"Although Foam Brewers has only been around since 2016, cofounder Todd Haire, formerly the head brewer at Magic Hat, has been in the game for much longer. At Foam, Haire and the team work with local ingredients to turn out an ever-changing, and ever-creative, line of beers that earned it a spot on RateBeer’s list of the top 10 new breweries of 2017." - Jessie Beck

We had a fantastic time at Foam Brewers. The food was delicious - the oysters, cheese and charcuterie platter, and of course, the beer, were all amazing. What surprised us was how family-friendly it was. Located in a beautiful old building near the Lake Champlain waterfront, it's a memorable spot for tourists.

Word on the street was that this is an awesome brewery. So, no surprise, it is. First off, lots of parking on a Friday night, which is rare in downtown Burlington. The place was packed with a live brass band playing, yet I found a counter stool. The whole time I was there, people came and went and there was always an open seat or two somewhere. However, I’m told this can be rare in weekends, so beware! The staff is attentive and engaged. Multiple people checked in on my happiness without EVER being aggressive. I got valuable local advice on a the best Burlington restaurants for a 40th anniversary dinner (now Landon and Una know who is writing this). As for the beer: it is mighty fine. I tried the coffee porter, the lager — which eliminated the trauma of a honey larger I’d foolishly tried in a different place in a different state — and the pilsner. And, I went home with a 4-pack of double IPA because I’m driving. Besides hunger, that also why I consumed a plate of “processed meat” — it has a French sounding name I can’t spell — that turned out to be much more than advertised. I also got the Gorp because, well, three beers. Anyway, long story short: you should go. I can’t imagine you won’t have an awesome time.

Google
Nice brewery with the view of the Lake Champlain. They had great selections of various IPAs!! Each had very unique flavor, which was great. i tried most of their DIPAs on tab. Ended up taking 4 packs of their IPA(drops) home.

Google
Foam brewing was a really fun experience. I had 2 8oz pours and grabbed a 4 pack to go. I had a 4% beer called baby no more or "baby" something, and it was really great. What a great stop after a beautiful walk. The staff were friendly and attentive and I would def come back next vacation

Google
One of the best micro breweries I've ever been to (and I've been to MANY). Employees are amazing and knowledgeable, beer is to die for, little snacks are great too and it is affordable. Outside terrace is also INCREDIBLE with a prized view of the lake. Do yourself a favor if you're in the area just go indulge yourself

Google
Great spot. Live music. Food trucks. Great brews. Friendly atmosphere. Right by the waterfront.

Google
4.5! Really great brewery. Beautiful front patio which was full, but they offered us seating in the back which was less vibey but nice and quiet. Big selection of beers-and they’re happy to let you sample before ordering. Also, great menu for accompaniments if you’re hungry! There was also a stage for music, but no one playing when we were there. They were accommodating of allergies and willing to check the labels of their snacks.

My wife isn’t a beer drinker, but the DIPA they have here is probably one of the only ones she’ll have. Nice quaint brewery, nice staff and ample space to share an evening with friends. Would recommend.

Yelp
I spent a week in Burlington, Vermont for a work conference and was lucky enough to visit some craft breweries while there. The very first of all was probably one of the best, Foam Brewers. Foam Brewers is a well-regarded craft brewery located in Burlington, Vermont. Founded in 2016 by an experienced team with diverse backgrounds in brewing, culinary arts, and hospitality, the brewery quickly gained a reputation for producing high-quality, innovative beers. Their IPAs are top notch, and you can't beat the location right on Lake Champlain. I tried a few different beers throughout my week in the city. Second Hand Coffins: A Triple IPA they brewed in collaboration with Widowmaker. Heavy oats used in the malt bill to give a nice chewy mouthfeel. I get notes of Dole Whip, mango, and fruit jerky. Red Panda: A Red Flanders Inspired Sour beer that is so good I had to order it twice. Served in a beautiful Teku glass that allowed the ruby red beer to shine. Bright acidity with a funky cherry flavor on the backend with some slight sugar notes. Melted Rope: A Hazy Double IPA that is as true of a hazy IPA as you can get. Huge notes of tropical fruit like passionfruit and guava. Some minor notes of dank resin as well. ____________-

