We visited this place for the first time and loved it so much we went back a few days later. First visit we tried the tilapia tacos which come with a pretty hefty bed of rice and beans. The sauce on the tilapia is light and refreshing. The ceviche was finger-licking good; spicy with robust flavors. My son had ordered the chicken fingers with fries. The fingers were a pretty good size. The kids meals come in a very cute boat and include a hush puppy. Second visit, I had to have the tilapia tacos again. They tasted just like the first time; rich in flavor. My son ordered the cheese burger w/ fries and also came with a hush puppy. The burger was also a good size (not small at all). They offer self-serve drinks which include lemonade, sweet/un-sweet tea, and the good ice!! Service was quick. The ambiance was interesting with a wall of Billy Bass Fish. Bring yours in and you will receive a catfish basket!! They also have a very nice patio and plenty of seating inside. We will be back again for sure.

Google
You know the place is memorable when your grandmother whisks you away after church for fried catfish! She loves the fried catfish with a cold mug of beer. The service was quick, food was hot and you get your money's worth. Lots of seafood options, huge menu! Will be back

Aaernetta C.

Google
The alligator queso was good. A little spicy. I didn’t really care for the fried catfish because it didn’t have alot of flavor. The fried shrimp was good and tasty!!!! The chips served with the queso were a little stale.

Google
Flying Fish in Addison does alright with the fried catfish, shrimp, and gumbo. But the hush puppies? Absolutely terrible!! They tasted like they came out of old, nasty oil. I literally had to spit out the first bite. The rest of the food was fine, but when a place that fries everything can’t even get hush puppies right, that’s a big red flag for me.. I was close to giving it just one star, but the catfish and shrimp saved it from being a total loss. Can't imagine I will be back.

My husband and I come here all the time the food is always great, and I like to switch things up now and then. However, the service could really use improvement. I came in on Friday, and the same cashier once again took a long time to come out and attend to us. We constantly have to wait, and many times we end up waiting much longer than we should. What’s frustrating is that she’s often just standing around or not paying attention to customers. I don’t like to complain, but as regulars, it’s disappointing to experience this repeatedly. I’m speaking up because I’m sure other customers have noticed the same issue it’s something management really needs to address.

Google
This review is for the amazing staff working at this Flying Fish location. They’re always so kind and extremely talented. The food here is delicious, great quality and BIG portions. I’m a regular client and every time is always such a pleasant experience. From salmon to chicken everything is perfect. You can’t go wrong 10/10

Google
I'm doing catch up. I was here on May 7, 2023. This is probably my 3rd or 4th visit. I ordered the fried seafood, of course! 😊 I got the fried shrimp and oyster basket. As usual, it was battered just right and it was hot and fresh. Also had boiled potatoes, fries and French bread.

Google
What a wonderful, little cozy and delightful place for seafood! Fish are flying here. They've got all your favorite. And local favs too. We had the crab legs and shrimp boil, dozen raw half shell oysters and fried catfish jambalaya. Yes, I said catfish! Bring your tail here and and enjoy the atmosphere, with classic jazz kick'n on the speakers.

Yelp
Enjoyed the catfish! Nice atmosphere. Located behind the Wholefoods in Addison. Great location. Easy parking. Definitely a re-peat! They also have other locations.

Yelp
Horrible service tonight What is wrong with the workers, the owners need to check their service . Training training training . Very rude tonight The people working tonight need to be trained . For a cook to say something to me rude , what's wrong with them . Now they are all in a huddle talking as if they weren't supposed to be helping customers
google avatar

Yelp
The blandest seafood I have ever tasted in life! From shrimp, to crab legs to redfish it all tasted like it had been cooked in plain hot water and then a dash of a Cajun-looking (not tasting) spice on top. Four of us spent $25 apiece and walked out leaving half-eaten plates on the table. We absolutely hated this meal. Summary: SKIP THIS PLACE! I'd give zero stars if I could.

Yelp
DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR TIME. I placed an order online and got there and they claimed I didnt have an order. I showed the receipt AND order confirmation. The cashier said "oh thats an old website". BUT u all took the money??? I reported fraud w bank. See attachments

Yelp
We usually go to the flying fish in Plano, but I had to be in Addison today so we chose the Addison location and boy. Did we make a huge mistake!.. it was about 1:45 PM and we ordered. I have the vegetable plate and my partner had the tilapia. He had onion rings with his and they were black. Literally black and my okra was so overdone that the inside was actually nonexistent.... The salad was mediocre with a top of a tomato that still had the core in it and the spinach, which is ordinarily scrumptious at other locations was smashed and had absolutely no flavor. It tasted like it could be on the concrete outside.... I recommend other locations, but please stay away from this one. It was just horrible.!

