Chefs reinterpret Midwestern ingredients with wood‑fired small plates and a strong craft‑cocktail list. Lauded by Feast Magazine and locals alike, it’s intimate, inventive, and distinctly Columbia.

I highly recommend the pretzel. It's an $18 pretzel worth trying. I am told the menu changes, so I will definitely be a returning customer to sample what else the chef has to offer. The idea is to order multiple items from the menu and share. Price average is around $20 a dish.

Google
Service was extremely pleasant, prompt, and professional. We ordered the Orecchiette con Salsiccia e Arancia, Char Siu Pork, and Blueberry Thyme cake. The food was phenomenal. We will be back.

Google
Flyover was an incredible stop for dinner! Everything was delicious and the service was top notch! The restaurant has a cool vibe with the kitchen in the main dining area, I must say sitting at the bar here is the way to go. For food, I recommend the Midwestern “Carnitas”. For you gluten free eaters, give the Lookin’ Marvelous Mr. Maui and try (make sure to ask for it gluten free). Both of these dishes were incredible. Expect somewhere around 18-25 per plate, but totally worth it!

Delicious food! Pork with hoisin sauce and cauliflower appetizer were great! Also had a yummy NA cocktail. Staff is really nice. Will be back for sure

Google
We got there and we were directed to the bar. Greeter stated there would be nothing else available for 2 hours. Ample seats were available by the way. We also didn’t need 2 hours to eat but whatever. The bar was fine. The greeter sat us down right beside a couple that was already seated. We wanted to give the couple a little elbow room so decided to leave a seat open between us and them. The greeter proceeded to slide our plates back toward the empty seat as to say “sit where I instructed” we thought maybe he misunderstood that we were trying to give the other couple a little room as the seats were very close to one another. We then asked if we could just slide the empty seat down a tad to give the couple and us some space he stated yes and when we proceeded to move the seat a few inches away the greeter responded “well not that far” granite we love being around people so the seat hadn’t been moved but a few inches. Also keep in mind there were plenty of other open seats open just in case he was worried about other customers coming in and having a place to sit. We felt very unwelcome and before even sitting down we decided to leave. No words no back and forth, we just politely walked back to our car. We shouldn’t de forced to sit right up under one another. Also on the way out one of the staff behind the bar was seen giving us the deuces. Confirmation we were unwanted. The last thing we needed was for those same people to be the ones preparing our food and drinks. We will not be back.

I visited Flyover for the first time today and it became one of my favorite restaurants in Columbia. The food is delicious and the service is impeccable. I’ve never seen a server describe the menu with so much passion. He converted a simple night eating out with friends into a very pleasant culinary experience. I will be coming back for sure.

Google
We had the most excellent dinner and if I might recommend requesting Kerry as your server. She’s the kind of person that you walk away from just feeling uplifted and wanting to be more like her. We sat outside and it was perfect. Save room for dessert, it’s always special.

Google
We have been trying for years to get in here because of their reservation system, it’s been awkward. I had the midwestern carnitas. It was flavorful and unique. My wife had the salmon and it was delish!!! But I was done with my dish by the time hers came out. Other tables that were sat after us got their food before she did. It took an hour and a half in all. The server was nice and was like sorry we must have given your food to someone else. No comp dessert, no manager coming by, just our mistake, your wait. She said we should give them another chance. Meh.

John C.

Yelp
Quality of food is waning. Service not too good. You must sit where you've been assigned, not where you prefer. Almost a Stalinist feel.

Yelp
The tapas at this restaurant are very delicious. The Carnitas is by far my favorite, we ended up ordering two of them. Their drinks are always amazing. Something to notice that they seasonally rotate their menu. They have consistent items on there, but the majority of their stuff are rotating. The pretzels are very soft and the cheese dip is something you'll love!

Yelp
Best restaurant in Columbia. My family has been there dozens of times. Farm to table fresh and delicious. Tim, one of the waiters, makes the experience exceptional.

Yelp
Gonna be my regular stop in Columbia...if I can get in. Love the vibe, the staff and the space. The fried chicken was da bomb the night I was there and it was the last night on the menu.

