"The café sits atop the florist of the same name and serves a small menu of Paranakan food. Sambal tumis ikan pari, or sambal fish curry, is rich and aromatic, whereas assam prawn strikes the perfect balance between sweet and sour. Dimly-lit rooms are decorated in maximalist style with a Chinese theme – red lanterns, flowers, art, sculptures and patterns cover every surface. Intimate service from the friendly owner makes diners feel right at home." - Michelin Inspector

Really delicious, and the environment really nice vibe. The ladies adjourned in kebaya nyonya style. The effort stretches out. Acar is the favorite. Brinjal egg dish is something new. Rendang chicken 😋😋😋 Homemade drink lemon grass with ginger punch, warms the soul. Blue rice is delicious. Worthy to pay. Thank you for good meals and service 🙏 We're lucky to stay nearby walking distance.

A very unique place to have a meal. It is decorated with the peranakan features which enhanced your mood and appetite. It's perfect for photography, especially the 2nd floor with all the antique furnitures. We order total 8 dishes, all up size portion for 8 pax. I personally like the Belanda egg which is simple but rich in flavor, sweet and sour with tamarin sauce. The fried chicken was special, crunchy on the out, moist inside. The asam prawn size was a bit too small, 8pieces. The sambal tumis ikan pari was ok, not too spicy not too sour. The tu Tor sour was a bit let down against my expectation, not to say not nice but can be better. Lot Bak was good. The blue pee rice was great, fragrant and soft. Ju Hu char can be better with more "Ju Hu"😆, the sambal was perfect match with it. The service was good and super friendly. Overall it's a great place for gathering and a good meal. But the price was on the higher side. It's was a whooping rm500plus for my 8 dishes with drinks (rm6.80 for all drinks which I find it super expensive, but it's refillable for a pot order). No doubt it's still a great experience!

Flower Mulan Nyonya Café on Burma Road is a charming Michelin Guide–listed restaurant that beautifully captures the essence of Peranakan cuisine. From the moment the dishes arrive, you can tell the attention to detail is exceptional. The white rice and blue pea rice both taste premium, fragrant, and perfectly complement the array of vibrant dishes. The curry chicken stands out with its succulent texture and rich, aromatic gravy, while the lobak is tender inside and crispy outside — a true delight with every bite. The ikan jaket sambal is another highlight, bursting with flavor and spice that pairs wonderfully with the rice. The ju hu char, served with fresh lettuce and sambal, offers a delicious crunch and a pleasant spiciness that feels truly home-style. The sambal petai prawns are equally impressive — plump, spicy, and cooked just right to retain their juicy sweetness. To end the meal, the sago gula melaka and bubur cha cha make for a perfect dessert duo — sweet, creamy, and refreshing after a hearty Nyonya feast. The waitress thoughtfully recommended exploring the café’s interior decor after dining, and it was indeed worth it — filled with vintage touches, creative paintings, and nostalgic Peranakan flair. Flower Mulan Nyonya Café is not just about the food; it’s an experience that blends culture, taste, and art. Truly one of the best Nyonya restaurants I’ve visited, deserving of its Michelin recognition.

While walking along the streets, we had this craving for something sweet and I came across this lovely place… once inside, you are taken to a whole different world with antique artifacts from the yesteryears period…. The service is from the heart; the dessert offerings were divine; and the place is magical. After finishing off the food.. we took a stroll upstairs and your senses go into overload mode… and you don’t want to leave…. We will be back for a lovely meal soon🙏

The atmosphere was amazing and the food, delicious. Always love Nyonya food. Thanking the lady boss who took our orders and ensuring that we didn’t order too much. The belacan is simply amazing 👍

Lovely space to experience nonya food and culture! I highly recommend the egg blanda Sambal Tunis Ikan Pari, blue rice and the Kueh pie tie and their fried chicken! We came at About 7:45pm in the evening and food came in about 10minutes time. After dinning they even have a museum space for exploring on the second level!

The food is above average, but not quite like authentic Nyonya cuisine. The portions are small and the prices are high. The decoration is amazing. Parking is very limited, so I suggest using e-hailing.

We landed in this Peranakan restuarant in Penang on our 1st night. It did not disappoint. They have my favourite dish viz Perut Ikan. It was perfectly done and brought me back to my childhood days. The shredded sengkuang was equally good and was up there. Although the assam detail sambal prawns was a bitbof a let down for me as it was sourish and had not enough balance in its taste. We finished off with the yam desert which was unique as it had the combo of red bean, potato besides the yam. The place is also nicely decorated with all things nyonya. The air-conditioning was a bit too cold for me.
