The 17 Best Restaurants & Hotels In Carmel

"If you keep opening Google Flights and looking up flights to Europe between meetings, Folktale is an alternative that will almost scratch that itch. This winery set amidst vineyard-covered hills looks like a European castle, turrets and all, and an afternoon spent wine tasting on the patio will have you feeling a world away. But Folktale isn’t just good looks and delicious wines—the food here is excellent. Pick from options like cheese and charcuterie boards to snack on alongside a wine flight or opt for more filling options like flatbreads and burgers." - allison green

I cannot say enough great things about Folktale! The tasting room is a super nice place to relax, the food is wonderful, the servers are great, and it's very dog friendly! I consider myself a bit of a wine snob and can honestly say I LOVE all Folktale wines- we are proud members of the wine club. My husband and I also had the perfect experience of having our wedding here, we were married on the Rose Vineyard, and had our reception at the Vineyard House. It was an absolutely beautiful place, everyone had a great time, and the food was great! Couldn't have picked a better spot.

As a solo guest I had a wonderful time! The vineyard is beautiful with beautiful landscaping. I did not go on the tour, but I was able to enjoy the flatbread pizza and reserve wine flight. The pizza was delicious! It's definitely a mist try. I had the BBQ chicken. Lots of flavor, the crust cooked to perfection and the fresh cilantro was a great finishing touch. The flights were great! Such a big pour for the flights, I honestly couldn't finish it😅. Excellent customer service! The ladies were accommodating, I needed lots of sun. There is an outdoor veranda that's nicely shaded and several umbrellas. I really enjoyed the live music, food and relaxing!

Very nice and dog friendly. We love the decor and vibes of the place. Staffs were friendly and helpful. Food was good. They even have 3 different options for dogs. They should have a doggie menu. We almost didn’t ask.

We did a tasting here as part of our wedding weekend for the ladies attending the wedding. The food and service were great and the wines were even better! We did the signature flight and it was the perfect mix of varieties. We also ordered food for the table- the hummus plate and sweet heat flatbread were two of our favorites! One must try that isn’t on the tasting flight is their pet-nat, it’s one of the best I’ve had and it was perfect for a sunny spring day. The grounds were beautiful (in April all the flowers are in bloom too!) and so was the presentation of everything. Our servers were friendly and great at their jobs. The rest of the Folktale team was very gracious and awesome to work with.

Came here for a tasting on a sunny day with a friend. The grounds and flowers are simply stunning and the patio is great, offering tables and chairs with umbrellas, couches by fire pits and indoor seating as well. We did a tasting with the cheese board but unfortunately the fruit wasn’t washed on the board and grapes were covered in mud. We said something and they were replaced but that shouldn’t have been an issue initially. We were also disappointed because I went to the bathroom after ordering and the waiter brought the first two glasses and presented the tasting notes without me being there which defeats the purpose of a tasting. If I didn’t want to know about the wine I would just order a glass. Our tasting had two glasses poured at a time-maybe to save time and because it was busy and there was only one waiter serving but they got warm and weren’t refreshing by the time we could drink them. So overall even though it was pretty, it didn’t seem worth the expense paid.

Google
This place has charges a minimum of $45 for a round of tasting for 1 person. Pro tip - if you are going with more than two people getting the tasting, order multiple bottle of wine and it will still cost less than 3 tastings together. There are 5 wines in the tasting, most of the wines are $30 a bottle ($14 a glass) so you could purchase 4 of the 5 bottles that you would try during the tasting for less than the cost of three tastings. I say this because as they get busier the quality of service declines and you end up waiting a long time for your server. Food was alright but overall the whole experience felt disappointing that we spent a lot of money and didn't really have a good time. For reference I had the sweet heat flat bread. It was way more sweet than heat, overall meh experience.

Loved it! This is the winery we picked for our "winery experience" during our 14-day California trip, and it sure didn't disappoint. Gorgeous surroundings, fairytale-like building, flower beds everywhere, a rolling jasmine hedge giving off the best scent while we had dinner, live music with a musician who was the perfect fit with mellow melodies, knowledgeable and kind servers, delicious food, and a great selection of wines.

Google
Loved the wine tour. Laura was amazing and very knowledgeable. I also really like that we got to sip two different wines at once and compare them. This was a very unique experience and such a beautiful location.