Yelp
Consistently one of the very best meals in Columbia. The menu changes frequently while maintaining the very best staples, like the pretzel bites which are insanely simple and delicious. If you appreciate quality service, which is so difficult to find, you will definitely be rewarded by going to Flyover. Anything out of the wood-fired oven is simple, yet outstanding and it's small, quaint and always a great choice.

Yelp
This was an absolute surprise and one of the most pleasant dining experiences of my life. My girlfriend and I walked in (I would recommend making a reservation) and they were able to seat us within a few minutes. The atmosphere was cozy and we were close to the other patrons, but we had plenty of room. The decor was very minimalist and the lighting was definitely on the ambient side. Our waitress Carrie was extremely helpful and let us know right away that this restaurant served the food as it was ready and that all of the plates are meant to be shared with the table, think tapas but huge portions. We got boom boom shrimp, fettuccini bolognese, and "bread and butter." Everything was delectable. As a picky eater who has never tried shrimp, I was extremely pleased with how savory and flavorful it was. The same can be said about the other two dishes we ordered. Everything was cooked to perfection. 3 plates was probably a bit too much, but the dessert for the evening looked too good to pass up and it was. Another thing about this restaurant is that they change the menu very frequently so don't expect to get exactly what we got, but you really can't go wrong with anything!

Yelp
This is by far the best place to eat in town. Their menu is ever evolving, which makes your dining experience feel fresh each visit. However, the few staples they do keep are INCREDIBLE. The use of unique ingredients really puts this place over the top. Cocktail menu is also fun and has lots of variety. It's a bit pricier of a meal, but the food and amazing service quickly makes up for it. The ambiance is romantic or casual, whatever suits you! We are regulars here!

Carol G.

Yelp
Love this place! Every time we are in Columbia we dine at Flyover. I love the ever-changing menu and all shareable dishes are amazing. I love the vibe and the wait staff.

Yelp
OK, this place was absolutely amazing. So amazing that I wish they were in STL! The restaurant wasn't huge by any means and by the time we were able to make reservations, the only remaining seats were at the bar. We took it because of the grand reviews and we were not disappointed. We ordered a bottle of wine to share and perused the menu. So the place doesn't have appetizers. You kind of just order good food and share if you would like. Some of them would qualify as starters. The portions are large enough to share. We started with the F.O. larb. It was served with some sticky rice. So delicious. I was honestly worried that I would no longer have room for my main dish which was the catfish. And let me tell you, that catfish dish is divine! Of course, I was unable to finish but I took it back home with me. That's right, it was so good that it made it back home for the 2 hour drive. My sister in law had the short rid and she enjoyed every bite. She also commented about how the larb was so delicious as well. To finish the evening, we ordered one of their fancy coctails. I could not remember the name of our cocktail but it was recommended by the bar tender and was also really good. Well... we might have ended the night with two of them! If you are ever in Colombia, this is a MUST stop.

Yelp
LOVED this food! If you are a picky eat, don't read the descriptions just trust the chef. Everything we had was amazing -great flavors, unique takes on classic dishes and continuous changes to the menu! A cozy dinner spot, great for groups or date night.

Yelp
I ate here alone on a work trip this week and it was amazing! I sat at the bar and the bartender's service was outstanding. He was so welcoming and attentive and helped me make a decision without seeming the least bit annoyed with how many questions I asked. The vibe is casual but definitely nicer than sweats and hoodies. The food and cocktail menu was so different and fun and I wanted to try everything on it. But I went with a glass of Cabernet and the bolognese and they were both amazing. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu.

Yelp
Another great dining option in Columbia. We had a later dinner here, not able to get an earlier reservation and enjoyed some delicious cocktails, appetizers and entrees. Book early. Don't pass on the pretzels, soft and delicious! We also ordered one portion of the mac and cheese to share among five people, and it was just so good, that we had to order another dish along with the entrees. Ultra rich, creamy and bacony! The room is casual and comfortable, and our server was friendly and food came from the kitchen at a nice place. Our server did a good job of coursing our food tapas style so we were able to enjoy everything nice and hot as it arrived. For entrees, we really enjoyed the mojo pork steak, the pork was melt in your mouth tender and delicious. While the Lebanese meatballs were good, they were not among my favorites of the dishes we enjoyed. Check them out, just plan your reservation early enough so you can dine on the day/time you prefer.

