Flippin Burger

I’ve passed by this spot a bunch of times and wanted to give it a try. Who doesn’t like a good burger right? Anyways, the place is clean and the food came out pretty fast, but ….the burger was just okay and the fries really reminds me of supermarket frozen fries. Yeah, not even fresh cut and seasoned. Just plain shoestring fries. Pretty disappointing for sure. On another note the staff is outstanding. I understand that they can only work with what they’ve got so I don’t blame them for the food. I did witness their staff treat a homeless guy with respect and dignity when he walked in with $5 trying to buy some food. A customer saw what was happening and offered to pay any difference so the guy can have something to eat. The guy wasn’t aggressive, or trying to cause any problems and waited outside for his food after placing his order. One worker brought the food out to him and a few minutes later a different worker went outside and gave him a drink. The employees treated the man with understanding and compassion.

Order of fries can easily feed 2 adults. Grill cheese we got was small but tasty good size for kids. Ladies working the front were awesome and on their A game. Very satisfied.

Really nice place with the original atmosphere of an American burger place! Fits great in the neighborhood. Food was absolutely delicious! The only not good thing? Does not have a public restroom to wash your hands before lunch so... have hand cleaning wipes with you. Oh, another thing that I though was weird is that they don't issue receipts for orders higher than USD 20,00.

MAY 2025: Loaded tater tots were amazing! Bathroom is a sight (but a good one) with graffiti walls and koi fish painted on the floor. Don't let the graffiti fool you...it was spotless and well stocked.

Food was good not gonna fib on that - however service was not great. The guy that took our order was cool, and patient as we had a big order he minded his table manners when he helped bring over some soda. There were few things that just did not sit well with me though. There was a short Mexican guy (don’t start with I’m racist bs cause I am as Mexican as can be) that was so rude he yelled at a customer for taking part of their order before he said they could and then as we are eating at our table he comes over and starts reaching directly across everyone’s food multiple times to get the paper towel dispensers mind you all of them had napkins in them already so it wasn’t that it needed to be done right then. He was not at all courteous of what he was doing he had a nasty attitude and look on his face while interrupting our family meal. Lastly I was a bit surprised and disappointed that dine in service does not allow fountain drink refill. We spent about $200 on our food and drinks and could not have a refill we had to pay for a whole new cup- that to me is not service that will have me return.

I decided to head into the city to feel a little nostalgic, and even though I don't live far from Haight Street, I somehow had never noticed Flippin Burger before. I'm so glad I did this time. The prices were surprisingly good, and the burgers were delicious--one of those meals you keep thinking about for days afterward. It was a cold night, but that didn't stop me from ordering a strawberry milkshake. After one sip, I instantly regretted not getting two... so I went back and bought the Oreo milkshake too, and it was just as amazing. The service was really nice. Even though they get busy, the staff was helpful, fast, and friendly. Flip n Burger is definitely getting added to my San Francisco food list. I'll be back the next time I'm in the area!

While shopping along Haight Street, we came across Flippin Burger and decided to stop in. We grabbed a couple of hot dogs and tater tots, and the food was delicious -- it had that classic, old-school hot dog taste that really hit the spot. The place was open and comfortable, not crowded at all, and the prices were reasonable (especially for San Francisco). The vibe was relaxed, the service was quick, and everything tasted fresh. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the

Solid place for a quick burger and fries. The burger was good but the fries were nothing special. The restaurant was spacious and good for groups. We got our food quickly and had no complaints.

When our only meal was coffee and its 1pm, you know we were famished. We were in the area and my friend wanted to try this place so here we are. I got the Flippin burger no onions. Although the presentation was clean and simple, it reflected the on the taste as well. The meat patty was a tad dry and so was so was the burger itself. The fries were my favorite standard cut cooked to perfection. Service was great, food was mediocre.

