Best Tampa-Area Spots For Chardonnay This Memorial Day | Eater

"The roadside fish shack get a modern twist at this laid-back seafood spot. The menu’s filled with fresh seafood selections, which you can enjoy outside next to the whitewashed walls with a chardonnay in hand. After, head to the adjoining bourbon bar, where 180 bourbons and 60 tequilas await." - Matthew Meltzer

Food was wonderful, the portions were great, the only thing is when we pulled in the parking lot We weren’t sure if the back outside area you could just walk through, but that is where the entrance is so we just walked the long way around. When you walk in the bar is on the right that is separate from where you order your food in the back. Just a different way to get food, but it was really good!! The person you order the food from at the counter will bring your food out to you. The drinks were good and the bartenders were very sweet.

Google
We’ve been twice. Big fan of the shrimp boil. The oysters were small and over cooked, sausage was a no go! Sitting outside is nice, inside is way too small. Service is good, but you basically order and pick up at a window.

Their breakfast is delicious!!!! Country fried steak with 2 eggs over-easy and sausage and gravy. Mmm! Drinks were on point!! Such a great way to start our E-bike ride!

Excellent food, speedy kitchen, friendly staff. Plenty of parking. We stopped by for lunch and really enjoyed the experience. You will too. We're from Orlando and we'll be back.

Google
So glad we found this place! Casual, family friendly, country Florida atmosphere. There's a play area for kids that my toddler loved! Southern style food. I got the fried gator tail nuggets with collard greens, my husband got the gator tail po'boy with Mac n cheese. So delicious! We'll be back soon! 🐊

We came in after horseback riding and met liberty at the bar and at the server counter was Shelly. We had Fried green Tomatoes, BLT. Liberty was absolutely fabulous at the bar. She gave a little history about Florida cracker knew everything about all the drinks and the specials for the week. We will definitely be back to see her for sure….

Google
Brunch at Florida Cracker was amazing. Only served on Sat & Sun though. Coffee was brewed well enough to enjoy black. We ordered shrimp & grits, Chicken & biscuits, and sausage gravy and busicuits with a fried egg on the side made over medium with perfection! We did request our OJ without ice or ice would've been added. Clean, friendly environment. We are just not the biggest fans of the country music but we tolerate it for the yummy food and friendly faces!

Google
Another hidden gem off the beaten path. The gator PO’boy was amazing. The spinach cornbread was some of the best we have had, and I don’t typically like corn bread. Good portions and the bar (which stays open past the restaurant closes) made amazing drinks. There was live music with limited outdoor seating. Not the friendliest bartenders so I can’t give the overall 5 star treatment but we will definitely be back for the food and drinks. The restaurant staff was very friendly and the manager roamed around to ensure the guests were taken care of after food was delivered.

Yelp
Florida Cracker Fish Company is one of our absolute favorites. We're here at least twice a month. The seafood is always top notch and consistently delicious. My personal go-to is the shrimp po' boy paired with their fried green tomatoes. Both are packed with flavor and cooked perfectly every time. The cornbread and Coleslaw are also favorites! The scratch made margaritas and sangria are a must. They're refreshing, balanced, and just what you want alongside fresh seafood. Perfect for any day in hot Florida! What really sets this place apart is the atmosphere. The team here is incredibly friendly and welcoming. It truly feels like family. There's even a playground outside for the kids, which is such a bonus for families. My only small suggestion would be to fully enclose the playground area so there's no chance of little ones wandering toward the parking lot or trail. Overall, this place checks all the boxes. Great food, great people, and a family friendly vibe that keeps us coming back again and again.

Yelp
The best part of this place is the free outdoor playground! It is a great place to take your kids and get a meal. I wish it was shaded for the hot summers but it is pretty nice to go to during the winters. The food I think is mediocre at best. The chocolate pancakes only has a couple chocolate chips on top of the stack. It wasn't even fully melted or mixed in. I basically was eating a plain pancake. The corned beef hash was very plain and dry. Not a fan and was disappointed. The biscuit and gravy were my favorite. The biscuit was warm, soft and fluffy. The gravy wasn't too salty which I was grateful for. This is a place that you go to the counter to order and then sit down. I would come back just because of the playground in the back.

