"Cozying up with a good book and a California cab just got a little easier with the opening of Flyleaf, the cafe and bar that doubles as a bookstore. A very unique concept and very well executed! Loved the vibe, good drinks/food/coffee and book collection. It’s a 3 story coffee/bar book store with patio sitting on 3rd floor. They don’t take reservations and it’s first come first serve. Interior design s beautiful and esthetic! Make sure you carry some quarters for parking on Main Street otherwise backside of Flyleaf there’s parking with digital pay option.

A place you just want to stay for hours. The furniture and flowers and wood work are amazing. Our service was fantastic. We had the cheese board and a salad. Everything was great. Paid parking on the street. The have an elevator for the 2nd and 3rd floors. The roof top looks amazing.

the attentiveness of wait staff was kind of long. the bathrooms are upstairs. I didn't love my beach read drink. it smelled and tasted like a first aid kit never that I've ever eaten band-aids. the blackberry mocktail my sister in law got was great. my sisters espresso martini was also great. I tried their deviled eggs of the day which were with Greek orzo on top. I was nervous since I hate onions so much, but it surprised me. I'll have to try more stuff made with orzo. I do rate the atmosphere high which is top reason to come here. it's like having lunch in a library. there were 3 of us, and they auto include gratuity on the bill. overall... I'm torn. I love book cafes, but it also feels slightly pretentious here. maybe I just need to try more food like they serve here. feels like a library made by and for people who haven't read the books they own. this might not be the case. it's just the impression or energy here. I came wearing leggings, a detroit vs everybody hoodie, and my medical officer star trek chucks. my nerdiness probably isn't catching. or I don't look like I'm made of money 🤷

Beautiful spot with amazing drinks! The servers were extremely nice but were a little bit unorganized. The book selection is great and I could spend hours there. Will definitely be back!

This is my third or fourth time at the Flyleaf and I fall in love all over again each time. The ambiance is second to none, and the staff are super helpful and friendly. They didn’t have service upstairs until later in the day, but after we ordered at the bar downstairs, they still brought our food to us, which was very nice. We sat on the rooftop, and it was gorgeous - one of the staff even turned on the fireplace for us without us asking :) I ordered the mediterranean orzo salad - light, tasty, and perfect for a summer afternoon. Flyleaf has to be one of my favorite places in town!

10pm on a Friday. Wife and I just had a couple of cocktails. A place for conversation or just sit have a drink or a coffee and chill. - Mellow, relaxing vibe, nice mellow music. - Drinks were well made. - Staff was friendly and helpful. - Fireplace on second floor, wife very happy. - Look forward to checking out the roof top deck when it opens.

The atmosphere is absolutely stunning and inspiring. The food was delicious. It just began to get a bit crowded after 5pm and it felt tight because the seating is limited. I arrived before 4pm so I secured cozy and beautiful seating in front of the fireplace. I definitely plan to return, perhaps in the morning to fully enjoy and explore the space.

As both bookworms and foodies we were so excited to visit after seeing this place online. The atmosphere inside was a book lover's dream and the idea of a bookstore/bistro/bar reminded me of something you would see in NYC. Unfortunately our experience was a bit awkward as we found it is a small place filled with tables that are placed too close to the bookshelves. You cannot browse or look at most of the books without being too close to someone eating at a table. After waiting about 20 minutes our table was ready and we were sat by the front door. The hostess knew it was cold so she suggested to keep wearing our coats throughout the entire lunch. Kind of disappointing as we were not given the option to stay on the waitlist so we could sit elsewhere. The food was okay and the drinks were good. We only ordered a couple of small bites. Maybe dinner is better? We went on Saturday (early afternoon) and I think it would have been more enjoyable if it was less busy. We loved and appreciated the idea of the space, atmosphere, and variety of books on the shelves and hope that they find a configuration that works better for the future. As of now if you are first time visitors like us, make sure you think of it more as a Café that is decorated with books, and it just so happens you can buy them.