Yelp
This place is so cute!! The outdoor area is spacious and it seems to be dog friendly since we saw a couple dogs! We came on a Saturday afternoon and we also got to see some live music. I'm not big on wine so I can't speak to that, but the food here was so good! I'm not sure how often they change the menu but I was already planning my next trip here when we left because I couldn't stop thinking about the artichoke dip and the sweet heat flatbread!!

Yelp
A girlfriend is a club member and made a reservation for 2pm on a Saturday to celbebrate my Birthday. We were seated right away at a table outside with bench seat style, far enough from the live music, and under partial shade which was great since the sun was beaming. We were greeting right away by a familiar server of my friends, his name Amir, where he brought some Rose to start with. I am not normally partial to Rose, but was actually very good. Amir was very attentive and although he had other tables we never waited long for him to return and really enjoyed his humor and outgoing personality. He made several wine and menu selections, which ended up being great advice as we absolutely LOVED all the wine and food that came out. For wine we both settled on the Hound, which was a very smooth bourdeaux blend, very nice! For food we had the artichoke dip, Mind of a Chef flatbread and shared the Crush burger, substituted caesar salad instead of chips. When I tell you I say the food was hands down top notch, melt in your mouth good, doesn't get any better, zero complaints!! EVERYTHING was so delicious!! Then Amir even brought a Birthday dessert, with a candle and sang Happy Birthday with my friend. It was a chocolate dessert and very tasty! The ambiance is charming, the service Amir provided was perfect, and the food was phenominal! The manager even stopped by to check on how our service was and couldn't rave enoigh how great Amir was. THIS is the type of establishment that would earn a membership from me or at least repeat visits, eventhough I don't live very close. They are doing everything right and I highly recommend!

Yelp
Folktale is a fairly large property for wine tasting, dining , and definitely would be a great place for a large private group event. Great 1st impression! We made reservations, anticipating that we would have lunch and also do their curated wine tasting flights. We each drank a different wine flight of 5 wines. The chilled still rose' and sparkling rose' were our favorites. Their all day menu has lots of snacks/bites, and charcuteries to pair with wine tasting. The main course selections on the menu are fairly limited, so checkout their menu on the website prior to going for lunch or dinner. My wife and I shared the sweet heat flatbread (sausage , pepperoni, cream burrata cheese, honey and chili oil) and their cheeseburger to share. Both were made extremely well, and tasted even better. The flat bread had lots of flavorful toppings. The sweet heat was a brilliant concoction. The burger was cooked and seasoned very well and was served with house made potato chips. Melissa was our server. She was friendly and knew Folktale's wines. However, she really just poured the wine for our two flights. We poured our own water, and a food runner brought out our food. I make this distinction only to point out that this is winery that also makes/serves food. This is not a restaurant with attentive table service. We had a good experience at Folktale. We will definitely comeback to have their sweet heat flatbread and their sparkling rose' on a sunny Carmel afternoon.

Yelp
Folktale was a lovely winery. The ambiance is extremely nice and the entire outdoor dining space is very pretty with lighting from the valley and the beautiful flowers. Our server Andy was exceptional and gave us nothing but the best service. The Syrah we had was rich and dark, and a large glass of it. The wine went perfect with our food. The artichoke dip was the best I had ever had, with perfectly toasted bread that was crunchy yet soft. This was the star of the show for sure. The Margherita pizza was delicious, but nothing special. The crust was large and the sauce not very generously dosed. I wouldn't recommend it to avid pizza lovers. Overall our evening was fantastic! Would come back for sure.

Yelp
One of the best experiences I've had at a winery, hands down! What a beautiful place to sit and have a glass of wine with your girlfriends! We opted for this activity on a Monday afternoon, after having brunch and exploring a bit in Carmel. At first, it was just my two girls who ordered one of the wine tastings, but by the end of it, I had a few glasses myself (and if that doesn't tell you how much we enjoyed ourselves... LOL). Responsibly, we ordered a charcuterie board and a flatbread to eat with our wine. We sat at a table with some shade, so the temperature was perfect that day. Sunny, but also a little breezy. We thoroughly enjoyed our wine! Also, the company that came along with it. I wish I could remember his name, but our server was the best! He was attentive, conversed with us throughout our entire visit, and honestly was a source of pure entertainment. We really appreciated him taking care of our loud, silly selves! On our way out, a friend on mine grabbed a bottle of the rose we had (same rose that I had a few glasses of). Absolutely delicious. I would definitely make a trip back down here just for this winery!

