back in a heartbeat!

Yelp
I think my picture below says it all....so yummy! It's called "The Flying Dirty". Pepperoni, parm and honey! Incredible.

Yelp
Great atmosphere! One of my favorite breweries I have visited. The pizza and the house salad were great, fresh, and flavorful.

Yelp
Flight deck brewing is the best place to go for great pizza and amazing beers. Indoors or outdoors plus trivia on Thursday's leaves something for everyone.

Yelp
WOW! Flight Deck sure is an awesome brewery! Hubby found it and surprised me with a really cool find. I thought the concept was unique and they truly went all out with the flight theme. From flight gear decor and Top Gun references to propeller taps and clever brew names. And let's not forget maybe the coolest detail, Flight Deck is located in the former Small Arms Firing Range on the re-developed Brunswick Naval Air Station (now Brunswick Landing). I absolutely loved it! On to the beer! I enjoyed 2 flights (when in Rome) during our time here. The strawberry IPA was delicious! The dark Mexican lager and English style Porter were also on top for me. Hubby enjoyed the grisette and the white ale. The outdoor seating was awesome! Patio picnic tables, Adirondack chairs, fire pits, heated huts, covered pavilion just to name a few. Hubby and I sat in Adirondack chairs and watched the sunset. It was a wonderful night with perfect weather, beer and company!

Yelp
If you have kids you should come here. If you do not have kids and don't want to feel like you've been teleported to the inside of a bouncy castle on a 10-year old's birthday, you should not come here. The beer is pretty good, the pizza is pretty good (both better at Foundation imo), but holy moly, it's insanity here. It's not hard to understand why, lots of younger families have moved to the area, parents want beer, kids want pizza. All well and good, but we're talking like whole little league teams and there is usually ZERO supervision. That should not have to fall on the staff, but nonetheless, I went with my elderly parents and they were almost knocked over several times by kids running through the tap room for the entire time we were. Again, if you have kids and like letting them run free at breweries while you drink, this is definitely your place.

Yelp
This is a great out of the way hang out spot. When you enter you walk past the tanks of beer that are brewed on site. It sets the right tone along with the building that looks like an empty airplane hanger. There is a tent outside of the bar, perfect for a pre-wedding family party or a birthday party. This back area has picnic tables and bags games. They better make more beer because they ran out at 8:00. They could definitely sell more if they can make more. Overall, a fun place to have a locally made beer.
google avatar

Amy V.

Yelp
The beer. The atmosphere. The location. Now they add in a beautiful copper wood firing rig for PIZZA?! Oh my lanta!!! We ordered the "Flying Dirty" which by looks is just a "standard" 'roni pie. But....it's far from standard. This is the best thing since sliced bread. Every piece of this pie is locally sourced. Plus?! IT HAS HONEY ON IT!!! Honey! On PIZZA!!!! I'm so here for it. YUM.

Sara S.

Yelp
Great selection of brews. Pizza was good but despite the fancy names they were pretty basic ingredients.

Yelp
My wife and I were on a week long road trip along the coast of Maine and after we checked into our hotel, we walked over to this nearby brewery. We wondered why it was called "Flight Deck", but it turns out it was nearby an executive airport. All of their beers were named after a flight team. The line was very long to get a beer, or else it would have been 5 stars. I took my two IPAs (I ordered 2, since the wait was so long) We sat outside and talked to some of the people around us on the outside picnic tables. They have a third vendor that made pizzas in their cool oven that looked really good. Worth a couple of beers if you are nearby.

Juliette C.

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere! We brought our friends here who were visiting from the Bay Area, and who also work at a brewery! They were super impressed with the vibe of the venue and really appreciated the friendly staff. We ordered a couple pizzas which were genuinely super good. We also were able to bring our two dogs along, which was also great. Highly recommend :)
google avatar

Josh M.

Yelp
This was a great stop on the trip! Really good beers and delicious food! The 2 guys working there were awesome as well!

Lance B.

Yelp
Atmosphere is great.. Food is limited.. We wanted BBQ however the event they had during the day consumed most of it.. Must have been good.. We will definitely be back..
google avatar

Yelp
Pizza was good but overpriced. Customer service is less than ok. It's close to us but not our go to place. The first time we came here, we left without ordering anything as it stunk. They do make their own beer here but it's dirty. The pizza gets made in the building across the way. I don't see the high rating.
google avatar

Rianna R.

Yelp
Got there just as it opened and enjoyed the chill atmosphere -- a good number of people trickled in, but there's tons of space inside (open doors/walls) and outside (including a tented area for shade). Decor is on the nose without being kitschy, and overall it's just a cool space with a good vibe. We started with a flight to see what we wanted and had a tough choice picking which ones to go with for a full pour! We ended up picking the V Formation (white ale) and Sea Bee (blueberry Belgian blonde).
google avatar

J B.

Yelp
Their recent addition to DoorDash for their pizzas is a pleasant surprise. Their Pizza may be a little small for the price, but I'm not ordering things on DoorDash for the price. I order on DoorDash for the convenience and for the flavors I am looking for.