Yelp
November 1st....I am in visiting my sister in support her breast cancer diagnosis....in from Colorado. We love this restaurant and usually go to Fire Wheel location where the service is 5 star! We ordered $100 + one being boiled snow crab legs at $29. As we were walking back to our table with our food order. The crab tray was warped and my crab fell off ‍ I picked up what I could with the help from a gentleman setting across from my sister and I. The manger refused to credit me for the loss saying it was our fault. Being senior the cook suggested we threw the crab away and said we should be more careful . Look at the photo below of the warped tray!!!Rude behavior from the older cook and heavyset girl " manger". I would not ever go there again! Go to fire wheel it's worth the drive

Yelp
I was in the neighborhood looking for a bite to eat so I stopped in, I have been to a few other locations but this was my first time at this location. My go to is the grilled chicken poor boy so I ordered and waited for my meal to be ready. My food came out fairly quickly, the fries were fried to perfection but I was disappointed with the sandwich. While very flavorful the meat to bread and toppings ratio was not satisfactory. My sandwich came with a small thin slice of chicken, while it has been a while since I've had this meal I do remember receiving more chicken than what I received. I think I will stick to going to the other locations from here on out.

Yelp
2/20/2025 I really had high hopes for this place because the menu had everything that I like! Unfortunately it came up pretty short. I ordered a dozen raw oysters ($24.95), boiled crawfish ($8.95) and a cup of seafood gumbo ($5.95). The gumbo had a very dark roux and had shrimp that seemed to have been overcooked and had been sitting out for a while. The oysters were flavorless and again seemed old. The crawfish appeared to not have been boiled in seasoning but rather just sprinkled with Cajun spice after being boiled in plain water. Completely disappointing. I would have given it just one star but the decor was cool.

Yelp
This place was so good. Alligator queso, fried shrimp, tilapia, fried pickles, all good. Definitely recommend. And honestly a really big roomy restaurant with cute fish decor

Yelp
I'm a member of the Flying Fish's Grub Club, which is a buy-one-get-one-free coupon issued once a month. I usually get a catfish dinner, but decided this time to try the tilapia tacos. Boy, am I glad I did! The tacos were absolutely delicious, and came with a side of red beans and rice. (The hush puppies in the pic came from my husband's meal because he didn't want them). The portion was large enough that I took some home to eat for lunch the next day. This is definitely a new favorite of mine.

Yelp
Has been years since stopping by Flying Fish for Sunday oysters on the 1/2 shell special. They have gone from .50 each to 1.50 but what hasn't gone up. We shared a dozen and beer before meeting friends for dinner at a different restaurant. Oysters were large and fresh beer was cold. Yum. Not much to say about service as you order at counter and pick up when ready. Cute interior music was a little loud.
google avatar

Richard M.

Yelp
False advertising Went to try the lobster roll. It was not lobster at all. My guess it was craw fish. Tiny little craw fish tails and not a lot of them. Not worth the $18.99 they charged. I enjoyed the fried shrimp we they were tasty.
google avatar

Racquel W.

Yelp
The catfish was seasoned good and served hot. The shrimp was ok, nothing fantastic. My fries were cold, so I sent them back. Then tye "fresh" ones arrived under cooked. Just dipped in the oil and out....practically raw. I could not finish those.
google avatar

Jennine K.

Yelp
Came on Sunday with a group of friends to try out their $1.50 oyster special. I guess you kind of get what you pay for because I don't think the oysters were all that special. I also ordered a bowl of their lobsters stew, but unfortunately I found it pretty flavorless and watery.
google avatar

Lynn F.

Yelp
Great crispy catfish, shrimp and hush puppies - in and out quickly before taking in a movie.
google avatar

Kali G.

Yelp
This place is exactly what it looks like it would be. Homey-old time, feel-good food. Fried basket is delicious (we had catfish) and a total bang for your buck. Salty and fried to perfection. Oysters were nothing to write home about, but the array of table sauces and self serve horseradish made up for it. Gumbo had great flavor, but came out lukewarm.
google avatar

Yelp
Never disappoints. Always solid. Been doing it for a long time. There is a reason there are several locations.

