The fish is well cooked and fresh. I had the sea bass perfectly done and my friend fish and chip (simple and fried at perfection) . Appetizer we choose mussels ❤️gnummy. The place is small and loud so don’t aspect to talk about the solar system in here 🤣. Enjoy the food and have fun. There are also tv to see games if you are a solo traveling it’s a perfect stop.

We arrived at 3:20 and were informed that they were closing at 4:00 for a private event, but they were happy to serve us if we were ok with being fast. The manager brought out 2 bar stools that had been cleared so we could sit at the bar. We ordered quickly and our food was prepared very fast. Despite the rush, everything was impeccable! The oysters were perfect, the fish and chips and steamers were to die for, and the calamari was very good, although a little on the salty side. I have to commend the service, it was outstanding, especially given the fact that they were preparing for a large private party. Although we were warned that our experience would be rushed, we never felt rushed. We are OTR truck drivers and enjoy fine dining all over the country, and this was, by far, one of the best dining experiences we've had! We will definitely be back the next time we're in the area, absolutely top notch!

The place is usually quite popular, but a little less busy on workdays. The menu is extensive and can accommodate anyone’s taste. The personnel is friendly. Our waitress Taylor was attentive. They have great price for oysters during happy hour, and the oysters were really good and fresh. The fisherman platter looked and tasted great. Sourdough clam chowder was a little different from what we are used to, but is pretty good.

Google
Excellent service! Delicious Cioppino! 😋 Worth the 2 1/2 hour drive. Beautiful view of the beach and sunset. Luckily there was a cancellation and we didn't have to wait. A little expensive but it was a treat.💜

Went in without a booking on a Sunday afternoon in summer. Was a bit overcast outside. Were seated pretty quickly at a high table in the middle. It’s pretty crammed in. Served quickly and ordered cocktails. Small glasses for serving size. Ordered baked oysters, they were okay. We ordered the crab salad and the fish and chips. Salad should come in a bowl not on a plate. Otherwise salad tasted okay just difficult to eat on a plate. Fish and chips were fresh and a good portion size. Coleslaw was fresh. Good location (which is worth it if you’re there). Staff were very friendly.

Google
Great Place to eat on the Beach. We had the Shrimp Ceviche, Steamed New Zealand Mussels, Grilled Swordfish & the Newport Seafood Salad. Presentation was amazing and the Mussels were superb. The Swordfish was cooked to perfection. Everything was really good. The staff was extremely friendly and on point with service. It's a small place once inside and can seem cramped (which would be my only negative). This place delivered on all other points though! An unexpected find at the last minute but I would return and will!!

Google
We had good time and the service was good! Our waitress was great, and the service was pretty fast. The oysters were delicious, and the fried shrimp platter was tasty. The only problem was the clam chowder! In the menu it said award wining but in reality it was basically a potato soup with large chunks of potato in it. It really didn’t taste as good. Other than that we were happy.

Google
Excellent. It would seem a touristy place on the front line of the ocean and the bar should not be ideal, but my wife and I were pleasantly surprised. First of all, the selection of oysters is impressive. I love them very much, however I didn't know there were so many varieties, second the crab salad is amazing, third the manager, a nice older man, walks around each guest and chats. It's impressive. I don't feel bad about the $300 I left here at all.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about this place! My first time. Wanted to check out their restaurant week dinner special (one must ask for the menu). The Cioppino was fantastic. Flavorful tomato base with shrimp, fish, clams, mussels, crab and calamari along with 2 pieces of grilled toast. PERFECT. The chilled house salad that came before the Cioppino and is included forthe OC Restaurant week dinner was crisp with slivers of carrots and onions with a light dressing. The dessert - Warm Banana Bread Dark Chocolate Bread pudding with a creme vanilla ice cream was rich and a nice way to end the meal. The cinnamon dark rum glaze might be a bit too heavy for some. And kudos for having decaf coffee! It's perfect with the dessert. The service was friendly and efficient. One of the few places that I've been to that I didn't have to ask for more all the time. The place gets busy for their regular happy hour which runs 3-6. Filled with locals and visitors. A few window seats with good views of the strand. You can call to reserve a table. Mainly tabletops. Casual but perfection!

Yelp
Good food and service definitely coming back . Took a date and she loved it . Made our night

Yelp
YUUUUMMMMM! This was our first trip the Newport Beach and this is right off the beach. Make sure to call ahead for reservations because it's TINY inside. Our food was fresh and tasty. Only setback is there is no kid menu or kid friendly options. The waitress offered buttered noodles or grilled cheese.