Yelp
Great food Reasonable prices Friendly and efficient service Lots of seating options including indoor, outdoor, and music on the patio.

Yelp
Was in the area and needed a quick lunch, so I hopped on Yelp and came across Florida Cracker Fish Company. Ordering was really easy at the counter and there were a lot of fresh catch options. I decided on a mahi mahi po boy with cole slaw. My husband ordered the same and also added on some oysters which were $1 each. The bar is separate and had some local beers. There was a lot of seating options both inside and outside. There's a parking lot attached as well.

Yelp
I wanted to come here because I had a great experience at the other location, so my friend and I decided to give this one a try. We ordered oysters, sweet tea, and fried pickles. The oysters were good, but the outside had a bit of grit to them, which made the texture a little crunchy, which I'm not the biggest fan of, but some people don't mind. The fried pickles were way too salty for me, and I couldn't even finish them. On the bright side, the sweet tea was banging, loved that. Overall, still glad I tried this spot.

Yelp
I brought my family for kid's night. My son is too little to get much out of face painting but he absolutely loved the teddy bear that the balloon animal guy made him. They have a little playground outside too. We got a bunch of food including a shrimp salad, oysters, gator bites, mac and cheese, fries, and Cole slaw. The meals all come with cheesy, herby corn bread. I like my salad (even though it was a bit light on the shrimp). The oysters were baked with cheese on top which I ultimately wasn't really into. They have a lot of different sauces, many of which you had to "milk" (for lack of a better word) from this udder-like contraption. All the sauces were flavorful and tasty. I would definitely come back since it's a great setup for dinner with kids.

Yelp
Came here for a Sunday breakfast and it was very slow surprisingly! This is an order at the counter place with plenty of seating and a full bar available. Everything we ordered was delicious and filling! The staff and manager were extremely friendly and accommodating. Will definitely keep this place in the rotation!

Yelp
I am so glad my workplace picked Florida Cracker (previously Ballyhoo's) for our annual holiday/winter gathering! My favorite part of this venue is that they have their own little store with very creative products for sale. Florida Cracker's souvenirs make incredible gifts. Since I was with a large group, I placed an order for the Yardbird sandwich fried with mac and cheese as a side. Mac and cheese = amazeballs.,The sandwich was pretty crispy and the sauce options (udders you get to squeeze yourself) are delish! I went with a smoky white barbecue sauce for my sandwich condiment. They also had J Lohr Cabernet, which I delighted in during my first visit there. I will definitely return with family and/or friends in the near future.

Yelp
We dined in for dinner. The food was very good just a little on the salty side. The vibe is very relaxed, very Florida country style, if you lived or grew up in the country you know what I mean. You can find food like this at shacks on the side of the road and its the best. They have a large menu and so much of it looks mouth watering! If you have no gluten allergies like me you will have a blast. The blackened catfish (gluten-free) was very very good. It was well seasoned and tender. They give you three generous filets with a side. I would recommend this. I love fried catfish so even though I could not have it due to the gluten, I would recommend it! The gator po'boy was delicious and large. It comes with a side and we chose fries with cheese. It was very filling. The gator was great and the fries were a bit too salty. Collard greens were not the best in my opinion. They were over cooked, mushy, and tasted like caramelized onions. For 4$ as an add on side I would skip. Fries with cheese or without were good. They were just too salty. They said they have a dedicated fryer for the fries only which waa great if you have Celiacs like I do. The fries were thick and crispy too. Charbroil oysters were very good, very delicious. half a dozen is like 12.99. They had parmesan cheese and butter on them. The grits were made well and delicious and many restaurants mess up grits, but they got them right and I love grits so I would know. The restaurant is big and open, you come in on one side and seat yourself. You walk up to the counter and place your order and they give you a buzzer. The menu does have GF markings for those who have Celiacs Disease and can't have gluten. The woman at the counter was very helpful with any questions I had (I needed to know if the fryer was dedicated and if the Broiled oysters with GF). The food came out quickly, it was a lot of food and we had some leftovers. There is a bar on the other side of the restaurant as well. I ordered a cocktail and it was good, but even that drink was too salty lol. There sseemed to be some salt added to the bottom of the glass for flavor? Overall, the drink was good, but the salt was not. Overall, dinner was good, I would return for more blackened fish for sure. I would also recommend coming here. They also have a lunch and brunch menu which look good. Parking is easy, they have their own lot, outdoor seating as well and it's right on the corner where you can get back on the interstate easily.

