Jose is great! I recently needed a shape-up for my undercut and decided to check out Floyd’s Barbershop and it did not disappoint! I’m a female with long hair but have an undercut in the back that I like to show off when I want a little “spice.” I walked in on a Friday afternoon and was greeted right away by Jose, who shared pricing and was able to take me immediately. The shop has a clean, semi-punk vibe with chill music and great energy. I planned to just get a shape-up but decided last minute to add a design. Jose, who specializes in designs, helped me choose a simple V-design that turned out great. He gave me a clean, detailed cut. He was so personable and patient. Tammy, the manager also welcomed me as a new client, which was a nice touch. I’m so glad I found this place. I’ll definitely be back. I think I’ve found my go-to local barbershop!

Dakota is amazing! The only one who I will let near my hair with a pair of scissors! ❤️ She has helped me with the transition of my hair from being really thick to becoming thinner, even took the time to explain the importance of test strands before coloring with this change even if my hair has handled it before. I appreciate the attention to detail and care she takes! 10/10 always recommend

Barber Rob is the real deal! If you’re looking for more than just a haircut, Barber Rob is your guy. From the moment you sit in his chair, you know you’re in good hands. He’s laser-focused on his craft, knows exactly what he’s doing, and delivers a precision cut every single time. You don’t have to explain much — he just gets it. But the experience doesn’t stop there. Rob’s attention to detail and commitment to excellent service are unmatched. The relaxing massage at the end is the cherry on top — and yes, he sings too! His energy is contagious, and you leave not just looking fresh, but feeling great. I highly recommend booking with Rob. Trust me, once you get a cut from him, there’s no going back. He’s truly fantastic.

Google
Dakota has been my barber for a little over 3 years now and I won’t even sit in another chair! I have followed her every time and am so glad she landed at a place like Floyd’s. The one time I “cheated” and got my haircut by someone else, I had to go to her to fix it and learned my lesson. Anyone who has hair needs to meet her asap, you won’t be disappointed!

Google
Dakota was absolutely amazing , she takes her time and really listens to the clients wants . She keeps you entertained during the whole visit and really makes it a great experience!!

The Fade Master (Rob) is meticulous when cutting my hair. Great cut/fade every single time. Highly recommend. 100/100.

Google
Tammy was incredibly encouraging and skilled! I came to her after I ended up with a cut that made me feel awful, and she took the time to listen to my concerns and explain her process as she corrected the look. She was kind, patient, experienced, and knew exactly what to do. I arrived feeling embarrassed and left feeling confident. Definitely book with her!

Google
Excellent service! Raquel gave me one of the best haircuts I've every had. Great stylist and extremely friendly. Will be back for sure!

Yelp
Ive been coming to this Floyds in Crofton for many years now. Im embarrassed to say that the young lady who cut my hair did an excellent job. Very detailed. But I cannot recall her name. In recent years since the pandemic making an online reservation has kind of taken the place of walking in. I have mixed feelings about it only because the wait sometimes is longer than the haircut itself, and well if you can't honor the time then don't make us reserve a time. My time off is often brief and usually filled with errands. I don't want to waste a minute sitting and waiting. That complaint out of the way, Floyds employees excellent hair stylists and are extremely friendly and priced fair. I highly recommend.

Yelp
My son just came home from college and his regular barber was not available so we decided to visit this shop... never again. Myrick showed up 10mins late for the appointment, pushed my son's hairline back about two/three inches, hasn't a clue how to do faded sides, and then had the nerves to rush my son at the end of his appointment when he asked him to make a correction. Unprofessional, rude, and a terrible barber. I was the one who made this appointment and now feel bad, I should have just had him wait for his barber. We paid $42 for this cut that's not even worth $1 - photo taken right after he came home from the shop Friday.

