"Fluke is on the more refined and pricey end of the dining experiences to be had in Newport, but worth it for a special occasion. Aside from the many fresh seafood options (try the fluke, obviously) there are plenty of inventive vegetable dishes like the fava bean farrotto and pea shoot salad, all made with local ingredients. Owners and best friends Geremie and Jeff have built a stellar booze list of artisan wines and cold-pressed juice cocktails that you won't find anywhere else in town. "

From the start a WARM GREETING from owners Jeff & Geremie Cocktails Creative, Appitizers Fried Oysters and Cold Corn Soup set the mood with their Crispy Texture and Sauce providing nice heat, the Corn Soup offered a Sweet & Creamie balance with a Remarkable Finish with a Smear of Basil Oil. Entrees came and the Celebration became Center Stage starting with Perfectly Grilled Black Sea Bass & Lemon Curd, Arugula Pesto Risotto Wild Caught Shrimp. Mussels & Scallops, then my dish the Seared Sea Scallops with Pillowy Hand Cut Gnocchi with their Melt in your Mouth Texture was Heavenly. A Perfect Meal for a Perfect Evening. Our first day in Newport for our short 3 Day Excursion the Bar was set high for our next few days of Dinning. 🍸🍷🍽

Google
Amazing staff! The wine list is extensive but they'll give you great recommendations and then let you try before you buy. Even just the different types of appetizer bread were scrumptious and the food was equally as lovely. Great atmosphere, and easy location on the wharf

Excellent seafood! Great spot for a special date night. The scallop stuffie, seafood trio and tautog were all incredible - can’t wait to come back!

In addition to being one of Newport's great fine dining restaurants, Fluke happens to be the place to get an amazing cocktail.

Yelp
Absolutely loved it here. First off, it has such a fun tiki vibe and really nice views over the wharf. Service was good and the menu had a lot of tasty options. We shared several dishes including poke tuna tacos, blackened mahi mahi tacos, crab and corn rangoons, Thai salad, calamari, and grilled giant tiger prawns. Everything was wonderful! Really and truly we didn't have a single complaint across the board. We also sampled a couple fun cocktails and they were excellent and served in the most fun cups/glasses/bowls. I wish I lived closer so I could eat here more regularly but I will definitely plan to return during weekend visits to Newport.

Yelp
The ambiance and service were good but they can't make up for horrific food. Ordered: Oysters Rockefeller. The oysters were chopped pieces vs whole. Both my wife and I had one. Looking at the menu now, doesn't say chopped oysters anywhere in the description. And the taste was bad. This is easily the worst Oysters Rockefeller I've ever had. Coconut Shrimp. Very over cooked and over battered. Again, worst Coconut shrimp I've ever had. Hawaiian sliders with Fries. Terrible sliders and the fries were cold and overcooked. Obviously, wouldn't go back again.

Yelp
A rum based tiki bar with fantastic food! Caribbean themed music in the background of a 6 seated bar. Wednesdays $1 dumplings all night in the winter ...they had buffalo cauliflower, mahi/shrimp, and Thai duck. All were very good! Dumpling flavors change weekly and are only served on Wednesday. $1 oysters 4:00-5:30 Wednesdays - Friday Garnished with a side of cocktail sauce and lemon. Service was excellent, food came out quick and the drinks are very creative, flavorful, and come in some cool cups.

Yelp
Such an underrated tiki spot! For appetizers we started off with the nachos and the calamari. All of them were eaten super quickly by us as they were delicious. Next up was a variety of tiki drinks off their menu we ordered. Heavy pours so you get your money's worth, and also equally delicious! The drinks were poured in these hilarious and adorable cups (one cup shaped like a unicorn floatie, the other like a pig, another in a snake shaped cup). Spot was super cute and we will for sure return!

Yelp
Great fish dinners with an Asian flair.Mahi Mahi skewers with red onions peppers and tomatoes on citrus rice was perfect. Swordfish tacos with fries were cooked lightly breaded and so good.

Yelp
A new place for me and my wife. We used to go here when it was Flukes. They created a cool space (tiki bar) on the 2nd floor. It was very nicely decorated, and they served drinks in really nice tiki glasses. Our bartender was very pleasant. Her drinks were outstanding. I had the Death on the afternoon and Sailors Beware. I would recommend these if you like strong drinks. My wife had the Isle of Forgotten Sins and Cobra Woman. The food was very good. We started with three types of dumplings stuffed with spiced beef, salmon, and veggies. They were great! My wife followed with the Mahi-Mahi sandwich, and I had the Mahi-Mahi skewers. The fish was cooked well and flavorful. The french fries were crispy and were a good accompaniment. We had a great time! You should try this place when in Newport.

