This library is amazing. They have the best selection of everything you would want from a library. The librarians and other staff are the absolute best at what they do. The children's section is outstanding. The New Book section is awesome and huge, they have a large print section, a South Carolina Room, many computers, a gallery, comfortable study and reading areas, a few very comfortable chairs near the front desk, great parking. You can basically check out anything in SC by placing a hold on it. Its a little bit like the library of Congress when you add all the books you can get from other libraries through the Book Mobile. Everything is online, so you can create an account and start finding books with your phone. They have free events for kids. This place is the best.

New to the area. Just signed up to use this library. Really do think this is a nice library. Its big, clean, quiet and has practically anything you would need and could ask for in a library. It would have been the perfect experience, but unfortunately I had a negative experience with one of the employees upstairs in the adult computer section. The employee is a black overweight woman with short red/black braids. I (a black woman myself) was at the printing area and she came up to me at random and tells me that the person I was accompanied with (my mom) had an odor that was spreading around the entire area. This was 07/01. My mom did not in fact have any odor, and I explained to this employee that she must have mistaken this to be coming from somewhere else and that she was the only one complaining. Everyone else was focused on what they were doing. She never even approached the area where we were sitting to know. When we signed up to the library downstairs, none of the employees said anything to us, nor did security. Nor did anyone in the computer section. We had only been there for 10 minutes. I was very put off by her behavior and her persistence of a situation that was false. Besides that off-putting experience I think this is a good library, but based on what happened I may likely go to another branch.

Moved up 3 years ago and just discovered that Florence had a beautiful Library. I have gone there quite a few times since 2024 begin and everyone there has been super nights. The library is really big and beautiful.

Google
The library itself is fantastic and a great environment. The only reason I'm rating a 1 star is because the black heavyset librarian was absolutely rude for no reason. I'm from out of town and I received a phone call which I had to take. I wasn't speaking loud at all and he comes and shushes me extremely louder than I was talking on the phone. Then proceeds to keep antagonizing me all the time I was there. Just him being nit picky and annoying. It just seemed like he takes a library job that seriously or just was having a bad day. Whatever his problem was, it was uncalled for.

Google
Really interesting building and a good collection for borrowers. They also have archives, an art gallery, and a computer section. The library also provides a lot of children's programs, movies, and guest speakers. The monthly book club is active.

Google
I remain seriously impressed by the size and stature of this huge library. I did not have an expectation that a small city like Florence would have a library this extensive! This was my office for about four hours. I asked the librarian for one of the study rooms and with the door closed, I was able to have Zoom calls and not worry too much about volume. A quiet, private space. Maybe they all fill up after school hours but at 11am? Plenty of availability. Wifi worked well. Outlets worked well. This was a great space.

We just moved to the area and were so excited to get our cards. We are big fans of supporting the local library and we're more than willing to become donors. Upon arriving we were told that despite an offer letter and lease proof, because my husband's job didn't start for two more days we couldn't get cards. My two young children left with tears because your employees lacked basic human compassion and reasoning. Just a shame.

Yelp
Main library in Florence, off S Irby St the main road that runs through city. This building is massive from the outside, although inside half of it is closed off for employees space, parking garage, loading dock, and Book Mobile. The library space inside downstairs has kids section, meeting room, new arrival books, non fiction, books for sale on honor system. Upstairs has the South Carolina room which is the history area with microfiche machines. In addition there is a small art gallery, public computers, study rooms, newspapers. I came here to get library card so could use Libby app for audio books. The employee I spoke to was very pleasant in explaining the library set up.

Yelp
In addition to it being a beautiful, clean and updated facility, the staff is friendly and helpful, resources are easy to find, and diverse programs for children and adults are offered year-round.

Yelp
They have so many books and hold a lot of events! I believe they are wheelchair accessible (ramp and elevator) as well. I went many, many times this summer to get some reading in before my senior year at college and it was such a great resource. Sometimes the staff seem a little irritated to answer my questions though. Maybe I've just been catching them at the wrong time. My only other wish is that we'd be able to request books. I've visited a few libraries recently that have so much more choice, especially in adult fiction. Other than that, I love it :)

Yelp
The facility is phenomenal. The staff is very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. When myWow! The new Children's library offers an expensive array of print, digital and media as well as state of the art bookmobile services.

Yelp
This is our third time visiting this library branch. My son like being in this environment. The kids zone is really cool and alluring. Today he returned two books and now he is checking two books out.

Yelp
Great place to get a book, get a DVD, use the Internet, or a computer. Most likely the best looking library in the state The staff are very helpful and try hard to help everyone. Everyone in Florence county should help support the down town area and their local library. The Florence library as well as all the other county libraries have many special program for children and adults, from people looking for jobs or anyone that needs a little help with technology, to children that need extra help with reading skills.

Yelp
I love the Florence County Library. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. My four year old grandson and I enjoy spending time in the children's section where he can work on one of four tablets, play with Legos, put together numerous puzzles, and check out books and DVD's.
