Florblanca, Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica - Explore & Book

"Beautiful Florblanca is secluded in jungly gardens beside a pristine beach - with wild surf, white sands and overhanging palms. Choose a modern comfortable villa, a rustic Surf House or the gorgeous Honeymoon House - most are spacious and airy, with sumptuous cream bedrooms. Wallow in a leaf-shaped bath by candlelight under palm trees in your outdoor bathroom. Sip cocktails by the free-form pool, practice some yoga or laze in a hammock by the beach. Hip young staff whisk up gastronomic delights; the yellow-fin tuna for your sashimi was caught just hours ago. This is a very chic retreat indeed. You have the ocean on your doorstep, bird ballad and monkey chatter to wake you, that shapely pool, and yoga, pilates and creative cuisine. If you're not surfing the waves then bliss out in the spa, romantically perched above rushing water. It's a small slice of heaven, with its laid back but luxurious feel - oh, and the staff are described as "beyond great". Highs Florblanca’s villas are utterly luxurious: high-ceilinged sitting rooms open to the ocean breezes with grand bedrooms and wonderful alfresco bathroomsFood is superb: funky Pacific Rim flavours with Latin, Mediterranean and Asian influencesExcellent surfingHoneymooners will love the ocean view Deluxe options, and dining in the private gazebo by candlelightThe award-winning Bambú offers outstanding treatments and massages Lows It's pricey, but the use of surf and boogie boards are includedTake a transfer, don’t drive here. Hotel Florblanca | Best places to stay in Costa Rica

"The best of the surfer-chic beachside boutique hotels in laid-back Santa Teresa village, Florblanca is intimate, small-scale and integrated with nature. Secluded villas in lush hardwoods have huge terraces and al fresco showers open to the surrounding rainforest, and they sit just off the sand on the best beach in the village. There are plenty of activities on offer (surf classes, spa pampering, horseback riding and scuba diving), the food is organic farm-to-table and the resort is perfectly positioned for romantic Pacific Ocean sunsets and cocktails under the stars. This review is for the restaurant, Nectar and the spa. I did not stay at the hotel (I’m a local). This is THE BEST spa in Santa Teresa. From the services, to the staff, everything is top notch. I started at the restaurant and had a lovely cocktail, followed by the Hot Tropics scrub which combines a hot oil/coffee/chocolate exfoliation and a hot stone massage and then used the jacuzzi and cold plunge. It’s a really lovely way to spend an afternoon. I can’t wait to come back for their Ayurvedic services next! Local tip: the grounds are just beautiful and if you want, you can come for sunset, grab a wine and just relax on their beach chairs.

Came for sunset drinks and dinner and it was by far one of our favorite nights in Santa Teresa. Great sunset, amazing food and drinks, and the best service. Get the ice cream sandwich for dessert!

I had the pleasure of visiting Florblanca for a yoga class, which was highly recommended by my Airbnb host. The resort itself was beautiful (though I didn’t get to explore all of it), and the yoga class with Stefano was absolutely amazing. It was a 2-hour session, and in those two hours, I feel like I learned more about yoga than I have in the past 15 years of practicing. Stefano’s traditional approach was so insightful and deeply impactful. I highly recommend trying to get into one of his classes—just be sure to arrive early, as they tend to fill up quickly. Truly a standout experience!

We are so impressed with everything this hotel and services continue to offer its guests and the locals. Walking down the steps you are engulfed by the well manicured garden and are immediately transformed into the calm energy that once was Santa Teresa. This place remains a sanctuary after all these years. 🙏 We enjoyed the delicious food of Nectar restaurant which has the best beachside dining in the area. The bar has amazing drinks and every server is extremely kind and friendly and truly enjoying their job. We also took advantage of some amazing spa services and were so pleased we did!! The staff was professional and knowledgable and the facility with cold and hot plunge is a dream!! Do not hesitant. This place is the true heart of Santa Teresa.

Book it. My stay at Florblanca was amazing. From concierge to restaurant to spa everyone was incredibly kind and helpful. So much thought and care put into every interaction. The property itself is gorgeous. A true oasis, super quiet and very well maintained. The resort is right on the beach. It will take you about 40 mins to walk to downtown Santa Teresa via the beach, but ~8 mins if you rent an ATV/car. The experience was kind of like a luxury eco lodge, in that the living room and bathroom are open so it was not uncommon to interact with wildlife. If that freaks you out this probably is not for you, but I felt very safe and found it cool to see/hear howler monkeys, little bats and various birds. I'm unsure why the reviews are so low. I would recommend to any of my friends/family.

