Oregon Has Lifted Its Outdoor Mask Mandate | Eater Portland

"Sommelier Andy Fortgang, known for the wine lists at Le Pigeon and Canard, opens his bottle shop Flor Wines on November 24 in Northwest Portland; it will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for browsing and for wine pack pickup for those who ordered ahead." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Loyal Legion’s New Tap Room Opens in Beaverton Tomorrow | Eater Portland

"Opening on Tuesday, November 23, Flor Wines is a hospitality-driven wine shop from sommelier Andy Fortgang (of Canard and Le Pigeon) and former Little Bird wine director Sergio Licea; online sales will begin about a week earlier and include Thanksgiving wine packs. Fortgang describes the shop as akin to a bookstore—where customers can take their time perusing shelves and wine caves with a glass in hand—and the selection will focus largely on France while also including a wide range of imported and local wines, including rare, hard-to-find styles and varieties. The list is presented as a kind of extension of the wines at Le Pigeon and Canard, and customers can join one of three monthly wine clubs, with the first packs going out in early January." - Alex Frane

The Most Anticipated Portland Restaurant Openings, Fall and Winter 2021 | Eater Portland

"I'm interested in Flor Wines, Andy Fortgang's bottle shop: wine nerds will be able to stroll the aisles with a glass in hand and consult Fortgang—whose lists have appeared at Canard and Le Pigeon—to pick out something special." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Portland Sommelier Andy Fortgang Will Open His Own Bottle Shop | Eater Portland

"Planned by Fortgang with former Little Bird wine director Sergio Licea and partner Gabriel Rucker, Flor Wines will be a Northwest Portland bottle shop at 825 NW Glisan where visitors can walk the aisles and wine caves with a glass, talk directly with Licea and Fortgang for recommendations, and browse much like they would in a bookstore; the space will include a front counter, rows of bottles, two wine caves, and a table and seating area for events, classes, and wine dinners, and it will lean more toward being a store than a bar while keeping food and wine closely linked. The shelves will cover a wide swath of regions — West Coast representation alongside French and Italian bottles — reflecting both buyers' varied tastes, and Fortgang emphasizes they will sell wine "made properly, grown properly, and made by good people," rejecting a simple traditional-versus-natural binary. Flor Wines aims to open as soon as early November." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

We went here to get a gift card for a friend, and the owner was super friendly and helpful. If I lived in Portland I would definitely go back and buy some wines. Check out the artwork displayed on the tops of the shelves while you’re there, it’s great. Recommended!

Excellent shop with fantastic service! The selection is impressive, with plenty of unique imports that have been thoughtfully curated. Staff have tried all the wines they sell and know them inside and out so you can really trust their recommendations. Easily the best library selection in Portland. Flor is truly a gem! I have thoroughly enjoyed their club allocations as well (a great value and a nice way to try new wines you might never have considered).

Walked around for over 10 minutes without any help because the man pouring wine was too busy telling people who seemed to be personal friends about his trip to Scotland to introduce himself or this business. My husband and I came from out of town, really excited to try this place from the amazing review just to be extremely disappointed. Browsed with no assistance before deciding to leave without purchasing anything because we didn’t want to spend our money in a place that didn’t even acknowledge our existence let alone do their job of sharing their knowledge on their wine selection. Would not reccomend to anyone who may be new to the wine scene because you’ll be ignored for friends at the counter.

Sergio is THE BEST. I came in a little while ago and requested that we knock a item off my wife’s bucket list - “drink a bottle of wine that’s older than she is.” Boy oh boy did Sergio deliver. After searching high and low and offering a few items in my price range, he found an amazing wine that blew us away. We enjoyed an amazing wine and knocked that item off the bucket list thanks to Sergio. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

Knowledgeable and friendly staff who offer excellent recommendations tailored to different regions and price points. Meeting Jonathan was truly a highlight—he was an absolute gem and incredibly helpful throughout our visit.

Google
Our favorite wine shop ever! Great people, great wine selection across price point; approachable, classy, fun, fancy when it's called for---exactly what you'd expect from the folks behind Portland icons Le Pigeon, Canard and the late-great Little Bird (Andy and Sergio of course), but the newcomers to the team all bring their own excellent character too.

Google
THE VERY BEST EVER!!! Customer service wine availability and ambiance were off the charts amazing. It was a very special and wonderful feeling being in the store. The staff was extremely helpful possessing extraordinary knowledge of both wines and regions of cultivation. I was made to feel special and important as a customer. This place is extraordinary and a great addition to Portland and the wine community.

Google
Flor has quickly become my favorite spot in Portland. My wife and I just moved to the area, and one of the first things we wanted to do was find a local wine shop, not to just buy some great bottles, but to learn more and to be introduced to new regions, grapes, or styles. And how lucky we were to find Flor. Sergio and Andy are some of the friendliest, most knowledgeable, no-BS or pretentiousness wine people I’ve met. For us, going to Flor has become one of our favorite traditions. I mean, it doesn’t get any better than having a great conversation about wine and getting to sample delicious wines. Regardless if your budget is $15 or $1000, Flor is the spot for you.

Yelp
This place is super chill. Went with a couple of co-workers after work and we had a great time tasting a bunch of different wines. The guy conducting the tasting was great at explaining wines and what's best to pair them with. We enjoyed hanging out before dinner. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this place during a walk that got detoured by a stopped train. It's cute and the staff member, Danny, that helped me was kind and helpful. I had a glass of Chianti that was pretty good. I'll be back again to try more wines.

Yelp
Are you searching for a more European wine experience? Look no further! Flor Wines' welcoming space is stunning. The owners and sommeliers have clearly designed the experience with intention, blending the cave experience with Portland's contemporary and relaxing wine vibes. Their selection is global, and sourced to offer clients something familiar and new. I like that the space takes you through a journey to learn about some interesting varietals, while also hosting seating and tables to enjoy a glass or bottle with friends. The seating arrangement is thoughtful, being both private and open to the senses. The staff offer some very interesting daily drinkers, with glass and bottle options being very affordable. For those (like me) who would prefer to enjoy a bottle or two, there is also no corkage fee. If you become hungry, there are some nice small plate selections. I am looking forward to returning more with a good book. I also look forward to seeing a happy hour here - or blind tastings offered for wine enthusiasts. Great work here - let's hope for a patio during the summer!

Yelp
Still a work in progress, Flor Wines already has the makings of something special. A wine shop and, eventually, a wine bar from the wine director of Le Pigeon and Canard, Flor brings a varied offering of offbeat wines to the Pearl. Although the space is still being built out (as of our visit this week) it's already promising, with huge windows and lots of light, lovely woodwork, and fun floral rugs. There's also a wine cave for those extra-special, hard-to-find bottles, and a storage space that may eventually turn into an event space or a speakeasy-type hideaway. There will be wines by the glass in early 2022, which I can't wait for, as the wine selection here is smart and intriguing. I'm really looking forward to posting up at the bar or at the long communal table and picking Andy Fortgang's brain on his wine expertise. Andy was onsite during our visit and it was great to have access to such a knowledgeable and interested industry insider to geek out with. The wines are sourced from all over, but largely internationally, although local productions do feature (especially with the current supply chain issues). There are plenty of small producers and lesser-known varietals and methods of preparation, organized geographically. I particularly appreciate that the bottles on offer range in price, so you can pick up an interesting, unique bottle or two without breaking the bank (although there's plenty of that, too, for the high flyers among us). Flor takes geeky, niche wines and makes them accessible. I can't wait to dive into more of their offerings.

Yelp
Customer service, kindness, and knowledge were fantastic! Lots of little touches that make it the only wine shop you'll ever want visit.