Yelp
Creamy grits with fried shrimp! Oh I'm in on that! It was Tuesday night- kids night- face painting and ballon animals! We do mot have young children but it was a blast for us to watch the happy kids and parents. Fried shrimps are meaty, sweet and lightly breaded. Grits are buttery and creamy. Mahi Rueben was good. Get your bbq sauces from the dispensers on the wall next to the easily accessible take away containers. Walk up and place your order at the counter and staff brings it ti your table. Great southern food Family friendly and priced right

Yelp
Florida Cracker never misses! This meal was Southern comfort at its finest--from the rich gumbo and flavorful cornbread to the fresh oysters and grilled shrimp. The shrimp po' boy was loaded and packed with flavor, and the collard greens were the perfect side. We paired everything with some cocktails and had a great time soaking up the warm, rustic vibes. Definitely a go-to for good food, good drinks, and good times!
google avatar

Drew T.

Yelp
Quite possibly the most "Florida" restaurant I've been to that isn't on the water. This place is great for a casual lunch or dinner, but I would not recommend it for a date night. We had the crab balls for an appetizer with mac & cheese as the side. My entree was the Sunshine State fish tacos with blackened mahi and the wife had Fresh fried oysters. My tacos were good, however the wife mentioned the larger pieces of oyster were not cooked as well as the smaller ones. We each got the cheese fries and as another recommendation, do not get these if you are eating with anyone you're trying to impress. They are drenched in cheese which is great... however quite messy. One thing I certainly appreciate it although they have their signature cocktails, they have an entirely separate menu dedicated just to old fashions.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised by this fantastic spot that we highly recommend. The seafood is fresh and never frozen and you can tell from it's terrific taste. This is a fun, laid-back environment with exceptional service from Shelly [Manager] and Caitlin [Bartender]. We enjoyed the live music on the patio. Yes, we had to get in line to order food and drinks and it just didn't matter at all. We can't wait for our next visit!
google avatar

Yelp
Second visit as good as the first. Tried the shrimp & grits this time and loved it. Shrimp & grits are their version and i liked it even better than traditional. The grits are a grits "cake" with 3 good size pieces and a bunch of good size shrimp (I think it was at least 6) with a tomato sauce. My friend had a fish taco with mac n cheese. We were both very pleased with both dishes. The drink menu looked really interesting even though we didnt get to try any this visit. Still recommend.

Yelp
We were hungry and didn't know where to go on the way to the other coast. We just happened to pass & decided to stop. So glad we did. My hubby said the collard greens were out of this world. I'm not usually a fan but he was right. The fish sandwiches were so good. Do yourself a favor and check this place out.

Yelp
If you're looking for a spot that combines laid-back Florida vibes with seriously top-tier food, Florida Cracker Fish Co. is it! I had the fried green tomatoes, fried grouper sandwich, and loaded mac & cheese, and WOW--phenomenal. The fried green tomatoes are a MUST. The rest of our group loved their meals too--every plate came out tasting like something you'd expect from a much fancier spot, but without the stuffy vibe. The atmosphere is super relaxed, making it a great place to kick back and enjoy good food and drinks. Speaking of drinks, the bar is next-level. They have a full list of specialty cocktails and a separate menu just for their creative takes on the old fashioned--each one more intriguing than the last. Definitely a place where the bar program gets just as much love as the kitchen. Bonus points: Great service, kid-friendly and great for big groups. All in all, a must-visit if you're in the area. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Joined a restaurant club and this was one of the choices so we decided to stop in today. Been to the one in Homosassa and it was pretty good. Open seating with picnic tables inside and out. Fast casual so look over the menu then go up and order. Server will bring out your f Lots to choose from for breakfast and lunch. We landed some Tampa corn chowder. Really nice. I got the grouper Rueben. Delicious! Big portion too. Deb got the fried green tomato BLT. Good flavors. Tangy Solid spot for brunch

Yelp
Went on a Sunday before the church crowd. I can see parking being a problem when it's rush hour. I've passed this place a millions times and finally paid it a visit. Tons of sitting area and the menu really hits every craving for a brunch or lunch place. I went with the chicken and biscuits with a side of the gravy. That gravy is 10/10! The biscuits are 100/10! So soft and fluffy. Even have a menu option to take home a half dozen biscuits. The chicken with the syrup and gravy was a hit! Will definitely be back.