Sean M.

Yelp
This place has most fantastic sunsets streaming through the large windows (which roll open in the summer). Had great pre-Super Bowl wood fired pizzas and hand crafted beer and cider. The "Light The Fires" beer has a soft spicy bite and the cider was perfect for a seasonally warm February Sunday afternoon. Great music playing in the background. Very relaxing! Service was awesome at the taps and the pizza area!

Yelp
Flight Deck Brewing is a wonderful addition to Brunswick and it's location is perfect in my opinion. When the base closed, there were many concerns that the base would remain lifeless and empty...Flight Deck to the rescue!!! This review rating is for the average of my entire experience - rounded up to 5 stars. Staff - whether you interact with the staff here or at any of the Maine brewfests they may be attending, they are down to earth, educated in the beer making process and just nice fun people. Very welcoming an appreciative of people stopping to enjoy the beer and their company. Location - as I have stated, it's perfect. Plenty of parking, very easy to find. And I LOVE how they preserved the Navy History. It means so much to me and my family, that their identity will be forever tied to BNAS. Atmosphere - FUN and casual - for all ages. It's a place to socialize, go on a date, go there for mini reunions, go there to play games...all the while enjoying delicious beers. They have plenty of games for you to chose from while you are there, even in the winter. In the summer, they open up the big garage doors and it opens up the the fun patio with corn hole and picnic tables. They do also put up tents for the really sunny days as well. Food -there is a food truck attached is a yummy pub menu. The poutine and burgers were delicious The beer - it's good. It's unique in some cases. They do not lack flavor that's for sure. With that being said, some of the more floral flavors are really strong and may not be for everyone. I loved the Stout and this is Not Your Captain Speaking. They had a collab beer they did with Black Pug and it was decent as well. I love the blueberry beer that's associated with the blue angels. It's not sweet like some other local beers. It's delicious. They usually have a dozen beers on tap for tasting they also have cooler where you can purchase beer to go. They have awesome swag for purchase as well. I highly recommend this place if you're in the area, doing a beer or history tour.

Katie M.

Yelp
First, my husband was a P-3 pilot for 26 years...so this place warms our hearts. He even found a friend's flight suit on the wall :) Second, we absolutely loved the logo (P-3) and all the nods to Naval Aviation & antisubmarine warfare. Third, the beer & pizza are really good. Authentic wood-fired in "Hangar 18". The atmosphere is really fun, open air or inside options, games & small dining huts...our weather wasn't great, but I imagine on a sunny afternoon this is a terrific family place!
google avatar

Yelp
Super fun brewery. Excellent lay out and concept. Great atmosphere. Great beers and ciders!

Yelp
Very happy to update my review to 5 stars. In the years since I wrote the original, the beer has gotten much better. We had a great time today. Beer was good, pizza was good, bar staff was helpful. The pizza truck didn't have any cutlery available, which was a problem because we were with little kids who need their pizza cut, but I reached out via FB messenger to give them some feedback and they said they'd fix it so hopefully that happens. Very family friendly place. Will definitely be back.
google avatar

Jeffrey T.

Yelp
Great hometown brewery with lots of varieties of beer including for sale to take or drink right at the deck. We love the pilsners and seasonal beers. Wood fired pizza available outdoors, too.
google avatar

Sheri T.

Yelp
Great craft beers with yummy pizza selections. Variety of seating - hi-tops, tables, inside/outside and covered pods. It's a must see. Try it, you'll like it.
google avatar

Matt G.

Yelp
Ample space, open air, covered spots to sit at the main bar--reserve yourself what looks to be a 4-seat picnic table that is covered should the weather turn. Pizza is available and delicious. The beer selection is outstanding always with a legendary lineup that friends tell me only gets better as the seasons progress. Family friendly but also a place to bring your business partner to chat about opportunities or some old friends to catch up. Whatever you are doing, do whatever you want, just order yourself some beers, order a pizza and let 'er fly bud!
google avatar

Justin B.

Yelp
Nestled back in the old military base, with old military aircraft scattered about, you'll find the gem known A's Flight Deck Brewing. These guys are one of my top five personal favorite breweries in the state. They have a good selection of beers on tap as well as canned from ales to IPAs to darks. They also have a food truck onsite that has some amazing food and a ton of indoor and outdoor seating. Given the current pandemic, they also sell some cool 'Maine specific' mask! If you don't want to venture out, they have you covered there too. They offer delivery within the area when you order online (minimum required, but well worth it given how tasty the stuff is).
google avatar

Yelp
I wish we would have found this brewery sooner than we did while on vacation. Out of the breweries we visited, this was easily one of my favorites. First of all - I absolutely loved the theme. What a way to take what is there and run with it. We visited on a Thursday night and each had a flight. I liked all 4 beers that I had. All the beers had names that went with the flight theme. I really enjoyed the sour that I had. When we went back on Friday night, I ordered a pint of just the sour - it was that good! Both days we were there, it was raining so we didn't get to check out the outdoor space but it looked amazing! I would definitely spend more time here if I was in the area. They had a food truck on Friday night that my friend got some chips and guac from. She said it was delicious. There seemed to always be something going on at the brewery. We played trivia Thursday night and there was to be live music on Friday night (although we didn't stay for that). Great beer. Great space. I would definitely stop in again if I was in the area.
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
Good environment, decent brew. Bearded prick cashier (no wait staff) is the only reason we'd never come back. EVER.
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
Pretty great place and a nice way to bring life to the NAS. Grab a beer, a snack from the food truck and then check out the P-3 sitting across the street. A nice outdoor sitting area including sun and shaded spots. And, it's dog friendly! I enjoyed the selection of beer and they have some very cool items for sale.
google avatar

John Q.