Yelp
Instagram brought me here..and it was totally worth the drive! The ambiance is a cozy old school with almost speak easy vibes. Theres two levels with floor to ceiling book shelves filled with stationary, candles, bags, and of course books! The books are all new copies and prices are standard retail. Theres multiple various places to sit and read, chat, or enjoy some of their drinks and food. We went during a busy weekend time and only waited around 10 minutes for a 3-top table. I had a Beach Read cocktail which was mezcal, agave, and apricot liqueur. The food during our menu time didn't consist of traditional entrees, but plenty of shareables to try (or keep for yourself!) We ordered the wagyu flatbread, charcuterie board, and house cut fries. We loved everything! Despite having a lot going for the retail, bar, and restaurant, you could tell most everything was house-made and prepared by order. There was a mix up with which board we ordered so we ended up with a complimentary cheese board which was very generous of them! Our server, Lauren, was an absolute GEM! She was so sweet, attentive, and offered so much insight on the various books we picked out. She was a delight to chat with during our visit. The only con is that merchandise is located behind tables and other sitting areas. When you are eating there are multiple people coming up to look at the things around you and vice versa, when you are browsing, you have to stand next to people eating and chatting with their table. It can be a little awkward, but I went with the mindset that this would be the situation and it's just unavoidable. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back! I loved it here!

Yelp
Hard to believe that anyone reads books anymore but if you were going to, this might be one of the most beautiful bookstores around. Gorgeous dark woods, beautiful seating, a gorgeous outdoor area, and books, so many books. Oh would you like to drink something caffeinated while you peruse the latest John Patterson? Coffee Check. Maybe get loaded and try to read something Twilightish or 50 Shades of Greyish. Cocktails check would you like to snack a little numnum while perusing the latest Rachel Ray cookbook? Also check What a wonderful find in GPF. I usually wait for the movie so the books didn't draw me in, but the ambience, the drinks and the snacks definitely did.

Yelp
A very chic bookstore and bar. The decor is beautiful and they have a couple floors of books and also spaces to sit. I am not really sure how it works on all the floors to sit and order, they didn't really explain the options as far as that goes. The food and drinks are a little pricey but probably about average for being in Grosse Pointe. I wish there were a few more food choices. The deviled eggs my sister ordered were good, I do think it's fun they rotate the style of them. The French Fries were good, but I wish they had a variety of dipping sauces you could choose from. My espresso martini was excellent, probably the best thing I had.

Yelp
We visited here the first week of March around 6:20pm. This was my first visit! To be honest, I live not far away and I didn't even know it existed until days before our visit, and was pleasantly surprised. I've been to similar joints before but having one locally is very nice. We were told about 30 minutes for a seat so we put our name on the list. We ended up leaving for a bar nearby right before 7pm because no table opened up, so we only got one drink - I was waiting to take a seat for drink 2. My only complaint was that service was sssssllllloooowww. There was a table upstairs (next to where we were standing for most of the visit) where the 2 customers were waiting to get their check, they asked right after we posted up there. They eventually got the check, but, by the time we left, the employee still hadn't come back to take the card for them to pay. No wonder tables open so slowly. As for the drinks, I know that the 2 I visited with LOVED theirs. For me, I wanted a specialty cocktail, but I'm a vodka/gin girl and there weren't many options on their winter menu which was still being offered at the time. Multiple tequila & bourbon type drinks were being featured. I like aperol so chose the only option that sounded good to me, unfortunately it was a bit too heavy on the aperol so it was a tad *too* bitter for me. I'd 100% like to try their spring menu. I haven't seen it shared yet, but once I can take a look at it, I'd like to hit it up again. The ambiance is on point. Without a table it's hard to really browse the books. I like to read the cover and flip a bit. With a drink in hand, it's a little more difficult. The vibe is very chill, homey. The fire going is a nice touch and reslly adds to the charm. There are so many beautiful books! A couple additional places to set a drink would be nice for those milling around - a railing here and there I don't think would detract from the space. I haven't seen the Spring menu posted, but I'll keep checking because I feel like Spring at Flyleaf is going to be right up my alley. :)

Yelp
This is a wonderful bookstore/cafe offering! I visited on a Wednesday early afternoon after hearing its standing room only during their peak hours. There was no greeting upon entering, although there were 3 staff members who looked up from the bar area. I smiled and moved on. There are books, art, gifts and a warm glow from the wood paneling and lighting throughout each of the 3 levels. The staircases are lovely. There is an elevator available, though I didn't use it. There were several groups of people dining in, chatting, and enjoying coffee- which smelled delightful. I plan to return for a bite. Hopefully, there will be a better reception when we walk in. There is metered street parking.

