As someone who spends too many hours in glass towers and not nearly enough in places with actual character, I’ve been on the hunt for a new regular coffee spot in Shoreditch. After several disappointing flat whites in the area, I’ve finally struck gold.
The coffee here is exceptional — clearly sourced with care and roasted to bring out nuance rather than mask it. Their espresso has that balance of brightness and depth that only comes from beans treated with respect; you can taste the citrus top notes without losing the chocolatey base. Milk drinks are textured properly — not the scalded froth you get in too many “specialty” places — but a silky microfoam that lets the espresso speak.
What truly wins me over, though, is the staff. They’re knowledgeable without being pretentious, happy to talk tasting notes or simply get you your coffee quickly if you’re dashing back to the office. There’s an ease and warmth here that makes it feel like more than just another café — it feels like somewhere you can actually settle into as a regular.
For a banker who knows his way around a single-origin pour-over as well as a Bloomberg terminal, this place has absolutely won my heart. Consider me a loyal customer.