Michelle B.

Yelp
Was looking for a good shrimp and grits and this place is not it. description is deceitful; tomato gravy is nothing but tomato sauce, green onions is chunk of green onion on top, and bacon is a strip laid across the top. Maybe their other food is good!
google avatar

Candace S.

Yelp
I had a positive experience at the Florida Cracker Fish company. I ordered the catfish and gumbo and collard greens which also came with cornbread. I wasn't expecting the catfish to be stuck inside the gumbo and ended up taking it out because it was becoming soggy. The gumbo was overall and could have used more seasoning but the catfish, cornbread and collard greens were very good! The service was also great in following up after I sat down. I would be open to trying another dish.

Yelp
Atmosphere is a relaxed Florida-style spot with wooden floors and old timey Florida fishing photos. Order at the menu line and grab a table. Inside and open air seating with a fun gift shop while you wait. Menu features locally- inspired dishes from Davis Islands, Beer Can Island, Plant City and Dade City. The fishin' hole menu is the speciality with local fish dishes and worth it, and menu includes items for every taste and age including Davis Island sandwiches, soups and wonderful Plant City and Dade City inspired salads and soups. Full bar and local brews on tap and of course the Florida Cracker Bourbon choices. A favorite salad enough to share is the Chopped Lunch on a Limoges Salad. Cornbread is a specially, extra moist made with spinach, onion and cottage cheese.

Yelp
Yeah..no. Nice place, the outside area also nice. Friendly staff. We ordered 1/2 pound fish filled and the grouper reuben. It was flavorless. The Reuben just had the fish and the sauerkraut (I opted no cheese) no dressing and again..no flavor. The fish (mahi mahi, 25 dollars) same. Good thing : the corn bread is good, comes free with every meal. The coleslaw really good Mac and cheese, creamy..not much flavor. The portions were average size.

Yelp
The ambiance is lovely! It reminds me of a restaurant that is on the water. They have a gift shop which is cool because they offer several home made sauces which can be purchase. The way it works is that you order at the front and they bring you your meal, just like a fast casual idea restaurant. I ordered the Gator Tail Po' Boy which was delicious, my only con is the bread. To me, I felt like the baguette was one of those frozen ones which you put in the oven. I didn't like it. The cornbread on the other hand was delicious, a bit dry but delicious nonetheless. I also like how they offer their various types of sauces through a cow utter look a like. It was entertaining but still easy to do. The service was great! Everyone was smiling and although we ordered at the front there were still people coming around checking in on us. Overall I had a great time and I recommend.

Yelp
Excellent food! The service was good. They were very busy, so the manager was bussing tables. Nice staff!

Yelp
I'm a cracker at heart...and this place reminds me of good southern cooking. The location is in a building of a previous historic restaurant with a relatively small parking lot. But there is usually parking here. When you walk in, the decor is a mix of southern (think Louisiana, Alabama, and Florida). They have a little shop in the front that you can buy stuff from. You order at the counter and go to an open table with your marker so they know where to deliver your food. There is a bar in the back of the restaurant you can order from as well. EVERYONE here is nice and very helpful. From a food perspective, they have a pretty extensive menu. There is a breakfast/brunch and a lunch special menu. Omelettes, shrimp and grits, chicken, po boys, chicken and waffles, tacos, burgers, and salads are just the things I can remember seeing on the menu. I got the shrimp and grits and gumbo. YUM! Everything is seasoned well and cooked as expected. I definitely like this place and have to go back to try other things on the menu. So anyone up for a lunch date is welcome to join me!
google avatar

Meagan G.

Yelp
Was visiting my parents in Tampa and came here for dinner. It is very casual, you order at a counter and get a pager that alerts you when your food is ready. You seat yourself. There's a bar in the back to order drinks from. I had the Real Housewives of Odessa, which was delicious. For food we ordered the crab balls, fried pickles and I had the shrimp po boy. Everything was amazing. The decor is definitely like a fish shack. They have a gift shop with shirts and yeti cups. Pretty cool place for the area.
google avatar

Kevin G.