Yelp
This place is MAGICAL and I hate that it's so far from me, but it's completely worth the trip every time out to Grosse Pointe Farms! Flyleaf is this gorgeous coffee/cocktail bar and bookstore all in one! It has all these different pockets of areas where you can sit, get cozy, and read or work on your computer, while surrounded by all these gorgeous bookshelves and books! The interior decor is simply OUT OF THIS WORLD and I just feel SO at peace here! It's located in the downtown area of Grosse Pointe Farms and is definitely a must-visit. I'm going to be coming here often to just relax, catch up with friends, and sit and read. No laptops after 5 pm because that's when this space turns more cocktail bar, but cocktails are already served by the time we got here at 3 pm on a Monday. They also offer several pastries and we got one of their croissants (they were sold out of a lot of their goodies by the time we got there) and one of their muffins to split. Both were delicious and I also got a hot chocolate from them that was also delicious. My friend and I found a cozy spot on the second floor by the fireplace. She did some studying on her laptop while I read. I don't know how to describe this place other than simply MAGICAL. We need more places like Flyleaf in all areas around metro Detroit, but until then, I'll be coming here OFTEN! Love it!!

Yelp
Photo-documented the visit. Ambiance. This is a place to see and be seen. There were some INTERESTING outfits that seem as if I was in Milan, NYC, or LA. Beautiful decor. PACKED on a Friday night, naturally. MAKE RESERVATIONS. Not a place to read your book in the evenings. Will have to come during day to see if atmoshere allows me to linger. Potables and Comestibles. Interesting. Many cocktails. Really enjoyed the Cheese Board. Service. After being sat, took a LONG minute before a server greeted us and took our order. Some other team member resumed serving us when we needed more crackers. She was nice, friendly, and super accommodating. Parking. Street metered. Or free after 5pm weekdays. Overall, coming back.

Yelp
Flyleaf was such a good experience, Our waiter Aaron was such a pleasant and kind and helpful server, Also it was my first time there and definitely will be back to see him again. Food was so good we started off with some Vanilla Lattes and the BlackBerry Mocktail, then we started with the Orzo Salad and The House Cut Fries. then we got the Charcuterie Board and the Waygu Bread. Everything was amazing and it was just such a good Experience. Definitely will be back!

Adrianne B.

Yelp
Lovely, upscale setting with a small but chic bar and cafe menu. Getting a table for a small group may be a challenge, as there are many singles occupying an entire 4-top. The service was good and the food was excellent, particularly the lobster roll. Prices are steep and there is an automatic 20% gratuity added, so keep that in mind when you see the bottom line!

Karen W.

Yelp
Flyleaf is a beautiful cafe/bookshop that is stunning inside. The dark wood and carefully thought out decor is very inviting. A book lovers paradise. I was kind of sad to see people on laptops, there are so many amazing books to look and read here. Loved the unique seating arrangements. My friend and I snagged two leather chairs in a nook upstairs. We had a perfect latte, some reading and chatting. The only downside is the way the building is laid out you may have people hovering over you whole trying to browse books. With some reconfiguration that could be worked around. They do have a few food items but sadly nothing gluten free so I didn't try anything. There are some unique cocktails and wines on the menu and I could see coming later in the day for a glass of wine and a book.

Charli O.