Yelp
The Flyover is a great place for great service , delicious food and the drinks at the bar.. wow! This place is so amazing with its decor and music placing in the background. The menu is simple and yummy! You do need a reservation to get a spot, that's how great this restaurant is!

Yelp
After a long wait (with open tables available), we were finally ally seated at a table inside. You cannot hear each other talk and the options are limited. HOWEVER, the food was absolutely delicious. The drinks were alcoholic as expected, not watered down. Our waitress was short and very rude, but I will chalk that off as a bad day. The red headed hostess was an absolute sweetheart.

Stephanie K.

Yelp
Fantastic food and fun, cool vibe. Attentive service - our waiter was knowledgeable and helpful about the menu and wine list. Definitely will visit again.

Yelp
This is one of our go to dinner spots for date night, special occasions, or just a yummy meal. Service has always been amazing, super friendly. The menu is always changing, so always expect something new and different. - Wagyu chicken fried steak (4/5): Very tasty! The steak was a bit more tough than expected. Large serving of mashed potatoes and green beans that tasted fancy! A bit salty overall but so good. - Mac n cheese (4/5): Super cheesy and delicious. Basic dish but done well. Loved the bacon too. - Crispy shrimp salad (4.5/5): One of my favorite salads! Everything paired so well together, from the daikon, to the shrimp, to the peanuts and yummy dressing. Tasted a bit tangy/sour in the best way.

Yelp
This is a spectacularly conceived upscale "midwestern" restaurant serving diverse, local, farm-to-table food innovatively crafted by either a wizard or a phenomenal chef. The perfectly sized menu featured a handful of regular dishes and some 6-8 items appearing new on the menu just this week. Excellent cocktail concoctions. Decent wine and beer options. Servers were attentive, friendly, experienced and knowledgeable. This is some of the best midwestern fare I have ever had since arriving to Missouri 15 years ago. Six of us were dining, including 4 hungry college kids, so we had a number of selections and chose to eat "family style" which is this restaurant's recommended approach. (Love it!). Here is what we drank and ate: - Purple Nurple: (4.7/5) GET THIS. Everyone at the table loved this cocktail. - Strawberry Menta: (4/5) refreshing - Mon Cheri / non-alcohol (4/5): At $4, good option and very tasty. - Soft pretzels (4.8/5): GET THIS!!!! Pretzel bites with Boursin cheese can not get better than this! - Chicken Fried Cauliflower (4.5/5): GET THIS! I am a chimichurri addict and love anything fried. The flavors of this dish were the bomb! - Bread & Butter (4/5): yummy hearty bread with well constructed butter spread. - Catfish (4.8/5): GET THIS!!! Nice sized fillets with a great, well seasoned batter. Loved the remoulade. Best catfish I have had in a long time! - Burrata (4/5): This was very good but was out shown by the other dish. Really fresh! - Duck confit "Buddha bowl" (4/5): I am not sure this dish works well for family style. Terrific ingredients. Very "kale" forward. Love the gastrique! - Lebanese meatballs (4.8/5) GET THIS! So many flavors working together to make a phenomenal dish. - Mojo Pork Steak (4.8/5) GET THIS! I think this was my favorite bite of the night. Pork was extremely tender and had an awesome mojo flavor. The creamy pinto bean purée + fried onion strings + radishes + everything else was "FLAVOR TOWN!" - Cheesecake Brownie (5/5) GET THIS! This was an extremely well rounded dessert hitting all the flavors and textures... sweet, salty, tangy, crunch, creamy... oh man. Wish I had more. Honestly, I think this is the best restaurant in Columbia. Solid 4.8 dining experience.