Yelp
Great spot with a nice view. The service was awesome. Our server was friendly and had good recommendations. We opted for a few apps and were not disappointed. The calamari dish was so full of flavor. We loved the Brussel sprouts. The prawns were delicious with a large serving of spicy rice. The nachos were gone first. Cheesy and delicious. We would definitely return.

Yelp
Affordable food in Newport! Mahi mahi was really good. We also ordered the Brussel sprouts which were good Really friendly service. Steep stairs to get up.

Yelp
Stopped in for after dinner drinks and the bartender made it a super fun experience with his charm, masterful mixology and fun tiki glasses (drinking Prosecco and mixes out of pigs and cobras)

Yelp
A fun change of pace ! Like an hour- long Hawaiian vacation... We sat at the bar and our bartender Christian was great! Recommended the best cocktails, I loved the "Death in the Afternoon" cocktail without the floater. It wasn't too sweet, great lime-y citrus flavor. Enjoyed the pu pu platter especially the crab rangoons and those little ribs with the teriyaki sauce

Yelp
Strange little fusion place we decided to dine at while in Rhode Island. Hawaiian. Check. Asian check. American check. Dark and fast food? Check. Some of the items a little too sweet for my taste, but that's what tiki is all about?
google avatar

Rick N.

Yelp
Menu is very limited. Coconut shrimp was overcooked and had very little coconut . The liquor at the bar does not have much of a selection. Overall very disappointed.

Yelp
The Pu Pu Platter was literally one of the best things I've ever eaten, seriously. Like lowkey life changing. The Won Nachos were pretty good, even better with the cooked pineapple on the side. Will most definitely be back when we come back to Newport. Good vibes, cool venue, & just excellent food.

Yelp
Excellent Monk fish special ! Waitress was awesome and very attentive, drink, food, and desert. I would definitely recommend this restaurant bar.

Yelp
Came on the 5th of July to Newport and nearly every single restaurant/bar on Bowen's Wharf was either at capacity, full or not pet friendly. We saw this place and arrived at the perfect time- because by the time we started eating this restaurant was also pretty fully booked. First Thoughts: tables were somewhat close together, it was loud AF inside, and it's small but it does have 3 floors, however not really an outdoor sitting area! But what they lack in space they make up for in taste! We were soooo pleasantly surprised at the food and drinks! We got shrimp cocktail- which was fresh and delicious! We also ordered crab Rangoon- which everyone devoured! They had a great drink menu- I was really surprised by the presentation of the amazing drinks- which were as delicious as they look! The entrees were also really good! I was pleasantly surprised to learn this was a new restaurant and The only "TIKI" type bar in Newport! Our waiter was a quintessential "Newport" Waiter- who was friendly, cool, easy to look at & definitely fit right in with the general laid back vibe! He was attentive and funny and we all really enjoyed him serving us! So I would definitely return here- but watch out for the dinner rush- if you can get in here right before- then I would definitely recommend that- cuz as soon as we were seated the entire place filled up! 5/5 stars- we will definitely be back!

Yelp
Food is delicious, the service is outstanding! We ordered smashed cucumber salad and sweet and sour shrimp &chicken . Plenty food for 2 people.

Yelp
Food was yummy. Drinks were strong. Ambiance was relaxing. Staff was friendly. They even offer their whole menu gluten free, which I may be ordering from the next time I go to Newport. Will definitely come here again!

Yelp
Working with Wharf Fishhouse for our June 2024 Wedding Welcome party was a great experience! The space is really easy but still cozy-feeling to host events in, and they were extremely easy to to work with and accommodating about the menu we wanted/the drink set up so all our guests could enjoy themselves! We wanted the focus to be on the tiki drinks, since we are huge tiki fans, and they delivered with signature drinks and signature mocktail for us, and all our guests loved it! We also had apps, a fried rice station and a dessert station; everyone loved the food! Communication/planning before the event was very smooth; the management team were really thoughtful in planning, asking for little details to keep in mind to help manage the event for us and even playing a tiki themed playlist we'd made/passing out leis to guests per our request. The restaurant was working on adding a deck when we were in planning, and they were flexible on the cost given this; ultimately they were able to give us a better deal cost-wise because the deck was not ready by the time of our event. Knowing that was a moving target leading up to to the welcome party I really appreciated how they made a point to over-communicate with us about the status of the deck, and were flexible on final pricing accordingly! Our guests loved the tiki drinks and the atmosphere; it was a well-managed, delicious, creative and fun way to kick off our wedding weekend! We will be back for sure to relive the memories!!!

Yelp
We came for a private event. The service was excellent, the food was really tasty, and the vibe was great. I loved the layout of the place and it was a great place for a party. The brussel sprouts and the sliders were fantastic.

Yelp
Don't order the mai tai. It's offensive. Just kidding. The drink were awesome. Great creative recipes. The mahi mahi tacos were great. The coconut shrimp is awesome and with a good kick! Celia the bartender is amazing. Handled the busy upstairs bar like a champ. Plus she hooked up a great group of nurses with some awesome service and a nightcap! Get here.

