Google
It was one of the greatest dining experiences of my life. From the moment we walked in, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The food was absolutely fresh and delicious, and the atmosphere was phenomenal, Beautifully organized and spotless. The dessert was especially delightful! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves authentic Italian food and warm vibes. I can’t wait to come back and try more dishes!

Google
I had such a wonderful experience at Fontina Ristorante! The food was absolutely amazing—full of flavor, beautifully prepared, and truly authentic. The service was professional, attentive, and made the evening even more enjoyable. This place is a real gem in McKinney, and I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

Google
Restaurant is decorated so cute&chic, very warming atmosphere, we had lobster ravioli, spaghetti&meatballs and rigatoni, everything was good including desserts, chocolate cake was moist and lemon dessert was very good as well! Didn't really like the spinach dip, it was more like a soup. Our server Brookelyn was the absolutely BEST, she was the sweetest! Highly recommend!

Google
What a perfect little gem of a restaurant! The food is incredibly fresh and absolutely delicious—you can truly taste the quality in every bite. The chef is amazing and can make just about anything, which makes the experience feel so personal and special. The staff is beyond incredible—welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind, which really elevates the whole night. This place is the perfect spot for a date night: cozy, fun, and full of great energy.

Enchanting beautiful spot! Great service and friendly staff. Fatima was very sweet! Also our server was wonderful! This pasta was so good! So grateful to have a gluten free vegan option here at this lovely restaurant! The plants inside were so uplifting. Definitely recommend :)

Google
Wonderful food, service and atmosphere! Perfect for any romantic or cute date. Served with bread and a tangy olive oil vinaigrette. We ordered the margarita pizza, lasagna and meatballs. All amazing. It was quiet and beautifully decorated. An absolute must if in downtown McKinney .

Google
La Fontina nails that cozy, tucked-away Italian vibe. We stopped in for dinner and left stuffed, happy, and already planning a return trip. Food Started with the bruschetta crisp bread, sweet tomatoes, hint of balsamic. Simple and solid. Main courses were the showstoppers: • Vegetable Thai Curry Pasta – Not your average Italian dish, but bold and creamy with the perfect kick. Loaded with veggies and flavor. • Fettuccine with Shrimp – Rich tomato sauce, fresh herbs, and tender shrimp. Pasta cooked just right. • Cheese Ravioli in Butternut Squash Sauce – Sweet, savory, and buttery smooth. Comfort in a bowl. Atmosphere Dim lighting, warm tones, and not too loud. Great for date night or a slow dinner with friends. Service Friendly staff, not pushy. Let us linger and enjoy. Verdict Unexpected fusion, classic Italian comfort, and fresh ingredients. Worth the visit. Would recommend and repeat!!

Google
Eric, Adam and the entire staff at Fontina are always amazing. We’ve become regulars here because of the quality of food, drinks and customer service. We’ve gone to many nearby “high dollar” restaurants that don’t even compare to the quality of food and customer service that’s offered here. For a downtown McKinney location they offer World class food and service. Check them out you won’t be disappointed.

Yelp
Food is awesome Generous portions Service is great Ambiance is perfect for an Italian restaurant

Yelp
Popular with the locals and my family I was a bit underwhelmed. Not overly hungry, I had 2 appetizers - the Caprese salad and meatballs. The meatballs were ok, but notes tasty as I expected. Others in our party had other dishes which I didn't try so my experience may be a 1-off. For me, the place was way too loud. I doubt it possible - at least when the restaurant is full - to have a cozy/romantiic dinner. On the positive side, the service was exceptional, and the table went through 2-3 servings of bread with the dipping 'oil'.

Yelp
Great Italian restaurant in the heart of DT Mckinney. Had a window of time and wanted to check out this area for a long time. Happen to visit in the midst of Oktoberfest so the area was crowded and a little crazy. The place itself is great. The decor is really cool. Not too crowded and definitely has good energy. The food itself was solid. The bread was decent and the olive oil and balsamic vinegar was excellent. Afterwards I got chicken parm. It was really well prepared. A lot of times the parm will either be burnt or soggy. It was perfect. The side pasta was decent. I wish they provided more marinara sauce. I would say that Kenny's in Addison is definitely better but if you're in the area and are craving Italian food, this is a good place to visit.

Yelp
Only picked up to go, when asked thy will provide bread and an olive oil dip, it's a must!