This is a bright, rather anachronistic space on Haight Street, and we ducked in mainly to see if they had a bathroom. But the menu was inviting, and we were craving grilled cheese. We both ordered that, with fries. The sandwiches were meh, and fries were fine, but like fast food fries, nothing special. The space was bright and clean, and the service friendly. I'd consider going back and trying the beyond burger.

Please make a stop at Flippin Burger!! Their chocolate milkshake was devine!!! Service was fast, fresh, and friendly. The restaurant was clean and had a lot of seats. I wish we were more hungry to try more items but we will be back!

The skater theme of this place caught my eye. I love all the decor, including the VW bus front in the counter. Nice vibes. A few TVs. Nothing fancy, but well kept. My husband and I just came in here for a quick bite and to use the bathroom. Service was good. The ladies working were very nice and accommodating. Food came out quickly. I had garlic fries and my husband had a grilled cheese. Both were pretty simple. The grilled cheese is just American cheese, but it's well done for what it is. Fries were cooked perfectly and pretty garlicky. I think they use the bottled minced garlic, not fresh, but I didn't mind. It's pretty straightforward fast food, but it's done well and priced right, so can't complain!

We visited Flippin Burger for a quick lunch while hanging out in the area. The food was pretty good, and the prices are fair in comparison to other spots nearby. I will say that the fried chicken sandwich was alright, a bit oily and I did not like the coleslaw, but the chili cheese fries were good, and portions were good too. Customer service was quite friendly and efficient. Worth visiting if you're nearby & looking for a good-value sandwich or burger.

On my quest to find a good burger, this ain't it. While their garlic fries are worthwhile, the burger left too much to be desired. When it first came out, I didn't even see there was a burger patty in it. And honestly, I took me eating half the burger for me to actually hit meat. But at that point I realized that the burger actually tasted better without the meat at all. They do have one of the tastier burger sauces from all the places I've been. Look elsewhere for a perfect burger, unless you're vegetarian.

Great place to grab a quick affordable bite while walking around Haight Street. I had a Flippin' burger with cheese and avocado. The beef patty was very tasty and I also liked the buns. The lemonade was listed as fresh, but it tasted like Minute Maid. A popular joint, so there's wait time if crowded and it won't be easy to find a seat. Airy good vibes though, with most everyone enjoying their burgers, but they also have salads, hot dogs, fries or chicken!

Wow! Just fn WOW!!!!! So first in foremost I've spent 20+ years in hospitality... NO! F that! I alomost never leave 5***** star reviews! If I could give this place SIX I would! The guy "Sam," (if I'm not mistaken), that was working the front counter today, (Sun Oct 5), was phenomenal! As I was saying before, after so long in hospitality it doesn't take much for me to be annoyed or see something I don't like and save my few dollars and not eat or go elsewhere. That was not the case today! I told Sam that it was my first time there and simply asked him, "Hey! What do you recommend?" Without skipping a beat!!! Bro instantly turned and pointed to the burgers and was like, "HONESTLY! The burgers(.) (notice the 'PERIOD' on the end) he said it's the staple point, (obviously), but they're solid though. And then right after recommended the chicken sandwich I was looking at, that looked DELICIOUS, (I HATE CHICKEN, least favorite protein). But I randomly decided leaving goodfellas across the street after grabbing my leaves, today is the day I'm getting my burger that I've been craving! So I went with the burger. I recently been working out and cutting back on red meat tremendously, but I was like let's go with the burger and I'll come back for the sandwich. GOTTTTT DAMN!!! I wanted to CRY EATING THAT FN BURGER! I'm NOT AN INFLUENCER! But I stopped TWO BITES IN!!!! To record a potential review! No LIE! I thought I was gonna be slightly upset because I wanted one ingredient a certain way, that Sam was NICE ENOUGH to EXPLAIN TO ME.... WHY that may not be possible. I told him don't trip, run it! Well F ME! I SEE WHY! However they prepare it... hands off UNLESS YOU HAVE AN ALLERGY! TRUST ME! I was not looking forward to lettuce and tomato on my burger, (I just didn't see it, I didn't mind I love it, HELL HE MAY'VE even asked if it was fine and I was like yea. I ain't denying it. Plus I didn't wrap my leaf yet), but I'm glad it was there!!!! I almost bit a finger off eating that burger!!!! The BEST FN BURGER I'VE HAD. I can't remember one better than that! I can't! WTF!!! I'm mad that I didn't eat it right there, I'm mad I didn't get to it quicker when I did get home and took my time with some of the fries, (I just remembered I had). I'm really mad that I live so close! But dayum!!! Oh! And the young lady working with him was very sweet and attentive! Those are two individuals I would remember and hire in my establishment! Then I forgot the motivating factor for me going there was the fries I almost forgot to order. A friend and I was walking in the park one day to two young ladies sharing some tots, (after seeing the menu), I believe. And they smelled delicious from STEPS AWAY and looked just as good! So I'm looking forward to going back and trying the sandwich WITH the tots! Sam Great Job! And smooth upsell on the fries! Cause I would've been upset if forgot to order them. Even though I barely ate em, (YET!) OHHH!!!! I got two patties, Swiss, bacon, mushrooms. Just as it is!