Yelp
Good Afternoon. I am currently sitting on your Crofton location. I had an appointment at 4:40pm which was 40 minutes ago. I was told that the guy who had my appointment decided to take someone else even though I was actually 5 minutes early. and when he was done with that person he just left. so I am still sitting here waiting for a haircut. this is absolutely unacceptable. the only reason I am still sitting here is to because I have a funeral tomorrow 4 hours a way. I am now late leaving for the drive and haven't even started my haircut yet. I will never use this place again. this is by far the worst customer service I have ever seen. my family is sitting in the car waiting for me to leave for the funeral. as someone who works in customer service it is the most unprofessional and ridiculous thing I have ever seen. to not only try to squeeze someone else in for extra money but to leave your appointment still waiting and rolling out. not acceptable. and I am going to tell everyone I know that this is the worst experience I have ever had. what is the point of an appoint when your employees don't give a damn about the schedule and will literally walk out with someone waiting for them specifically. there is no excuse for this. atrocious. UPDATE: The dude who had my appointment was Rob. he is the worst employee I have ever seen and if I owned this place he wouldn't have a job tomorrow. Thank God for Donnie who could help me out... almost every hour after my appointment but he took his appointments fist... go figure!

S G.

Yelp
Have had good service here in the past but recently had to wait 30 minutes past my appointment time only to get told it would be another 30-40 minute wait. I'm not sure how having one person in front of me would result In an hour late appointment. When I tried calling back later to reschedule, their phone line just says call back later and no one picks up.

Yelp
I'm in town for a little while and was in serious need of a haircut. I was skeptical about coming here because of so many negative reviews, but I took a chance. I called to make an appointment, they set me up with one barber but when I got there they had changed to Bryan Z. I think this was a happy accident for me. Bryan did a great job, he listened to what I wanted, took his time, explained what/how he would cut based on my previous cut and asked me questions throughout the cut to make sure I got what I wanted. I'm a talker so it was nice that we chatted it up a fair amount throughout the entire appointment, but I shut up when I felt like he was really concentrating. His fade looks great and I'm happy that I have a barber who can also do great shear work too! He also trimmed up my beard and mustache. I live in NYC and to get a cut like this it'll easily cost you $80+! Bryan is awesome! Looks like these chains are salons that are disguised as barber shops... this Floyd's should hire more barbers, because based on the reviews there doesn't seem to be a lot of people who know how to fade or use razors that work here... I've gone to salons for years but could never find a stylist that would touch my facial hair! You need someone who knows how to fade, cut hair and trim up facial hair and that is hard to find! I would hope that Floyd's staff all knows and trains to be able to do that. I was just lucky to get Bryan today. I'll definitely be back to see Bryan Z! For the cut I give it a 5, for the salon's staff (phone person/front desk) and lack of barber selection it loses a star.

Yelp
I had a great cut, and enjoyed the overall shop. Not able to comment on the other barbers/stylists but Ben was helpful and gave a good cut. The place is cool, don't see why the Yelp score isn't higher.

Yelp
OKAY SOOOOO IF YOU WANT YOUR HAIR TO NOT ONLY LOOK AMAZING BUT BECOME EXTREMELY HEALTHY LOOK NO FURTHER.... Melissa the hair wizard is amazing ... not only is she beautiful inside and outside.. she also is extremely talented. I've never had anyone be able to achieve the white/grey hair before on my head. So many people tried and my hair was getting so damaged. Then I came to Melissa and she did it !!! All of a sudden with going to for over a year now my hair is much more healthy !!!! Recently I went darker and she did that too!!! So whatever hair color you desire, SHE CAN DO IT!!!! Love her

Yelp
So about a year ago now I came to this location. Only to receive the worst hair cut in the history of my life! This woman butchered my hair in less that 10 minutes and has the audacity to act as if she completed something worthy of a compliment or even payment. The point of getting my hair cut that day was to pick a style to let my curls grow out. Since Dillan the owner of the company does not properly train nor educate his staff this incident occurred. Even further this women went in to butcher many other peoples hair. You can see her reviews below mine. Majority of these reviews are about that terrible hairstylist. Now I'm not blaming her completely because part of being a stylist is education. Not only did she lack proper client stylist rapport but she was not educated in the field she works. The fish rots from the head down. The clear problem with this salon is its owner. They have created a hair cuttery esq type of barber shop. Where they want the cost of a nice barber but lack the skills and appropriate demeanor to offer the services they do at the price they do. After having my hair hacked up I gave crofton a chance where I found a wonderful stylist Ikea. However my morales are stronger than my desire for a hair cut. Dillan is hands down the most unprofessional business owner I have ever come across. From lying to me about gift cards offering clients things and never pulling through. I expressed to him I was unhappy with how he runs a business and I was requesting my stylist recieve 100% commission when cutting my hair. Considering she is the one with the talent I like and also the one who cared enough to try to keep me as a client. Since the greedy arrogant owner didn't even respond I chose to take my business somewhere else. We are living in a time where everything is exspensive and inflation is no joke. If you want to profit off the public then you need to provide a reputable service of quality. Your business is very similar to haircuttery and to be honest we don't need it in the community. We should call a mass boycott of this hair factory until they can learn to treat their customers correct! Stylist can be held legally accountable for what they do maybe it's time we file a law suit

Rogia H.