Yelp
My friends and I got the artichoke dip and the flatbread that had hot honey. Honestly the flat bread was absolutely delicious and would get it again. My friends and I made a reservation and we were seated promptly. It was very sunny that day so the waiter kindly moved an umbrella over for us. Overall it was a great experience and would come here again.

Yelp
First thing's first the food was wonderful. The flatbread pizza had beautiful flavor and their roasted cauliflower salad (not pictured) was delicious. With that said, the service was extremely slow. I'm usually someone who is pretty patient and understanding when things are busy, but this was one of the worst places I've been to in a while :/ We had a reservation on a weekend and while they were busy, there were most than enough staff to cover the place (people were waiting around to wait tables). Our waiter forgot some of our drink orders and I had to wait 15-20 min from asking to try a drop of wine to actually being able to order a glass of wine. It was my deciding factor in not ordering any drinks besides water. We ended up just ordering everything at one go because of the lack of service. The slow service also was a make or break to is ordering dessert (we didn't) because it took them about another 20 min so we decided to just get the check. It's a shame really because the food is wonderful, but the service is what will not entice me to come back.

Yelp
From the food to their indoor lounge area, and the outdoor patio to their delicious wines, this place was hitting all the right notes. When we arrived in the late afternoon it was very sunny, but it had been raining all morning, which gave their outdoor space a gorgeous sparkle. We only had access to the Wine Garden menu, and a majority of these items are set up to be shared. We went with a crunchy cauliflower and the Mediterranean Dream flatbread pizza. We thought the crunchy cauliflower was just OK, definitely needed salt and a few other herbaceous elements. The Mediterranean Dream flatbread was delicious! A lightly sauced, soft piece of flatbread topped with beef kofta, cheese, and fresh arugula. We were told that this is a menu favorite and within our first bite, we found out why. I initially paired this with a Folktale Winery sparkling rosé, but moved to their riesling and it paired much better with the meal. We love the reason so much in fact that we purchased a bottle to sip at our hotel. The service here was amazing and there were all very informative about the wines. This venue also host weddings, and any other large scale event you may be looking to plan. Definitely a must stop for anyone who enjoys a relaxing sip of wine and gorgeous views from their outdoor patio.

Yelp
We were looking forward to the winery as the highlight of our trip. We had made a reservation at the restaurant but did not realize we needed an additional reservation for a tour of the winery, so unfortunately we were not able to see the process but the restaurant was exceptional. We had a charcuterie board and a wine flight sampler and goodness was it fantastic. The winery is beautiful, the service was so friendly and kind and the wine delicious. Absolutely worth a visit!

Yelp
ONCE UPON A TIME.... In a far, far away place (292 miles to be exact)... A land known for its Valleys FULL of Carmel... hence the name... ;) Surrounded by Green Rolling Hills... A Cool Climate... And chock-Full of Bodies!!! Wait, Wrong Folktale! What I meant was, Full-Bodied Wines... There, That's more like it. Yes... It's place where Magical Grapes turn into... No, not grape juice... But Wine!! Yeah, I told you they were magical! Take that Jack and the Beanstalk with your "magic beans". Now, grab my hand, and take a leap of faith... (You hearing this Rapunzel?) And listen carefully while I'll tell you a little tale about an enchanted little place known as... FOLKTALE WINERY & VINEYARDS First, let's talk about the lay of the land. As you make your way through Carmel Valley Road, it's almost like you are in a modern day Enchanted Forest. (Wait was that Goldilocks??) Nahh, just some blonde lady jumping out a window. Anyways.... As you reach Folktake Winery, take the long dirt road and park your chariot wherever you see fit. Now, as you make your way up to the Folktake "Castle".... (No joke, it's giving me Castle Vibes) Trumpets and the Lute begin to sound off and at once, you will be formally greeted by a Knight Guardsman wielding a sword who is standing fast to either admit or deny entry granting that you have a formal invite for the Queens Ball.... Thankfully for your sake, and mine... That was no Knight Guardsman (it was just the hostess on her cell phone probably scrolling through TikTok)... And Luckily there are absolutely no reservations required to attend the ball... Aka... Drink from the vine until your heart is content! Upon entry... We were greeted, seated and gracefully treated. It was as close as I've ever been to feeling like a Princess... haha Wines flowed from the heavens into our Glass Goblets... The finest Dough & Cheese were presented on a wood platter... (we went with their Margherita flatbread) And a Caesar Salad of all Caesar Salads graced our palates topped with the finest Grana Padano, Turkish Anchovies & House Made Croutons. This alongside ice-chilled buckets of some of Carmel Valley's Finest squeezed grapes... A Feast indeed it was! This Folktake was slowly turning into a Fairytale! And if you decide to visit one day... Before you ride off into the sunset on your white horse holding onto your Prince Charming... I challenge you to the 2021 Folktake Piquette Experience! Before we headed out, I wanted one more glass of wine so I inquired about the Piquette. First off, such a cool story behind this wine. When I asked whether it was good, the gentleman's face said everything I needed to know.. But the story (The Folklore) that came with it, MADE me want to try it for myself. Basically, it was explained that back in the Day... The King and his entourage would come through town and take all of the Good wine for himself. The remnants of that wine (the leftovers) known as Pomace was drunk by the farmers who produced the good wine for the King. The Piquette made by Folklore Winery & Vineyards is a homage to those Farmers. My advice, before you buy the bottle, ask for the story, then have yourself a little swig... Hey you never know, you might just LOVE it! As for the Queen (my wife) and the three Princess (my daughters)... We returned to our own Castle the next day... And We ALL LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER!

