Where to Eat Near Hynes Convention Center

"Perfect for breakfast, lunch, or casual dinner, Flour is one of Boston’s iconic chains, with tasty pastries, sandwiches, salads, and more. Take a little walk from the convention center and be rewarded with a sticky bun. [Counter service]" - Dana Hatic

Google
Solid bakery with lots of options for baked goods. It was hard to choose. Includes sandwiches and salads. Really enjoyed the sticky bun the most. The pimento cheese was good, but didn't come with enough bread and ended up wasting some of the cheese. This is a good place for a quick bite to eat.

Google
One of my favorite chains since coming to Boston! I love their seasonal items, and truly miss the sweet potato sandwich. It was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had and highly recommend getting it if you ever get the chance. The pastries are also great, and so are the drinks and salads I've had. Only complaint is that this location is sort of small

Google
The food and coffee were great, and the staff were kind! We loved it so much that we visited twice on our trip. The atmosphere was very welcoming. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available. Definitely recommend.

Google
It was quite busy the mornings we went there since we were here over the weekend for a convention. Staff was friendly and quick! Their Columbian/Ethiopian blend coffee was great. Fruity and had body to it. We got the smoked turkey and tuna melt sandwiches. Both were tasty and fresh! They add a good amount of refreshing veggies in the sandwiches. The sticky bun was decadent and tummy. Literally a cinnamon roll with nuts. The olive oil loaf was decent. There's not much flavor, just a regular pound cake. Wouldn't recommend. The rice krispies were an amazing treat for an adult. I bought two more two days later before my train out of Boston.

Google
Such an incredible array of baked goods and coffee drinks to enjoy! Heard a lot about their sticky buns and had to try it. Also ordered a cinnamon roll. The sticky buns is so very good. So buttery. This pastry is sweet and with pecans to give that pastry a different texture. So good! We also had the cinnamon roll. Slathered in a sugary icing, this pastry went so well with a cup of coffee. The place is small and quaint. The restaurant provides the perfect place to simple get away from the city, relax with a great cup of coffee and a freshly made pastry. Enjoy!

Google
Great quality food. Decent prices for a major city and major college/tourist town. Does take time for your order to be ready. Very convenient to Copley, Prudential, Science Plaza areas. Across the street from Hilton and Sheraton hotels on Dalton Street. Recommend ordering ahead of time, or if the website says not available, go inside and order on the wall mounted tablets, which will be quicker than standing in line, which can be long.

Google
Good Bakery for when you’re in the area! This side of BackBay is lacking of that many good bakeries, and I think Flour is one of the best ones to hit up! They get pretty crowded, and after lunch the selection is much less, but I ended up really enjoying the currant scone! Not too sweet, right amount of flavor, hit all the marks. I think sticking to pastries is the move as I haven’t heard their cakes are as good, but for on the go, they were quick and yummy!

Google
Incredible food, not too busy, and we found parking right out front! My friend took me here for my birthday meal and I’m glad I spent it with Flour. Excellent choice :-).

Yelp
I know Flour is famous for their sticky buns but don't sleep on the cinnamon rolls! The icing is so good! I was happy to revisit Flour after trying the pastries many years ago when they only had their original location. This location was on the small ish side with some seating but it was packed in the morning so couldn't snag a seat. Ambiance is industrial modern feel with friendly and helpful staff and warm coffee aroma enveloping you as you enter. I ordered a croissant (still tasted great and flaky the next day!), cinnamon roll (staff suggestion when asked for a less sweet alternative to the sticky bun bc I wasn't in the mood for it), and tea. Order came out quickly and all scrumptious! Overall very happy with the experience and food. I'd love to come back to try again someday, maybe the sticky buns next time!