Yelp
Got some beers from yet another brewery in Burlington. It has a pretty cool location next to the lake. Foam Brewers is one of the hipper looking places around. Has quite a few beers to get. The food is good stuff. Best thing other than the beers is the location to be honest. It's real close to the lake, making it a good stop after walking along it. The outside of this place looks kind of nondescript, but on the inside there's plenty of room though. Beers are the main things to get. Pretty good variety. It's about $6 a pint. The best one of these we had was the Feel It Still. Could be the first time trying a rice lager. This was a pretty light one, and has an herbal and lemony taste. As for the food, pretty okay. It's $9 for the Black Bean Salsa. This is seasoned with cilantro, lime, onions, roasted garlic, and tomatoes. For sure it's a must stop for anyone wanting local beers. It's away from the crowds downtown, but it still gets plenty to come though. There's a lot of beers to choose from, and even the food is good if wanting some things to snack on or whatever.

Sabrina P.

Yelp
Fun outdoor patio space and really cool merchandise selection. I was hoping for there to be non-alcoholic beer selections available but still enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff was friendly.

Katie N.

Yelp
Tasty beer! Overall, the ambiance was really cute. I like that you can order half pours. I liked the bar tops. Good view of the waterfront. They lost one star for the music. I'm not sure if the band was warming up, but they were kinda all over the place.

Andrew H.

Yelp
I love the diversity of beers here! Most of the IPAs are New England IPAs but...this is New England, so that's wicked redundant! What really impressed me were the two Japanese-style rice lagers on tap, great stuff! I also enjoyed the ordering setup. This is one of those rare breweries that is actually properly staffed. There were multiple check-out stations with multiple beer-tenders. This meant there was almost never a line, simply magical! They also had many brewery staples: food truck outside, dog-friendly outdoor area, and live music. Give 'em a shot if you're in Burlington!

Sue B.

Yelp
Great beer, great vibes! Locals and former visitors alike always recommend Foam! Great location! For this visit, I came at the end of the night and bartenders were super kind and non-judgmental as I watched playoff baseball on my phone. I had a delicious sour, Marcona almonds, and got a 4-pack to go. The sours always rock!

Natalie D.

Yelp
Came here on recommendation of a bartender at a nearby bar. The patio outside is nice, and the decor/setup inside is cool too; however, it honestly smelled like feet when we walked in. Their beer selection is almost exclusively IPAs, with a sour, a lager, a red ale (which was basically another sour), and a seltzer. Probably a great place to go if you love IPAs, but not a lot of selection otherwise. The sour was pretty good, and the red ale was alright- definitely had a unique flavor, but not what we expected out of an ale.

Jim R.

Yelp
On our annual pilgrimage up to VT on the motorcyles, we usually look for a new brewery to try. We decided on Foam Brewers this year. Located in an old brick building on the water in Burlington, it is what would expect when looking for hip brewery. I'm a New England hazy citra hop IPA snob and Foam had several to choose from. I was very happy with my selection. The rest of my crew are lager and pilsner drinkers and were able to find something to keep them happy. We ordered a charcuterie board that had three cheeses (soft, hard, and funky), hard meats, nuts, and pickled items with French bread slices. Very tasty. We sat outside on the patio and had a great view of Lake Champlain. The location is a little off the beaten path, but definitely walking distance from the center of town and worth the exploration.

Shaji K.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday afternoon for a respite from the rain. Sprawling location with indoor/outdoor seating, a large parking lot, and an easy walk to the waterfront nearby. Some food is available here, but decided to just stick with drinks. Chose the "Vapors of Morphine" IPA ($8) - a strong imperial with a hazy pour and orange peel flavor. Easy to sip on as we got a seat at one of the ledge stools. To the side they have some merchandise for sale and the place is seemingly pup friendly. Didn't stay long but it was a nice space to relax for a bit. Good for groups who want to have some beer and snacks.