Food was HOT, fresh and delicious. They definitely did not skimp out on the extra toppings when I asked for them. The cashier was very friendly even though I bugged her a few times for some extra things. Will definitely be back, happy I finally got to try this place.

Food is pretty good here. I got the Finger Lickin Fried Chicken sandwich. Had a decent sized piece of chicken on it. Bun was delicious and so was the slaw. Great sandwich overall. I also had the garlic fries, which were just ok. Felt like it was missing salt and all of our garlic ended up on the bottom of the basket for some reason. I'd still get them again though. Hoping to go back soon and actually try one of their burgers.

Quick and easy lunch, if that's what you want. This place is a good option. Located in the upper Haight and the price is actually very reasonable for the neighborhood and the city. I ordered flippin burger with fries, cheese and egg for $13.94 / not include tax and tip. Which I think is a fair pricing The burger itself was on the thin side but it was still juicy and tasty. Will cook to order but your burger will come to you medium if you don't specify. Pretty laid back shop

We stopped by recently for a quick lunch, and got a Flippin burger and a fried chicken sandwich. It was actually surprisingly cheap (for SF prices), with our meal totaling to ~20 bucks! There's a lot of seating inside as well, so you'll certainly be able to enjoy your meal inside. The chicken sandwich was super crispy, which I really enjoy in my sandwiches. The chicken itself wasn't the most juicy, and could have used a bit more flavoring, but overall, was very pleased with it! Same thing with the burger; could have a bit more seasoning, but overall had fresh ingredients and enjoyable. Very convenient and fast lunch spot if you're near Haight street shopping. Would recommend!

Love hitting up this place when I'm visiting The Haight for some garlic fries and a sandwich. Everything I've tried so far has been great. The fried chicken sandwich I had the other night was perfect.

The food and environment were excellent, along with the service, which was quick and easy. I recommend visiting this place if you enjoy quality food for a good price.

We took our Granddaughter to the Haight to sightsee and ate lunch here. Our hamburgers were unexpectedly high quality and excellent. My husband got his favorite - a hot dog with saurkraut and said it was excellent too.

I got the beyond burger, fries, and strawberry lemon, for a good price. I ended up bringing my own cheese, I wish they had vegan mayo another sauce so it wouldn't be so dry. I would come back for the prices and how close it is to the bus.

I'm not a religious man, with that said... thAnk you jeEeZZzus for this place. The buffalo chicken sandwich is beyond flavorful and as always, the fries... well... crispy, never soggy. The garlic fries are never overcooked or burnt. They are simply delicious. Every member of the team smiles and greets folks as they walk in and do what they can to enhance the dining experience of their guests. It is easy to see that they enjoy being there and taking care of others. Aside from the food being awesome, and the staff being equally as great, the restaurant's vibe is so chill it makes it a great place to unwind and have a beer with some tasty food after a long days work by yourself, or even better, with a group of friends. If anyone from the staff read this, thank you for elevating this beautiful city of ours by providing positive experiences to all lucky enough to visit and walk through your doors.