Yelp
Our first time at Flyover was great experience. Excellent waiter, delicious food, and great ambience. We loved the subtle jazz music. We loved the sourdough bread appetizer. We also thoroughly enjoyed the tuna bowl and the broccoli chicken pasta. We will be back.

Yelp
The food here is pretty damn good, the prices I think are fair for the quality and what you get, I believe that the people complaining about the "small portions" are likely used to the American leftovers culture and ridiculously large portions. This is the amount most are going to Finnish in one sitting. My qualms are not with the staff either, everyone who I spoke to was absolutely lovely and so welcoming. I made a reservation online for 8, for 7:15. When I arrived at 7:15 our table was not ready and we had to wait for another 25ish minutes. The staff was kind and offered us drink menus while waiting, but this is still unacceptable, why even make a reservation? Hopefully this is a rare instance of just bad luck on our part. And when we were sat, our table was outside, without asking us for what our preferences were, so I assume their only large table was outside. It would be much better if we were made aware of that fact while making the reservation. Now this establishment encourages a "midwestern sharing style" which is Awsome in theory, but the way the tables are set up makes this difficult, cramped, and awkward. It's probably much easier when dinning with few, which is another piece of evidence that this establishment is not intended for large groups. We got the desert and it was delicious, again our waitress was the best! I think this restaurant could easily be one of the best in town with a few tweaks in set up.

Yelp
Really cool place to grab drinks and appetizers. Was kind of hoping they also had a dinner menu, but the appetizers & salads we ordered were very delicious, just not very filling. Service was great at the bar despite them being very busy.
google avatar

Jackson D.

Yelp
Got the fettuccine Bolognese and Your Friend Paul Weber's Pizza. I'd say the pizza was more standout but both were pretty good. The pizza was also more unique with a lot of different flavors working together whereas the fettuccine was a little more basic but still enjoyable. Service was reasonable and the ambiance was laid back. They had a patio which was a plus for a nice evening.

Tracey E.

Yelp
Consistently great quality and tasting food, ambience and service. Highly recommend the catfish and espresso martinis!

Caleb M.

Yelp
Food was great, service was an 8/10 and ambience was very nice as well. Found this place searching google and decided to try. Was not disappointed.

Yelp
Outstanding food, professional and pleasant staff. Excellent value. Last three visits have been consistently on point.

Yelp
Our #1 choice in Columbia for date nights! The food always tastes fresh and the rotating menu is such a creative idea! They were very knowledgeable about the ingredients in the dishes, which is important to me since I have food allergies. It was an added bonus that the waitress remembered that I had an allergy when recommending the desert. It is pricey, but well worth it. I recommend making a reservation.

Yelp
We love this place. The food here is super delicious. The wait staff is informal but helpful. Good drinks here too!

Yelp
Amazing selection of food and drinks! I would recommend it highly - sourdough bread appetizer was amazing

Yelp
This is such a gem of a restaurant. Came here while driving cross-country and have to say it was my favorite spot of the whole trip for dinner. Such a fun and engaging atmosphere with unique twists on classic dishes like their Mac 'n Cheese that leave you thinking about it for days afterwards.

Rafa H.

Yelp
The food at Flyover is always great! I really like the cocktail menu as well. The bartenders are very good.

Yelp
We had such a lovely dinner here! It's definitely a hidden gem in Columbia and one that I recommend you go to for a nice and delicious dinner. We tried a variety of items including Fettuccine Bolognese, Midwestern Mac & Cheese and them something that had hummus in it and another soft and creamy pasta that I can't seem to find on the menu to get their names. In any case, it was all great. The only strange thing is that they had no to-go cups for coffee. Not a big deal but that just seems like something you should maybe have! They sent us home with a tupperware of coffee which was hilarious. Very good! Go!

Yelp
Having eaten here several times while in CoMo with a friend, I have really grown to love this little place. Fantastic food, varied and creative drinks, good service and prices in line with what you get. LOVE the Mac & Cheese and the pretzel appetizer and looking forward to returning again soon.