Amit M.

Yelp
Only came here for the beer, did not get a chance to try the food. I tried a few IPAs (regular DIPA) and all were great. Place itself is a great place to hang out and chill

Jacky C.

Yelp
Stopped by with a group of friends looking for things to do in Burlington. They unfortunately do not do flights, so we got whichever eight beer was on tap for the season. They only had sour beer available, which was a bit disappointing as I favor stouts. I tried the Experimental Jet Set. Wasn't too big a fan of it. My second drink I got the Monument Eyes, which I liked better. They had a live band playing while we all were hanging out trying out the beers on tap.

Jamie L.

Yelp
Randomly visited on a Friday night. They were having live music, which was an unexpected surprise. It was a good group of people. It wasn't too loud, but definitely more college students than anything. I tried a few of the beers but the IPAs were too hoppy. I was afraid to try anything else. They offer snacks and the charcuterie board looked pretty good. It used baguettes from a local bakery August First, which are amazing. I'm not sure I would come back, but it was nice to visit.

Josh W.

Yelp
Incredible spot. SUPER beers. If you are on untappd these ratings speak for themselves. Over 5 beers above a 4.2 is legit insane. The vibe and ambience is also great! Really nice staff and lots of indoor and outdoor seating with LIVE music. Not tons of food for a full meal but the charcuterie boards looked fantastic too. Bring a board game and stay for a few hours

Ruth D.

Yelp
I think this is the first brewery my husband had taken me to that I actually enjoyed the experience. I can't drink beer because I'm allergic, so I always appreciate when a brewery has something more to offer. Foam has SO much more! I tried Sap soda for the first time, which was delightful like a cream soda and I was able to get a mixed drink for the hot day. There was also good food truck food and live music. If more places copied Foam, I'll have to stop groaning every time my husband says he needs to visit another brewery. Oh, and my husband liked the beers and atmosphere too.

Kelly H.

Yelp
One of our first stops on our world wind beer tour. Great outside area for warmer days, live music by Steve Hartmann who was fabulous. Lots of seating inside on the brewery side, including a small area of swag to buy. They did let us taste the beers for free, and I chose the Leopold as an 8 oz pour to buy. We sat and enjoyed the music as I enjoyed the beer. They have another side to the place, which is their restaurant, but it wasn't open when we were there, so may be a reason to go back!

SAnne H.

Yelp
Great location, wonderful ambiance and excellent beers! They had food options if you're hungry. Sign says service dogs only are allowed. Saw kids hanging out too. Place was happening with a nice happy crowd. Service could use a little tightening up, but they were nice.

Alden C.

Yelp
Foam Brewers was a brewery in which we had the opportunity to try a beer from. It proved to be a good experience on that beer hence a five star score. We could easily have it again! She Doesn't Need You! was the beer we had. A Hazy New England IPA was the type of beer it was. Dank along with pineapple and pear notes this beer proved to be an excellent one with it's unique flavor profile along with a very even balance that made this particular beer so very impressive!

Alexandra M.

Yelp
Tried a few different beers, none were my thing, but the onion dip and chips were great.

Amaury J.

Yelp
Great pours? Check! Outside patio? Check! Great vibes? Check! Variety of beers? Check! Cocktails for those non-beer drinkers? Check! Finding Foam Brewers while walking around was a nice surprise. Unbeknownst to us, we walked in during their 6th (I hope I got this right) anniversary celebration and it was so much fun! The beers were really, really good. I recommend their double and triple IPAs. My favorite thing about Foam Brewers was the space! What a spacious venue they have. They offer outdoor seating in both the front and the back of the brewery, indoor seating with high tops, bar service, etc. We just felt at home.

Kat B.

Yelp
Service was great; live music on the night we went; though the music was too loud inside, patio had a perfect atmosphere. My only complaints: menu didn't have a lot of options that were friendly to food allergies; someone told us there was a "lake view" but there's only a tiny sliver of the lake visible no matter where you sit. Would absolutely return.

S D.