Yelp
They don't know how to do black hair but they will never tell, they are learning on customers hair They will do things you didn't ask for for your kids and charge you. I will never take my kids there again I would rather take them to the school at least I don't need to pay for some one to learn on my kids heads

Yelp
REQUEST MICHAEL. I had a wonderful experience at Floyd's 99. Michael gave me exactly what I asked for. I am so happy to have found this local spot. He was very pleasant and showed master barber skills. Amazing fade. I will be a regular now.
google avatar

Yelp
When you have the name Barbershop in your name I assume you can fade and do it well. FALSE! I'm used to barbershops where the employees can do skin fades like champs and don't ever have issues. A barbershop uses straight razors, not head trimmers for hard parts. Needless to say I won't be back! I enjoyed the shampoo and neck massage, hence the one star.
google avatar

Derek L.

Yelp
I've stopped coming to this location because of the basic inability to give you what you ask for. A medium fade is a medium fade. Not high and tight. This was the 2nd chance and I probably won't be coming back.

Yelp
I went in last week for a haircut and partial highlight. I was supposed to see Karla but went to Jessica instead because Karla was With a client. Jessica made me feel right at home. She was professional yet very personable. She asked lots Of questions about me and just made Me feel like someone she had known forever. I asked her for her Opinion on what color I should do for my highlights and the color she suggested looked great. She also did a trim and put some layers in my hair... I hVe curly hair so it's Not always easy for people to cut, she nailed it. I have recently sent my daughter to her as well. We will definitely be going back to her next time!!! Music was A tad Loud but I enjoyed it. Lol

Yelp
Avoid at all costs. I grew my hair out for a while and I was finally ready to get it cut. After trying to get my hair cut tonight I remembered why I grew my hair out in the first place (this is where I used to get my hair cut when I got it cut more regularly). It doesn't matter if you make an appointment this establishment will keep you waiting for 20+ minutes. I walked in for my appointment(on time) and was told to have a seat my hairstylist would just be a minute. The receptionist was mostly not around but finally gave me an update around 15 minutes of waiting and said the stylist will be right with me. When I booked my appointment I selected "anyone" there were only 3 stylist working and they were all cutting hair when I walked in but before I left one of them was open and appeared to be tidying up. If the receptionist was anywhere around perhaps I could have let her know that anyone would be fine to cut my hair. After a total of 25 minutes of waiting for my scheduled appointment I walked out and I will never return to this establishment again.

Yelp
I asked for long layers, what I got was uneven short layers. The girls are talkers to try to distract you from what they're doing. Then when they're done and show you your back, it was horrific and I was very upset but they they don't do anything for you except make you pay. Yup! They still make you pay. They did the same thing to my mom...We would not be back

Yelp
I stopped in here months ago because of the hype and marketing and I needed a haircut and beard trim. What a waste. I liked the Yelp reviews and thought I was going to be pampered a little and given a decent cut. Bah. Humbug. Lots of 20 somethings with tats all over their body and rock music blasting from the sound system. They may have been trained to be barbers but I don't know where. I guess I'm just not cool and hip enough but this place just wasn't for me. First, back in the day, stylists used to wash, cut and blow dry. This place cuts and then washes. Huh? Second, they do this shoulder massage thing with a vibrator that could loosen concrete for a street repair. They didn't even ask if there might be a reason I didn't want this shoulder/neck vibration treatment (of about 1 minute) The whole experience from beginning to end may have been 20 minutes and that was with an appointment. Pardon me but no thanks. I guess it's great if you like looking at young babes with their tats and tank tops. The worst was that the "barber" in the chair next to mind couldn't quit yappin' about her sucky life to her customer. I wanted to tell her to shut the hell up but I was in and out pretty quick so it didn't matter.

