The 12 Best Colombian Restaurants In Miami

"A school of fried fish occupies 70% of the tables at this Kendall restaurant. Take it as a sign to also order the mojarra frita. But before that, savor the complimentary cup of warm chicken broth, which they always give you even if it’s not February 17th (Random Acts of Kindness Day). Aside from the exquisite fried fish, the Colombian restaurant makes great tostones topped with guacamole and chicharron, beef and potato empanadas, and agua panela. You can count on this place for a last-minute lunch or dinner. Show up in your Monday worst and you’ll still be referred to as “mi amor” by the sweet staff. Plus, they have a second location in West Flagler in case a free soup journey to Kendall is too far for you." - mariana trabanino

It’s good as is, but if you add a spoonful of their house salsa, and a lime squeeze, it gives the soup a kick. It’s crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and a great midday buffer that’ll mute the stress of an intense work week. photo credit: Tasty Planet Morcilla Y Arepita The morcilla has an even rice-to-sausage ratio and comes with a small arepa. Google
The Best Authentic Colombian Restaurant I have had in Miami. ***Not to be mistaken for the Kendal location. ***This is the west Flagler location! Very Important*** Everything we ordered was Superb Paramount and Top tier Authentic Colombian Cuisine. I have had Colombian food in Barranquilla and Cartagena and this is authentic as you would get in Colombia 🇨🇴 The Food was amazing the service was fantastic and the outdoor patio was fabulous and pleasant

The food was amazing, cleared the plate until I got full but the waitress disappeared on us for sometime before it got busy. She only came back to ask us if we want anything else 3 time after she was told we already wanted the check. Honestly if ask for the check I shouldn’t haven’t to be questioned if I want more 3 times.

I had an amazing dining experience at Fonda Sabaneta in West Flagler! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a vibrant atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious, bursting with authentic flavors. However, what truly stood out was the exceptional service we received. Our waiter, Carolina, went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable experience. Her attentiveness, friendliness, and knowledge of the menu made our meal even more enjoyable. It’s rare to find such outstanding customer service, and Carolina truly made us feel like valued guests. I will definitely be coming back, and I highly recommend Fonda Sabaneta to anyone looking for great food and service! Five stars all the way!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I had the pleasure of dining at this Colombian restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. I ordered the bandeja paisa and cazuela de frijoles—both dishes were outstanding. The bandeja paisa was rich and flavorful, with perfectly cooked meats and traditional sides that hit every nostalgic note. The cazuela de frijoles was hearty, comforting, and seasoned just right. What truly elevated the experience was the excellent service provided by Santiago. He was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Colombian cuisine with warm, welcoming service.

⭐ Review ⭐ Caution/Heads Up: Before visiting, be aware that this restaurant automatically applies an 18% service charge to all checks, regardless of party size. Also, since this is Miami-Dade, expect that most of the staff primarily speak Spanish. If you’re not fluent, bring a friend who is or be ready to use Google Translate. Parking: The restaurant is located in a shopping plaza with plenty of free parking available, which makes things very convenient. Wait Time: I visited on a Sunday evening. Despite the restaurant being near full capacity, there was no wait to be seated. Food service took about 20–25 minutes, which felt reasonable considering the quality and freshness of the dishes. Service: Although there’s a language barrier for non-Spanish speakers, the service was still excellent. My waiter, Héctor, was extremely friendly and attentive. One unique touch: they serve a small complimentary soup as a starter—it’s light, flavorful, and sets the tone nicely. From being seated to receiving the check, the service was smooth and enjoyable. Food Ordered: Mango Juice (5/5): Absolutely fantastic. Thick, cold, and smoothie-like. I loved it so much I ordered two—and would’ve gone for a third if I had the room! Yuca Fries (4/5): Good, but different from the Cuban-style yuca fries I’m used to in Miami. I missed the cilantro-garlic-lime dipping sauce you’d typically find at places like Versailles or Havana Harry’s. Still enjoyable, but not my favorite of the night. Tostones con Aguacate y Crema (6/5 🤩): My surprise favorite. Perfectly crispy tostones topped with creamy avocado and meat (seafood is also available). Adding a squeeze of lime elevated it to a whole new level. I only got three, but could’ve easily eaten nine. Bandeja Paisa (4/5): A hearty Colombian classic for $22. It came with steak, avocado, refried beans, rice topped with an egg, and chicharrón. Flavor was excellent, but the dish leaned a bit oily for my taste. Still delicious and worth ordering—just a little heavy if you plan to finish in one sitting. Presentation: All entrées are served on what appears to be a banana leaf. It’s a small detail, but it really enhances the overall presentation and dining experience. Final Thoughts: Between the friendly service, hearty dishes, and flavorful juices, this place delivers a memorable experience. Come prepared for the automatic service charge and potential language barrier, but don’t let that stop you. The food and hospitality are well worth it. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.8/5 stars rounded up to 5 for Google)

Google
We had such a great experience at Fonda Sabaneta Miami! The food was delicious. I tried the ceviche de chicharrón (so tasty 🤤) and my parents had the mojarra, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The service was excellent, our waitress Cristal took amazing care of us, always with a smile and very attentive. Thank you for making our visit so enjoyable. Definitely a place we’ll come back to! 🙌✨

Yelp
Very authentic and aesthetically pleasing. Proper service and great food. I ordered the Bandeja Paisa which is always a little different at each Colombian restaurant. Here was one of the better platters. Everything was absolutely delicious and everyone in my party was very happy.