Yelp
Reserve the Reading Room on a Saturday morning for our Book Club. We had nine people with multiple orders and all the food was delivered correctly and quickly by Hannah. She was cheerful and efficient. The food was all delicious. I don't get photos of the drinks or the quiches, but they were also amazing. A bit pricy, but worth it for the setting, food and service. The room was a bit tight for nine, but we managed it. Two couches, two armchairs and multiple stools were available for seating in the Reading Room, along with a lovely fireplace. When you reserve, you guarantee a certain amount of purchase. I had the cheese board which was well worth the price.

Kelly Y.

Yelp
Wowwww STUNNING. The dark wood floor to ceiling bookshelves, the immaculate bar on the first floor, the several cozy fireplaces and reading nooks, and the food and drinks!!! I got a drink (called Mr. Darcy, no less), and it was just amazing to sit by the fire, read a book, and sip my drink. I want my future home to look exactly like this. Actually, maybe I'll just move in here. FYI, parking was a little weird. This was my first time in this area. The meters in the front of the shop only took coins but apparently the ones in the back were pay by app. We came at around 2PM on a weekday, and there were plenty of open spots. It definitely got pretty busy around 5PM though. And there were signs up saying no laptops after 5PM.

D R.

Yelp
Was served coffee at a table then told we had to walk to the front bar for cream and sugar. No decaf available. We had coffee and pastry, when she brought our bill, she said the 20% gratuity was already added. So let's see ...she didn't bring any cream and sugar to the table but added 20% tip to the bill. Sorry that just isn't right. Cute place and the coffee was good.

Gianna G.

Yelp
A beautiful new bookstore/cafe in Grosse pointe. We were here on a Saturday at two and it was completely jammed so if you want to get into this place, you may have to wait a while. We were lucky and got a table pretty fast. But even on the whole second floor, I couldn't find anything at first! We only had a redeye and a Matcha latte. So I can't speak to the food but I did see some people eating quiche and it looked good. Would like to try some of their menu items next time. Friendly staff, and just a great ambience inside. Looking forward to going back!

Alexis B.

Yelp
I've been to Flyleaf a few times now, and every single experience has been wonderful. The atmosphere is cozy yet elevated, the service is friendly, and the food and drinks are delicious. And on top of that, the book selection is perfect. My only complaint is I only wish it were closer to me!

Irina G.

Yelp
What a cute hidden gem. Too bad it's a bit far for me and closes early. The atmosphere is very warm. Drinks and appetizers were great. Service super friendly. Best of all...books, lots of books. Great place to gather for book club or just simply enjoy a nice atmosphere

Kassy K.

Yelp
The ambiance is spectacular. All the books all the drinks, it's just so hip and creative. A bar by night a coffee place by day and always surrounded by books and fireplaces, say less! The menu is a bit pricey for lunch and dinner but the vibes are great. It's a seat your self situation and the parking still uses coin meters right outside the facility so come prepared with some quarters. They even have mock tails on their menu for those who don't drink (:

Nicole R.

Yelp
Five stars for the amazing concept that flyleaf has brought to grosse point farms - I love the concept of a chic bookstore, cafe, and libations all in one! I truly wish there were more flyleaf locations in metro Detroit as it's a wonderful idea and I loved visiting. The seating here is limited and if you come here in a weekend be prepared to have to wait for a spot to open up to sit or stand. I came in around 2:15 pm ish on a Saturday and there was nowhere to sit down unfortunately but I was able to get a delicious seasonal latte to go which had vanilla, cinnamon and an orange peel flavor in it and was strong and sweet but not too sweet (plus 3 shots of espresso = winning!). When I came in apparently food wasn't being served any longer ? Not sure when food service stops / kitchen may close at 3pm on a weekend is my guess so just know that and no pastries were on display in the window so I missed that also. I loved seeing the cool variety of cups, coffee, cards, books, totes, cookies for sale as it is all displayed in a manner which is very appealing even if you have to sneak behind people's tables just to get a peek as space is somewhat limited here. I did love seeing the cozy fireplaces here and hope there will be another location coming at some point. Don't forget to also bring coins for the street parking as the meters are old school. Anyways I definitely loved this place and would come back, I hear weekdays are better to visit during during the day as they are less crowded. I just would be cautious of coming with a bigger group as I'm just not sure if reservations can even be made.

