Flora

"Dishes such as spicy polenta with fennel pickle, confit cod, white trevally fish from the Azores and, to finish, the banana treacle ice cream with liquorice-flavoured rice pudding, are accompanied by a choice of "low intervention, biodynamic and organic wines" that are high on quality. This oasis of creativity can be found in a tiny contemporary bistro in Viseu’s historic centre, where it is run by João Guedes in the kitchen and Anna front of house." - Michelin Inspector

I had such a fantastic meal here. 8 courts and each got better as we went through them. The wine pairings were excellent where the wine made the food better and the food made the wine better. I don't know the cost as this was part of our tour. It was the best meal of our tour, which is saying something as we had great food throughout the tour from Lisban to Porto over 8 day through the interior. I am really impressed. Call ahead for reservations as it is a small place. I was in a group of 9 and took up much of the restaurant.

Went to Flora with a group of 9 people who were touring Portugal together with a focus on its food and wine culture. This restaurant was selected by our tour guide (Ryan Opaz) who himself has co-authored 3 books about food and wine in Portugal. We all agreed that Flora was one of the highlights of our week in the country. We chose the 7 course tasting menu, which included 2 desserts (65 Euro, not including wine). There are also 9 course and smaller course tasting menus, but not an a la carte menu. (Hence, take care if you have special dietary needs.) Every course was perfectly sumptuous— 5 stars— made with local, organic ingredients. The restaurant was small, not more than 5 tables in all, our table for 9 and 4 other two-tops. (The proprietor had combined a couple of tables to accommodate us.) The service was flawless, sensitive and welcoming. Don’t miss Flora!

One of the top restaurants in Portugal's interior, it is well worth a visit or two if you have the time. The food is a sophisticated take on traditional Portuguese ingredients with the occasional surprising twists. The wine list is diverse and focused on lesser-known producers who deserve more attention.

Absolutely fantastic dinner experience! Loved the friendly service, relaxed atmosphere and of course the food! Very innovative and interesting dishes made out of fresh ingredients, and all with a "twist". We had a 5-course tasting menu, which also was adapted for my wife to be safe for pregnancy. Given the fine-dining level of food quality, it's definitely very reasonable prices. It was the best food we had during our Portugal trip by far! 🍷😍😎

WOW! Is all i have to say. This was like stumbling on a secret Michelin star restaurant (but affordable) in the most adorable Portuguese town. We did the 7 part tasting menu and got an amazing bottle of local wine and are still sort of in shock about how good it was. Every dish was divine and beautifully presented like a work of art, a journey of a culinary experience. The couple running the restaurant were also so kind. Absolute 10/10. Going to send our friends. ♥️

In Viseu, we enjoyed an exceptional Lunch at **Restaurant Flora**, a place rightfully recommended by **Michelin**. From the very first bite, it was a **true delight for the senses** — refined flavors, pure ingredients, and a perfect balance between tradition and modern creativity. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere elegant yet relaxed. A must-visit for anyone looking to experience fine dining in Viseu!

We found another gem in Viseu and we’re glad we did :-) This is a cozy and friendly place where Ana and Chef João welcome you with their passion for food. They came from London recently and brought with them some innovative techniques and combinations that create amazing dishes with unique flavors. They use organic and locally sourced ingredients and cook them in a way that brings out the best of each product. I won’t spoil the surprise by describing the dishes, because they change every week depending on what’s fresh and available. The selection of wines is vast but from small wineries. Congrats to João and Ana for this wonderful project, we’ll be back soon.