Yelp
This location has to be by far the worst location I've ever eaten at! When you fist walk in there's a weird mildew smell. The workers were not friendly what so ever and the food was bland! the salmon had no seasoning to it mind you I ordered the snappy mixed with garlic butter so I'm confused on how the salmon was bland. the zucchini was dry and the rice was ok ! Oh and the salmon filet are smaller at this location don't waste your time coming to this location! I love flying fish but this location is nasty and the customer service sucks

Jake M.

Yelp
Very north eastern style seafood joint. Having growing up in Boston in New York for a fried food place I would check it out.
google avatar

Jo L.

Yelp
I usually go to the coppell location but saw that this is about the same distance. BIG MISTAKE! The food was completely different! It was completely tasteless. And I even ordered it SNAPPY :( still no seasoning? We ordered grilled salmon plate and salmon salad. Union rings, beans and rice. I was really shocked at the BIG difference between the food at different locations. I will never come back to this location. Don't waste your money.

Yelp
Gorgeous mature trees that hug the outdoors space. Service us stellar. It's been about 10 years since my last visit and I can tell you it will be more often from now on on my visits. I love this place. We kicked off our engagement anniversary here this past Thursday and headed to Down Town Dallas. Highly recommend the fish tacos and catfish basket.

George K.

Yelp
Love love love Flying Fish. Plenty of menu options. Your choice to go healthy or grab some guilty pleasure items. Friendly staff. Casual, fun, & plentiful indoor/outdoor seating. Order took a little longer than expected, but it was worth the wait. I highly recommend a grilled fish of your liking done chimichurri style.

Vera P.

Yelp
I used to love this place. Order grilled tilapia which was dry. The grilled zucchini had absolutely no taste to it. The only food that is still good are the beans an rice. The staff was friendly and the food was on time.

Adonica C.

Yelp
The food was good and the atmosphere was more like being at the coast. The staff were friendly.

Yelp
What happened to you guys?! A year ago, your food was pretty much flawless!! Now, a year later, after having been going there consistently every month (albeit, always take-out), suddenly the food is HORRID! We ordered a calamari basket ($10.95) and it was about a fist-sized portion and was .... THE WORST CALAMARI WE'VE EVER HAD!! Now normally, some level of rubbery texture as what you'd expect when done wrong. But this... THIS shameful Calamari was absolutely inedible! First bite and the CALAMARI ring cracked off in 3 places!! It was so hard and over-cooked and old, it's what you'd expect if you tried your GOOD calamari that you left on the dashboard of your truck left out in the sun for a week!!! And ALL of them were like that!! Next, the French fries were also hard and dry. Old, heat lamp dry. Catfish was acceptable, but that's it. We're done with this place until someone notifies me of new management or chefs. Btw. I rarely bother to come back to ask for a refund or replacement. I felt compelled to ask for an explanation and refund. But.... Apparently, no one there knows how to work a cash register or even attempt to make amends. Just playing "dumb" and shaking their heads. Save your money and GO SOMEPLACE ELSE WHO CARES what they serve.
google avatar

Chad D.

Yelp
Food here is really good. I've had both some of their fried and grilled dishes and have been happy with both. You really can't go wrong with either. It's fast casual. Order and pay at the counter and wait for your buzzer to go off before going to pick up your food. Beverages are also self serve.

Yelp
I was at the Whole Foods nearby and wanted some fried fish. To my surprise, Flying Fish was not far. When I walked in, there weren't many people inside. As a matter of fact, no one was inside, just the workers. I guess I came at a slow point in the day. I don't normally eat at places that doesn't have a good amount of people. At any rate, I ordered... I settled on ordering the fried fish and shrimp combo, which came with French fries and hushpuppies. I didn't have to wait too long for my to-go order. Once I got to the car, I took a peak because it did smell yummy. I could tell right away that they fried my fish in grease that was a tad bit too old. It wasn't fresh. I did have to consider that it was later in the day. I arrived after 3 pm. Although my fish and shrimp were a bit darker than I'd like, it had great flavor. Everything had the right amount of seasoning, which is always a plus. I wasn't mad at all. I enjoyed my meal. Being that I don't live close to this spot, I'm sure I will not be a frequent customer. If I'm in the area, I would consider stopping in for some food.