Yelp
This review is for my visit on 5/27/2012. Location: The location is right of Rt.3 which is perfect for anyone looking for a place that can accommodate walk-ins. Décor: If you have been to one Floyds, you have been to all. There is little difference between shops other than location. Staff: What makes a chain unique is its staff. On my visit, the staff appeared to be working, but scattered around the shop, leaving vacant spots between stalls, almost an isolation feel. Service: After sitting in the waiting area for five minutes, I was greeted by a stylist, asked about my style preferences and was able to satisfy my request. Negatives: Upon my initial introduction, the stylist reached out to shake my hand, but looked away as I reached in response. This is totally unacceptable. This non verbal act can be misinterpreted as offensive. After getting acquainted with my stylist, we engaged in stimulating conversation, cancelling my less than satisfactory impression. After my cut, I went to the front to pay my bill where the front desk incorrectly charged me for a hairstyle I did not have performed. Summary: If you are looking for a bland atmosphere with personalities who are not looking for regulars, then consider Floyds Barbershop (Gambrils/Crofton). I did mention to the stylist that I do not have a set place for where I receive my haircuts. This was partially true and was her cue to show me why I should make Floyds - Gambrils my go to place for haircuts and shaves.

Yelp
I don't usually write reviews after only one visit, but it was a pretty good visit and I want to remember that it was Bree that did my "do". Bye, bye, chin length hair, hello summer short pixie, I've missed you for the past several years while I did the long hair thing for a while. While it was busy, and the middle of a Saturday afternoon, there was only about a 20 minute wait. Yes, they do women's cuts too. This is sorta of trendy, funky cool barber salon. Bright decor, music playing, the barber tools are in toolboxes, and mostly women doing the cutting. If you are looking for an old fashioned barber shop with a couple of chairs and talk of sports, cars, and all that, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a fast, budget friendly cut, with a shampoo and a blow dry if you want, this might be the place.

Yelp
The boy went to Floyd's right after it opened and Ashley N cut his hair. He has a difficult mop and she did a GREAT job! He thought I would also like her and recommended I go see her, as we had just moved and I needed a new stylist. A few days later I decided to stop in. I called to get an appointment and was told I could call ahead and schedule for 30 mins out...kinda like "call ahead seating" at a restaurant...how cool is that! It was just as good as the boy described. The decor is cool, everyone was friendly, Ashley did a really good job with my hair, ANNNNND...you get a little back/shoulder massage at the end!! The only downside was that it got really warm in the afternoon sun since the entire place is glass, and the massage didn't last long enough (ie. 30mins!). We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
If you want to be treated like a Rock Star, then this is the place for you. I have always been a big fan of Old School barbershops and the higher end 'spa' like places for men. I just wanted to try something different and am so glad I did. Floyd's is the perfect mix of professional barbershop, spa and rock club! Shoutout to Krista S. who did an amazing job on my haircut and totally rocked the best straight razor shave I have EVER had. She was so meticulous with that razor. Still quite impressed with the entire experience. Massage, hot towels, perfect shave...it doesn't get any better. Floy's has won me over. Cannot wait to return for another fabulously relaxing experience.
google avatar

Derron B.

Yelp
So I've got to agree with Dennis. I'm just leaving there specifically because of his review. Krista did an absolutely awesome job! I'm new to the area and I've been struggling to find someone who actually does a good job cutting my hair. I've definitely found my barbershop! I'll be back! I totally recommend getting the steam towel! It's incredibly refreshing!

Yelp
Got a great sexy blow out which lasted days. Shampoo and massage was fantastic. Management and staff were friendly and provided excellent customer service.

Blake M.

Yelp
I honestly don't know why I came back to this place. It's been quite a while (pre-COVID) since I've been here and regardless of the person that I get, it's always the same outcome. Over priced haircuts & unskilled barbers. My barber today didn't blend my fade at all and I had to remind her after she was prepared to let me leave the shop, asking if "everything looked okay". She didn't seem confident at all from start to finish and I knew it wasn't going to end well for me - unfortunately I was right. If you have a 'comb over' still haircut & want a medium skin fade, this place isn't for you. You're better off going to a more local barber shop where the actual professionals are. I was desperate for a haircut because my usual babes only works THU-SAT, and I need a haircut today, MON... I regret not waiting & wasting the money. I'll be going back to my usual spot to get it fixed.
google avatar

Samantha L.