Yelp
Outstanding experience here! Some Boston residents might tell you Flour is a tourist trap, but trust me, it's a must stop for anyone visiting or living here. Although it might be somewhat pricey, compared to other chain bakeries in the area, it's really not that bad, especially for the quality that you're getting. Starting off, the atmosphere in the cafe was cute, energetic, and bright thanks to a variety of seating and the large windows surrounding the building. The service only added to the experience: the cashier was friendly and joyful. She even helped me decide what to order! But let's talk about the food: everything I tried was delicious! You could tell it was high quality and made with fresh ingredients. The matcha latte was incredibly creamy with a nice grassy flavor. The yogurt was soft and packed with a fresh level of sweetness. The quiche was a velvety smooth texture accompanied nicely by the crunchy salad and the flavors were exactly what you'd want in a warm dish to start your day! Finally, the rice crispy was amazing with a subtle sweetness and a comforting buttery aftertaste. Overall, I'd highly recommend everything we tried, but anything on the menu is sure to impress!

Yelp
We only ordered desserts and they were good, but nothing spectacular. I love blueberry pie and this did not hit the spot. The boston cream pie/tiramisu was a fun change to regular boston cream pie. I love that the menu is well-labeled for common allergens/intolerances as someone who is allergic to certain nuts.

Yelp
" Pastry Heaven" The pastries including the cakes or birthday cakes are just delicious. It's literally like a slice of heaven you can eat . The service is super friendly and fun . The vibe is welcoming. I really enjoyed my time here . Parking is difficult but manageable. Just always read the signs before parking .

Yelp
Thank you fellow Yelpers for helping me to find this local gem! After traveling since early morning, I needed something easy, light and delicious...Flour Bakery delivered. Both my BLT and iced coffee were fantastic, and the staff were fast and friendly.

Yelp
Flour was on my go-to list when visiting Boston - had to try their famous sticky pecan bun (warmed up) which was soooo sweet and fluffy. IT was delicious to share and to pair with an iced americano. There weren't too many savory pastries, but the pizza one was tasty! Def opt for the sticky or cinnamon roll buns when at Flour! They sell cute merch and grab n' go meals which looked super fresh and convenient. Saw many people order the sticky bun and breakfast egg sandwich, which I'll have to order next trip to Flour!

Yelp
Perfect spot for a quick yummy lunch! The quiche and side salad was perfect! Haven't eaten the dessert yet, carrot cake and coconut cream pie, but I know it will be yummy as well!

Yelp
Tried this place out for my first little breakfast in Boston. It was across the street from my hotel and I kept starring at it from my room window because it had the cutest shop name painted on the windows. It's a small bakery + cafe but oh so cute. They had some really good baked treats and I loved the decor of the place and the merch they were selling inside. I ended up ordering the matcha latte iced with coconut milk and the applewood smoked bacon blt. The blt was honestly so good. It's such a simple sandwich but they elevated it with the focaccia toast, arugula, and balsamic vinaigrette, and loads of bacon. The sandwich was a really good size and definitely plenty to fill you up. The matcha latte was good and simple, I didn't add any sweetener this time so nothing special but good. We also got the currant- spelt and oat scone to share. I was surprised by the flavor on this scone. Had a hint of sweetness but not too much it was not too dry but also just enough chew in it. I didn't think I would like it at first but I really enjoyed it and could see myself getting that again for a quick sweet treat. I also loved the service here. Our cashier was super sweet and she complimented me on my makeup and I love a good compliment. I also loved how this place was inclusive for all and showed representation of all ppl with the staff, flags, and signs around. It's always nice to feel that your community is welcome somewhere. Wish we had one of these locally for me, but anytime I'm near one, I will be going to try more treats and drinks.

Yelp
The ham and cheese croissant was delicious. There's some mustard in it which was different than I have had before and it was absolutely delightful. There's staff were great and the food came out quickly despite the very busy morning. It was very busy inside but there was seating available outside and it was just what we needed for a quick chat and visit with friends.

Yelp
Wowza. I will be dreaming of this places gluten free bread forever. They have tons of places across town and it's well worth the visit. Lots of delicous looking pastries and sandwhiches. We tried 3 different sandwhiches and a few pastries..all delicous. I especially loved their breakfast sandwhich. Can't wait to come back again.