Yelp
I love oysters so we are always trying to find a place that serves them well. The oysters as of right now 11/10/20 look like this. Pretty good size, round. However I wish they released the oysters from its shell when shucking. The fried catfish was delicious. I would definitely come here again.
google avatar

Greg H.

Yelp
Went out to lunch with the guys from the office. Price, quality and quantity were spot on. I had the #4 with shrimp(4) and catfish filets(2). I loved the fried shrimp. My first filet was very thin and more batter than anything else. My 2nd piece was perfect. Fries and gush puppies in my opinion were average at best. Not a destination place but if looking for quick, fast and fresh seafood this is the place.
google avatar

Candy B.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I have had our eyes on this spot for a while and we finally stopped in and it did not disappoint us... all of the food was delicious!

Yelp
2019 has been a most challenging year, starting off with a broken right arm and wrist; so it goes without saying, I've had to make many adjustments to my routine and lifestyle. With only one functioning arm and hand....1. Can't drive. 2. Can't do much more in the kitchen but microwaving all the great meals wonderful friends bring me weekly. So on those days when I don't even feel like going to the kitchen, blessed be those restaurants that deliver...and in steps Flying Fish ! Catfish anyone? FF fills the craving for plump, crispy, well seasoned fried catfish, with extra made in house tartar sauce, extra lemon wedges, quite good french fries, and pretty darn good hush puppies. Yes, I've just described my lunch exactly as delicious as it sounds; some of the best catfish I've had anywhere. Door Dash was on time, actually 10 minutes early, and....drum roll...FREE DELIVERY for this first time order. Sure beat plating up leftovers, microwaving and washing dishes. Hmmm, wonder what my next delivery will be ?

Yelp
Love the casual vibe of this place. When you walk in you'll see a wall of singing bass fish and pictures of proud fishermen with their catch of the day. Service was great, food was super tasty!
google avatar

S W.

Yelp
Great service and their food is always terrific. Fried Catfish is always hot and crispy, and tender inside. Fries always cooked perfectly. Grilled snapper Veracruz is delicious, as is the Mexican Cocktail, where Shrimp Cocktail meets Gazpacho!
google avatar

Adam W.

Yelp
This is a really great place to get some fried fish,me and the wife have been coming here for some time now and they never disappoint, the service is super friendly the restaurant is clean and the food is great,I love this location because we can grab a bite before a good night out at the bars near by,jar fish and shrimp is my go to,the shrimp are large and the catfish is good, the breading is what takes it over the top,we will definitely be back soon, also on a nice night the patio is perfect!
google avatar

grayson m.

Yelp
Fish is terrible and tasted very watery and the fries feel like u chewing on a inner tube of a tire and and the hush puppies are like little rocks and I bet you can throw them across the lake and get 2 good skips off of them all in all the service was good and the employees where nice but the food was terrible I give it a flat 0 out of 10.

Tall G.

Yelp
We were really disappointed. First, we didn't realize it was an order-at-the-counter place. The woman who took our order definitely didn't want to be there and had no Fs to give. We ordered a dozen oysters, and both of us got the red snapper. The oysters were pretty good. They weren't all separated from the shell very well so some of the meat was lost to the shell. The snapper was bland and overcooked. There was no seasoning on it at all, lacking even salt. We were both really disappointed. The beans & rice that came with it were also an odd flavor and nothing that was good. The prices are good for this place for the mains (oysters are kind of pricey though). But the quality of the food just wasn't there. Plus the place is kind of dumpy and not a great experience. We won't go back with other better options out there.
google avatar

Yelp
Catfish is great... Hush puppies are great... Service was fast... Fries are terrible... Please offer another side or spice em up ...do something... Thank you

