WORST PIERCING EXPERIENCE EVER.
I can't speak for the shop as a whole, but DO NOT go to 'Cheyne' to have any piercings done, or even something as BASIC as a jewelry change. You'll know him by his Twilight-themed tattoo sleeves (which, in retrospect, had I noticed BEFORE he touched me- I would've never let him touch me to begin with. Twilight fans are morons.)
That's all I went in to do, change jewelry. I was in downtown Antioch and popped into their store on a whim to check out their selection. Saw some seamless rings I liked. They didn't have my size, so they special ordered them for me, said they'd be in by the end of the week. A week goes by, no call. I call in and they say it'll be another week before my lip rings are in. I would've just said 'forget it' and gone to GenRock but I'd already thrown money down on the order. Not necessarily their fault, mail could've been slow- but it absolutely didn't help the allover shitty experience I had with them.
They never called me like they said they would, so I stopped into the store after almost 3 weeks of waiting for my jewelry. They say Yes, in fact the order did come in. I'm referred to their piercer 'Cheyne' who takes me to the back area where we'll be swapping my current 16 gauge studs out for what was SUPPOSED TO BE two seamless 16 gauge rings.
He removes the studs, then proceeds to effortlessly insert two seamless 16 gauge rings. He tells me once they're in, that the diameter is too wide- then removes the rings again, says "Hold on a moment- we're going to try something."
Then WITHOUT ASKING MY PERMISSION- proceeds to force two -14 gauge- rings through my -16 gauge- holes. It hurt like a BITCH. Then he pinched them closed with pliers and left it at that. I ask why it hurt so bad the second time he inserted the jewelry, he gave me some bullshit answer about how they were still healing. THESE WERE YEAR-OLD -HEALED- PIERCINGS, PEOPLE. This guy was a moron, and a bad liar to boot.
I asked him why the jewelry looked so big... were these a 14 gauge? He said Yes, that's what you were pierced at! And I fervently said NO, in fact- I KNOW I was pierced at a 16 gauge. This was NOT my first jewelry change, and all my other jewelry was 16 gauge. He says "No, you weren't a 16- they look great."
At this point I just said whatever, what's done is done and I'm not going to irritate my piercings more by changing the jewelry again that same day. They were quite swollen for about a week afterward, and looked like they were possibly scarring. I left the jewelry in in fear that if I removed them, my newly healing STRETCHED holes would close up and be ruined by scar tissue.
Time goes by, and I have to remove my jewelry for work, so I decide to pick up a retainer. I go straight to Generation Rock in Concord because I know and trust their piercer, Brandonious. He notes that my lip looks very irritated, and starts to bleed when he removes one of the rings. I tell him my horror story of 'Cheyne' at The Flying Dutchman, and he says- "What a douche- not only were those the wrong gauge, they weren't actually seamless rings. All he did was pop out the beads from 2 CBRs and then forced them through your holes, pinched them shut, and didn't even close them properly. The seam shifted down into your lip and swelled up, then healed... HE LEFT THE JEWELRY WITH A GAP IN IT, WHICH CAUSED YOUR PIERCING TO CLOSE UP AND HEAL INSIDE."
The asshole WRECKED my piercings. I had to remove the jewelry completely, and the only option now is to let them heal and re-pierce at a later date- COSTING ME MONEY AND WASTING MY TIME. Thanks a LOT 'Cheyne', you DOUCHEBAG.