Yelp
Ordered: Large Maple Vanilla Latte (~$5) with oat milk (+75¢) Sticky Bun (~$5) Banana Bread (~$5) Aya's take: Flour Bakery + Cafe is hard to miss as there are quite a few locations throughout Boston. This location was closest to me and I feel like I lucked out because the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful - top notch customer service! The inside is also bright with a decent amount of seating. The Sticky Bun is truly what dreams are made of. I highly recommend asking them to heat it up. It's warm, gooey, crunchy and super heavy. I could only have a few bites of it which makes it perfect for sharing or to munch on throughout the day. I'm a sucker for Banana Bread and this is one of the best I've had at a fast-casual bakery. The banana tasted authentic, it wasn't too sweet, and it was super moist. Another must order! The Maple Vanilla Latte was warm and soothing but a bit too sweet and artificial tasting for my liking. Especially when paired with the sweet pastries I got, I should've gotten a coffee without added syrups or sugar. Overall, worth a try if you're in Boston!

Yelp
I love Flour Bakery. Everything about it is incredible - the food, the drinks, the service, and the vibe. I have gone multiple times and have been impressed with my experience each time. I have tried different sandwiches, and I have to give a special mention to their breakfast egg sandwich - it is so delicious and also very filling. They also have so many options to choose from, and their pastry selection is one of the biggest I've seen in Boston. I am also always raving about their Pumpkin Spice Latte - when it's in season, I always get it because it is the best Pumpkin Spice Latte I have ever had. The cafe itself is so cute and I love how it has so much light - it feels very relaxing to sit in. The servers are always friendly and accommodating, and the orders always come out quick. I really love Flour Bakery and I always recommend it if you're looking for a cute outing for brunch, lunch, or even just a coffee!

Yelp
LOVED this cafe! The sticky sticky bun is one of the most popular items on the menu and I can understand why! The pecans were amazing and I loved the flavor! The cappuccino is not the best but still paired well with the bun! They have a ton of different options on the menu! There is ample Seating and this would be a good spot to work with others! The service is fast and they all seem so nice

Yelp
Very nice sweets, parties, and savory bites. This is a nice quick sit-down spot, though really functions more of a grab and go kind of place. Service is great. Definitely recommend checking it out once, the business is fairly iconic.

Yelp
I love the people here; they carry a friendly, honest, warm attitude as flavorful as the pastries that are baked here. I have gotten a large oat milk latte and four pastries that are recommended by the staff. The latte was perfectly heated to combat the current Boston cold winds. The pastries were all not overpowering! I loved how light they were and how nicely they can be paired with a latte. (1) Blueberry muffin (2) Ham and cheese croissant (3) Cinnamon bun - a classic (4) Sugar Brioche bun I went to this inspired by my previous lab PI introducing the breakfast sandwich with light mayonnaise. The egg is so soft. I love the location and atmosphere of the cafe that is suitable for delightful conversations and studying with headphones.

Yelp
Incredible! The food and coffee were great, and the staff were kind! We loved it so much that we visited twice on our trip. The atmosphere was very welcoming. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
TLDR: Classic bakery + cafe with really delicious sandwiches and excellent pastries all at a super reasonable price (but maybe because I'm used to SF prices). Not a TON of seating so beware during lunch time, but at other times you should probably be able to nab a seat or two. Get the BLT, Mushroom melt, Banana Bread, and of course, the sticky bun here. FOOD: 1. BLT (5/5): Classic, delicious BLT. Large size and super filling. Can't go wrong with this one. 2. Mushroom melt (5/5): Actually not a strong mushroom flavor -- the melted cheese they use is probably the star of the show as well as the warm, textured sourdough. The addition of the mushroom does give this sandwich a deep flavor profile like an umami bomb. Unlike anything else I've had, you should really try it if you like these flavors. 3. Banana Bread (5/5): A really excellent, thick slice of banana bread that's not too sweet. It's on the denser side and is perfectly moist. Highly recommend. 4. sticky Bun (5/5): What they're known for. Was sold out by 2 pm on a Sunday when I came but I've had it so many time before that I'd highly recommend you try it. It is REALLY sticky though so be ready. SERVICE: You order at the register and then take a number to where you're sitting. They bring your food to you and you can get yourself water from a water station near the door. Utensils are also there for you to grab. Overall really nice people. ENVIRONMENT: Mostly high top seating and then communal seating at a big table (with a few smaller tables in the back). Lots of people are sitting here doing work but I personally didn't see a ton of outlets so just note that in case your laptop doesn't last a long time without charge.