Yelp
I have so much love for this place. I have an "unusual" hair style and usually unnaturally coloured hair. Since moving to Crofton, all I've seen were chain places that I had no interest in trying. I had a friend from California tell me about Floyd's 99 so I figured, why not? The most recent visit was on a Saturday afternoon. I didn't have an appointment, nor did I call ahead -which you should!- and I only had to wait a few minutes to see the person I wanted, Brian. He is fantastic. I'm reluctant to share this with anyone because I don't want him to be too busy to see me, but, honestly, best haircuts I've had in years. He's amazing at what he does. He's honest when I say I'm thinking about a hairstyle and it might be unflattering. He knows what works and what doesn't. If you're having doubts, give this guy a shot. Everyone who has touched my hair there has been wonderful, but Brian is one in a million.
google avatar

Aaron H.

Yelp
I have had haircuts here by 5 different people now as I am not entirely loyal enough to call ahead and make sure someone I have seen before is there. I think that will change after today. Laura gave me a great haircut. She also told me that what I am looking for when I get my haircut I want a low fade. As I was paying she put a note in their computer system that I prefer a low fade so if someone else cuts my hair in the future they will know what I am looking for. That is great customer service if you ask me. The ambience and feel is certainly not that of a classic barbershop but they have friendly professionals and a good vibe. This is my go to spot to get a haircut and is well worth the $26 including tip.
google avatar

Linds F.

Yelp
Mellerz is my stylist and I can't Imagine trusting anyone else with my hair. I met her by chance after finding her portfolio online. I was astounded by the type of work I saw and knew she could do what I was looking for. Colors, cuts, corrections and styles, the likes of which I had never seen! She is an incredible artist that puts the utmost care into her clients hair. I have never been seen more promptly, treated with such hospitality and she always puts my mind at ease when I'm nervous about a choice I'm making for my hair. People say "It's hair, it grows back!" Luckily, that's never something I have to worry about because she is a hair magician. You won't regret sitting in her chair.
google avatar

Victor B.

Yelp
Despite reading numerous negative reviews from men with beards desiring fades, I decided to roll the dice. I entered the arena as a walk in at 11am on a Saturday so the fact that I waited for a half hour to get into a chair wasn't very surprising. The first thing you notice upon entering is that the girl at the front counter is a former librarian and can't talk at normal acceptable volume. As I sit in the waiting area and watch people leave with mediocre fades I begin to wonder if I should plan an escape. Suddenly a nice lady approaches me and welcomes me to her lair. It takes me about ten minutes to realize that her idea of a fade is a skin length rectangle above my ears. Now I'm starting to get concerned and at the same time trying to carry on a meaningless conversation about about my weekend. This poor lady was afraid to use a buzzer on me and I could tell from past experiences by the way she attacked my dome. After numerous apologies, what she deemed "miscommunication", and a bogus "massage" using a Sharper Image wand I left. To her credit she made a valiant effort to salvage what little men's fade experience she had and I left looking a 4 out of 10. No blowdry, no ear cleanup, no eyebrow cleanup and just a lot of hair on my bathroom floor. $17 later and I'm debating going down the street to see Du at crofton barber shop. Needless to say, I won't be going back to Floyd's anytime in the near future.
google avatar

Brian S.

Yelp
I still have my ears, so two stars. Not my usual place for a cut, but options are limited at 5pm on a Sunday. Beard trim was just girl scraping a #3 across my face. Stabbing me in the nose a couple of times. Didn't even straighten the lines or crop the mustache over the lips. No eyebrows. No ears. Hair cut was fast and a bit half-assed.
google avatar

Rose G.

Yelp
Do you sit in the mirror, stare at yourself, and wonder how to unveil that inner sexy tiger? Are you in search of the answer to life's biggest question? Do you look like a party pooper? Well look no further my friends. Floyds 99 on Rt 3 is the place to be! I've been using Floyds for the past 5+ years following the same 2 people for a damn good reason .... They rock my hair world. Anytime I need a same day appt, they get me in and never make me feel like a bother. I am always greeted with smiles and positivity when I walk in and sit in the chair at my appt time. Jody is the best stylist around and listens to all my needs. She gives the right suggestions and never steers me wrong. I feel valued and cared for. Gracie at the front desk is efficient and sweet. She recognizes my voice and knows me by name ... Who else gets that from their salon/barbershop?! The place is always clean and I trust them completely. I don't know how else to say it, do yourself a favor and go here now... Like right now ... I'm serious, they accept same day appts/walk-ins. If you've already been here ... Damn your hair looks good!
google avatar

Colby M.

