Lovely bakery with walled garden. We had delicious coffee, matcha and cakes. Very friendly staff and wonderfully skilled barista 🎃

Excellent little bakery if a little chaotic! Small Sussex-based chain using local flour. Prices reasonable for quality, for example a salad and quiche for lunch was £9 95. Bread loaves delicious, around £4.50. Counter gets busy , handling cafe and takeaway customers..

Cake was not dry, very moist with the icing which was a bit overly sweet. Very lovely looking bread although didn’t try. Turmeric cookie was interesting flavoured, dry, well spiced (not spicy though) got better the more you tasted it. 7/10 for the cookie but depends on your taste - some people would rate it lower. Goes well with cup of tea (which is loose leaf).

We have had lovely lunches here, and bought some really tasty bread to take away with us. Staff were happy to share with us the recipe for the salad that we thought was delicious.

What a beautiful cafe! Loved the decor and relaxing music (felt like I was in a spa!). The fresh bread and sheer selection of produce was incredible. The croissants tasted fresh and flaky. The raspberry and white chocolate cake (pictured) was amazing too! (Only minus one star for being overpriced - even for lewes! - unfortunately.) I will certainly be back to visit the garden though.

Some of the most exciting cakes and pastries I have seen anywhere. The gals working in the shop delightful and kind . Always feel welcome. A credit to the town . Can't praise too much. Thanks

I absolutely love this cute little place! I had the Raspberry and Macha cake (vegan) and Broccoli/Quinoa (lots of other ingredients) salad and honestly all of it was perfect. So many places have food that is underflavoured and uninteresting and really gives a bad name for real food meals. So thank you guys for making amazing tasting food and you'll always get me onside with using Macha ☺️

Yelp
I stopped off here for bread on the way down Lewes high street. The lady who served me was delightful and the aubergine salad next to her looked delicious. I mean as did everything, including the guy behind the counter, but really I wanted to buy everything. At home I was so impressed I had to post a 5 star review. Their bread tastes wonderful and is so flavourful. I already have a warm summer's day plan in mind revolving around buying a picnic worth of food from Flint Owl Bakery and sprawling over the race course. Perfect.

Yelp
I first tried Flint Owl Bakery bread in Farm Cafe in Brighton. For me, it was the perfect bread, so when I found out that they had opened a shop in Lewes I couldn't wait to visit. Flint Owl Bakery is based in Glynde in East Sussex. Here, they produce all their bread by hand, using little or no yeast, no preservatives or additives of any kind, and using very traditional processes. They specialise in sourdoughs but also do bloomers, wholemeal and granary loafs, and seasonal loafs depending on the time of year. As well as bread, they do a number of cakes and buns, and actually have a coffee shop on site although I didn't try it on this occasion. The bread truly is the best I have ever eaten. Bread can nowadays come with a bad reputation, but if you eat good quality bread like this without all the hidden extras, I don't see how it can possibly do you harm. The only downside is that it tastes so good it's impossible to stop at a slice or two! I would recommend the fig and walnut and the sea salt and rosemary. I plan to work my way through the other varieties asap. Go, buy, stock up your freezer, and never buy supermarket bread ever again!

Yelp
Coffee quality has dropped precipitously in the past year or so. The bakery is great and the cakes still good but the quality of the coffees is generally poor and very bland. The flat white and cappuccino are not recommended. Flint Owl used to be the best place for coffee in Lewes, now there are other much better places.

Yelp
Terrible service. Rude staff. Stale food. Overpriced. Such a shame. A quality bakery is much needed in East Grinstead but unfortunately this one fails miserably. Tsk. Tsk.

Yelp
Best tasting and smelling bakery I've ever been to. The staff were extremely polite and attentive despite the busy lunch rush. I wish I'd ordered more.

Yelp
I almost hate to put this out there and spoil a good thing... Flint Owl Bakery is the lair of Vincent Talleu, youtube bread baking phenom. I'm guessing he's sleeping whenever you're awake, and vice versa, so you'll never see him, but check out his youtube vids on bread (and other subjects) and you will understand why you are eating the best bread of your life. Lucky lucky Lewes

Yelp
Absolutely outstanding bakery. Slightly minimalist vibe - high quality breads, coffee, tea and cakes and that's about it - which is perfect for this bakery. They do these better than anyone else in Lewes, the staff are really friendly and always have some new cake to try. Brownies are especially good. Small area to sit in, but bright and very welcoming. Flint Owl has really raised the bar in Lewes (it's easily on a par with the best of the London bakery/cafes) and sells great teas and coffee to take away too. Highly recommended.