Food was good. Patty was dripping a lot which caused the bun to get soggy pretty quick. Fries were thin and crispy. Plenty of space to dine in. Service was quick on a weekday evening.

Wanted to grab food before going to the California Academy of Sciences and this spot wasn't too far away! It's in a nice cozy neighborhood with a lot of cute small businesses and a surprising amount of vegetarian restaurants. Prices haven't gone up in a while which was a nice detail and the restaurant is a fun casual family environment (they were playing Nickelodeon on the TV). Ordered a flippin burger and yaya's loaded tater tots. The burger was all right, a classic staple, but what I enjoyed the most was the tater tots. Huge portion, flavorful toppings, and could honestly be a meal on its own. Restroom was unfortunately out of order but hopefully that should get fixed soon. I also want to try their hot dogs / Philly cheesesteaks next time, a lot of different options! Service was great, staff was super nice and they let me try their different sauces which were really complementary to the meal.

I finally tried to is place and it is great! Yummy smash burgers, crispy fries and craveable chili cheese fries. Nice folks and a fun chill vibe. I was bummed when burgermeister left Cole valley but this place is better!

Horrible service ordered a Flippin burger as is which advertise lettuce, tomato, onion, and flipping sauce and paid extra to add grilled onions with a order of garlic fries and when received my burger it was literally was just a small cold burger patty and grilled onions...that's it!! I paid $17 on a meat patty and a bun!! When I tried to contact them, I was hung up on and tried 2 separate times and line was busy. So I tried to email customer service they were unable to accept emails at this time.

10/10 burgers and quick service! It's located right across the panhandle and around the neighborhood on Haight so easy to walk to for a good local burger. Garlic fries were crisp and tasty, the ingredients in the burgers were nice fresh, and juicy. Excited to come back and try the chicken sandwich and shakes. The only thing is that I ordered an extra patty which was phenomenal but my girlfriend who added on bacon only got 2-3 small thin slices of bacon. It's up charge for the extra patty was less than adding on bacon, so I would think they would add on a few more slices. But they were great regardless! The place got a cool skater, local CA burger joint style to it. Wished they could've wiped down the tables after people finished up. Itd be nice for restaurants to mind covid practices or at least be sanitary. Nice big windows to see the neighborhood walk past though.

The faux front of a VW bus is fun. The food is OK, if expensive, if not terribly expensive considering the mainly tourist clientele and this place's off-brand, off-kilter location. I was going to give it two more tries; but then I needed to move unexpectedly, pushing me too far away realistically to come here regularly and easily and, thus, obviating the need for those two more tries. But I had it in the back of my mind the first time I came. That it would get more tries and that that first time would be the first of at least three before I gave the place an honest Yelping. The shakes are very good. The fries should be better, but they're not bad. Why is this place here again? Who knows, and somehow, it has survived. The interior is cheerful and bright, if not downright fun, even at night. And on Haight Street, that takes quite some doing. The food came out way faster than I expected it to, and the two people I dealt with were very friendly.

Dude these guys hooked us up I love it when a place gives big portion! The food is so good makes me wanna slap my mama! And I don't even know my mama! They delivered it fast! Thank you Flippin burger! This is flippin GOOD!!

Super yummy!! The secret sauce is great and the cheese is melted perfectly. I got the beyond burger and it was tasty. Strawberry milkshake is excellent, thick but drinkable. Service was quick, got our food in less than 10 minutes. Vibes in the stores were great too. Highly recommend!

This place has become 1 of my favorite places for a burger. It's as tasty as the Super Duper but the burger is bigger. If I'm in the Haight, I'll be hunting for a parking space so I can drop by Flippin Burger. I can usually find a table looking out into the street just so I can watch the world go by enjoying my burger, fries and a coke. I'll also order a philly cheese steak to bring home for later. = ) jw

It was one of those nights I could not figure out what I wanted to eat for dinner. My urge for garlic fries led me back to Flippin Burger. I had their egg, mushroom cheese burger $11, garlic fries $5 and a Lagunitas IPA. This was satisfying. The single patty burger was enough to fill me up. The garlic fries were OK. I remembered them being more garlicky. Counter service was excellent.