Michael V.

Yelp
Restaurant week lunch at the fly 'n' fish oyster bar with a meetup group. I had fish and chips with clam chowder good price for a sample menu. $30. We would come back

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in Newport Beach. 25 minutes drive from Irvine. Service 5/5 seafood very fresh and delicious. Order Oyster, mussels and crispy calamari also king crab legs. Celebrate my birthday in February nice lady bring my ice cream for birthday that very nice of her. Easy to fund parking and walk to Newport Beach Pier. Highly recommended for lunch and dinner.

Nancie N.

Yelp
It's a little hole in the wall however the seafood is amazing!! I tried it during OC Restaurant Week and was super impressed! Staff super friendly and knowledgeable about the items on the menu.

Krystle A.

Yelp
Service was nice. Our server Kristin was very helpful and kind. The place is located literally across the beach, IF u get a window seat which is literally just two or three tables then u have a good view but the majority of the small restaurant is inside with no real view. The food I tried really hard to like but it was very mediocre. We tried a lot of food too bc of the high reviews. The clam chowder (bowl $14) was good had a lot of clams and seafood and potato, and was seasoned well and not too watery or creamy. Also for $14 it was a huge portion. The only thing I wish was that the chowder was hotter temperature wise, it came out luke warm. The cerviche was $18 and It was not good at all. I do not recommend it...no flavor. Total let down and waste of money. The crab cakes were $26 for two! lol it did have a lot of crab but again not flavored at all and it came with this weird sweet mustard sauce that didn't compliment the cakes at all. The fisherman's platter for $27 was a lot of food. It came with two of each fried fish, fried shrimp and fried oysters and three different sauces and Parmesan fries. It was again just ok, the seasoning wasn't crazy but it wasn't bad, just very bland. The Cole slaw that comes with is a nice break from all the fried food, and that was actually flavored nice. Clam steamers was one thing I would actually get again. For $25 flavorful broth and clams that are soaked in and come with flavorful garlic toasted bread. They have no kids menu but you can order fries, buttered Parmesan pasta or grilled cheese upon request.

Yelp
We came here randomly to see the sunset and Newport and wanted to stop by for some snacks so just popped in. This place is definitely crowded and seemed like a solid local spot. For three people, we ordered calamari, poke nachos, and oysters! The calamari was definitely my favorite with airy and crispy batter. I love both rings and legs personally. I think the poke and oysters tied for second, but both were definitely fresh and great to have. This place is a bit tiny so you do want to make sure you come ahead of time, we had to wait about 40 minutes to get seated around 6 pm!

Yolanda F.

Yelp
We started with clam chowder Followed by oysters and lastly the special salmon plate. Was a wonderful Birthday lunch We will definitely be back again Service was great Plenty of parking

Lili T.

Yelp
Stopped by here for a quick little happy hour before we were setting sail in Newport for a work dinner cruise. It was nice to get to stop in here and enjoy some good bites to hold us over. I love the ocean view from our seats and would recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for a nice bite!

Liz G.

Yelp
This dish never disappoints. I got it at heat level 8. It was perfect. Asked for extra veggies too. You have to try this if you haven't yet.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this restaurant after a day of tanning in Newport Beach. The restaurant is very cute and cozy. Service was very quick and attentive. FOOD - Clam Chowder 4/5 - Artichokes 4/5 - Oysters 4/5 - Clam Linguine 5/5: My favorite dish hands down! The dish came out piping hot. So creamy, buttery, with just the right amount of garlic. They did not skimp out on the clams either. Would happily make another pit stop here the next time I'm in Newport. Heard they have a decent happy hour.

Vanessa V.

Yelp
This was a cute little seafood restaurant tucked into the same building our hotel was located in (Newport Beach Hotel), so it was nice to walk to dinner just a few steps away. We shared a bowl of clam chowder and the mussels with fries, paired with a chilled glass of rosé. Service was fast and friendly, and the food was pretty good! I've had better clam chowders for sure, but it was pretty tasty and served as great comfort food for a chilly night staying on the coast. Would recommend if you're staying nearby, it's right on the boardwalk.

DeLayne B.

Yelp
Spent the day yesterday down in Newport Beach pier area. Made a few stops at some of the local eateries and bars along our journey. This is one of my favorite places for just a drink or even some good seafood, we sat at the bar and I had a Kettle 1 vodka with cranberry juice and we ordered the steamed little neck clams, which I could've eaten all to myself, they were so good! The service was OK I think it was shift change or somebody had gone on a break or something so we waited a bit to order and receive our food. But the location has a great view of the beach and a lively casual atmosphere so you don't mind hanging out a bit. It's a great spot, and I definitely will be back again soon.