Yelp
Had the most amazing time with my girlfriends who were visiting from out of town!! The service, the wine, the food, the ambiance...5 STARS!!!

Yelp
I mean the grounds looked amazing but I didn't like that you had to have reservations. There were plenty of tables but it looked like they were understaffed. Didn't get in because the wait was originally 30 minutes and then in about 5 more minutes went up to 45 for some reason. Might try it again with the reservation. Might not.

Yelp
I LOVED this winery! Will definitely come back next time I'm in the area. Everything about the winery was awesome: the service, the general ambiance (perfect for kids and my 3 year old had a fun time roaming around and playing; just overall a nice environment and looks perfect for a wedding), and the FOOD! I don't always expect food at wineries to be amazing but the pizza was one of the best I've had in a while. It was the one with spicy sausage and honey. Sooooo good. Housemade kettle chips were good as well. For the wine flight, I splurged on the reserve ($60 for 5 generous pours). I will admit that although I enjoy wine, my palate isn't very sophisticated, so my opinion doesn't hold much weight, but while I really liked the two whites ("we are the flowers" blend and the reserve chardonnay), the three reds were just okay. The sommelier did a great job describing the wine and he was super friendly, though.

Yelp
One of my favorite wineries in the Monterey area. It lives up to its name, it's definitely magical! The entrance is grand and stunning. It looks like a castle. There's lots of opportunities for photo opps, indoor and outdoors. The grounds are just gorgeous. I love coming here in the summer for some good wine and yummy food in their outdoor seating area. Sometimes they even have live music. I recommend making a reservation ahead of time. During my last visit, my friends and I shared two flatbreads: the pesto and a Margherita. Both DELICIOUS and shareable. We sipped on their Le Mistral The White Witch. A crisp and fruity white wine at a reasonable price point. Our server was knowledgeable about the wines and let us taste between a few different wines before committing to a bottle. It's always good time at Folktale!

Emily G.

Yelp
My friends and I visited Folktake on a girl's trip and had a great time. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive and the food and wine were wonderful. The ambiance was perfect for a night out!

Yelp
Has a great time here on a Sunday morning with my partner, some family and their kids. We were taken care of by Sergio and he provided great service the entire time! The flatbread pizzas were pretty yummy... we tried 3 different ones! My cousin's wife suggested this specific Rosé to share amongst all of us and we actually all liked it! The venue is cute and a great place to take a larger group or just come on a date. The Sunday morning that we came, they had live music that had started shortly after we arrived (10:30am).
google avatar

Adela R.