Yelp
I love the atmosphere. Good music, never too long of a wait, friendly staff. I only get haircuts, never do any coloring but people do seem to get color every so often. They shave your neck and give a massage with every cut. Solid place, great location.
google avatar

Eugene S.

Yelp
Standard haircut. The reviews for this place are all on the extremes but in reality it's a very average barber shop. I got a good haircut (fade with trim on top). $24 is more than I want to pay. The shave and massage at the end are gimmicks. They're included in the price, I'd rather save on the cut than have those add-ons.
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
My husband and I both come to Floyd's. Theres a large staff of female hairdressers who know their stuff, so I don't feel too weird about coming to a place labeled a barber shop. The atmosphere is fun, everyone is super inviting, accommodating and the prices are very reasonable. I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Sean C.

Yelp
BRUTAL! Went here for a men's haircut on 3 separate occasions. No one knows how to fade hair. You're either left with lines on the side of your head or the one continuous length tapered all the way up. I wish Floyd's put the same amount of effort into hiring good barbers as they did designing the interior of their building.
google avatar

Tyler M.

Yelp
Lance no longer works here and I haven't noticed Jen around recently either. However, Krista is my new go-to barber at this location. She's a professional in every sense of the word, especially when it comes to her precision as a barber. She's never given me a bad haircut, she listens and always executes whatever I ask. I haven't had my haircut by anyone else at this location in a long time and I know they've had some staff turnover, so I can't speak to the rest of the staff.

Tricia A.

Yelp
Had a great experience with Carlee today. She has the Best personality. I received a great cut and color.

Paddy O.

Yelp
I downloaded the Yelp app just so I could leave this review. I walked into the Floyd's in Gambrills this evening and tried to get a haircut but they would not give me one without a valid phone number. I gave them my phone number, that I have had for 10 years, but it was under somebody else's name. So theyasked me for another phone number. I said to just put me down as a walk in. They said phone numbers are how we track the walk-ins. So I said I don't have another number I could just leave. And the girl at the reception desk said okay. She did this while the person who would cut my hair stood behind her. That person lost her tip and the house lost their thirty bucks. if I was the owner of this location I would dock the pay of the redhead who just lost the sale.

Yelp
Wasn't sure at first from all the good and ehh reviews, but gave it a try and turned out it was all I needed. Got a good haircut, discount for first timer and they are beard enthusiasts! Went on a weekday, so wasn't that crowded and the price is normal for a haircut.

Yelp
So I have been going to this barbershop for several years and used to get great service and a good haircut. Last several times I've been there, I have seen a different stylist, the only thing that they said to me was their name. No conversation, to the point it was awkward. I would attempt to engage them in conversation and got nothing in return. The most recent time I went in they tried to charge me $30 for a mid length cut. It has not been more than three months since I got my last hair cut, she was done in less then 20minutes. I paid $24, refused to leave a tip and will never go back. Total rip off!!!

Yelp
I stopped in on wed. 5/13/15 and Krista cut my hair. (she is the only reason I would ever go back) anyway I paid with a debit Card and was charged 21 dollars and then gave Krista a Five dollar cash tip. Then the following day I check my account and Floyds 99 in Crofton, MD. had charged my card 44 dollars and had the nerve to tell me that " I" was the one who gave a 23 dollar tip. Watch this company. They are ripoffs if you don't check you accounts when using credit or debit cards they will scam you. I called and they gave me some lame excuse and said they would credit my account. well guess what I haven't received my credit as of yet a week later.

Yelp
I stopped going to this hipster place because the are never staffed with a barber 5thumbs down. Wish I could give zero stars after being rudely treated yesterday. Do yourself a favor go to sports clips in gambrills.