Yelp
We were there on a lazy Sunday afternoon and there were very few people inside. Our waiter was attentive and helpful choosing wine. I had the Greek salad with chicken and my friend had the veggie pizza. My salad was perfect - very clean tasting with oil and vinegar dressing and actual grilled chicken instead of the ubiquitous thawed chicken bits with painted on crosshatch marks like you see at too many restaurants. My friend's pizza had SO MANY VEGGIES - she said it may have been the best she's ever had. Again, our server was lovely and charming. Not cheap, but worth the expense. Highly recommended. We drove in from Denton, and I might be tempted to drive there again just for that salad.

Yelp
We dined here tonight as a party of five. The restaurant has a very nice aesthetic, and several dishes were excellent. Two lasagnas and the chicken marsala were all very well prepared with no complaints. Unfortunately, there were a few issues that affected our experience. The lamb shank was served with noodles that were undercooked. hard and dry. Another guest ordered fettuccine shrimp and scallops, but was instead served fettuccine Alfredo without any seafood. When the mistake was pointed out, the waitress came back four separate times, the final time bringing the menu over and insisting that the fettuccine Alfredo was what had been ordered I went to go pointed out on the menu. At this time, it became clear that fettuccine Alfredo wasn't even on the menu. This is when the server mentioned it was only her second day, which we understand, but continuously blaming the customer instead of take a ownership, she should have verified the order if she was new. The food has potential, but the service experience took away from what could have been a much better meal.

Yelp
The food here was so delicious. I ordered the rigatoni bolognese and completely devoured my plate. There is something about their meatballs and meat sauce that is so delicious. Their complimentary bread and olive oil was very good, you can tell they use good dipping olive oil - it just taste more fresh and flavorful. Highly recommend coming here if you are ever in town. The downtown area surrounding the restaurant is also super cute.

Yelp
We were shopping in the Galleria and we just wanted a quick bite and My Goodness we ordered 2 slices and some Wings and it was so tasty and the employees were so friendly as well ..The background music was good as well..Good place Good prices
google avatar

Allyn D.

Yelp
We walked in and got seated right away despite there being a good amount of customers. There was an average noise level with background music and nice old fashion decoration. My husband and son liked the food. I ordered the carbonara and it was decent. I was hoping for a more traditional style with creamy egg yolks, but instead it tasted like white cream. It didn't taste bad or anything but I usually measure an Italian restaurant by how good the carbonara is if they do serve it. The pasta, though, was perfectly aldente. We still had a good time and I won't be opposed to coming back, but I won't be ordering the carbonara next time.

Yelp
It was date night and my bf chose Fontina. He called ahead to see if they did reservations or wait list and she put us down for 7:30. We waited about 15 minutes once we arrived, but the whole experience was really quick. We were seated by 7:45, received our entrees just after 8:00, and were walking out shortly after 8:30. They have a very streamlined process of getting people in and out which is great on a busy Saturday night! I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the food! The chicken parm was a large portion with a nice thin cutlet breaded well and crispy. I loved how thin the pasta was, and it seemed like they use a housemade marina which was pretty good as well. The scallop and shrimp fettuccini was very flavorful and perfectly cheesy in our opinion. If I could change anything about our experience I would opt out of the bruschetta. We didn't realize they gave complimentary bread and dip, but it honestly hit the spot better than the actual appetizer. I think mainly the bread on the bruschetta was just too thin for our liking, however the flavor was definitely there! They have so many dishes on the menu, I definitely see us coming back for another taste.

Yelp
After my first visit I'm already counting down the seconds until I have the opportunity to visit again! The service was excellent, food was delicious, and the ambiance was perfect. If you have no idea what to order I highly recommend the Fettuccine Gambari. The shrimp in the dish was juicy and tender. (I would totally order just a plate of shrimp if I could, that's how good it was.) The sauce was amazing as well! It had the perfect mix of being comforting, flavorful, and borderline addictive.

Yelp
Service is fantastic. Food phenomenal. We just came in trying a new restaurant and were very pleased with the drinks and food and ambiance and just overall great place! A must try!!!

Yelp
Fontina was nice place for an Italian dinner for 11 people. The hospitality was exceptional and the food had some key highlights. My review of 3 stars isn't because I think this place is bad, rather I think it could be better. But I'm coming from a place of eating Italian food all of the world and in major cities so I'm looking for something to be blown away. With that said, I really enjoyed the bruschetta. I recommend getting bruschetta with mussels so you can dip in the stock. The risotto was good, not great but good. The saphron added a lot of flavor. I recommend ending your night with the cheesecake, absolutely delicious.