Yelp
Pretty great experience my first time visiting. Plenty of open seating and themed decor. We ordered a variety to get a good feel of the menu. The BLT with fried green tomato was a very interesting twist. The crab balls were all crab meat so that was a plus all around. The jumbo shrimp in the shrimp po' boy was a meal by itself. My only disappointment was the gumbo was well seasoned but lacked a good serving of meat. The service was outstanding and a very attentive wait staff went above and beyond!
google avatar

Drew G.

Yelp
Brunch was spectacular but the only two words you need to read are these: Tomato Gravy.

Yelp
10 out of 10 , ai would definitely go back again! I wish we stayed a bit closer to the restaurant because it is the cutest fish fry place ever! The place is huge, definitely family owned vibes! Everyone who works there is so kind and helpful and so proud about where they serve. The menu options are endless and they are very customizable. Im obsessed with their little home made sauce bar options! And their fish is so fresh and tasty! I want to go back and try breakfast next!
google avatar

Yelp
Breakfast was good, potatoes were iffy not my cup of tea. Returned a week later for dinner, fried shrimp was okay, fish tacos had a very hot sauce way too hot. Ask for on the side Fish sandwich was good but on the small side

Jack G.

Yelp
Loved everything about this place! Highly recommend the food, drinks, ambience, music, and playground

Yelp
My first time visit, and I think they have been fairly underrated. My experience was excellent. It helps of course that I happen to stop by on a Wednesday, and Wednesdays happen to be whiskey Wednesdays, and they have five dollar old fashions! Yes, five dollars! And they use Old Forester as the bourbon. We were greeted right away, and asked if we had dined with them before. When we said it was our first visit, they went through the menu with us. (Anything they have, you can get grilled, blackened, or fried.). All the seafood is fresh, and they have different specials that came in. And you can incorporate those into any of the menu items. For example, today they had hogfish so if I wanted to have a hogfish Ruben, I could have. You take your menus and go pick where you want to sit, then when you're ready to order, you actually go up to the counter to order and then they will bring the food to your table.... Same with alcohol drinks, go to the bar, order drinks and they will bring them to your table. My buddy said the chowder was very good and the Cuban was excellent, it looked delicious. I've never seen a Cuban look that good outside of a Cuban restaurant! I am very reluctant to try a grouper Ruben anywhere except thirsty Marlin in Palm Harbor. However, I decided to give it a chance because this is their own spin and they do it differently so it's not a true Reuben really. They do it on a brioche bun, with their own sauce , and I will say if you're like me, ask for extra sauerkraut. It was definitely a different take on a Ruben, but the fish was fantastic. I had mine blackened, cooked to perfection, sauce was very tasty. Cheese melted just right. They have a grouper BLT. I'm thinking about trying next time. Overall, the place has a cool vibe, if you're into bourbons, the bar has an incredible selection, everyone is super friendly from when you walk in the door, to When you place your orders, to the person cleaning and don't forget the bartender of course! Anything you order comes with a side of their cornbread which I I have to say is pretty tasty. The only thing I did not like was I had a side of the collard greens. They were very tasty, I just did not realize they had potatoes in with them. However, some people may love that, but since I was already having a sandwich and the cornbread tasted good enough for me to eat the whole thing, I did not need potatoes lol. Also, definitely want to try a shrimp Poboy and that Cuban sandwich, on a Wednesday of course !
google avatar

Michelle H.

Yelp
This restaurant reminds me of being in the Keys. They have a variety of seafood and Florida staples cooked in different ways. You order your food at the front and they give you a buzzer and bring you your food when it's ready. The cornbread was delicious the catfish flavor was a little strong. They also have a full bar.
google avatar

Yelp
Let me start by saying, I don't eat fish. I like and eat shellfish but regular fish never sits right so I avoid it but We stopped here on a whim and I was really surprised by how much I loved it. I got the blackened Yard chicken sandwich and it was very tasty and well seasoned. They were generous on the tomatoes which I appreciate. My boyfriend got the blackened shrimp Po boy and I had a bite... It was so freaking flavorful, I loved it. The sides were great too. I got the Mac and cheese, it was average but a great portion and when you dip it in the BBQ sauce it makes a perfect bite. My bf got the cheese fries and they were hot and crispy just how they should be. We have ZERO complaints. Oh and the manager was really pleasant and was the one who took our order and we saw him working along side the other employees, which was great to see. I will definately come back. My only regret is not taking photos before digging in!

