"For the past few months, the Rockefeller Center’s Lower Plaza has been under construction...Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace...Yes, Rockefeller Center now has a roller skating rink. Its floors are made of tile, its walls are mirrored, and smack-dab in the middle of it all is a hot-pink-and-white logo. Off to the side is a locker room, collaged with black-and-white images of roller skaters past and present, and blue-suede and red-wheeled skates are available to rent. A food truck serves up pizza, and upbeat music is blasting throughout...It will be open to the public starting April 15." - Elise Taylor

Was never a big roller or ice skater, but I will say that if you're into either Rockefeller Center, along with Wollman Rink in Central Park, (for ice skating) are two of the ultimate places to experience floating around a rink. My wife and son had a great time until he fell. All is well though, Flippers was quick to bandage him up!

I had a really good time. Im glad I came to experience this “new” attraction at least once. Im not sure if I would be in a rush to come back considering everything involved. I arrived a little after 10pm which gave perfect weather. I couldn’t imagine skating in this non shaded area during the day. It was much busier than expected but nothing too congested to hinder a fun time. Pros: Friendly staff stylish smooth skates to rent Easy to use lockers for your belongings Seamless check in process Live dj Convenient restrooms Smooth floor surface to skate on, its not wood! Positive energy Cons: Tourist attraction, lots of people Small rink, if you are a pro skater this place is great because you can groove in place. If you are a speed skater, its too crowded to fully have that room and flexibility you need to stretch out. Pricey; almost $40/hr to skate This place opened in April, its May and the rental skates look worn already, the women’s restroom had a stall out of order… it was taped up and some of the lockers were out of order and not labeled as such. Ive never been here when it was an ice rink but the revamp seems cool. I wish the dj played more Top 40 music, it definitely was a kinfolk, house party Brooklyn energy. I believe the dj and her friends were burning sage in the air. Ppl were dancing tho. Considering Usher revamped this place, where was the Atlanta music? Either way I did have fun! Lots of pros but too many cons for me to want to hurry back again. I wouldn’t discourage anyone from coming but I also wouldn’t say you had to come here neither. I hope this helps!

This was such a fun surprise to see in Rockefeller center! There is a skate rink during the summer and now a skate store celebrating the sport of roller derby. The store has updated 90’s track suits, T-shirt’s , stickers, and roller gear such wheels, bearings and skates! They have clothing for infants and children. I loved the inviting neon lights and the eye-catching giant skate wheel. This is an ideal addition to the accompany the Rockefeller skate rink! The store also features “Flippers NYC” gear. This is a great place to shop for a unique NYC souvenir or gift!

Keepin it real out here at Rockefeller Center Couldn't afford to go to the ice skating normally, got invited by a friend to the Flipper's opening night, felt very special and had to go. It was a lot of fun, not just the roller skating itself but doing it in the heart of NYC inside an open rink. I didn't stop skating for a single minute throughout the night because I wanted to get the full experience. Def check it out.

A really fun activity to do while in New York City with an exquisite ambiance. It isn’t too expensive and the skates are in good shape. When we went, it was a little crowded, but not terrible, and there was still plenty of freedom when skating. Would definitely recommend!

10/10. Great music and vibes all round. Top tip - there are free white frames around for people who struggle. The kids (13 & 15) loved it. This was included as part of our sight seeing pass. Staff were very friendly and funny. The DJ was playing some great tunes.

I was really excited to try this place because it’s new and there was a lot of hype around it. I’m from out of town and an avid skater. The location is beautiful, lit up at night and in a really nice area of Manhattan. The staff was pretty friendly and I like the locker rooms. I can see why this attracts a lot of people. I went twice during my vacation. It is $20 for an hour if you have your own skates. But the rink is pretty small—during crowded times it was pretty difficult to skate around comfortably. The music was not loud at all which was a bummer. The surface is not the best also, but I got used to it. Overall this rink is fun but not great—honestly it feels weird having so many people watching from above. Also— most of the referees I saw seemed like new skaters, so I’m not sure how much of help they’d be if someone got injured. Still, I would go back! **the picture I posted is not the night I skated, there was an event this night so I had to come back the following day***

It's been years since I last roller skated and I really enjoyed myself. This is the same rink that is an ice skating rink in the winter months. They also have a dj and stage where I heard they will have performances throughout the summer. I'm sad I missed Ushers performance the day before. The dj on Saturday was playing all the great jams 💃🏿! The rink is not on wood floors like the rinks back in the day (the slippery floors, remember that?!) LOL The line wasn't too long and you get 1 hour to skate. Enjoy!