Dany B.

Yelp
This is the absolute perfect place to unwind after a long day. Great food ,INCREDIBLE cocktails, huge selection of books to shop. Inviting atmosphere that makes you feel at home. Elegant, cozy and sophisticated.Every detail is well thought of like the matches and the napkins in the bathrooms. Servers are friendly!!!

Ned I.

Yelp
The wait is finally over! After over 3 years since its initial announcement, Flyleaf is opening its doors. The concept is truly unique, as it's a bookshop, bistro, and bar all in one. There are 3 levels: a nonfiction level, a fiction level, and the rooftop. The interior is beautiful, as it's both elegant and welcoming. All of the staff members were friendly and professional. As for the food, I only tried the deviled eggs and butterscotch pot de crème, but both were delightful. The deviled eggs were topped with whitefish, roe, cucumber, and herbs. The butterscotch pot de crème was both savory and sweet. Everything I saw come out of the kitchen looked delicious, as well. This is a great addition to The Hill in Grosse Pointe Farms.

Brianna F.

Yelp
Love this newish addition on the Hill. The food, cocktails and service are always on point. It's a great place to buy books and I love some of the other items they sell - especially that they stock Detroit Rose candles. I typically stop in mid-day or afternoon. The few times I've been after 8pm, I'm always surprised at how bright it is inside compared to other local bars and restaurants. Granted, it's a book store so it makes sense! But even the 3rd floor patio has pretty bright lights. It's not my preference, but I certainly understand that some people are looking for brighter bar/cocktail vibes.

Anchovies A.

Yelp
I love this place it's so cozy and amazing the service and the people are always there to help you and the coffee and pastries are amazing too. This is a amazing place for a rainy day to get a report done or read a book. Speaking of books they are literally everywhere and there for you to read.Overall this place really nice and the concept was terrific. Come check this place out!

Jennifer S.

Yelp
This is a true gem. Beautiful building. Wonderful books for sale. Andrew, the bartender, is personable, efficient and knowledgeable. The mushroom leek quiche was decadent and flavorful. The devil eggs were amazing (and I am seriously grossed out by them usually.)

Lisa M.

Yelp
What a great cancept. What a great new addition to Kercheval and Detroit in general. Three floors to choose from to wine, dine and gather, and a well curated collection of books to browse for purchase. The word is out and the place was hopping on a weekday evening for my first but surely not my last visit.

Michele D.

Yelp
This place is extraordinary! It has the ambiance of an elegant English library with the addition of a delicious bistro and bar! They have a wide selection of books and locally sourced book and coffee themed gifts available. The chef changes the menu seasonally, and most ingredients are sourced locally. The neighborhood is charming as well!

Bobbi H.

Yelp
Adorable book store with fantastic coffee shop on Main Street a couple doors down from chamber of commerce. Sit @ coffee bar & watch the barista or get it to go!

Janey B.

Yelp
My friend Betsy told me about this bookstore and I read the review. Immediately, it was on my bucket list. I was in St Claire Shores today for work and realized it was only 20 minutes away. So off I went through horrible construction on Moross, a few detours, I found it in beautiful downtown Grosse Point Farm. I felt like I stuck out like a sore thumb, dressed in scrubs and being a farm girl. I held my head high, went in for an adventure, feeling super guilty Betsy wasn't with me. It is unique. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. There are tables here and there and a bar to the left right when you walk in. There were many well dressed people eating avocado toast, sharing Charcuterie boards while sprawled out on couches. Some on their laptops with their plugs across the floor. Where were the books? BEHIND ALL THESE PEOPLE! I felt like I was intruding on intimate lunches and drinks with friends because you have to go sideways behind them to see the books. Or say excuse me, excuse me to get to the cookbook section that was on the lowest shelf and I sat on the wooden floor to get a good look at the books. Finally, I gave up, grabbed a book on menopause and flipped through it while ear hustling conversations at the different tables. That was awesome! I loved the bathroom. It was beautiful, the toilet paper was individually wrapped in polka dot paper with stickers saying I don't give a crap. No one approached me to see if I needed anything or wanted a cocktail . I did buy a cool cook book, a very unique 5 year one sentence journal and some long matches. It was an adventure all right, I felt like the town collectively gave a sigh of relief when I headed home to the farm.