Yelp
We stopped here on a very busy trivia night. We were passing through and simply wanted a pizza to go. First visit but pizza highly recommended by close friend. Worked our way through the crowd and found the spot to order. The gentleman taking our order could not have been nicer. Explained their process and how they source local Maine ingredients. Wood fired pizza in minutes due to high oven temperature. We ended eating the whole pizza in our car. Outstanding in every way. We will definitely return in the future.
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
They had a great selection of beers. Most breweries in Maine I feel have 8 different selections of IPA's or other hoppy beers. Flight deck offered a really nice dark Mexican lager and Czech lager for us non IPA fans. very family friendly and the bartenders we had were awesome. Their wood fire pizza is pretty damn good, second favorite. Check out the wings at the BBQ food truck. Brined in pickle then smoked, deep fried just before serving.
google avatar

Ricky Z.

Yelp
Maine is not short for breweries, but this was one of the favorites we stopped at on our trip up the coast. The beers we tried were all good, but the atmosphere and venue and are really what make it stand out. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, along with a pizza food truck people were raving about. The aviation theme was all pretty cool without being too kitschy. If I lived in the area, it would be a regular hang. Only downside was there were a ton of mosquitoes outside where we sat and got eaten up pretty good, so bring bug spray!

Beth M.

Yelp
Great spot! Decent beer, cool merch, wood fired pizza!! Toots ice cream and dog friendly. Fun crowd for a Saturday afternoon. We will be back!!
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
One of their really friendly staff members will greet you and ask what you'd like with a smile. They'll talk beer as much as you want or don't want. I was here on a Thursday at lunchtime so it wasn't crazy busy, but I bet this place is fun on a weekend evening. Their outdoor space is awesome and the overhead doors provide lots of ventilation and light. Try the Callsign Cactus for an interesting spin on an IPA. The Wings NE IPA is excellent.
google avatar

Todd R.

Yelp
Who would have thought an indoor small arms range could have become a brew pub?! Kudos to these guys for having the vision to see this through. Despite the concrete and industrial feel, the place is surprisingly welcoming and warm. We ordered the beer flights so that we could get a sample of their offerings. Some were better than others but I am sure that is a personal preference... I really liked the P-3 ale. The only significant problem with this place is the lack of food service, but they have creatively solved that by inviting food trucks to join them. A great idea that works really well!!
google avatar

Beth C.

Yelp
Awesome selection of craft beers, with guest rotating tap. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The outside seating area is open and welcoming. The food truck from Cook's is the perfect way to get a bite to eat while you enjoy the brews. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Steven B.

Yelp
The Beer. The Beer. Great selection. Tried two different IPA's and a sour. They were fantastic. They were busy but the staff were awesome. Our group had three different pizzas. No leftovers to be had. The little private huts looked cool. Hope to be back soon.
google avatar

Eddie M.

Yelp
Great space right at the airport! The beer selection was diverse and of great quality, and iIt also looked like they were setting up a great canopied lawn with lights being strung up, but they were still assembling when I was there so I can't speak to what it ended up looking like. All in all, a great spot right in Brunswick if you're in town and or driving up or down the coast.

J L.

Yelp
Great ambiance and good beers. Their outdoor seating it really cool as is their wood fired pizza tent area.
google avatar

Tammy V.

Yelp
A new pizza truck at Flight deck. Now bullets to beer has pizza too! Locally sourced we chose the Flying Dirty and a hard cider. Ate outside on an old navel base transformed. The beer here is always worth it! Now this pizza with fresh local ingredients and a drizzle of hot honey. Oh honey... good stuff here!
google avatar

Yelp
This is a very cool place. Its rather lonely among a field of statued airplanes, but the space is industrially lovely. Entering the tasting room takes you into an all concrete structure with wide open garage type doors allowing light to flood in. Sucks during sunset periods because the sun might blind you. The menu is written on a chalkboard with a strong red emphasis on their hibiscus. Of course, being the non beer drinker, I go for anything unconventional in beer. Note that my favorite beer is peanut butter beer. I got a little glass of it and enjoyed a long slow afternoon with my friends and completely forgot about the beer. Granted it was a nice light beer, perfect for my dislike of bitterness, but lacking in any strong fruity undertones that I expected. Try it out, its a neat place, but I don't know much about beer so I don't have much to say about it.