Yelp
IF I COULD GIVE IT 6 STARS I WOULD!!! Greatest fish place I have ever been. I usually do not write reviews. I have in total wrote about 3 reviews in my lifetime (counting this) so usually when I do that's how you KNOW its GOOD. Got a Gator Tail Po boy for the first time with Cheese fries (ofc with bacon) and the cornbread that came with it. OUTSTANDING FOOD. The owner (I believe) was honestly such a kind and humble man, more power to him. He truly cares about his establishment and the customers, he was very open to explaining anything and was just a honest man with a pride for his place. I truly appreciate that. PLEASE give this place a try when you can, it is absolutely worth your bucks.

Yelp
In search for good Cajun black spicy blackened, we found this location did a very good job. The 5 stars is solely base on weekdays lunch specials. We found out that they have blackened grouper poboy and decided this is the way to try them. They did not disappoint me. Several good things for this poboy. The grouper was cut to cube then blackened. Which mean many surfaces blackened. Great area cover the spice and this item desirable. Dish come with two side. Order from the counter and deliver to table.

Yelp
My experience at Florida Cracker Fish Company was just so so. I'm not going to lie, the cornbread and collard greens were DELICIOUS. But that's about it. The crab balls were tasty, but every single one had pieces of shell which is just off putting and dangerous. The shrimp po boy tasted... wrong. Like the shrimp was bad or something. I only had two bites before stopping because bad seafood is just not something I'm willing to risk. The friend green tomatoes lacked flavor. The place itself is cute with the shop up front with all the goodies you can buy. It's an order at the counter and then get your food kind of place, so I can't comment too much on service, but the workers were all really nice during the interaction I did have. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be back.
google avatar

Renee E.

Yelp
This is counter service, which throws some people off, but I think fed into the old-Florida vibe. The weather was lovely so we sat out on the porch. Wish it was on a river bc that would also fit the vibe, but I won't let that detract from anything. My spouse got a smoked gimlet, which was tasty. He does not eat seafood and there are a handful of not-seafood dishes. He opted for chicken fingers and has been raving about them the rest of the weekend. Same for the cornbread that comes with every meal. I got the fish tacos with collard greens. The collard greens were fine, but I like them with a little kick and that was missing. I felt like the tacos were also missing a kick- I added the spicy sauce from the fried pickles and that helped. It's a little far from my house but I would go again if I'm in the area, although I'd get something different- a po boy or fried fish basket is probably more old-Florida than tacos anyway.

Yelp
Ok let's start off by saying this was different than I thought. This is not a sit down with service type restaurant. You walk in and place your order at the counter. Get the give you a buzzer and you find a table. They with bring your food to you once ready. All sauces are self serve at the sauce station. The to go containers are also self serve and located on the shelf above the garbage. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They also have a separate bar area if you want an alcoholic beverage. Gift shop in the front. I was a bit overwhelmed with how the setup was that I ordered wrong lol. I meant to get the shrimp basket but instead got the shrimp po boy which is a sandwich on a French baguette. It was just an awkward sandwich! The shrimp are large and the lettuce is piled so high that you really can't eat it comfortably. I ended up eating the shrimp and not the bread. There's actually nothing that could entice me to order that again. Collards were good. Hubs other Mac n cheese with bacon and the crab and corn chowder. But really good!! But a lot of bacon. We'd actually get without next time. Overall good experience. I think we know what we'd get next time we are in.

Yelp
My boss brought me here for lunch during the week. There were a few tables, but it wasn't full. The inside has been completely re-vamped from the old Ballyhoo Grill; still rustic, but much more airy and bright. You order at the front counter, they give you your drinks and a pager, and then you take a seat. Options to sit at are picnic tables inside and out, or high-top tables in the bar area with stools, which we chose. I wish they had more seating that had backs; a half booth along the wall was the only choice. Food came out in a timely manner, and I really liked the blackened grouper Reuben I ordered. Although the fish portion was on the small side, it was nicely blackened and filling. Fries were okay. I love the little piece of cornbread that came with every order. Condiments like ketchup and bbq sauces were available on the wall, although I could have done without the udder dispensers. The manager (I assume) was walking around, clearing trays and getting drink refills, which I thought was a nice touch. We should have asked him to turn down the music - it was loud, which made conversation tough. All in all a good experience, though, and I would definitely eat here again.