Yelp
Great beer, great service 90% of the time. We did go around 9:30 on a saturday night for a beer or 2 and they wanted a $5.00 cover charge to go in for a beer. We said we would just stay outside, we came to the BREWERY for beer...NOT A LOCAL JAM BAND. since we were probably only going to have 1 beer... we couldnt justify paying an additional $5 for a beer due to the cover, so we left. if management ever reads this... if you want to have a music venue... do so. if you want to pay a band to come to your brewery... do so. But dont force people that want and pay TOP $$ for your product to support your music options.

Sarah B.

Yelp
What a beautiful day when I arrived! This place has plenty of seating and super cute to hang for a drink and a quick bite! I say come with your dog and sit outside!

Ryan F.

Yelp
Stopped at Foam Brewers on Saturday afternoon. Had a few beers before it became too packed to be enjoyable. It was impossible to even stand up without someone reaching for your chair. The beers seemed fine, but none to run out to try. Quality: Tried three beers during our visit. First was the House of Fermentology: Royals, a pick from my wife, which was far too sour for me. It is a beer that hits you right in the heart. I thought The Shining double IPA was good, though it was less fruity than labeled. My highlight was definitely Spelled In Bones imperial stout. Appreciated just a touch of heat to smooth out the sweeter elements. Quantity: Pour sizes clearly labeled on the menu. Value: $6-$8.50 for a Draft Beer. Ambiance: Foam Brewers is located near the waterfront in Burlington. It immediately stands out with its crowd of people in a relatively quiet area. They have two outdoor spaces, the more designed one in the front, and then thrown together tables under a tent in the back. Inside the space is a little awkward, with assorted high-tops and stools thrown in where they fit. I could imagine challenges for seating when the temperature drops. On this day they had a DJ, but they also seem to rotate live bands as well. Crowd: No seats inside or out just a few hours after it opened. Many large groups of college kids. Service: It got too busy for the staff to keep up, the line stretched out the door. Parking: Large shared parking lot.

Madeline A.

Yelp
Disappointed with their service/rules. We never actually ate/drank there since we showed up at 3pm on a random Wednesday and were told they didn't have any availability to seat our party of 5, both inside or outside. There were multiple tables visibly available but we were told they didn't have enough servers so they couldn't seat us. The two servers both told us that we needed to make a reservation. I had logged on to their Resy reservation site an hour before we arrived and saw they had a ton of availability so I opted not to make a reservation thinking we didn't need one! Well, I was wrong! So make a reservation if you're looking to go!

Abby K.

Yelp
Was in Burlington for a conference and had some time to kill before I had to head to the airport. Some one suggested foam brewers so I decided to give it a try. It was early afternoon on a Thursday so it was pretty empty. I safe at the bar and the bar tender was really friendly. I got one of their sours and it was really good! The location was nice since it was close to the lake. There was a food truck setting up while I was leaving and their patio seemed really cute. I would definitely recommend this brewery!

Adrienne U.

Yelp
This beer was really good but was over shadowed by the attitude of the people that work here. It was recommended by several other breweries to visit Foam so we looked forward to the visit. We walked in the front door where there were maybe 5 other customers seated. I could see that 3 employees lifted their heads from behind the bar when the door opened but none could be bothered to even say hello. This is such a shit thing to do to customers. Acknowledging goes a long way but ignoring says you're too good to be bothered. When we stepped up to the bar, no hello - nothing. I said hello and ordered and honestly was ready to leave at that point. If you don't like people - get a new job. It wasn't one employee either having a "bad day" it was 3 of them. Be welcoming and earn that expected tip that comes up on your ipad. All you did was pull a handle and fill a glass.

Josh M.

Yelp
Foam was definitely a must stop! Great beers on top and a super chill atmosphere! Had great fast service as well! Would highly recommend!

Charmaine D.

Yelp
This place was named one of the top places to visit while in Burlington so I wanted to check it out. I've never heard of Foam Beers so I asked the bartender for a recommendation of a light beer. He had such a nice smile that I agreed to whatever he said. The beer was just eh. They didn't have much of a food menu and the live music was not my taste so we headed out. The place is huge and they had outdoor seating both inside and out. I can see this as a nice gathering place for a bunch of people. However, $8 for one beer is a little too pricey for me.