Yelp
We came here as Folktale was highly recommended. The venue is really beautiful and they had live music that was a great touch to the ambience. However, the wine was just ok for me. My partner and I shared two different flights so we could try various options. The service was probably where I saw the biggest area of opportunity. I asked the server about what the blend was in one flights, and he started reading the back of the bottle to me depending on what experience you are looking for, this may be for you but it wasn't a traditional winery tasting for us.
google avatar

Yelp
What an amazing place! We are locals, but finally tried this place and had an incredible time. First and foremost, the customer service was amazing. We had Nick help us and we met the sommelier, Daniel, and the manager, Ethan. Everyone was so incredibly kind and truly went above and beyond to ensure we had an incredible experience. Second, the wines were delicious. Third, the ambience was so beautiful. Fourth, this winery was actually kid-friendly and my kids had an incredibly fun time too. My family enjoyed it so much, we joined the wine club! We cannot wait to come back!!
google avatar

Jennifer R.

Yelp
We had reservations for Friday, but got stuck in traffic at Bixby Bridge AND we didn't have phone service! When we finally arrived, we were pleasantly greeted by Rhea. She reassured us that we would still be able to be seated. She found out I was celebrating my 55th birthday. I was so kind and thoughtful and bright us the Artisan Cheese & Charcuterie Board as a gift. Amir and Nick also provided excellent service. The food was great. The service even better but the company was priceless. Thank you for making my 55th birthday girls getaway a fabulous weekend!

Gia E.

Yelp
What an experience! Folktale Winery provides hospitable service, good eats, and a view. Seating was abundant when we arrived, but reservations are the best way to go here. The wine was delectable. We tried both a Pinot Noir and a Sauvignon Blanc. The Sauvignon Blanc had notes of lemon and apple that were certainly memorable!
google avatar

Donna L.

Yelp
So glad to have been able to find this awesome winery in Carmel Valley! I definitely loved the countryside vibe that the winery gave off. It's great that they take reservations and you can preorder a bottle of wine for the table. I appreciated the fact that you could order flatbread/pizza for the table along with a glass or bottle of wine. Unfortunately, my group and I were only able to try the charcuterie board since we already had dinner reservations afterwards. I would definitely come back here when given the chance!

Yelp
Wonderful visit, the grounds are lovely. We did a tasting and food sampling. It was all great to taste . Will go again when we're in th area.

Yelp
My partner and I did the wine tour, 10/10 experience! It was our first time doing one and we learned so much thanks to our amazing guide, Laura! We appreciated how informative she was about the wine process over at Folktale, and just how nice and friendly she was. We did 9 tastings on this gorgeous property. Next time we come around we'll be sure to pick up some bottles again. Thank you, Laura!!!

Yelp
Food was great, and the wine selection is amazing. As far as service goes, Chris is the BEST! He was super attentive, and extremely knowledgeable. The ambiance was chill, summery, and just generally perfect for a date night!

Yelp
I really enjoyed our visit here! As many others suggested, it is best to make a reservation here and we did. When we arrived we were able to find parking easy due to the multiple lots. We were seated immediately but unfortunately it was in a spot without an umbrella. If this is you, bring your sunscreen and sunnies! I unfortunately forgot both and had to send my husband to our hotel up the road because it was so bright I could barely see. Once I had my sunnies, we were all set though and our waiter, Pedro, did end up bringing us an umbrella as soon as one was free without us having to ask so that was really nice! We ordered the signature flight, the margherita flatbreads and the charcuterie board. Honestly, we're not big wine drinkers we just mostly like the ambiance of wine tasting, so I can't say much about the wine. It was all really tasty and refreshing? But my bar is probably pretty low. Now, the food is more my wheelhouse and we loved their charcuterie board! So much variety here between the various Italian meats, cheeses, candied walnuts, and fruits. Hjghly recommend as I'm sure you will find something here will pair well with the many wines available! The margherita pizza was tasty but not really the traditional margherita I was expecting. It was good, but the sauce had a bit of a kick to it and the tomatoes were really thick. The wood fired crust though was delicious. My favorite part of this place though is they are dog friendly and have so much outdoor seating. A great place to take the family, your pup, or a group of friends in Carmel.

Yelp
My MIL gave me a membership here for a gift and I was in the area so we decided to stop by. I didn't have reservations as it was impromptu, but since I was a member they were able to accommodate. The place was beautiful, they had a band playing and very spacious and green and the sun was out and the little shop they had in the building was super cute. The bathrooms were super cute and overall we just had a great time. The waitress was really nice with us and gave us great detail about the wines and the food was delish. I would love to come back.