Yelp
I have been to this shopping center many times and didn't see this restaurant until a friend pointed it out. Over time, I actually forgot about it because I do not ever pass it. Thankfully last night my BF mentioned this as a place to go for a casual dinner. When I saw they had fish tacos, I knew that was going to be my choice. You get three tacos (very thin, crispy shells, not greasy at all, they use peanut oil), filled with either fried catfish or grilled tilapia. I went the tilapia route and added avocado. The tacos also have a nice, light slaw and I got the chipotle sauce (cream based sauce that is quite tasty) and some pico. The tacos were severed with a bowl of rice topped with beans. The tacos were filled with a filet of tilapia, not just a couple of chunks. I mean a it was filled with a filet. The beans and rice were quite good too...I did add some additional hot sauce, but I tend to like a bit more spice. We did also get a draft beer that they served in a large, VERY frosty mug. I didn't expect such a nice little detail in this casual place. Well done! The decor is playful, super casual, and reminds me of a cool hole in the wall type place in Southern California (they do have the BEST fish taco places). They also have a nice patio space. The staff was friendly, helpful, and it is just a place you feel comfortable. If you're looking for a no frills type place to get some homey seafood, give it a try. I will definitely be back for the fish tacos and to try some other items on their menu. They also offer coupons if you sign up on their website. It only requires a name, email address and which location. I am always a fan of a place that I enjoy that offers coupons. Enjoy y'all!!

Yelp
Service was good and fast I had shrimp tacos with red beans and rice which was delicious most definitely getting again my partner had a catfish basket and enjoyed that as well.
google avatar

Junie B.

Yelp
I love this location. The staff is friendly, the food is always good, it has a great patio and plenty of seating inside or out! Their catfish is ALWAYS so good!! I had raw oysters this time and although they were big and good, I personally prefer they don't rinse out the saltwater. Overall, this place is a fave.
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
Perfectly cooked fish! I fear seafood restaurants that overcook fish. The Addison location does it right: tender and juicy. My wife and I had the snapper grilled with garlic butter and oysters. It was a perfect meal. We are Keto and it is an expectation that we have our meals cooked without seed oils and sugar. The Flying Fish is able to make accommodations.

Donna S.

Yelp
great seafood. My personal fave is the fried catfish. Trying calamari today. We never miss an opportunity to eat here when we are in the Preston Center area. 5 star.
google avatar

Doug C.

Yelp
We are regular fans of this restaurant especially in Plano where we usually eat. Today we wanted a road trip so off to Dallas location. Much smaller than Plano location but food and service A-OK. Virus mitigation efforts in place so its a safe place to eat. We came hungry but left with plenty of leftovers which makes price per meal very good.
google avatar

Ponchai R.

Yelp
How and why did I always pass this place, I questioned myself. Till today, it happened, I dropped in for lunch. Parking was a breeze. Right at the entry is chalkboard advertising today's lunch special. Enter and be prepared to gaze at around at all the cool objects that decorate this restaurant. There's not a wall untouched or part a ceiling uncovered with something. Feels like I just traveled someplace on the coast. This is an order at the counter, get your own drink and pick up your food type establishment. Tip at your discretion. Let's get to the meal. I ordered the grilled salmon. It was cooked to perfection. The lemon butter was a nice touch. I had extra veggies instead of the rice. This is as simple of a lunch as it can get. Nothing went wrong and I had a good first experience. The food was satisfying and I left happy. Now I need to come back and try the gumbo and other items. Highly recommend this place.
google avatar

Rosney W.

Yelp
Flying Fish is a treat for me. I love the frog legs and alligator and encourage you to try something new. Eating frogs and alligator does not sound appetizing but I was not disappointed. I have had frog before and it had a fishy taste and texture. But at Flying Fish taste like a cross between seafood and chicken and how can you go wrong with that combination. If you want to try something more basic then go for th alligator which is also similar to chicken nuggets in my opinion. Enjoy either way and let me know what you think especially if you have never tried either!

David S.

Yelp
Best seafood I've had. Reminds me of back home @ South Padre Island. For me to say that so far inland is saying something bout thus place. Keep up the great seafood.
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
The food is good but I do have a small issue. We ordered gumbo and shrimp po boy meal. The gumbo wasn't hot nor warm. It was good. I'll definitely come back. It's kind of pricey so get ready to spend a few bucks but seafood is never cheap here in Dallas. Update: I went to register to ask cashier to heat the gumbo. This lady told me I had it for 30 minutes and I am just now telling her. No ma'am!!! I did not have it for 30 minutes!!! We have not been here for 30 minutes. We got here at 15-20 minutes ago. The food was out for about 7-8 Minutes. I will not be back!

Yelp
This is a frequent stop for us. We love the broiled fish platters with rice & beans and grilled zucchini. Great value and really tasty.