Yelp
For an establishment that's become a chain, Flour is great. Better than a Starbucks for example. The espresso drinks are made from a machine but the pastries are fresh. This location was busy even at 7:30am on a random Wednesday. Sticky bun was superb - very gooey.
google avatar

Trey L.

Yelp
I came here for the sticky bun I saw on food network years ago. This was one of my first ever bookmarks but it's been years so there's a ton of these in the city now. The one I went to didn't have the sticky bun so I got the Oreo, the chicken tikka pita, a strawberry spritzer and a brown butter Rice Krispie treat. Just based on the spritzer, the Pita, and the Oreo alone it's a must visit. They nailed the Oreo, especially the filling and the cookie is softer like a warm Oreo....fire. The Spritzer I enjoyed because I'm sick of the imitation strawberry flavoring in most drinks. This wasn't too sweet and the strawberry flavor was their without some private equity cheap imitation medicinal flavoring. The chicken tikka pita had chicken tikka, tamarind sauce and a ton of cucumber. Flavorful with a soft pita all the way thru. I haven't even tried the brown butter rice Krispy treat yet.

Yelp
Pretty okay brunch spot. Tried the sticky bun and the breakfast egg sandwich. The sandwich was really overpowered by the mustard so I would personally only get it with less sauce. The sticky bun was good and like a more sweet cinnamon roll. It was a bit too sweet for me but otherwise was good. They packaged it for take out without cutlery which was messy. Matcha was a dilute and began separating rapidly. They had a good range of vegan and vegetarian food options too which was good.

Yelp
This is the second location of Flour I have been to and it was just as impressive! The consistency of goods was really amazing. Everything we ate was fresh and well made. Both spots were cute with a friendly staff. A really nice place to sit down and have some food or even a quick cup of coffee. This one was placated next to the Hilton and Sheraton in Back Bay. Super convenient. I'll definitely return if I'm the area of a location.

Yelp
Loved it. Their coffee is great, sticky bun was very buttery and full of flavors. Servers were very kind and friendly, we bought some baked goods for gifts and they gave it to us in cute little boxes.
google avatar

Carroll V.

Yelp
Solid coffee shop, with spot on latte. Gooey sticky buns--great! Can be crowded but service works through the crowds effectively.

Yelp
Great food, excellent coffee. Friendly service. Tiny place so seating might be a challenge. Avocado toast and breakfast sandwich. Epic chai latte!

Yelp
After leaving my initial review, one of the managers, An-Chi, contacted me to apologize for my experience and rectify the situation. She really went above and beyond and to me, that really meant a lot that this business strives to provide a great experience for each customer. And for that (and the yummy food), I will return back to this location whenever I'm in the area!

Yelp
I had this avacado toast at the Farnsworth location and feel in love with it. I had assumed all the locations would be the same with how they prepare it. So when I had to go to the Sheraton for a week for work (with Flour Bakery outside it at this location) I assumed I would eat this toast every morning. Not so much the case. I went my first day down in south end to start my day after my workout and ordered my toast. Online orders (I assume) over ran the wait from time I placed order (after a wait) to the 15-20 min wait to receive it. When I got it, I noticed the presentation as sloppy. At Farnsworth they took time to slice up the egg and present it nicely ontop and were careful about the proportions of the seasoning (cheese and other ingredients). This was slopped together and was terrible tasting. From it falling apart with sogginess (even though I ate it on a table outside Flour Bakery) to the copious amount of cheese to the egg that was just sliced in half and feel off the bread immediately. I was disappointed. If you are going for a drink or a pre-made scone/pastry maybe this is your spot. But if you are looking for quality in the items you order I think it's too hustle and bustle at this location to be able to supply a good quality of items.

Yelp
Dropped by to try some yummy desserts! Purchased the Lola Cookie and raspberry pop tart. They were devine. Cute place and nice desserts! The desserts are even nice to give as gifts or bring to a party!
google avatar

Jill C. J.

