SNAP Cuts Could Be Disastrous for Alaska | Eater

"The campaign coordinator brought on to support SNAP funding advocacy emphasizes that Alaska’s combination of seasonal employment, very high rural costs of living, and dependence on subsidized food makes the state especially vulnerable to stricter federal work requirements and added paperwork; while waivers have provided some protection, the organization warns that proposed Farm Bill changes could be life‑threatening for remote residents and that the state’s administrative capacity is already strained." - Jody Ellis

This is NOT a Food Bank. Its a food distribution center. They provided a list of all the food banks in anchorage, offered coffee/tea and even let me use the bathroom. Complimentary candy as well. Friendly staff.

Donated a lot food. I was not even aware they could weigh it before that. Turned out we had 94 lbs of food we donated. Makes we want to donate more and try to make it to 100lbs. Very helpful employee who helped us too

They do a ton of service projects and hunger relief events around the valley. My experience volunteering for them has been very delightful and friendly.

Yelp
I think about the Food Bank when it gets colder and I try to donate twice in the fall/winter. We hit Costco and bought 20 Doz. fresh eggs. It's one of their items they always are in need of. The protein in eggs and it's countless uses in various recipes is welcome but since it's perishable so it has to delivered to their Spar Ave. location. They accept dry goods and we bought some Spaghetti Noodles to give too from Costco along with some canned goods from home that gently went out of expiration. Peace, love and a full belly to the folks here in Alaska!

Yelp
Once you find Spar Avenue on the map, it's an easy way to donate food where it can be distributed to where it's needed most.