Gauravi P.

Yelp
This brewery was phenomenal. They had safe Covid checks at the front door. You needed to make reservations in advance. Once seated, we were asked to order: 1.) Vegan Poutine (4 stars) - the mushrooms were the star of the show 2.) Farmer's salad (4 stars) - the veggies were crisp and fresh and a nice contrast to the fried appetizer we ordered :) 3.) We ordered cider and a few stouts. All their drinks were creative, delicious and flavorful. The pours were generous too!! I would 100% come back here again. The ambiance was great and the staff were super helpful and friendly. It almost felt like were in normal times once again.

Rei M.

Yelp
I'd been wanting to visit Foam for a long time and I'm happy I finally got the opportunity while my girlfriend and I were in Burlington. Stopped by on a Saturday midday. Weather was beautiful, so the outdoor patio was almost full, but we luckily got two hightop seats. Drinks are served both indoor and outdoor, but be aware that the menus are different! It looked like the online draft menu reflected only the indoor menu. There were additional options outside but they also did not have beers that were available inside, so if you're looking for something specific, it's worth looking at both. We went with the Experimental Jet Setter IPA, The Shining DIPA, and Pavement IPA. All were great. Bartender was really nice when told him this was our first visit and we asked if we could try some before committing. Great beers, nice indoor and outdoor seating, friendly staff. Looks like they have some good food/snack options but we didn't get any. Only wish they had flights or at least flight-sized pours, but otherwise no complaints!

Clea E.

Yelp
Clancy is the absolute BEST!!! She helped pumped me up (insulin pump was out of charge and she went above and beyond to find a charger). Holy * service is incredible, drinks are insane, food is phenominal, what else could I ask for. What an amazing experience!! Thank you foam crew P.s one thorn if i have to list one... is that the man with the snake was freaky

John L.

Yelp
They have really great beer and the staff was excellent. Much better vibe and better beers than Burlington beer co

Rebeka M.

Yelp
We came here for an afternoon beer with our 2 dogs. They have a really nice patio that will allow dogs. It's really peaceful and just a super pleasant place to get a drink and relax. We got Make This Magic and When the Wind Forgets Your Name - both were really tasty and not too hoppy. They had a lot of variety of beer and it appears that they have rotating taps. I would definitely recommend coming here for a drink and hanging out.

Russell W.

Yelp
Cool place with some good beer, and a pretty nice location. The venue is a bit college student oriented for my taste, with a funky bar and neon lighting, Inside really felt more like a bar than a brewery. They have some like that here as well, and that's fine, but it wasn't what I expected for a brewery vibe, and had me a little thrown off. All that said, the service was good, the beer was good, and it wasn't overly loud despite it being quite crowded. Be sure to check out the shore walk before or after. We started from the shore, but snuck out the back on the way out and took a shortcut dirt path back up the hill to the hotel. It was dark and not ideal if you don't have grippy shoes, but it seemed like it saved a good chunk of time.

Ben S.

Yelp
They don't do flights, but I still enjoyed this place. There is a backyard patio with plenty of shade as well as a really cute front patio. The inside was spacious and always pretty empty when I was there. You can order and pay from table QR codes and someone will bring you your drink. There was a food truck at the entrance. Great spot close to the waterfront. Definitely a place for repeat visits.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
I go whenever I visit my child at UVM. The staff is so helpful and attentive. We really have a great time and spend too much money. It's always a fun night.

Rachel E.

Yelp
Amazing brewery! Right close to the Burlington River, great atmosphere and live music. Cheeseboard was delicious. Beer selection is small but they have great beers, the brewery is beautiful itself and has a nice patio outside. I definitely enjoyed drinking beer and snacking on cheeseboard watching the sunset.

Alexa S.

Yelp
Great vibe, nice seating options, but all the beers are " hoppy", hubby had the Make this Magic lager which was still very hoppy. So if your into hops then this is the place for you!!