Yelp
Must visit McKinney upscale Italian near the square called Fontina. Edgar was an excellent waiter very polite knowledgeable and provide wonderful table service. Our appetizer oven baked olives in lemon were so good. Our salads and pasta dishes were amazing and shareable, our drinks were perfect and limoncello cheesecake with lemoncello was perfect. Thank you so much we highly recommend and will return many more times.

Yelp
Atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. Food was pretty good as well! My husband and I love non chain restaurants, will be back!

Claudia J.

Yelp
Went for the first time motivated by the reviews. It's a pleasant setting and we anticipated a nice dinner. But from the start it was so disappointing. We ordered drinks and our server brought over bread and dipping oil. The oil was darker than I've ever seen and the amount of balsamic vinegar was overwhelming. I mentioned it to our server so he grudgingly brought us the vinegar in a separate bowl from the under seasoned garlic oil. Why? How can an Italian restaurant screw up something so simple? Got worse. Our server had poor ISL and he seemed annoyed. When we ordered drinks our server offered house liquor first. Strange. We upgraded to better brands. My drink was fine but my partner's was awful. We asked to have some time to enjoy our cocktails. Our moody server finally came back 20+ minutes later. We asked for our check, paid $30 for drinks and left to eat elsewhere. Will never go back.

Yelp
This place is so cute! The decor and artwork is gorgeous. The food and drinks were amazing too! Our server was very on point! Was attentive and quick. We were there for just barely 1.5 hours and then another server told us that there's a 1.5 hour limit and they needed the table, which I guess is fine, but they should definitely put that in the reservation confirmation or something.

Yelp
Went for a family birthday dinner. The ambiance was lovely and the service was exceptional. We ordered the olives and bruschetta for starters and they were both really good. For mains we ordered the fettuccine with scallops and shrimp, the lobster ravioli, spaghetti carbonara and the daily special and they were all delicious (the fettuccine was the best). For dessert we ordered the gelato and the lemon cello cake. Both were good but I recommend the cake as it was really special. Highly recommend this place, can't wait to go back!

Yelp
After going to the Heard Museum and Dinosaur Park we usually like to head over to Hutchin's BBQ but the line was really long and we did not feel like waiting for hours, so we headed to downtown McKinney and found this place which is highly rated on Yelp. It turned out to be fortuitous. Historic downtown McKinney has free public parking, which is great, and after parking off Tennessee we walked a few minutes to the restaurant. The ambiance is dark and sultry, definitely attractive and feels like I imagine Italy would feel (on the bucket list to do). We were seated and our server Arlene was immediately present to ask for our drink order. They have a very limited selection of draft beers (4) and none that are non-lagers, so we had to settle. After ordering the kid's spaghetti and meatballs, the wife and I shared a bruschetta and it was EXCELLENT. One of the best I have ever had. The flavors came together and the quality of ingredients was high. I loved it. After that, the wife and I shared the beet salad and again it was EXCELLENT. Not over-dressed, again the quality was high. Loved it. For the main course, I had the rigatoni with meat sauce and it was good, I liked it, but the sauce was bit more acidic than I usually like. The wife had the chicken marsala and really liked it. The chicken was pounded to thin and the sauce was very good. Lots of veggies. The potatoes were fingerlings instead of mashed. Our server was excellent, checking in with us often to see if we needed anything. This is a very good restaurant and we would definitely return. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that the red sauce was a bit acidic and the meatballs seem to have a lot of filler. The kid did not like them because she is used to mine which have minimal filler. But overall, an excellent meal and experience.

Yelp
Great food, great hospitality and a wonderful ambiance! The manager was so accommodating and welcoming!

Yelp
Delicious and great service. Has become our favorite place to eat. Cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The portions are huge. The desserts are divine. I usually have left overs which is never a bad deal!

Yelp
I love this restaurant for many, many reasons! First, the servers and the family who owns it are so kind and generous. I feel so welcomed every time I come! Second, the restaurant is beautiful! I love the rustic decor with a touch of greenery! And last, but not least, the food is just delicious!! You can tell it's made with love. I've tried and loved their pizzas, eggplant parmigiana, seafood pastas, and the bruschetta!! I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! Give it a try next time you're in downtown McKinney!

Christopher C.