Katie D.

Yelp
If you love cocktails and reading Flyleaf is for you! I got the Mr. Darcy cocktail and it was bourbon based..strong. we weren't able to get a table because it was pretty busy, but if you have time it is worth the wait. I do wish the cocktail menu was a bit larger and more varied.

Barbara Y.

Yelp
I love the atmosphere of this establishment. It is quite busy at lunch and dinner times, so if you are looking for a book to read I suggest you arrive before the crowd. The food is nice, but I went here mostly for a fun place to meet my friends.

Amanda P.

Yelp
Such a cute cafe! 2 stories of endless books! Food was delicious. I got the spinach salad and my friend got the honey ricotta off the lunch menu. Will definitely be back!

Stephanie S.

Yelp
So perfect and such a unique concept. I have been here twice. First time was crowded on a Saturday morning but I was still able to browse the books and sip a cappuccino. 2nd time was on a Friday morning and was able to grab a table with some friends and drink coffee, then when lunch started at 11am we ordered some food. Everything was perfect! Highly recommend!

Trudence M.

Yelp
This is a must see and eat and read restaurant bookstore, make a trip there you will not be disappointed.

Danielle L.

Yelp
Had the best time here ! Staff is so friendly and helpful. The atmosphere here is so inviting. Loved the downstairs bar and the relaxing nook upstairs. Unfortunately I arrived late and missed the kitchen being open. Definitely will be back !

Tyler D.

Yelp
What a great setting and they have a small plates food menu. I ordered the avocado toast and it was delicious. Great coffee during the day and libations at night.

Eric L.

Yelp
It's an amazing quiet, and upscale experience. If you need a low key vibe, you can order a glass of wine and a really good appetizer, and pick a good book sit by the fireplace, or have a nice date with conversation. This is the best spot for intellectuals in MHO.

Patty G.

Yelp
I wish I could write a more positive review. My daughter and I went to Flyleaf for a much needed night out. We were greeted at the front door by a very nice employee. We sat on the second floor. Our server is the basis of my rating. She wanted to take our food order at the same time as our drink order. We hadn't even looked over the choices. Once served, she never came back to check on us, never refilled our water or asked if we wanted another cocktail. I had to flag her down to ask about desserts and request our bill. Maybe she didn't have to work hard since the 20% gratuity is automatically added to your check. Small plates and cocktails were fantastic, would have had more if we were asked.

Mateja K.

Yelp
Everything was delicious! The ambience is beautiful, and the service is truly second to none: April is a fantastic server! She was efficient and knowledgeable about the menu, as well as very attentive. She always came in to check in at the right times. We will certainly return!

Angela C.

Yelp
Spent a few hours relaxing with a latte and reading a book in this delightfully cozy place. I was taking a seriously needed mid-week mental health day, and couldn't have found a more perfect place to be away from work. The gentleman sitting at the next table was apparently working on his laptop, and perhaps I may do the same one day when I have a day of solo work, and not meeting after meeting. It is a great atmosphere to have to work or relax, and everyone seems very friendly, yet not intrusive. Will be back, for sure. This place is a gem!

Geoff F.

Yelp
Been to Flyleaf on numerous occasions and every time I step in the door I'm blown away by the beauty. Saying this place is unique is an understatement. Head there in the morning for a pastry and coffee and warm up by the fire while you send off the morning emails. Come back for lunch and peruse the impressive selection of books. Looking to grab a cocktail with a friend, this is the place. Food is approachable but elevated for the most discerning palate. My personal favorite, their French Fries with 3 dipping sauces. Simple perfection.

John M.