Yelp
Tried this location for the first time. Small but cozy. Was seated right away. Their menu is typical of a Colombian restaurant. They have specials every day of the week mon-fri. Empanadas were good. I recommend the pack of 4 that way you have room for your food. I ordered Mondongo (beef stripe) the plate was clean and plentiful. Temperature was excelent. Rice and arrepa as a side dish could use a little bit of Temperature. Now this is were it gets tricky. The Bandeja Paisa y an iconic Colombian dish. Plentiful in the sense of all of the ingredients. Anyway, I highly recommend that you specify the temperature of the meat to the server. I ate that one because I better. The ambience was good. The service could use a little of follow up when it comes to drinks. Other than that the servers were professional. The food was priced accordingly however the final stroke came when I paid the bill there is an 18% tip fee already included and a Homeless tax fee paired with the taxes.

Yelp
Went to the restaurant after a day of travel since it's fairly close to the airport. When you walk in the decor is very Colombia. Clean and the smell of food hits you in the face. We were promptly sat down and greeted with a little bit of caldo to start. It was hot and DELICIOUS. Great free little treat and a nice touch. We both ordered the bandeja paisa and all the protein was delicious but the rice was hard, the egg was very overcooked and the beans were a little cold. Overall it was good.

Yelp
The food here is very fresh. The chicken broth was noticeably home made as well as the salsa and chimmichuri. We had the Picada Pequena. It was very good. The french fries were very crispy. The steak and chicken were tender. I would absolutely recommend this place. And of course I would visit again. We were here for lunch and they did have lunch specials.

Yelp
Amazing spot!!!!! The food was delicious and fresh! The service was also great. Once you get set they give you a complimentary cup with the soup of the day. We ordered the bandeja paisa which on Mondays is 2x30$ such a good price for the amount of food. We also got margaritas which were amazing.. only 5$. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
NOT a good overall experience at this place!!! Stay away!! Sadly, I was tricked into coming to have dinner here after a long day of work because of the high ratings, but that was a realy bad decision. Maybe if you go in the middle of the afternoon with several hours before closing, then the experience will be different, but for a place that forces their mandatory 18% Service charge on every bill, regardless of the service you receive, they should respect the customers enough to give them just as good service, even if you arrive 1 hr and 15 min before the restaurant closes. The lack of service became evident when our waitress (young, dark hair, thick body, dental braces it appeared like), was paying more attention to the gossip with her co-workers, regarding whose boyfriend and girlfriend, was doing this or that, laughing and even eating a little bit. All instead of paying attention to our needs at the table, like wanting another drink, getting the order correct, etc. After asking multiple questions over the menu options, I never heard her confirm what my order was, or even write it down to be certain of what we both wanted. If that would have been done at the beginning, there would have been no mistake. In addition, when I went to the bathroom, there was nothing to dry my hands with and in coming out and informing a male server, he said, "just go into the men's bathroom for some paper". To which I answered, "but the door is closed, and I have no way to get inside". At that momen it was obvious by his facial expression, and that of our server, as well as one other, that I had disturbed their fun moment, and that they were more focused on getting ready to close the restaurant, instead of giving us our 18% mandatory service charge, Service. When the wrong platter/ order showed up in front of me at the table, instead of being understanding with how she might have mistaken the order (after not even writing it down), the server decided to argue with me and ultimately, tell me that the kitchen was closed and that I could not have the dish I wanted anymore. But even so, I rejected the incorrect dish she had brought and was not going to eat a main platter at all. Instead, I received some food through what my friend split with me from their plate. After realizing I was visibly upset, our server went to the back and upon returning, said that they would try to make an exception for me, to prepare my originally ordered plate. But, I rejected her halfway insulting look and offer, since it was obvious that it was only done to get me to be quiet and not make a formal complaint. So, I stayed long enough to keep my friend company, while they finished their meal. But, not before at approximately 15 to 20 minutes before closing, the entire staff made us feel like we were definitely bothering them. There was yelling and extremely loud singing coming from the kitchen area (we were furthest from there next to the door), and it was adopted by those workers in the area behind the counter. Once again, not respecting that there was still one table with customers left in the restaurant. We left, and said thank you, but can guarantee you, we will definitely not make the mistake of ever returning to this place! And, with as small of a world as Miami is, believe me, we will inform as many as will listen, of all the truly fantastic Colombian restaurants that there are in this city and for as many as possible to avoid the Fonda Sabaneta west Flagler restaurant, so they do not have the terrible service we had.

Yelp
We had high hopes for this restaurant, but the experience was mixed. We waited a few minutes for an indoor table, which was fine. The waiter quickly brought us caldo (chicken broth), which was a nice touch. We ordered two bandejas paisa and a steak with fries from the kids' menu. Food arrived fast but was only warm, not hot. The steaks were ordered medium well but came out medium with blood. They were chewy and very salty. Portions were just okay. What really threw us off was seeing the waiters taking shots at the bar during service--very unprofessional. Also, an 18% tip was automatically added to the check. Overall, decent service, but the food and atmosphere missed the mark.

Valentina S.

Yelp
Terrible service, I made an online order and they charged me for something they did no have in stock and did not refund my money, even though I never received the order. When I called to request a refund the lady as rude, unprofessional and told me to figure it out. I never eating here again. They lost a regular customer.

Yelp
Came in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant was empty when I arrived but quickly filled up. The servers were nice and bring you a cup of chicken consume to start off. Such a nice touch on a chilly day. Pros: Sancocho de res was delicious and so was the chocolo. Cons: Breaded chicken was a major disappointment. It was pure breading and paper thin chicken. I do see myself returning to try other dishes.

Yelp
Very sadly so, I was very disappointed with the taste of the food. Poor food quality. The only thing worth praising is the service that I received from the waitresses. I sincerely do not recommend it.