Yelp
KING CRAB LEGS FTW! Everything we ordered was delicious and perfectly cooked. Staff here do an amazing job making you feel welcomed and are always checking on you. No kids menu but kid friendly as they stored my stroller in the back for me. Seafood Tower: 5/5 monster shrimp cocktails with their own prepared cocktail sauce which was yummy, fresh oysters and a gigantic Alaskan king crab leg... amazing Miso seabass: 5/5 what a surprise to see the fish came "swimming" in the miso broth! It was very unique and delicious Fish and Chips: 5/5 husband said it was the best he's ever had and I agree it's fried perfectly and very meaty pieces Clam Chowder: 4/5 it was good but came out with all our entrees so didn't get to enjoy it piping hot. Alaskan Crab platter: 5/5 SUCCULENT FAT MEATY LEGS! We picked 2 sides the scalloped potatoes (were undercooked meh) and asparagus. Expensive yes but worth it if you love crab legs! I'll be back again to try their other menu items. Thank you for a great dining experience!

Megan P.

Yelp
Food & service was amazing. We got oyster shooters, clam chowder, oyster Rockefeller and the chef's calamari which was perfectly spicy at level 5. Great atmosphere right next to the beach. We'll definitely be back! :)

Yelp
I am still dreaming about this place. We were here last night for a business dinner: Wednesday, 3/13. We had a reservation for 9 people at 8pm (called about 3 weeks before). This place is tinier than most, but the cutest, quaint little place with an open kitchen and full bar. We got there a little early and grabbed some drinks at the bar as our table was clearing. The bar staff was attentive and patient as dealing with 9 grown adults at once can be a bit much. We were able to fit in a round of drinks and got another round before being seated at our table. We started out with the most amazing appetizers: cocktail shrimp, coconut shrimp, bacon wrapped scallops, calamari and the oysters Rockefeller. How in the world were the appetizers so stunningly delicious?! I'm not a huge fan of bacon, but omg it was perfect with the scallops!! Everyone ordered their main entrees soon after and WOW! I got a cup of their award-winning clam chowder and the Fra Diavolo (a tomato-based linguine pasta with a generous variety of seafood). I cannot even begin to describe the amazing flavors of the sauce in the Fra Diavolo. It was the perfect combination of tomato (but not too acidic) and seafood stock (but not too seafoody/fishy). It was absolute perfection and I wish I could bathe in the sauce!! Seriously though, just get it - MUST TRY! Overall, the service was wonderful and the food is out of this world. I can't wait to be back!

Tabitha S.

Yelp
The busiest restaurant I think I have ever been to- I was crammed in a corner at the bar but the food is absolutely worth it! Even if they overcooked the swordfish; it was so well seasoned and the rice was just delicious! Loved the seasonal vegetables and house made tartar sauce. I got my swordfish blackened

Heidi S.

Yelp
Another great experience tonight . The waitress was super sweet and helpful. Food and drinks were amazing. Will be back again soon

Yvette P.

Yelp
My daughter and I dined last night and we had a great time. The server was amazing so kind and attentive. I'm sorry I don't remember her name. But she asked what are plans were for later. I told her that my daughter was traveling back home to Montana early in the morning. Thank you for your fabulous service!

Christine L.

Yelp
Wonderful food. The watermelon salad is huge! I had fish and chips and it was cooked perfectly. Patty was amazing! Fantastic service! Nice ambiance. Beach view.

Bert V.

Yelp
We eat to Fly 'N' Fish in Newport Beach for our friends 98 year old birthday. We had an amazing time, and our server Dawn had everyone in the restaurant sing Happy Birthday to him. He is a veteran, and she made his day so special. She made his day. Great food, great service, and an extremely special day for him.

Robert G.

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a Saturday night. Got lucky to get a parking spot and a cancellation so our wait was not bad. Small and loud restaurant but it works. Varied menu of seafood. Good service. We ordered drinks and a ceaser salad and came with warm bread. Very good. Dinner we got the grilled sea bass and mixed fried seafood plate with oysters, shrimp and fish. Came with fries and coleslaw. All the food was excellent. Very good cocktail and tartare sauce. Prices reasonable for a beach front restaurant.

Frank G.

Yelp
Have currently tried this place many times consistently within the last couple of months, 6 times to be exact, I've taken my 2 sons & brother as well, we've all been very please with the customer service and flavors of the food they serve every single time have been nothing but exceptional, I recommend this place without a doubt.