Yelp
Truly amazing environment. Staff and drinks were great and the mix of coffee shop, bookstore, drinks/food is a brilliant concept. Truly a great addition to the area and I wish I had gone sooner

Del S.

Yelp
Checked the hours this place is supposed to be open today and drove 35-40 minutes from Birmingham with THREE friends to specifically check it out today. Got there and IT WAS CLOSED. NO handwritten or printed note on the door stating so for an emergency or whatever. Talk about crashing & burning as far as first impressions are concerned!

Went in for cocktails last night and books. The hostess was very nice and thought she had a table for us upstairs. So she paraded us up the stairs to the spot and the table was already taken. Then she was going to seat us at another location and that too was taken. We almost left, but as we were exiting a table was available on the ground floor. They take no reservations and their computer system must be out of wack since it showed open tables but people were sitting there in those spots. The patio was closed for service; we were told we could buy our drinks on the lower level and then we take them to the patio. We ordered drinks. One came to the table in the wrong glass for a man. We had to send that one back for another glass. I had hoped to look for a book, but the tables were so close to the bookshelves that I felt uncomfortable asking people to move from the seat as they were eating so I could browse for a book. I would say this is more of a bar than a bookstore. It was beautiful inside, but I think they need to hone the location of the tables and how one even gets a table. Incidentally I was there for a hour and I saw no one buy a book. Perplexing

Yelp
The Experience would be even better if there was an actual place to sit. This establishment is marketed as "cozy up to the fire with a book & perfectly curated coffee," "stop in for curated cocktails & small plates". Stopped in to Flyleaf last weekend. The building is gorgeous, the interiors are five star: herringbone flooring, beautiful furniture, paintings adorn the walls, books nestled in bookcases, fireplaces, staircases, lavish private room. 3 floors. However, there is extremely limited seating and a questionable reservation system. Waited in line for a cocktail at the bar that only has 4 seats. The cocktail menu is limited and they could not make an advertised cocktail called The Outlaw. Ended up ordering the Dr. Jekyll... A tip for the people making the cocktails is to actually shake them before serving, and to include a cocktail napkin... .... Ended up having to stand as there was not any room to sit. Once a table opened up, we sat down where two other people were sitting as I believe the table held up to eight people, on the second floor, and then we were forced to give up our seats because they were seating another party there. Odd. It's a very trendy concept that will do well, especially with a rooftop in summer. As much as I want to go back, I am skeptical. I feel there's room for improvement re: the seating situation. A separate dining area would help. The 4 star rating is for the trendy concept & gorgeous building and interiors.

Yelp
Flyleaf is an upscale establishment that at 5:45PM on a Thursday is definitely more bar than bookstore, with a warm dark wood club room character packed with people. Flyleaf is owned and managed by local ladies who have brought together incredible design, ambiance, creativity and execution to make Flyleaf an instant Grosse Pointe classic. I for one have never been in any watering hole filled with women of all ages dressed in Lily Pulitzer. The specialty cocktails were delicious concoctions, the French fries were glorious, and the spinach salad was fresh. The charcuterie board was nice; however the cheese selection was lacking in taste and variety, neither woke the palette or felt indulgent. Service was attentive, knowledgeable, and a bit stressed. Excusable as Flyleaf is new. BONUS, we found free on street parking right in front too.

Yelp
Loved the ambiance here. We stopped in to pass the time on a Saturday morning while kids were at district band rehearsal nearby. They have a decent selection of books in different genres or you can use the space to study/work during the day. Cocktails at night. We liked the blend of flavours of the food offerings and the helpful staff quick with change for the parking meters. I felt they knew their patrons/clients well.

Yelp
Incredibly friendly and talented staff all around. It's a very pretty building with plenty of room for parties of all sizes. I'll be back again

Yelp
Nice 3-storied bookstore cafe/lounge/bar. Decent coffee. Restrooms on top floor. There's a cozy fireplace. Lots of books. Friendly service. Parking is inconvenient however. The street parking meters are often broken (and you need coins); you may need to park out further in a residential area.
