The 17 Best Restaurants & Hotels In Carmel

"If you keep opening Google Flights and looking up flights to Europe between meetings, Folktale is an alternative that will almost scratch that itch. This winery set amidst vineyard-covered hills looks like a European castle, turrets and all, and an afternoon spent wine tasting on the patio will have you feeling a world away. But Folktale isn’t just good looks and delicious wines—the food here is excellent. Pick from options like cheese and charcuterie boards to snack on alongside a wine flight or opt for more filling options like flatbreads and burgers." - allison green

As a solo guest I had a wonderful time! The vineyard is beautiful with beautiful landscaping. I did not go on the tour, but I was able to enjoy the flatbread pizza and reserve wine flight. The pizza was delicious! It's definitely a mist try. I had the BBQ chicken. Lots of flavor, the crust cooked to perfection and the fresh cilantro was a great finishing touch. The flights were great! Such a big pour for the flights, I honestly couldn't finish it😅. Excellent customer service! The ladies were accommodating, I needed lots of sun. There is an outdoor veranda that's nicely shaded and several umbrellas. I really enjoyed the live music, food and relaxing!

Very nice and dog friendly. We love the decor and vibes of the place. Staffs were friendly and helpful. Food was good. They even have 3 different options for dogs. They should have a doggie menu. We almost didn’t ask.

We did a tasting here as part of our wedding weekend for the ladies attending the wedding. The food and service were great and the wines were even better! We did the signature flight and it was the perfect mix of varieties. We also ordered food for the table- the hummus plate and sweet heat flatbread were two of our favorites! One must try that isn’t on the tasting flight is their pet-nat, it’s one of the best I’ve had and it was perfect for a sunny spring day. The grounds were beautiful (in April all the flowers are in bloom too!) and so was the presentation of everything. Our servers were friendly and great at their jobs. The rest of the Folktale team was very gracious and awesome to work with.

Loved it! This is the winery we picked for our "winery experience" during our 14-day California trip, and it sure didn't disappoint. Gorgeous surroundings, fairytale-like building, flower beds everywhere, a rolling jasmine hedge giving off the best scent while we had dinner, live music with a musician who was the perfect fit with mellow melodies, knowledgeable and kind servers, delicious food, and a great selection of wines.

This place has charges a minimum of $45 for a round of tasting for 1 person. Pro tip - if you are going with more than two people getting the tasting, order multiple bottle of wine and it will still cost less than 3 tastings together. There are 5 wines in the tasting, most of the wines are $30 a bottle ($14 a glass) so you could purchase 4 of the 5 bottles that you would try during the tasting for less than the cost of three tastings. I say this because as they get busier the quality of service declines and you end up waiting a long time for your server. Food was alright but overall the whole experience felt disappointing that we spent a lot of money and didn't really have a good time. For reference I had the sweet heat flat bread. It was way more sweet than heat, overall meh experience.

Loved the wine tour. Laura was amazing and very knowledgeable. I also really like that we got to sip two different wines at once and compare them. This was a very unique experience and such a beautiful location.

Had an amazing time here. Had a few servers that came to help and provide service - but Daniel was by far the best - super knowledgeable with the wine process and taste. His recommendations were on point. Good was okay - pizza was a little toasty but good balance of crust to toppings. Scallops were point. The Rosé was tasty and dangerously good. Great space for a date night and hangout with friends - easy to grab food to share and enjoy a flight or a solid glass.

Came here for a tasting on a sunny day with a friend. The grounds and flowers are simply stunning and the patio is great, offering tables and chairs with umbrellas, couches by fire pits and indoor seating as well. We did a tasting with the cheese board but unfortunately the fruit wasn’t washed on the board and grapes were covered in mud. We said something and they were replaced but that shouldn’t have been an issue initially. We were also disappointed because I went to the bathroom after ordering and the waiter brought the first two glasses and presented the tasting notes without me being there which defeats the purpose of a tasting. If I didn’t want to know about the wine I would just order a glass. Our tasting had two glasses poured at a time-maybe to save time and because it was busy and there was only one waiter serving but they got warm and weren’t refreshing by the time we could drink them. So overall even though it was pretty, it didn’t seem worth the expense paid.
