"The chefs pop out to say hello. This vibe carries across to the neighboring lanes, where an ever-growing list of cafés includes Flurys, which sits inside a turn-of-the-century home with curved balconies, bright pink khorkhoris, and a Parisian-style terrace to become one of the most photographed corners in the neighborhood."

"This iconic Park Street tearoom and bakery was established in 1927 by Swiss expats Joseph and Freida Flury and their compatriot Quinto Cinzio Trinca. It has become one of Kolkata’s most iconic eateries and continues to do brisk business with heritage platters of baked beans on toast and English breakfast. Flurys has expanded its menu over the years, but the original items, marked on the menu, are still the best. Come Christmas, the place is swamped with patrons who queue up for the bakery’s rich, spiced plum cakes. Other must-trys are the inimitable chicken patties (flaky domes of puff pastry packed with minced meat stuffing) and strawberry cubes (crumby sponge layered with buttercream beneath a sugary crust of pink strawberry icing)." - Priyadarshini Chatterjee

Review: I recently visited this place with my family, including two members who had fond childhood memories from around 50 years ago. Naturally, we were excited, and upon entering, the place did not disappoint with its stunning ambiance. The Christmas decorations added a festive charm, and their pastry collection was quite impressive. However, our dining experience fell short of expectations. The food was average overall, though the pork ribs stood out with tender meat and succulent flavors. The soup and salad were just passable. The cake had a great taste but was disappointingly dry in texture. The caramel custard, despite good plating, felt like an amateur attempt. The choco lava cake was overly sweet for my liking, and the mushroom soup lacked mushrooms and depth of flavor. On a positive note, the cream coffee was delicious and enjoyable. Service-wise, there’s room for improvement. The waiters didn’t clear previous plates before serving the next dish. I had to fetch judge of water and fill our glasses. These small things so affect the dining experience. Overall, we cherished the visit for its history and heritage, and the well-maintained interiors added to the experience. While I can’t say this place serves the best food and pastries, it definitely ranks in the top 30%. With some attention to customer feedback and a few impactful changes, they could easily climb higher.

Please keep up the excellent work on your cuisine and service! However, I did want to bring to your attention an area for improvement: the restroom cleanliness. With a bit of attention to this detail, your establishment will truly shine from start to finish.

Flurys at Christmas is a spectacle to behold - it transports you to a different world altogether. The decorations were breathtaking - it was like a fairytale in pink, replete with Santa, a Nutcracker, a Snowman and giant ribbons. The food is overpriced, true, but totally worth it during Christmas. We enjoyed the American breakfast platter - with fried chicken eggs, hash browns, pancakes, fruit juice, a muffin and coffee. It was a charming experience heightened by that time of the year and the overall ambience.

Overhyped and Overpriced Flurys is all about the name, but honestly, it doesn’t live up to the hype. The prices are ridiculously high for what you get, and the quality isn’t anything special. The pastries and breakfast items are average at best, and the service feels indifferent. There are plenty of better cafés in the city that offer much better value for money. If you’re looking for a place that just looks fancy but doesn’t deliver on taste or experience, this is it. Definitely not worth the money.

This establishment is iconic not only historically but very current. Whether you are craving a continental breakfast or just fluffy pancakes and Darjeeling tea, this is the place in Kolkata for you. Even after so long, it is accessible, not hidden and shrouded to upper class elites alone. It may be expensive, because well ... inflation. From a service standpoint, yes, if you end up not connecting with the wait staff, bad luck for you in terms of service, but if you know what you want and need, it's not that they will go out of their way to be rude to you. So overall the experience was a very satisfying one. Not just this time around, but every time I have visited here.

Flurys is a delightful place to enjoy baked goodies like cakes, cupcakes, pies, and more. With a spacious seating area accommodating both individuals and groups, it offers a wide selection of treats paired with refreshing non-alcoholic beverages. The interiors are grand and thoughtfully designed, adding to its charm. Visiting in December was an added treat, as the Christmas vibes were palpable even from outside. The pink-themed decorations, complete with a giant bow at the entrance, along with gnomes, snowflakes, and balloons inside, created a magical festive atmosphere. The food quality is impressive, and despite the rush, the staff manages the crowd efficiently, ensuring a pleasant experience. Overall, Flurys is a must-visit spot in Kolkata, especially during the festive season, for its ambiance and delectable offerings.

Flurys is an absolute gem and a timeless treasure in the heart of Kolkata! From the moment you step in, you’re greeted with an old-world charm that beautifully blends nostalgia and elegance. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it perfect for anything from a casual coffee break to a special celebration. The food is simply exquisite! Their signature breakfast platter is a must-try, and the quality of the pastries, especially the rum balls and chocolate truffle, is unparalleled.