Yelp
Kids Night Tuesday- 5:30 to 7:30pm Balloon & Face Painting. Came back with the family to try dinner. Great friendly customer service. Breakfast & brunch coming soon. I gave cane for lunch but I'm more impressed with dinner menu. Side note - kids meal real good portion!!! Bar area and inside seating is clean. Family friendly atmosphere.

Yelp
Solid breakfast place that was about a block from our hotel(driving distance). Ample parking and plenty of seating. This place was caught our eye for the fish(grouper) but in the morning it is breakfast menu only until 11am. This is an order at the counter and then find your own seating type of restaurant. My dad wanted to try the fish but it wasn't available at the time but we decided to settle for a typical American breakfast meal. We enjoyed our meal and I always try to get some grits when I am in the south. Portions are large and filling(I couldn't finish everything)! If looking for breakfast not a bad place to stop in but not a lot of seafood/fish in the morning options. I did see shrimp and grits but everything else was typical American breakfast.

Yelp
A good selection of fresh seafood. Oysters were good. Sandwiches are the best! Nice deck to sit outside too.

Yelp
Stopped for lunch and had one of the best Grouper Po Boys I've ever had. Counter service with a full bar.

Yelp
We were infrequent visitors to the establishment that preceded FCFC at this location. This was our first outing to FCFC. Enjoyed it very much. Ambience is really a kind of fish camp vibe. Facility is clean, has very nice ratio of tables to floor space. Lots of wood, bright colors and fishy decor. One quibble is not enough tables with chairs as opposed to picnic tables. This is fine for families and younger diners but a little problematic for elders and those with mobility issues. Service is a rather odd mix of self service and table assistance. I would go one way or the other. The bourbon bar is impressive. However when I'm dining I don't really want to trek to another room to get drinks - even a glass of wine. The food was really very good. We went because my wife had a desire for shrimp and fries. We both had that along with slaw and fried green tomatoes w/ a nice remoulade. The shrimp and fries were perfectly cooked. The tomatoes surpassed them. Some of the best I've ever had. Definitely on the return visit list.

Yelp
Stopped on this Thursday to listen to JT Curtis https://facebook.com/events/s/jt-curtis-fla-cracker-fish-com/2245748852289904/ My first time, I was happy to find they have a great selection of whiskey. I had the Mahi Tacos with a side of coleslaw and piece of corn bread (spinach). It all was fresh and had amazing taste. Coming back with friends.

Yelp
We weren't too sure what to expect here as this was our first experience here. The only downside was you have to get up to the counter to order your food. They did bring it out to us and it was quick and for a place where you order at the counter, the service was great! They came out and made sure we were all set like 3-4 times, that part was super! The food was good, I had a burger, the others all ate the Grouper, in various configurations. The blackened grouper looked and smelled amazing, everyone that ate it said it was as good as it looked. Plus they have a full bar, and a GREAT bourbon selection too. We'll definitely be back here.

Yelp
We've tried to get in to eat a few times and it's been so busy. We decided to try for lunch and were able to walk right in. When I tell you that this restaurant brings me back in time to a good old southern restaurant, that would be an understatement. Having lived in North Florida, we miss the charm of a true Florida cracker restaurant. This place is delicious, nostalgic, affordable, and conveniently located to many different parts of Tampa. The mac & cheese is some thing I don't usually order in a restaurant because I am just so picky. The mac & cheese blows mine away! The fish sandwich was perfectly breaded and the tartar sauce was delicious. My husband got a fried chicken sandwich and his was equally delicious with its own batter. Despite being not much of a drinker, I would totally come back and have cocktails in the bar. The outdoor patio has such a cool vibe and it's just a great place to eat and drink and be happy. Located right along the bike trail, this is a great place to get a post bike ride meal. During our meal we were attended to by two separate employees who exude southern charm. If they were not raised in the south, they were trained by someone who was raised in the south. We can't wait to return.