I spent three nights at this hotel. For the first few days all went well (although it should be noted only the bedrooms are air conditioned and not the other rooms). The bar, restaurant, spa and concierge staff were very good. Here is where the hotel turned into a one star nightmare. On my last full day at the hotel, the electricity went out about 2:30 pm. They had a generator but it was broke and useless. At dark (5:30 pm) we lit candles in the living room area. Free food was offered and we accepted. Then we were asked if we would like some free “sushi”. When the sushi arrived, I took one piece and noted it tasted very fishy. The lights finally came back on around 8:30 pm. I went to sleep. We had a bus coming at 7:00 am to take us to a boat to another destination. When I awoke I was severely sick. I was throwing up and had incessant diarrhea. I was on the toilet when the bus arrived. My family went to the bus and I said I would come. I don’t want to get too graphic here so let’s just say I was uncontrollably sick and left a small mess on the bathroom floor. I was now 15 minutes late, severely incapacitated, and about to miss the bus and the boat. I was physically unable to clean the restroom and very late for the bus and was barely able to walk to the bus. When I got to the bus, I asked my daughter to get me some medicine. When my daughter went to the hotel office seeking some medicine, the reservations manager (?) was there and demanded that I come to the office to check out. When my daughter returned to the bus and told me what the lady said, I was going to try and walk to the office. However, the bus operator looked at his watch and said we had to go as there were other people waiting for the bus and trying to get to the boat. So we had to leave immediately. I had given the hotel my credit card when I checked in so I saw no harm as they could simply charge my credit card if necessary. Later that day, I learned that the hotel emailed my Costa Rican travel agent with photos of a burn on a table in the villa we were at and a photo of the mess on the floor in the bathroom. Apparently, the hotel management assumed that we burned the table and left the bathroom mess on purpose to get even with them because they didn’t give us a discount for the last night’s stay, which had been discussed the day before because of the lack of electricity. They also thought that I was trying to run out on the hotel because of the damage and mess, because I never came to check out. I was furious. I could not believe that the hotel sent my travel agent a photo of my mess on the floor. That was extremely private and embarrassing. Moreover, I would not have made a mess if I had not gotten sick from their rotten sushi that they should have known was no good since it had been sitting without refrigeration for hours. The burned table resulted from us lighting a candle provided by the hotel, which was sitting on a wooden tray provided by the hotel and placed on a table. The candle burned through the tray and into the table causing some damage to the table. How was that my fault ? They gave us the candle, placed it on the wood tray and table and didn’t provide electricity. So, it became my fault that the candle burnt through the tray onto the table. When I found out the hotel had sent the photos to my travel agent and told her I was a terrible person. I called the hotel concierge. I told her exactly what had happened and why I was not able to check out. I gave them the opportunity to apologize to me. Instead, immediately thereafter, the hotel called my travel agent and defended their position. They have never once reached out to me personally. The hotel management turned what could have been a pleasant experience into a nightmare. They have no tact and obviously have no concern nor respect for their guests. They assumed the worst, stabbed me in my back, and doubled down by sending very embarrassing photos to my travel agent. This hotel does not deserve anyone’s hard earned money. (The hotel laundry also lost two shirts).

Very surprised and shocked to see anything below a 5 star review for Florblanca. My husband and I have had the blessing of visiting beautiful, very expensive and very gorgeous hotels all around the world, and by far, Florblanca is our top favorite. It won’t be your typical “all inclusive” “resort” like the ones in Mexico, it’s a boutique hotel and it’s exclusively private - which makes it sooo much more charming, romantic, beautiful, and truly the BEST hotel we’ve ever stayed at. If you want to be apart of nature and feel close to the sounds of the jungle, the ocean, the aroma and energy of Costa Rica, then this place is for you. It’s Costa Rica, of course there will be animals and insects, but that’s what makes it so much more exciting and amazing. Going off the other lower reviews — Yes the living room is open, but how lovely to be so close to nature and hear it all the time. It’s my favorite part! And if you want more privacy, the bedroom is completely closed and it has its AC if you need it. The staff is the friendliest we’ve ever encountered - so genuine and the service is wonderful, especially at the restaurant, the food is soooo good and delicious (the sushi is unreal and I am Japanese saying this). We came here for our honeymoon 5 years ago and we couldn’t stop dreaming about Florblanca so we came back for my birthday and baby moon! (And that’s a lot of travel for being pregnant - took 3 flights and a long taxi, which I would say is the only downside) Second time coming back, and I’d say it’s better than before (which I didn’t think was possible). I could say more and more about Florblanca, I really love it to my heart and soul, it’s such a beautiful representation of the island and its beautiful culture and people. We are hoping to come again when our son is born so he can experience the love that we have for it too.

Our family spent six days in July at Flor Blanca in Santa Theresa. What an amazing place to wrap up a fourteen day Costa Rican vacation. We stayed in three other great places while we we toured the Northern parts of Costa Rica and Flor Blanca was our favorite. The beach to the north and south of Flor Blanca is an amazing white sand beach. Over several days, we were often the only people around. The surfing was great. The water was warm. Flor Blanca's rooms are amazing. The living area features outdoor living. The ktichen/dining area sits above the surf as it crashes the shoreline. Service at Flor Blanca was tops. The restaraunt has some of the best sushi we found during our days touring Costa Rica. The bar was amazing and plenty of wildlife to amuse the family. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants an amazing location for their stay, amazing service, beach views, and something a bit different. I read up on Flor Blanca before we traveled and some of the reviews were 'negative' based upon the outdoor living rooms (and bathrooms). If you know what you are doing heading into the stay at this resort, I wonder how you could complain about monkeys and other wildlife visiting the outdoor living spaces at night. For our family, this was part of the adventure and charm during our stay. Highly recommend this place!
