"The Renzo Piano-designed Fondation Beyeler—which will soon add an extension by starchitect Peter Zumthor—is now showing “Close-Up” (September 19, 2021–January 2, 2022), which includes portraits and self-portraits by nine renowned female Modernists, from Berthe Morisot to Frida Kahlo to Elizabeth Peyton."

When we visited end of August, the exhibition was fairly small. Half the building was not accessible, Perhaps in preparation of the next exhibition? Still liked the place a lot. Beautiful building, Nice artworks, decent amount of Picasso's including sculpture. So if you are in the neighbourhood, worth a visit!

Interesting collection of modern and contemporary art in a beautiful building by Renzo Piano. The museum is surrounded by a beautiful park, which also features a café. Unfortunately, given the museum's small size, the collection is never displayed in its entirety, but rather gradually.

I love this museum — I’m a huge fan! The place is beautiful, the exhibitions are interesting and really well done, the staff is friendly, and the whole space is lovely. I highly recommend it — it’s a must if you’re visiting Basel. I saw the Northern Lights exhibit five times because it was just that amazing!

A truly stunning foundation nestled in a beautiful and serene location. The collection of art pieces is both impressive and thoughtfully curated, offering an inspiring experience for visitors of all ages. On the lower level, there’s an exciting interactive section featuring VR glasses and a kind of hologram installation — modern, playful, and definitely worth trying out. Outside, a charming pond filled with blooming water lilies adds a romantic touch to the atmosphere. The surrounding garden is ideal for families looking to unwind, and there’s also a cozy little café, although seating is a bit limited. Overall, a wonderful place to visit — peaceful, enriching, and full of surprises. I’m already looking forward to coming back. Highly recommended!

A wonderful cultural and arts center. With outstanding architecture, a well-designed environment, pleasant and professional staff. The Vija Celmiņa exhibition was a special event — like everything organized by this foundation

The landscaping of the external building almost seems more exciting than the inside. Although this is undoubtedly an art crime to say so. We walked from central Basel (about 2 hours through some parkland). It is a way out but tram quick and goes Basel to the front gate of FB. I have had a membership for a while but it seems to add no value at all. All tours in German - no membership lounge. The door man said no benefits. We had a coffee and poppyseed cake to start in the garden - a lovely setting. We loved the snowman in a case. The back of the gallery with the hare in the waterway and seating was a highlight. The VR experience was going to take 45 mins so we skipped it. The exhibitions were either classic like Picasso (so you prob seen already) or vija celmins - who I did not know but there seems a theme in the art world of micro and multiple changes to simple concepts in repeat. I very much enjoyed the visit but preferred the Kunstmuseum’s classic collection. However it’s a must visit for art peeps.

Nestled in the serene setting of Fondation Beyeler outside Basel, the museum impresses with its elegant architecture and harmoniously curated collection. But the standout moment is Little Room, Wolfson’s provocative VR installation that lingers long after the visit.

Loved the building, the space, and especially the collection. After enjoying the collection, I suggest guests either have lunch in the restaurant or spend time enjoying the garden.

Yelp
Small museum of one floor of many large rooms. We visited the Matisse exhibition and it was displayed well.

Yelp
This museum was wonderful, filled with art by Pirosmani, Picasso, Thiebaud, Monet, Matisse, Cezanne, Warhol, and an abundance of other artists. It takes quite awhile to go through all the galleries to see everything, especially if you read everything on the walls, too! It was really breathtaking to walk into a gallery and see the large Monet painting "The Water Lily Pond" hanging on a full wall; such a beautiful surprise. His "Water Lilies" was also in the same gallery. Definitely worth the visit and there's a discount offered (50%) when you present your BaselCard, which is a tourist card you can get for free from your hotel. 13.50 CHF (Swiss francs) at the time I went (November, 2023).

Yelp
Gorgeous museum set in a beautiful location. Quiet, peaceful and inspiring. Big windows and bright lights make the art experience feel very modern. It is not a large museum, so it feels like each piece has purpose. Overall an excellent experience from inside and out. The gift store features a wide range of fascinating art books.

Yelp
The Foundation Beyeler is impressive as a building and piece of architecture. The grounds are beautifully kept and the permanent collection is quite small. The recent Gauguin exhibit was brilliant and shows the effort the museum puts into world class exhibits. Highly recommend a visit to this unique art museum outside Basel.

Yelp
Very disapointing. Arrived straight from the airport at 15:00 and was informed that the museum closed at 16:00 for a private event. I asked for a discount instead of paying full fare for 1 hour. This was declined. I still wanted to visit the museum and paid CHF 25,- only to learn inside that half the museum was closed until October. Fed up with the whole experience.

Yelp
It's a nice beautiful museum built in a green area. It was designed from architect Renzo Piano. The intensive building daylight with the view of the pond makes you rather feel outside in a garden! We had been twice there and liked Picasso painting, Louis Bourgeois surrealism and other sculptor's and painter's oeuvres too. The entry price is on average and the service is very friendly.

Yelp
One of my favorite museums anywhere. Fantastic collection and building and setting. Follow it up, or start, with a walk in the adjacent park and up the vineyard covered hill just across the border in Germany. You can walk all the way up the hill on narrow paths that wind through the vineyards. Great way to spend a day.