Yelp
Seating host inefficiencies .We joined the waitlist and were told the wait for approximately for an hour. We waited 3 hours and we neither got a text or a call confirming our waitlist or that the table was ready. Our afternoon was wasted. We went to another winery, with great wine and service, and ended up purchasing several bottles of wines to take home and signed up for their wine club membership. Your loss Folktale Winery!

Yelp
Such a fun experience and our waiter/sommelier was very nice and even gave us a bonus round because he unintentionally took too long between rounds.

Yelp
I first got introduced to Folktale through their whole cluster Pinot that you can find at K&L for $30 a bottle. I think it's quite good at the price. (spoiler: Folktale sells this wine at their main location for $75). I happened to be in Carmel Valley and stopped by the winery to do a tasting and (I assumed) pick up a few bottles. I was shocked to learn the tasting fees are $45 (mixed red/white) and $60 ("signature red") and they are *not* waived with bottle purchase. I spoke to some of the winery employees about this and they agreed that this is insane (even Napa's fanciest / most overpriced wineries waive tasting fees with purchase) and mentioned that they were being forced to push wine club memberships, of which the smallest is 4 bottles per quarter (16 per year). I also note that they require a 30 day written notice to cancel, and cancelling before two shipments results in a $150 early termination fee... so watch out if you're going that route. I enjoyed the wine, I thought the venue was lovely, but the extreme prices and almost cell-phone-store-level contract practices were a huge turnoff for me. I left without purchasing a bottle and will not be purchasing directly from Folktale- ever.

Yelp
What an amazing time! The setting is absolutely gorgeous--a greenhouse-style space with multiple tables surrounding the main area, complemented by charming barrels and cornhole games that add to the ambiance. The wine flights are a great touch, offering a variety of selections to suit different tastes. As for the food, everything was delicious! We enjoyed the artichoke dip and roasted potatoes--a perfect combination. The octopus was massive and definitely a standout dish! The service was okay, but overall, the experience was fantastic. Would definitely come back!

TLDR: Service is horrific, better service to be found interacting with a brick wall, thank you Sergio. *Sarcasm* My partner and I came in to celebrate during our anniversary weekend. Thank you to our server, Sergio, for making it a visit we wouldn't forget (sarcasm). Firstly, we were never informed that we would be getting one glass for each wine in our tasting- my partner and I were willing to pay to have our own individual tastings so as not to have to share the "healthy splash" and to get our own glasses. Unfortunately, we weren't given the opportunity to even ask to do it that way, as Sergio assumed we would share one glass and to start my partner and I thought we were drinking the same wine until I got a white and he got a red and we realized what had happened. In the end, glad we didn't do our own tastings, I would've hated to spend more money at a place not worthy of it. Next issue was horrible service. Sergio was EXTREMELY difficult to track down. We saw him roughly every 40 minutes. Horrible experience. It got to the point that we didn't want to ask him for anything extra seeing as it would take him another 40 minutes to appear to fulfill the request. We got extremely antsy by the end, and had assumed he could have started his lunch break at that point. Shout out (sarcasm) to the woman server with the blue dangly earrings who was standing in front of us and looked directly at us as we waved at her desperately attempting to get anyone's attention so that we could LEAVE. Not to mention, there was no one questioning if we had a special occasion. We were looking to buy a bottle to keep as memorabilia, but the experience was so horrific we chose not to. Honorable mention (sarcasm) to the young women sitting at the table at the entrance, they were very nonchalant and couldn't seem to muster a smile for any of the guests upon entry. Only positives: the setting is absolutely beautiful (despite the bee and hornet issue), the sweet kid who was going from table to table giggling and chatting with folks, and the pesto pizza was pretty good. Overall- wouldn't recommend.

Yelp
The charm of this vineyard is evident as soon as you walk onto the grounds. The outdoor seating with live music gave it a lively ambiance and since we were there on a nice sunny day everyone was sitting outside enjoying the weather and music. To start the flatbread was probably the best classic Margherita flatbread I have ever had. Im not sure what it was but the dough tasted so fresh as well as all the other ingredients. We were able to enjoy a glass of wine and our server let us know we are free to walk around. We spent the afternoon enjoying a beautiful summer day at a lovely vineyard. I highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!

Yelp
If I could give this place 10 stars I would, I'm not even a wine person and they definitely converted me. The server was so knowledgeable and attentive, they have flights white and red flights you can pick from. The food was amazing as well, the place itself is astonishing I can see why they have wedding there. They have some items for sale inside like home decor and even a little Photo Booth set up. The parking lot is big so bring your friends and have a great time here!