Elizabeth E.

Yelp
The best clam chowder! And a good wine selection. Great fresh fish, fun location... order blackened cod tacos

Michelle S.

Yelp
My mom & dads favorite place to eat. We come here for all major of our events for family gatherings. Delicious food and great service. It was nice to also see the owner and he was helping serve food as well. The vibes are great and it's very close to the beach which is an extra treat.

Joie R.

Yelp
Small and quaint restaurant. The service was very good and the ambiance was cozy inside. I ordered some appetizers and drinks which were good, but pricey was on the higher side, but you're paying for the great location which is right on the beach!

Nancy J.

Yelp
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. We love this place and will be back soon. Vince was our bartender and makes the perfect martini.

Andrew T.

Yelp
Service was great, drinks were strong, location was good. Food-marginal the sea bass was overly spiced and salty

Bill M.

Yelp
Great location along newport pier. Great stop when on the bikes as parking is rough. excellent choice of libations with margaritas a go to. Gr

Jason D.

Yelp
The Fra Diavolo is a must-try, especially if you're hungry. It's loaded with seafood like shrimp, scallops, clams, mussels, and calamari. The sauce isn't super spicy but it's bursting with flavor. Usually, I'd finish with dessert, but I was stuffed this time. Definitely coming back for more of this dish!

Lydia V.

Yelp
Dropped by for happy hour at this restaurant on the oceanfront in Newport Beach by the pier. The restaurant is cute and the staff is very friendly. We were lucky to find a table for us even though there were many open and apparently they prefer if you have a reservation. We asked to sit by a table by the window and the hostess said that that table was reserved. However, during our entire time there no one was ever seated at that table next to the window looking out towards the beach. So that was very disappointing. We ordered small plates, including the fried calamari, fisherman's platter which included one piece of fried fish, fried shrimp, fried oyster, french fries, and a very small side of coleslaw; clam chowder cup, fish ceviche tostada, and oysters Rockefeller. We also enjoyed a glass of white Savignon blanc and a Paloma. Most of the food was delicious and delicately prepared, and the Paloma beverage was very refreshing. The ceviche was very dry and lacked salt. Hoping I can go back in next time sit at the front table in the window. Enjoy!

Craig H.

Yelp
Great food and service and love the atmosphere. We will definitely be back I had the shrimp pasta and it was great.

Ina H.

Yelp
A hidden gem in NB. Great vibe, excellent food and friendly staff. My fra diavolo was piping hot and really good portion, really wonderful! Mahi sandwich w/ scalloped potatoes was so good too, could be shared. Kinda like Brophy Bro's from Santa Barbara, only no need to drive to SB!! ;)

Cameron L.

Yelp
I'm going to cut right to the chase.... Don't walk...run to this place. It's off the hook delicious! 5 stars all the way around. Just go. You'll thank me later! Now for the deets...My wife found this place on Yelp while I was out surfing Blackies (surf spot in front)... She called and spoke with the host, Mike, who was incredibly friendly right from the start! Green flag out of the gate! When we got there, we were greeted by Mike at the door. He was very welcoming and sat us at a nice table in the back corner - our preferred spot! He gave us some very helpful recommendations and said our waitress would be right over. Taylor showed up very shortly thereafter and she was a delight! We ordered the New England Clam Chowder and the Newport Seafood Salad. Both were excellent!! The bread that came with everything was outstanding! Baked in house, if I remember correctly. Ambience was very nice...Lots of warm wood. Very classic style. There is an open kitchen where you can see them preparing everything! These guys know what they are doing! It was so good that we went back for another post surf session a few days later and, this time, ordered the Crispy Calamari (excellent!!! Probably the best we've ever had) and the New England Clam Chowder, AGAIN! My wife is a clam chowder connoisseur, and she absolutely loved it. We had Taylor as our server again and found out she's been working there for five years! That's a great sign. We also met the GM, Joe. He was awesome, too! Oh, I almost forgot, we ordered a couple of Signature Cocktails, too. The Mai Tai and the Blue Hawaiian. Both excellent! This place is a hidden gem . We will definitely be back to try some of the other offerings. Cioppino, oysters on the half shell, chef's weekly specials, amazing selection of seafood, wines, steak, sandwiches and hamburgers? This place is ridiculous in the best way possible.

Athos F.

Yelp
Best oysters and great staff, keep it that way , from a guy that's live in restaurants this I fresh air

Kimberly H.