Yelp
Nice servers (which isn't always the case in Boston), nice place, fantastic scone. The extra dry cappuccino was good. I'll be back and may have more info. Looked like some tasty and healthy stuff as well.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
My friend and I meet up on a Sunday at 9 am, and although there was a line to order, it moved quickly, and we had no trouble finding seats inside. I tried the cherry chocolate muffin ($5, vegan) which was so delicious with a nice blend of crunch from the chocolate and soft tartness from the cherries. My friend got a quiche which came with a nice simple salad and all of it was devoured in a flash which I will take as a good sign! Seems like a great place to also get work done, although the seats are not the most comfortable for sitting in for more than 1-2 hours.

Beth L.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. My only problem is they only offer pork bacon. I feel they should also offer turkey bacon. Not everyone eats pork bacon
google avatar

Malek B.

Yelp
Decent go to bakery, multiple locations across town. Consistent baked good quality, variety of selection. Haven't tried their coffee. Staff seem to be on their game - called ahead late on day to ask if they still had croissants. They said, without prompting: Yes and I'll pack them up, put your name on them, so no one else takes the last ones. I wonder if they're just local or started down the road on that icky corporate vibe.
google avatar

Peter Z.

Yelp
What can I say that hasn't already been said about Flour Bakery? Let me try... Consistently quality products are what this place is about whether it's breakfast or lunch you can't go wrong. Think raspberry pop tarts, the best banana bread in the city, and don't even get me started about the sticky buns! Lunch options include fresh creative Sammy's and salads with Uber fresh ingredients. Always busy but very prompt and friendly staff will take good care of you.
google avatar

Ani J.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious baked goods. I love the coconut cake and the birthday cake. Not a fan of the cinnamon rolls because they have cream cheese frosting. I think they should have buttercream.

Kaylee G.

Yelp
I'm not a huge flour fan and it's never my pick of cafe, I think there's so many other better ones in Boston. However I love the sticky bun it's so good and a must-get so there's two stars for that but never get the Boston cream pie it's so bad
google avatar

Sharon L.

Yelp
Sticky buns & hot coffee - 2 absolute musts from Flour Bakery + Cafe! My friend recommended Flour to me prior to my Boston trip, and luckily, this location was conveniently located near the Hilton and Sheraton hotels in Back Bay. The coffee here is piping hot - just what we needed on a super cold morning. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they can heat up the sticky bun - highly recommend heating it. My fiance & I also ordered a blueberry muffin, but the sticky bun was enough for us to split for breakfast. It's not overly sweet, but it was just heavy enough for us to split. We ended up eating the blueberry muffin a bit later, but honestly it was just okay. Would probably skip this next time. Service is friendly & quick - the line moves fast.

Kit D.

Yelp
No words... I think I had the best BLT sandwich I've ever had in my life from Flour. Honestly, might have to rethink Tatte and start coming here more often. Prices are similar, but Flour has a bigger menu to choose from. Many good options with the baked goods and sandwiches. The BLT was delightful. The bacon was cooked perfectly and was a solid thick cut-- it was also glazed on both sides with honey. The lettuce and tomato were both very fresh, and the mayonnaise was tasty. What really did it for me was the bread. Lightly toasted and buttered on both sides. Truly super delicious!!! You can never go wrong with a BLT from here.
google avatar

Kristine C.

Yelp
This place was yummy! I want to try more items next time! Service was decently fast. I would come again
google avatar

Darcy D.

Yelp
The staff here are the absolute sweetest! They are bubbly and just the type of people you want to greet you before your coffee in the morning! I came here because when I'm staying at a hotel, I always try to venture out to local places for food. Flour is located right next to the Sheraton and Hilton in Back Bay! I just walked right across the street. It was very clean and the decor was typical for a coffee shop. I got the sausage egg sandwich and a cold brew. When I opened the sandwich, I was worried because the egg was square and I thought everything would taste like processed fake food, but I was wrong! It was VERY GOOD! The arugula, tomato, and the sauce on the sandwich were my favorite part. It makes a sausage sandwich seem lighter and fresher. Overall, everything was great, but the staff is what really delighted me. Shoutout to them! I'll be coming back here!
google avatar

Felicia T.

