"Run by one of the former owners of the Flaky Tart bakery, Flour on First serves up sticky cinnamon rolls, slices of frittata, and a rotating cast of seasonal pastries, making it a convenient place to hit for a before-beach breakfast once you’ve arrived from the city on Seastreak." - Marion Brewer

Wonderful fresh bakery. Friendly service. Absolutely spotless. Their cookies are amazing. Especially their peanut butter cookies. You can actually get a slice of cake. They had breakfast items, cupcakes, cakes, cakes to order, and coffee. Delicious!

A lovely, little bake shop with delicious and delightful offerings. I brought home bagged chocolate chip cookies, a roasted chick pea salad, and some (gluten free!) coconut and chocolate bites. I was told they create (gluten free) macaroons on Saturday. I'll have to stop back then to give them a try! Returned on April 12, 2023 and enjoyed a delightful salad and quiche! (And more coconut and chocolate bites!!)

First bit of advice. GET THERE EARLY!! Opens at 8:30 am. Only 1 blueberry muffin and 4 brioche left. We basically cleaned them out, vowing not to sleep in next time we're in Atlantic Highlands. The cinnamon rolls were the best we have ever had. No wonder they close at 2:30 pm, nothing left to sell!

Flour on First has been our favorite bakery for many years...their cakes, pies and all other treats have been part of our holiday celebrations as a staple. So when Ryan and I got engaged, there was no question as to where we were ordering our wedding cake. We decided to go with two cakes, a HIS and HERS and it could not have been more perfect! They even used the same font from our invitations to write on the cakes...WOW. Jessie always takes such good care of us whether at the bakery or over the phone. Her customer service makes us feel part of the Flour on First family. We'll be back, as we always do, on the weekends for all the yumminess this magnificent bakery has to offer. Thank you!

The creations taste even better than they look - and each piece is a work of art / sculpture (follow Insta page). Cakes, cookies, tarts, holiday items and more: you can tell they use top tier ingredients and take pride in what they do. Photos attached are the Yule Log cake - check out the details like meringue mushrooms, candied cherry berries, buttercream holly, etc - and cookies (choc chip and nutty shortbread are too good to share). Also, Jesse who manages the counter is fantastic and ensures you leave with something that will please. If you live in NYC, this place wins over any posh bakery downtown; it’s a five minute walk from Atlantic Highlands ferry terminal. You will be a hero importing treats back to NYC! PS, their salads and frittatas for lunch are a family fave, too. Highest recommendation possible!!!!

I got 4 things and all were home runs. The crème brûlée brioche was so amazing, as was the mini carrot cake cupcake. Love that they have tiny treats

The food here is amazing. It is made by someone who actually loves what they do. The cookies are out of this world including the cakes. Chef Laura and her staff are a pleasure to deal with always. Be prepared to eat.... a lot.

Yelp
This little bakery is perfect, everything delicious. I'll be back buying birthday cakes. This is a treat yourself breakfast stop that will warm your heart.

Yelp
Ordered last minute a chocolate birthday cake. It was a small cake for 6-8 people and I thought very expensive for such a small cake. Pleasantly surprised! The cake was to die for - so delicious and fresh. The best cake that I have ever tasted - by far! If you're looking for pasty that's QUALITY, go to Flour On First. You will spend a little more, but it's definitely worth it!

Yelp
We were in the area and had the desire for some kind of dessert pastry. This location was easy to find and had sufficient parking. The desserts were top class. The service was good. The location had a nice bar type seating in front of the window which gave a view of the downtown area.

Yelp
Please note Yelp, autocorrect changed Atlantic Highlands to Atlantic City! Please edit this. I was so thrilled that the vacuum posed by the Flaky Tart closing has been filled, in the same location, by one of the original partners. Old world, hand crafted baked goods, mostly sweet but a good number of savory, fill the cases. Terrific quality, great flavors, kind staff. It's not cheap, but here you get what you pay for. Conveniently just of RT36, stop in and bring a snack or lunch (French ham and Gruyere croissants) to nearby Sandy Hook for a seaside picnic!

Yelp
They provided cake pops and a delicious Red Velvet cake for my daughter's Bridal Shower on 10/01/22. I received wonderful compliments on everything. The cake pops were decorated beautifully. And the Script on the cake was impeccable. The team is wonderful to work with and they were very accommodating to all my request. I will definitely use them in the future

Yelp
Can we talk about their frittata's?! They are the best minniuth county has to offer. No other place makes a frittata like theirs! I only wish they would offer catering for them.

Yelp
My MIL purchased their carrot cake for Easter. She appreciated the ease of holiday ordering & pick up. Everyone loved the incredibly delicious taste! You can tell it's made with fresh ingredients and gorgeous presentation. I can say it's the best tasting carrot cake I've had. YES it was worth every calorie! I can't wait for the next occasion for a Bakery run I know I'll be heading to Flour on First.