Yelp
Reservations are done with ease on their website and they are required. Service was excellent. Excellent, talented bartenders. All food was done well Party of 6 was all very happy. Least fave meal was fish n chips...just so-so. All others were excellent, at least loved by one person in our party.

Bob N.

Yelp
Only one bizarre complaint... Flyover's food is consistently wonderful! Sitting at the bar is always enjoyable although our bartender, while efficient, was not as friendly or engaging as we've experienced with others on past visits. The bizarre complaint was due to something we've never experienced anywhere ever before - we were charged $4 for ice!!!!!!! The bartender asked if I wanted small or large ice for my two manhattans, to which I responded "large". Apparently that request triggered a $2 per cube charge! Why would the owners of such a great neighborhood spot feel the need to risk customer dissatisfaction over adding such a ridiculous charge? Bizarre!

Yelp
My sister and her husband are obsessed with this place, and I can see why! With COVID, they didn't want to eat out, so we ordered to go. We got a couple different things - the chicken friend cauliflower was OMG. I COULD EAT IT EVERY DAY. The cheese dip with pretzels was also the bomb, super flavorful. We also got the Mac n cheese which was unique and SO delicious. They love to come here for drinks to, so I will definitely have to come back for those once COVID dies down. What a great spot for the area!

Haleigh B.

Yelp
A must stop if you're in Columbia. They have staples on their menu that are always a hit, and they mix up the bottom half of the menu with more seasonal items. Always trying something new here! Can't skip the dessert either, it is always so delicious!

Libby C.

Yelp
Such creative cuisine and everything was wonderful! The cauliflower dish was excellent and the service was excellent!

Yelp
Showed up without a reservation but got lucky and someone has skipped theirs. Great food! Great service! We split a couple of dishes and had drinks. Not sure that the kids would enjoy it. Perfect for date night but too nice for kids. Be careful on the spicy drinks! They aren't kidding! Would love to go again.
google avatar

Shanna S.

Yelp
Really cool place. Trendy vibe. The bartender/server at the bar was fantastic. Super attentive and the drinks were phenomenal. The food is off the beaten path, but very good. Small dishes so got 3 to share. Chicken fried cauliflower, arancini, and the heirloom tomatoes. Very pretty to look at and good flavor. The arancini was certainly my least favorite. The outside was in my opinion a bit dark so there wasn't a whole lot of flavor to taste. The acoustics aren't great inside. If you are with someone hard of hearing it's not a good fit. Otherwise I enjoyed the dinner and drinks!
google avatar

Leon J.

Yelp
Came here with some friends bc I saw they had an outdoor patio. None of the pictures I saw online does the patio justice though! It's a charming, well-decorated patio with string lights. Lively scene too. For food, we ordered the lamb meatball dish, a Greek-styled chicken and potatoes dish (forget name), and both of the pizzas. Idk how I slipped up this bad but I only got a picture of one pizza. ALL four dishes were great though and I'd have each one again. I got a Negroni in honor of emma d'arcy, rightful ruler of the seven kingdoms, and that was nice as well. Moscow Mule was eh. Overall, a lovely place for dinner with friends or date.
google avatar

Jessie A.

Yelp
The food is great! My son goes to Mizzou and every time we visit he asks us to take him to Flyover.

Heather M.

Yelp
Excellent food. One of my faves in COMO. Nice atmosphere. Worth the price, takes reservations.

Karen R.

Yelp
I really wish I could remember exactly what I got that night, just remember the overall experience was amazing.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner at Flyover. When we arrived the wait time was over an hour, I wasn't sure if we should try to get seated. I'm so glad we stayed. I started off with a nice bourbon cocktail, it was smoky and savory and sweet. Topped off with a luxardo cherry, the perfect garnish. We ordered the pot roast, midwest carnitas, chicken fried cauliflower, fried catfish and poutine. The layers of flavors were so intense and complimentary. I could literally eat here everyday and never tire of the menu. We were so stuffed that we didn't have room for dessert. But on my next visit I'll definitely save room for dessert.

E B.

Yelp
Great food and great service. Tasty cocktails as well. Highly recommend. Mac and cheese was my daughter's favorite of all time.
