Fogo de Chão

"Fogo de Chão (literally "fire on the ground") is the name and symbol of this famous barbecue-style restaurant (rodízio), a reference to the origins of churrasco, when gauchos learnt that cooking cuts of beef on wooden spits around a fire on the ground transformed a simple piece of meat into a delicacy. The animal, the cut and the skill of the roasting chef are the three key elements in preparing a good churrasco. At Fogo de Chão, Angus is the beef of choice, the chefs are hugely experienced and the service just perfect." - Michelin Inspector

We had a lovely dinner at Fogo de Chão in São Paulo. Our reservation was honored promptly, and we were welcomed with smiles and courteous service from the team. The space itself was warm and inviting, setting the tone for a memorable meal. We started with a few refreshing caipirinhas, then made our way to the buffet—which was excellent. Crisp salads, smoked salmon, cheeses, fresh fruits, and even a smoked pork belly station made for a strong start. Once we flipped our coasters to green, the feast began. The various cuts of beef were superb—tender, juicy, and full of flavor. I skipped the poultry and sausages to save room for the star of the show: the beef, which did not disappoint. We ended the meal by sharing a classic crème brûlée—smooth, rich, and perfectly caramelized on top. I’ve also dined at their Miami location, and São Paulo held its own—both in flavor and hospitality. A must-visit for meat lovers exploring Brazil. Documented by Postcards and Coordinates (on Instagram).

All good. Except the food. The bar salad was stinky, as if some food was spoiled food. The meat was never cooked to perfection. It was either too burnt or too raw. You know it's not a good place when the food makes you sick. I had to take baking soda afterward to get better. On top of that, was really expensive. And they were charging an extra soda (which by the way I ordered coke first and they just brought me whatever they wanted)

Fogo de Chão Jardins truly embodies the spirit of a Brazilian churrascaria while offering a refined, upscale atmosphere perfect for any occasion. Located in one of São Paulo's most chic neighborhoods, it's a fantastic spot whether you're there for a business lunch, a special celebration, or simply to indulge in some incredible meat. The ambiance at Fogo de Chão Jardins is sophisticated yet welcoming. The restaurant is spacious and well-appointed, with a lively energy that still allows for comfortable conversation. They even have a "Next Level Lounge" for cigar enthusiasts, which adds a unique touch. Of course, the star of the show is the meat. The constant parade of expertly grilled cuts, from picanha to filet mignon, is consistently flavorful and cooked to perfection. The gaucho chefs are attentive, offering a variety of options and preparing each slice tableside with skill. Beyond the traditional rodízio, they also feature premium dry-aged options for those looking for something extra special. What truly elevates the experience is the Market Table. It's far more than just a salad bar; it's a gourmet spread featuring an impressive selection of fresh salads, artisanal cheeses, cured meats, smoked salmon, and traditional Brazilian side dishes like pão de queijo. It's easy to fill up here alone, but save room for the main event! The service is impeccable. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient, ensuring your glass is always full and your plate never empty. They anticipate your needs without being intrusive, contributing to a seamless and enjoyable meal. While Fogo de Chão is a well-known chain, the Jardins location maintains a high standard, offering a memorable dining experience that combines excellent food, refined ambiance, and top-tier service. It's definitely a splurge, but for the quality and quantity, it feels well worth it. If you're in São Paulo and craving an authentic, high-end churrascaria, Fogo de Chão Jardins is a fantastic choice.

Very disappointed of this branch. I came here on Sunday night. They take 25mins to bring you a Caipirinha with the excuse that they have to prepare a lot of Caipirinhas. The buffet was very poor and limited options. The service was unfriendly and rude specially from the manager. I will not recommend this branch at all. Terrible experience.

Someone local recommended this and I was not familiar with the restaurant even though it has locations in the US. In fact they have a sign of all the places where they're located by the bathroom and there's one 30 minutes from my house. I'll definitely be taking my husband there as he loves meat! LOL The inside and outside were quite a spectacular environment. I loved how we sat next to a wall of green trees that may have connected to the outside. It was behind glass and very elegant. The whole place felt quite upscale although for the amount of food we got, it was quite affordable... Especially factoring in the US dollar exchange rate. Of course, the meat was plentiful, delicious, well seasoned, and always available. The fresh bar was also amazing. I loved everything I tried with no exceptions. My friends got cocktails which they really enjoyed. I stuck with flat bottled water. We decided to get three desserts so we could all try all three. We easily agreed on our three selections and we each had a favorite by the end of our tasting. I loved the lava cake which was funny to me because it's so traditional in America and I was up for trying more local selections. One of my friends loved the tres leches the Best. And my other friend loved creme with papaya liqueur the best. We wanted a quick bite after dinner because we were tired and I had an early flight the next morning. We chose the restaurant for traditional Brazilian barbecue experience before we left town. We ended up staying for 3 hours and leaving happy. Now to the bathroom🚻 I was first going to use the handicap stall as it was accessible and I knew it would be large enough to accommodate me. But I could not get the door locked which was inconvenient because I was by myself. So no one to guard the door. I went into the main women's room which was lovely. Beautiful plants, clean, luxurious. The stalls were comparable to the rest of the bathroom, although there were no larger sized stalls due to the separate handicapped bathroom. I had to throw my paper towel away by the sink so there was nothing to protect my hand when I opened the door to leave. Pee or pass? Definitely pee. And an honorary category... Meat or not meat? Definitely meat. Follow me for places I've been and places I've gone 🤭. I'll tell you if it's a pee or pass.

Overrated and Underwhelming Fogo de Chão is an international chain, and from my experience, its best restaurants are located outside Brazil, or at least outside São Paulo. Unfortunately, this location relies heavily on its brand reputation rather than quality. The meat is average at best, the service is quite poor, and the prices match those you'd expect in the U.S. For less cost, you'll find plenty of nearby restaurants offering higher quality, superior service, and a more authentic experience. I recommend trying somewhere else in the area.

It’s the best for a reason. Largest salad bar you’ve seen, cuts you’ve never heard of. And service as good as it gets. Been to 5 branches in 4 countries, it never disappoints!

Worst Fogo De Chao that I have ever been. I have been to many around the world and the worst with no difference - this one. Service was terrible and they still made me tip them $36. They never explained how it worked, show the menu or anything. They did not speak English which to a point is cute and exotic but for this “luxury” place is kind of insulting that they don’t. The meat would not stop even with the green sign. I had to call them. I finished my drink and they never offered more. Meat was disappointing as well! As you can see on the pictures, VERY DRY! It was hard to chew and some was hard to swallow. That is why I needed sauce to cover its poor and over salted flavor. Halfway through my meal thry brought the sauces which they forgot. I had to spit out some of the pieces of how gross they were. I have been to many others where the meat quality is spectacular and the service makes you want to go back. This time, all I want is to open a dispute on my credit card and make myself throw up all the terrible meat that I had. Seriously disappointing! The dessert was supposed to be warm chocolate and it was cold, tasted of microwave and served in a very poor way. Airplane economy class food has nicer presentation and it’s warmer. The only good thing is that I had WiFi. I can’t express enough of my true disappointment for this place because it did not stand to it’s name.