Yelp
The staff were awesome and the food was delicious good atmosphere loved this place. It was a place we happened to see walking bye it's a place that you should at least try the food was perfect

Diana B.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful restaurant and staff. We've been twice now and the food has been excellent (don't pass on the lobster ravioli). My daughter celebrated her Sweet 16 this weekend they took amazing care of her & 9 friends. They were so easy to work with when making reservations for a large party also. Definitely recommend going and can't wait to go back!

Alaina M.

Yelp
The most amazing authentic Italian food! Everything was fresh and delicious. The Italian meatballs were cooked to perfection. Ambiance is perfect for date night. Lobster ravioli is a must try. I will definitely be eating here often!
google avatar

John E.

Yelp
The service and food is not consistent enough. The setting tends to be loud. It's generally busy, which is expected. But service is uneven and some menu items only average.
google avatar

Portia W.

Yelp
Great location staff hovers way too much trying to rush your order and dining experience to turn tables.
google avatar

Sheri A.

Yelp
All front of the house staff was so nice and made us feel like honored guests. The bring you fresh bread with flavored olive oil ahead of your meal. We tried a variety of dishes and everything was great. I thought their basic marinara sauce was perfectly balanced which is a must that so many Italian restaurants miss. I tried the siciliano salmon which has a picatta sauce. The salmon was perfectly cooked with a crisp crust and the sauce was wonderful. This is our new favorite Italian place.
google avatar

Annette M.

Yelp
The food and service were amazing. Our server, Mert was so accommodating with this Chicago girls modifications. Thank you so much!

Yelp
Visited last night when we had family in town. We love this place, the service is always top notch and very accommodating. I recommend getting the fettuccine shrimp and scallop, and my wife and 2 year old recommend the spaghetti. We all recommend the spinach dip - it's so tasty and cheesy. The inside is very welcoming and is perfect for a nice casual lunch/dinner.

S M.

Yelp
This was our first time here. We ordered the spinach dip, lasagna, spaghetti carbonara and chicken parmesan. It was all very delicious! If you haven't been, I recommend!

Traci P.

Yelp
Authentic Italian dishes served by Italians! It has always been delicious, well presented and perfect size portions! The wait staff are incredible!
google avatar

DT B.

Yelp
Great food. Great service. Great date night spot. Wine was on point! Live music was a great addition and part of the reason we dined- sadly, it ended at 730pm right when many of us were just entering for dinner. The carbonara was good - much too salty, thick and rich for my taste but Husband loved it. The eggplant parm was outstanding. Bruschetta was mediocre despite the glowing reviews. Will definitely return again to try some other things on the menu. Mussels looked awesome, the shrimp fettuccine also looks appetizing. Great downtown spot!
google avatar

Daniel T.

Yelp
This restaurant is a hidden gem near downtown McKinney. It's spacious with good ambiance. We had bruschetta and prawns pesto for appetizers. They were good. I ordered fettuccine gamberi as main entry; the shrimps were big and fresh. We rounded off the meal with Tiramisu and coffee. The food and the service were really good. We'll definitely come back again.
google avatar

Marisa M.

Yelp
The restaurant has a nice ambiance but overall a weird vibe. We came for lunch on the weekend and they don't serve lunch on the weekend, only brunch. And they were out of avocados so no avocado toast ‍ so weird vibe. The food was good but the service was kind of slow so it felt like forever before we could get out of there. Things happen, maybe it was just a weird day.
google avatar

Ethan Bryce W.

Yelp
Had reservations at Fontina Ristorante for Mother's Day today. First visit exceeded any expectations I had upon viewing the restaurant on Yelp. Don our server was on point with the menu suggestions. Starting off with the spinach dip. This spinach dip was unlike any I have had before, cheesy garlic spinach bliss. The Sicilian pizza was also impeccable with a Portnoy worthy crust still maintaining perfect balance of structural integrity and fluffiness. All that to say the interior is beautiful with unique lighting and live foliage making it feel as though I'm not in McKinney. Highest of recommendations for Fontina Ristorante.
google avatar

Sarah L.

Yelp
Stopped here for an evening with friends before enjoying the beautiful downtown McKinney. Decided to go with wine and apps and it was a good choice! Jade took care of us and on her recommendation we tried the Bruschetta and Spinach Dip - both amazing - and added in a little protein with the Meatballs which made it a perfect combo for the three of us!
google avatar

Dan R.