Yelp
I wanted to enjoy this place so bad, but it was pretty bad. The decor was charming and the service was great, but the food...... awful flavor combinations, most dishes lacking seasoning or salt, and the textures were weird.

Yelp
This was the most pleasantly unexpected meal of our trip to Newport this year. First, the service was outstanding. On a Sunday night with a waitress and host only, the place ran seamlessly with a full room. The food was something truly unique. The Island Fried Rice was phenomenal, as were the ribs. Even something as simple as the mango salad had a wonderful spin. We truly cleared every plate. (P.s. they have a specific Gluten Free menu if you need it - just ask!) And finally the beverage program was excellent. My wife enjoyed her two house cocktails thoroughly, and the non-alcoholic options were two of the best zero-proof cocktails I've had in the past year. All super tasty and well balanced. Highly recommend this joint all around!! Look forward to returning next trip back! P.s. while the view isn't directly on the water, the view from the dining room of the wharf is a nice experience. However, if the top floor is open, the best views would 100% be from atop.

Yelp
Service and staff are great! However, the food was not what I was expecting for the price that it was at. Small plates, high prices, for food that tastes like it came out of a freezer. The banana fritters were good and the tiki cups are cute. If you're going there solely for the ambiance or drinks then it will be worth it.

Yelp
This is a great place for tasty food and rum cocktails! It's like a New England clam shack in the Caribbean. I had a painkiller cocktail and the fish and chip bites, the fried whole belly clams were so fresh and crispy. The sweet and sour Brussels so so good. Great service and lively tropical decor!

Kate M.

Yelp
Staff was working hard to accommodate our party of 7. They have a good menu and drink selections. It's not all seafood they have other meat options as well as vegetarian options. Would definitely return, but maybe not on a weekend.

Yelp
Ewww... the food was awful. I don't understand why it got such great reviews for it. Got the yellow tuna tartare and it tasted so bland that I almost couldn't finish the small amount. The grilled tuna dinner wasn't good from what I was told from one of my guests. Ordered a bunch of apps and dinners and overall was meh. Will try again since it's new and maybe they were off with us. At least the drinks were good, hence the extra star.

Yelp
We came down for the weekend from Massachusetts, looking for a nice spot to have a nice drink in the winter season in Newport. Did not expect TIKI!! My wife and I have always been a fan of Diego's, had no idea they could translate to tiki so well. The atmosphere inside is incredible! Island style art, lights, top shelf rums. The food was straight of Polynesia as well. Island fried rice with pork belly was exquisite. The crab and corn rangoons and mahi mahi tacos are also incredible. But the drinks and service are what really sell this place. We sat at the bar and our bartender Dan was awesome!! He helped us navigate the complicated tiki drink menu, and ended up making us a fruity rum drink in a pig glass, AND one in a shark glass. Dan was great, explaining the drinks and even giving us other places to go in Newport. He also told us about an upcoming deck expansion to the fish house! Would definitely recommend going in while it's still a hidden gem!

Yelp
While the manager did remove my meal and beverage from the bill, it was truly one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a while. We were seated pretty quickly but sat there for nearly twenty minutes before our drink orders were taken. We then waited for nearly another fifteen minutes for a round of sodas, one wine and one mixed drink. The menu items are not clearly described. I requested no egg for my meal and yes- the fried egg was left off- but there was egg mixed into the meal. The children's sliders came out with lettuce, sauce and bacon- none of these mentioned on the menu. Would not recommend unless you have all afternoon for a meal.

Yelp
This place does not treat their customers well, especially if someone comes in and has a headache due to not having eaten all day. They falsely and fraudulently accuse people of being intoxicated and try to throw them out. I would not go here again. The manager of this place engaged in poor customer service, absolute incompetence, and possibly negligent behavior and should be sent to be trained properly.

David R.

Yelp
We were excited to try this new restaurant created by the group that runs Diego's and the Wharf Southern Kitchen. We started with with the Crab Rangoons, the Oysters Rockefeller, and the Whole Belly Clams. Portions are tapas size and great for sharing. There were four of us so after enjoying our first round of food we ordered the Sriracha Chicken Skewers, the Mahi Mahi Sliders, and the Fried Chicken Sliders. We then finished up withe delicious Banana Fritters. I must say everything was delicious. Service was great and the manager was extremely welcoming. Their drink menu is alsu great and all drinks are served in unique and funky glasses and Tiki cups. Definitely a resturant worth visiting and even more fun with another couple or two so you can share all the items you will want to try.

Yelp
Fish and chip bites were delicious and tiki drinks to match! Fast service, attentive waiters and bartenders

Yelp
amazing boba and cute pig cups. Bartenders had food allergies as well awesome, great time might come in my bathing suit next time. 'ohana