Yelp
Service can make a huge difference. Our server was really nice, attentive, and had great suggestions. We got a clam chowder bowl, fish tacos, linguini, and 1/2 dozen oysters two beers, strawberry lemonade, and glass of wine for about $120 + tip. Oysters and tacos are a 4 the rest maybe a 3. Love the beach, old school fish house, sports tavern theme.

Alder L.

Yelp
I really like this place- so fresh and bright. Its located at the Newport Pier, and parking in the winter is no problem. My friend and I sat at the bar. The bartender was really friendly & efficient. It was full but not to crowded later in the afternoon. We had a few cocktails, and shared the grilled artichoke, oysters Rockefeller & coconut shrimp. I really enjoyed everything and highly recommend this spot.

JulieandRob V.

Yelp
Food is always great. Disappointed they charge for refills on soda.most places do not.

Jeannie Y.

Yelp
This place is perfect for those who love 5-Star incredibly delicious and beautifully presented food in a VERY comfortable and warm atmosphere! We were very impressed with the clam chowder and seafood salad! There was a clam in every spoonful of this delicious chowder! There was no need to search for clams! The seafood was very plentiful in the salad which had a delicious assortment--so fresh--crab was especially sweet! The restaurant had the most friendly and welcoming staff! In fact, the host Mike is the reason we chose Fly 'N' Fish Oyster Bar and Grill! He and our server Taylor made our evening memorable! After meeting the GM, Joe, we could see that the warm welcoming starts from the top! We were treated like VIPs! It was so good that we came back in two days! This is a DESTINATION RESTAURANT!!!

David E.

Yelp
The clam chowder here is by far the best I have ever had and the oysters were amazing. The happy hour prices were affordable.

Three D.

Yelp
All good. What a great lunch and dinner menu. The location is off on the Yelp map but this place is perfect to watch the sunset. The host made it happen for us when we didn't have a reservation. A great guy.

Betty C.

Yelp
Place is nice but it is very loud making it impossible to have a conversation. The food and drinks are pricey. We had the clam chowder, a bowl was pretty good size. I liked my but my husband didn't. We shared the scallops, they were pricey, small, and just okay. Next to the pier, great location and service.

Traci M.

Yelp
We found this place on the beach to be very busy but service was quick and fish and chips and crab cakes were all delicious. The slaw was unique and delicious and portions were large enough to justify the price and stellar location. A little noisy but comfortable and a fun atmosphere for dinner.

Anmari E.

Yelp
The Crispy Calamari was melt-in-your mouth soft and the perfectly fried crumb complimented each bite - not to mention the great pairing with the achiote aioli. Another favourite was the Fresh Fish & Chips, featuring perfectly crisp and golden ale-battered Cod with the fish itself being fresh, tender and flaky. Make sure to not skip the coleslaw, it added a delightful surprise to the dish that will leave you coming back for more.

Adrian M.

Yelp
Fantastic food. Amazing service. The best Newport vibe! Brought my papa for his birthday lunch. We had a blast. The cocktails were on point from the get go. Appetizers were stupid good. The Cushi oysters were delicious. The miso sea bass was delicious, as was the ciuppino. The rissoto was amazing and the shrimp tacos didn't disappoint.

Nicole O.

Yelp
Went to this place with my date. It was amazing, the food was delicious and the fish was really fresh. That day wasn't a lot of people, makes it kind of romantic as it's quiet and we enjoyed the food and the whole environment. The waitress was friendly and helpful too.

Ruby B.

Yelp
First time here and my hubby and I had a great seafood lunch. I ordered the grilled mahi mahi sandwich which came with a selection of sides and I chose the grilled veggies. The sandwich was huge and beautifully put together. Nice big piece of mahi mahi for each cut half of the sandwich. The bun was exceptional. Every bite was fantastic and delicious, along with the flavor-filled veggies. The char and seasonings were great, better than most grilled veggies I've ever had. My hubby ordered the fish and chips. The three pieces came out piping hot and fresh. We ordered an extra piece for me and it was perfect. It was a big portion as was the mahi mahi sandwich! Service from Annalise was kind, friendly---she was delightful and patient. The place is smaller than I expected, but yet comfortable and cozy. Every staff member was welcoming and friendly and genuinely caring of their patrons. If I were a local, we would be here a lot. Will definitely come back during future visits!

Amelia S.

Yelp
Clean, cozy, and classic ambiance. We dine here often as I have a dairy allergy and seafood is usually fairly safe. The chefs and wait staff are AMAZING with allergies, always double checking and accommodating. Great drinks and all around good vibes. Best things to order: chefs calamari, ahi poke (I like it without tomatoes), oysters, cioppino, and salmon.