Yelp
Try the Eggplant Parmesan. We had that and lasagna. Both quite enjoyable. For Tuesday night at 7 the dining room was busy. Service seemed to handle it fine. In the mood for Italian I'll recommend Fontina.
google avatar

Jaci G.

Yelp
Better than we expected! The water was super refreshing, the bread tasted fresh, we all ate every single bite of food on our plate! Loved the decor and how well everything flowed together. Our waitress was quick and friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
Very nice on the inside. Clean restroom. The service was great from start to finish. Came with a family of four which includes an 8 yr old and a 12 yr old. Started off with bread and an olive oil, balsamic vinegar and garlic dip. 8 yr old loved his kid's chicken Alfredo which was a pretty good size portion. The rest ordered lasagna, chicken parmesean, and a penne pasta dish that had Italian sausage, sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms in a tomato sauce. Everything was delicious. Pasta cooked just right. Did I mention service was awesome? Brought out bread multiple times, kept checking on us. Highly recommend.

Andrea R.

Yelp
The food was not bad by any means, just very okay. It's a very cute and romantic atmosphere. Prices were ridiculously expensive. If you're going to be charging $29 for an entree, it better be spot on. I ordered a bourbon old fashion. Way too many bitters. Completely ruined the cocktail. We started with the meatballs for the appetizer. The balls had a lovely pillowy texture but were way too salty. Due to how fast they arrived at the table, they were probably being kept on a warming tray and over reduced causing them to be salty. The fried pork chop entree was very okay. Bland and the dish as whole didn't work. The pork chop itself was properly cooked however. I just wish it had been seasoned properly. The chicken parm was overly salty, I believe that the sauce that was being used had over reduced. The angel hair pasta might as well been mashed potatoes. It was beyond over cooked. Now angel hair pasta is a difficult pasta to cook on a good day, as it's easy to over cook. It was an interesting choice to pair it with the hearty parm. You're an Italian restaurant, over cooking pasta is a huge no no. Service was okay. Friendly but you'll need to ask for anything you need. Normally wait staff, will stop by and ask you if you need anything else. Not here. You'll literally need to call someone over. Do not expect someone to come and ask you how you're doing or if you need anything. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back. Bland food and bad cocktails. Over priced with mediocre service. With so many other good options within walking distance, I'd really take a good luck at your prices and food. Best of luck Fontina.

Yelp
We had dinner for the first time here with friends who had been a few times. We were glad to be seated upstairs where away from the hustle and bustle on the main floor. Fontina looked to be short staffed that evening, as evidenced by our 2 hour experience. The crust on the margarita pizza we ordered was undercooked and didn't seem to be hand tossed. Our main courses took over an hour to come out of the kitchen and one of our dishes was cold when it got to the table. Tables around us were left dirty after guests left and one of the tables had a half full bus tub left on it for at least 30 minutes. The servers and manager were super nice and helped "make it right", but only after we were able to grab someone to let them know about our experience. Since our friends recommended the place, we're hoping that we just happened to catch the restaurant on an off night.

Yelp
My entire family of 10 went here and everyone loved their meal. Every single person raved. Chicken parm and seafood risotto are family favorites. Ambiance is great. Service is excellent! I cannot say enough good things about this place.

Adriana C.

Yelp
Great service and nice atmosphere! I could see this place being good for a date or special occasion. Great quality but overpriced for the quantity. Spinach dip was 10/10 I got the chicken parm, the marinara was amazing! Family liked their food, just found the serving size a little lacking. Would still return!
google avatar

Jamie F.

Yelp
We order the seafood risotto every time. It tastes amazing every time! So consistent. Love the atmosphere. Owners are awesome! One of our favorite local stops.

Yelp
Favorite date night in the North Dallas area! If you're outside of McKinney, it is worth the drive! Loved the atmosphere--such a beautiful vibe. And our service was great. We were seated right away and got good recommendations on wine while we enjoyed the complimentary bread and oil. Our party got risotto, truffle ravioli, lasagna, and chicken piccata. Everyone loved what they ordered, but I think the truffle ravioli was some of the best pasta I've ever had. I initially wanted to try the lobster ravioli, but it was very popular and already sold out (will have to try it next time). I don't write reviews often, but I knew I had to come home and write a review of this gem! I'm so glad to support an amazing, independent restaurant in our area. Definitely coming back ASAP. I can't stop thinking about this place!