Yelp
This location has a self serve kiosk as well as a cashier, so we opted for the kiosk! I saw a past review mentioned the BLT and I was sold. I have a fondness for BLT sandwiches. So we got the BLT, mushroom melt, and a sticky bun. The BLT is probably one of the best I've ever had. I think it's the sundried tomato aioli, sun dried tomato is just a flavor that's so delicious and unique I can't not eat it. The mushroom melt is deliciously soft and rich of mushroom flavor! Definitely if you're ready for something heavier in flavor! The sticky bun reminds me of a croissant in flavor? But the texture isn't flakey, it's cakey. But so delicious regardless! I'm sure their other menu items would be just as delicious!
google avatar

Ari C.

Yelp
This is a small coffee shop with very limited seating, mainly for the grab-and-go crowd. The staff were friendly and polite, but the coffee was uninspiring. In a blind test, I would not be able to distinguish their coffee from the proverbial office coffee that came out of the pre-ground pouch and has been on the hot plate for the past five hours. I would rate both Dunkin' and Starbucks above it and would not (and didn't) repeat it.

Seowon K.

Yelp
It's not easy to make a bad sandwich. But $14 for this ice cold airline sandwich is not worth it. Latte was good.
google avatar

Fatboy S.

Yelp
Would have gone 4 1/2 stars if available. Really good treats here. They were out of the sticky buns when I got there, but the sticky bun bread pudding was bomb. All of the other bars and cookies were really good also. Customer service was friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Antony A.

Yelp
Great sticky bun, decent coffee and matcha, service was fast and I appreciate how they made things right after my previous bad experiences.
google avatar

Katherine D.

Yelp
This place lives up to the hype. Everything, including the atmosphere, is incredible. The baked goods are awesome... obviously. The hot food is also amazing. We went twice. Once we ordered in line, which moved fast. Once, we ordered online and picked up. Equally as efficient.
google avatar

Sonia N.

Yelp
My daughter and I popped in for a quick bite and while I tend to lean more towards savory and she favors sweet, both of us were pleasantly surprised with how amazing everything tasted. I went with the roasted broccoli melt myself since it sounded so unique and it was a home run. The bread was pressed like a crunchy panini and the red cabbage, cheese and broccoli came together so well. My daughter opted to go with their pastry selections and she was all smiles while chomping on her baked French toast and brownies. There is limited seating here though so it's better to come at less popular hours if you'd like to dine in. Otherwise, grab and go any of their stuff if you're in the area. Your taste buds will thank ya!

Yelp
Flour was located across the street from my hotel Hilton Back Bay. The first morning I found out the secrets that I will now share with you. They are well known, well even famous for their sticky buns. Bobby Flay featured them in an episode on Food Network in 2019. Second their cream filled donuts that are only made on weekends are to die for. Lucky for me staff at the hotel gave me heads up. Over two days I hit them up and tried various bakery items such as muffins, croissants and avocado toast. I even took a few things back to the front desk staff. But the hero was the sticky bun and for me especially the cream filled donuts with sugar on the outside. Staff was super too! I encountered most of the same staff each day and they recognized me. They do more the bakery with sandwiches too! A gem of a place and I think there is another location. 4.5 rounding up.
google avatar

Ploy N.

Yelp
Thoroughly enjoyed their Egg Breakfast Sandwich. They're super nice and accommodated my request to sub in turkey as well. Fresh english muffin/brioche buns, stacked high with a pile of smoked turkey slices on a bed of fresh arugula, tomato, and fluffy egg souffle. Yes Please! Everything went really well together and for the price, it's a fulfilling meal. Would have loved it even more if it's toasted. Their bakeries looked alright but not good enough to entice me. Do let me know if they're actually to-die-for.
google avatar

Amanda K.

Yelp
Stopped by Flour the other day for breakfast and it was pretty good. We got the sticky buns and cinnamon roll. The sticky bun was so good but the cinnamon roll was pretty stale and a little on the hard side. I'd go back and get the sticky bun again but I'd skip the cinnamon roll for the next time.

Yelp
I enjoyed a really tasty chocolate stout cupcake that I got as a birthday reward--thank you, Flour :) Overall the cupcake was great! It was fairly chocolatey and was pretty sweet (but not sickly sweet like cupcakes often are). I loved the Irish creme filling and the overall aesthetic of the cupcake! The white chocolate shavings on top was too sweet for my taste though. I also love Flour's grilled cauliflower sandwich and their tcho chocolate baked goods.