Joe G.

Yelp
Great beer! Cool spot down by the waterfront. Always poppin on the weekends. Usually live music. Fairly priced. Highly recommend. Most locals would recommend foam for sure!

Roger H.

Yelp
Specializes in Vermont style IPAs and sours. All of which were worthy of high ratings (which I gave on Untappd). Was referred to my by a national group of beer nerds as a sleeper "best of" among the triad of Alchemist, Lawsons and Hill Farmstead. Food is great. Fries especially!!! Hint: so close to the bike trail. Just roll up from the Causeway south and have some of the best beer in New England.

Matt R.

Yelp
Centrally location makes this a convenient spot to duck into for a high quality brew. Lots of indoor and out door seating. Top of the line beer although please note food selection is sparse. Just snacks and cheeseboard a. They may be affiliated with a restaurant next door but it's not open all hours such as the odd time between dinner and lunch ~2:30pm-ish. Excellent spot to check out.

Mary K.

Yelp
My husband and I visited Foam Brewers last Wednesday (10/14) and really enjoyed it. Our visit coincided with the Champlain Valley Hops (CVH) release so we tried the Revue Crystal (still hoppy) and the Nugget (more fruity/smoother). We also tried the Safe Minds Lager and Lake Hopper Cider which was a nice change for ciders because it wasn't as sweet as a typical cider. There was plenty of parking, and we were able to catch sunset off the lake. Definitely recommend this place. COVID - Be sure to make a reservation on Resy. We watched several walk ups without reservations get turned away which was unfortunate for them! Staff were wearing masks the entire time and seats were socially distanced; we felt very safe here.

Anthony I.

Yelp
Awesome beer selection, with some really creative brews. Nice snack offerings, friendly staff, ample parking, great view. Dog friendly. Heaven.

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Beers tasted really good, had this one double IPA that tasted like a mimosa. Came here on a Friday afternoon and they told us it was a 45 minute wait.... We ended up getting the beers to go which was unfortunate because it looked really cute inside. The host was kinda rude but the bartender was so helpful and nice.

Tracey B.

Yelp
We love this brewery because they have amazing beers and a gorgeous venue. Live music is a great addition to the atmosphere as well. The only slight downside is that the place is always so busy. We like to chat with the staff and learn more about the beers, but here they just don't have time for that.

Brett F.

Yelp
Good NEIPA's. Right on the lake. Good place for lunch with cheese and meat charcuterie boards. Lots of merch as well. Cool concept with tanks and brewing process surrounding you. Brewers were working around you.

Kevin K.

Yelp
They had live music free parking and a food truck out front. Live music was great last night and the service was better than pre-COVID. The place was spotless and the staff was interested in serving. Easy to read menu options if some really cool beers. I was really impressed and that doesn't happen often. Great night with wife and another couple. Really a great experience. Band was incredible didn't note their name though. :(

ella p.

Yelp
Foam is one of my favorite places to frequent in Burlington, and a 69 degree afternoon is the perfect time to go. What sucks is that the service is shit. The "bartenders" are really rude. Two separate beer pourers were extremely short and unwelcoming, making the usually fun and lighthearted experience turn sour. They didn't even know how to answer questions about the beer that they are serving. Overall, I still love it here, but maybe train your servers to be more friendly. and you can't smoke cigarettes outside. This is America.

Genevieve C.

Yelp
My first day in Burlington, this was my second stop. It's like home because I go whenever my family visits. It is not student budget friendly because it's all so good but I still love it. As a Nola native, it's a little piece of home. It is annoying that I always love the seasonals. But can I really punish them for that.

Hannah W.

Yelp
We are from out of the area and stopped by at the end of June. Unfortunately, we were unable to sit outside, they were booked! Reservations are a must. Luckily, we were able to sit inside. There were only a handful of tables inside, so we felt comfortable - very well socially distanced! We didn't eat, so my review is solely based on their beer. I had three beers and they were all outstanding. My husband also had three (different styles) and equally enjoyed his selections.