Yelp
I love getting my haircut here they usually do a bang up job. Once you find the right barber/stylist. But that's the hard part the turn over rate is so high in this place new stylists cycle in every other month it seems. Also it seems strange that you have to search for a barber to use a straight razor in a place that has barbershop in its name. Alls this is simply avoidable as long as you do some research and call ahead. My biggest and only real complaint is the music. While the selection is good and enjoyable it's way way way way way way to loud. I can hardly hear myself think let alone talk to my barber about my haircut and things that I would like. This is the biggest reason for my loss of stars.

Yelp
They literally injured me. After my shampoo, stylist got distracted talking to someone at counter. With no warning, she made my chair go from laying back with my head at the sink to sitting straight up in less than a second. I blacked out . Next day with pain in my neck and shoulders, I called the manager and told her what happened. Her response was "You sat in that char many times and never complained before. They always put the chair up like that." She totally lied. They are incompetent and dishonest.

Yelp
This place butchered my son's hair to the point where it's not worth it to go back for them to fix it. Who knows what they would do to his hair. We are now looking for a competent person to fix the disaster.

Yelp
Brittany delivered exactly what I asked, remove the dark. Next visit, she no longer works there and Jessica is tasked with managing my roots. Pure incompetence and clueless about professionalism as a colorist. I didn't want to be dark again, nor blonde. I realize that it's not a natural color after stripping the dark, but I expected a professional to properly advise me, which disappointingly was NOT advising me to go back to a darker brown. It did not instill confidence when she repeatedly consulted with other stylists, complained that my color choice wasn't available so she phoned a friend to make up a blended color, had to be told repeatedly that I did not want to be highlighted heavily with blonde, then after consulting with another stylist following the 25 minute toner application declared that the color was not what she expected so she wanted to add red. Oh hell no!!! I paid because I am a civilized person (shame on me), but after drying at home, I discovered that she achieved the blonde highlights she had originally intended, right on top of the red on the lower layers, blended nicely with my brown roots and still visible grays. I was worse off than when in walked in! I don't know what her cutting skills are like but totally avoid her as a colorist.

Yelp
My husband just walked out with the left side of his hair significantly shorter than the right. It is 8pm...not sure where we could go to get this fixed. I am hoping it looks more even after he washes and styles it tonight. She was apologizing through the haircut. Told my husband "It will grow out in a week." Then proceeded to tell him she was looking into a different line of work. What the heck? He has to go to work tomorrow. I don't know who is doing the hiring at Floyd's, but no one in my family will ever set foot in there again. :(

Yelp
1st....Google shows this Floyd's 99 as being miles away from where it's located (it's in Crofton not Gambrills) next to Five Guys and Dickey's BBQ. I visited this barber shop around 3 pm on a Tuesday (1/24/2012). Lady at the front counter was very pleasant and promptly took my name down and what I wanted done (just a haircut). I had to wait a few minutes for my female barber to finish jaw-jacking with some lady that was sitting in the corner of the store. Standing around and waiting for my barber to finish shooting the sh$% with a non-customer wasn't cool. You don't get a second chance to make a first impression on a customer. They offer a free shampoo if you're a first time customer but I declined the offer. I'm in the military so my cuts are pretty simple....skin on the sides and a low guard on top. Nothing fancy. My barber (fellow barber called her "Ghetto Barbie") struck up some minor small talk and the haircut was alright. I was looking forward to their "signature shoulder massage" but that only consisted of 30 seconds with a machine that felt like a belt sander. The hot neck shave was o.k. but nothing all that great. Biggest complaint was that I left with tons of hair all over my face....I should've asked for the shampoo after the haircut! I'm surprised that there wasn't a blow dryer used to at least clean up some of the hair. Final price was $16.00 (after military discount) and the front desk clerk gave me a coupon for $5.00 off the next visit. Overall impression was just o.k. and not worth a return visit (even with a discount). Front desk clerk was the best thing about my experience at Floyd's. You have to send your clients out the door feeling like a million bucks after a fresh haircut. Not covered in cut hair looking like Chewbacca.

Yelp
It's our second time here and ended up with a new hairstylist.. needless to say, the haircut was horrible!!! And we had to go back to get it redone! Not sure why most hairstylist there are horrible, only a handful are fine... but, it's a luck of the draw (unfortunately)...

Yelp
Whether I ask for a fade, tapered sides, or just a trim, Mellerz always delivered. She gets the job done! Sometimes when there's a few minutes of free time before clients, she'd freshen up my pixie with a quick style for the weekend. She's awesome!