Yelp
My new fiancée and I had an incredible time at Folktale. I booked at 12:30 reservation through Allie, and had an amazing time on the patio. Allie was there on the day of the reservation and she was so friendly and very helpful in getting us set up, and as well helping us check out with a few bottles of wine and merch in the main store later in the afternoon! The service was excellent (shout out Alicia and Dan), and wine even better! 5/5 experience. Would highly recommend.

Yelp
We were wine members for 6 months because the vibe is really really nice. It's really a beautiful place that's great for kids and just really a nice place to be. Sadly the wine, food, and service is really mediocre. We just opened a Hound wine that we bought a couple of years ago for $100 and it was so disappointing. Really wish they would improve.

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience. The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Roderick (I think) , the host, was so refreshing and considerate. Nick was awesome, we couldn't have received better service. The garden is beautiful and vibrant. Our food was top notch. This was my first visit and I'm looking forward to returning.

Yelp
We came here to celebrate two birthdays. The day started off a little overcast, which is normal, but heated up rather quickly. The staff were quick to start putting up umbrellas for all the guests. We chose to do wine tasting and a cheese & charcuterie board. The wines were delicious and the charcuterie board was ok. We were not fans of the apricots or ,I believe they were, the pickled shallots. The courtyard where we sat was beautiful and there were quite a few people so I would recommend to make a reservation before coming!

Yelp
We did a tasting here as part of our wedding weekend for the ladies attending the wedding. The food and service were great and the wines were even better! We did the signature flight and it was the perfect mix of varieties. We also ordered food for the table- the hummus plate and sweet heat flatbread were two of our favorites! One must try that isn't on the tasting flight is their pet-nat, it's one of the best I've had and it was perfect for a sunny spring day. The grounds were beautiful (in April all the flowers are in bloom too!) and so was the presentation of everything. Our servers were friendly and great at their jobs. The rest of the Folktale team was very gracious and awesome to work with.

Yelp
The artichoke dip and flatbreads were sensational. Arjun was great at describing the wines and the service was great! The outdoor area is perfect with the plants and wine barrel decorations. Great experience!

Yelp
We had such a great time at Folktale Winery, and a big part of that was thanks to our server, Josiah. He had such a fun, easygoing vibe and really brought good energy to our table. You can tell he loves what he does and knows how to make guests feel welcome. On top of that, he had solid wine knowledge and gave some great recommendations. Folktale is lucky to have him!

Yelp
5 stars for my boy Nick. We are new to wine tasting and went with the Signature Tasting and Nick made the experience amazing with his easy banter and product knowledge. Beautiful property, friendly staff, and great food. Will be back on a Sunday as they do an amazing brunch then!

Yelp
Our tour with Laura was great and we loved our tasting and the knowledge she had. Andrea is also awesome and proactive, helped make our needs met and heard during our time there!

Yelp
Beautiful winery and venue for your next event! I photographed a bridal shower inside the greenhouse and it was so pretty with all the natural light coming in! Hope to be back soon!

Yelp
My second time returning here. A very popular winery/food spot. The wine isn't the most top quality and not the cheapest; but you come here for the aesthetic. Very cute vibes for a girls day or date night. I would also not recommend coming here without a reservation. You will most likely be turned away unless it's not at a peak time. Their pizzas are pretty good.. I normally get the sweet heat one. We tried the chicken pizza and I thought jt was okay the sauce threw me off a little since it was slightly sour. The Caesar salad was honestly pretty bland. Not much flavor and I hate they added anchovies to it. When it's busy servers are often overwhelmed and don't tend to check up on you without you having to flag them down. We ended up splitting a bottle of rose and it was decent. This is one of the more popular and well known wineries because of cute it is. I'd recommend if you've never been, but locals will definitely say this isn't their favorite for wines purposes.

Yelp
Come for the wine, stay for the food! The food is DELICIOUS, and their seasonal specials are really fun. Huge kudos to the chef. The service can be a little slow, but I don't mind at all because it gives you more time to relax and enjoy the special outdoor ambiance, and I wonder if that's their intention anyway. They are super dog friendly, and we see kids there all the time. Highly recommend, Every time we visit Monterey we make a trip down to Folktale!