We were out running errands when hub decided that burgers sounded like a good idea for lunch. Yelp brought us Flippin Burger... and whaddya know? It is right across the street from where we were headed. The decor and set up is enticing. The VW bus front sticking out of the counter is the obvious eye catcher here. There are skateboard decks, surfboards, and SF themed decor. It is wide, open, and clean! There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Staff was friendly. The food is well priced, well proportioned, and delicious! Husband had a Flippin Burger (hamburger w/ the basics), but added bacon and cheddar for extra $. I had a Beyond Burger (plant-based meatless patty w/ lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and chipotle aioli). I had it as is and it was delicious! We also got garlic fries. I thought they were great, husband said something wasn't right. Whatev, they were good and it was plenty for two people to share. Husband loved his burger and on the way home, said he'd love to come back. We're coming back!

Average...the burger I had tasted like it had been frozen for half the day, not fresh at all. Also it doesn't cover the entire bun, the burger is too small. My brother got a Philly and took 2 bites, said it was the worst sandwich he'd ever had, full of fat and grizzle. I will skip this place from now on.

Nice place to sit and enjoy some good food with 2 big screens playing sports and a projector showing a movie. Indoor and outdoor seating available. The food is basic nothing fancy or wowing but good spot to sit and relax while catching some good food. I rate the food a 3 out of 5, service is 5 out of 5- team is very well organized and fast with orders. Also keep the areas clean and checking for covid cards is a plus for me and my family. I would return just for the ambiance and service.

Came here looking for a restroom to use and also found some delicious garlic fries!! Located on haight street at the way end, this place serves burgers, fried chicken, and hotdogs as well as sides like fries and onion rings. Our order came out in a decent amount of time and i loved how fresh the fries were along with the fresh garlic and herbs!! Ao yummy with ketchup. Would def want to try the burger with beer next time :)

They advertise a $7.00 Burger, which intrigued me. But when I found it was a 1/4 lb., I said Meh and that's w/o cheese, which is extra. I understand fries are extra as well. So I chose the Fried Chicken Sandwich $9.95. Chicken was huge and fell out all over the bun. Or rather the bun wasn't big enough to contain the chicken. I asked for extra Aioli on the side as it was truly flavorless. And way too much slaw. I never saw the Swiss Cheese. And frankly, the slaw should just be served on the side. The fries were good and more than plentiful @ $3.95. The service was good and the place was immaculate, for that I give them 5 * Decent prices compared to many other places in the Haight. Maybe I will go back and try one of the burgers. Just wish they did combo's, Sandwich and fries.

Food was great! The buns and the meat were perfect. Avocado and was fresh. Fries were perfect as well. We got a side of the garlic and regular. Would be enough to split but we wanted to try each. Service was good and ordering was smooth. Got the food quick as well. It's in the middle of Ashbury so make sure to walk around and get that contact high so your super hungry and excited to get that grub on

The VW van and skater vibe caught my eye, although the food could be better. The hotdog had no flavor and the relish/onion was very over powering. I seen a review that this place compares to super duper and that is a lie. The burger & garlic fries were not it. I wanted to try something new and give my money to a hole in the wall but not if the food was not up to expectations. Dont let the pictures fool you like it did to me

I hadn't eaten at Flippin Burger yet until today. I searched for hamburgers nearby and got this and 4505 bbq. The connotations of the restaurant name may have kept me away, but it's a pretty good restaurant. The menu has a good variety with fried chicken as well. I got a burger with an extra patty and cheese. Also lettuce and tomato(free). My burger was $11 something. I liked it and these restaurants to sit down at are more homey than fast food burgers like Shake Shack.
