Korea Food is nightmare. The Donkats served with not much fresh salad. They required tips on POC even no water service and no serving. I asked them a cup of water but they said the water service is not mandatory and buy one if you need. Please be careful when you choose Hansik. You have another choice pf kind and fresh food served korean restaurant.

Google
Decent Korean food court with the basics… sul lung tang soup, jajangmiong, mandol, donkatsu, etc. Ample seating.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were running errands and decided to grab a quick bite. We ordered the large plate of Jaengban Jajang for $19.45. This plate was huge and was more than enough for the 2 of us to share! We really loved the chewy noodle texture and the incredibly delicious sauce! It came with shrimp, pork, baby corn, carrots, cabbage, zucchini, and lots of onions! My only complaint was too much onions and not enough of the other veggies. The restaurant is located in the food court inside of Zion supermarket. There were plenty of tables and chairs. Nothing impressive about the ambiance, but at least it was clean. We enjoyed our shared plate and continued with grocery shopping afterwards.

Yelp
I've had Paik's Noodles in LA before, and my wife and I were craving Korean food during our weekend trip in San Diego. I was specifically craving jajangbap, and I noticed there was a Hong Kong Ban Jum at the Zion Market in Kearny Mesa. So my wife and I stopped in the food court at Zion Market and ordered Korean food for lunch. My wife had the spicy jjampong and I had the jajangbap without shrimp. The portions for both are very generous. The jajangbap also came with pickles and another side soup. I loved the jajang sauce and the omelette. The rice portion was a bit small for my taste but it was still amazing. Overall it was a solid lunch and I would definitely come back here.

Yelp
Hong Kong Bam Jum is located inside Zion Market's food court and is a good spot to grab Korean food when you want something fast. There are tables available to eat but I ordered to go. My food was made and packed in 10 minutes after I ordered, so they work really fast. I ordered the Jajangmyun (black bean sauce with noodles) and the Jajangbap (black bean sauce with rice and an egg omelette on top) and they were good portions and kept well during the drive home. The dish also came with their yellow radish as well. We ended up liking the noodles more than the rice dish but both have the same sauce on top. Overall, this is where you want to go to go when you're craving Korean style Jajangmyun.

Yelp
It's important not to go grocery shopping on an empty stomach! ;-) I tried the Gochu Jjamppong Noodles on the recommendation of the cashier. I was not disappointed. They are nice and spicy and the broth flavor is delicious. Maybe not as much seafood/pork as advertised, but very filling on the whole.

Stephanie K.

Yelp
Really really tasty and authentic jajangmyeon. When I'm in the area grocery shopping I will make a special trip into Zion just to get noodles here. It's a cute little spot tucked away in a food court but don't be fooled - the quality and taste is superior to restaurant jajangmyeon! There's also a super nice guy at the register who genuinely wants to ensure everyone loves their food. He even checks with customers before they close to see if they need a box or want anything else!! If you want a hidden gem, this is it!

Malia P.

Yelp
Great value for the food. I ordered jjmyeon and it was only $11 for a portion large enough for two small servings. The taste is decent with small bits of pork and veggies. The noodles were chewy and bouncy. Watching all the mukbangs with people chomping down on jjajamyeon had me craving some for real. This was a quick meal to satisfy.

Andrea F.

Yelp
The noodles here never disappoint. Their noodles are fresh and perfect chewiness, never soggy. They are the busiest food stall in this food court which is always a good sign. People are usually lining up as soon as it opens at 11:30am.

Lea L.

Yelp
How busy it gets on a Sunday 1PM. Their food/noodles are very delicious! This is inside Zion Market.

Ann Q.

Yelp
My favorite place for JJajangmeon and OMG their scallion omelette!! This place specifically in Zion SD makes THE BEST JJajangmeon and then you pair that with their scallion omelette for extra protein and the flavor OMG!!! Omelette on the side is off the menu, it usually comes with the fried rice dish. But if you ask they will allow it and charge you per market price. Dunk the omelette in the JJajangmeon sauce "you're welcome" I've been to a couple other chains but they just aren't as good as this place. Water is self service behind the cashier.

Yelp
I normally don't give 5 star places that often for restaurants inside supermarkets, but I had such a great experience I had to give it a 5 star. Great service. Big portions of food. Authentic and didn't skimp out on anything. (However, keep in mind I can only speak for the food I got.) The service here was amazing. The staff were extremely nice. They all had smiles on their faces and the cashier was engaging. Great vibes to start out with. I haven't seen such happy staff in any restaurant in a while. This was on a Saturday in the middle of the day too. For food, I got the jajang bap and oh boy did they give a big serving. This includes the egg, jajang sauce, rice, and a side of seafood soup. The eggs were fluffy, the jajang sauce was full of meaty flavor, rice was cooked to my liking, and the soup was just delicious. I couldn't have asked for a more hearty, fast, delicious meal. I'm definitely going here again in the future. 10/10 for my experience this day. However, keep in mind I've only tried the jajang bap. I will look forward to trying other items on the menu!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places in the Zion Market food court, I love their spicy seafood soup (jjanmppong)! I recently contracted covid, so I've been quarantining & recovering at home, and my parents were kind enough to pick up an order of the spicy seafood soup and drop off to me. This soup is the perfect sick-day soup! Hot, spicy, flavorful and super comforting. I love the thick noodles. I also enjoy the kimchi, pork, squid, and mussels in it. The portion is huge, I usually eat it for 2 meals. I always crave this soup on a cold day or if I'm sick.

Angela W.

Yelp
Such a quick, comforting meal! Hong Kong Ban Jum is located in the Zion Market food court. I did a circuit around the food court and didn't find anything that could beat a hot, delicious bowl of $12 noodle soup! I got the #1 jjamppong and it absolutely hit the spot. There were a good number of clams and the squid was really tender. My only complaint would be that some of the veggies did not taste fresh and were bitter. Thankfully this did not affect the soup, which was so hearty and warming, with a slight kick. I like that it was a little bit thick, it really sticks to your ribs. Though I burned the roof of my mouth slurping down the piping hot noodles, it was absolutely worth it! Definitely eat the yellow pickled radish alongside your food, it keeps it from getting too rich. This is definitely going to be my go to food court pick for Zion market!

Justin S.

Yelp
Thought we were going to an actual restaurant from the description. Lo and behold, it's a food court in a Korean grocery with 4-5 different choices of food stalls and a common area. For take out food court it was fine. My mistaken expectations stole moment however. On the interesting side this place had 10:1 the number of people getting food from them. Literally they were busy putting out to go dinners and food court meals - over 150 in an hour. The other 4-5 food stalls in the same time would be hard pressed for 20 dinners combined. It was very interesting to observe!

Kenneth A.

Yelp
Had the j jamppong bap. It was pretty good. Nice flavor, noodles were on the softer side. Radish was fantastic. I would eat here again. Nice operation when compared tho their neighbors. Lol. Come try it

Chidozie E.

Yelp
So I stopped by to try this dish after watching Extraordinary Attorney Woo on NETFLIX. I saw this dish being eaten a few times and it peaked my interest. I ordered the jjajjangmyun noodles which was good. It was on the sweet side. It's a solid dish and didn't disappoint.

Yueming Q.

Yelp
I ordered the seafood noodles and small dumplings from FanTuan App. They are really on time and I love how they packed the food. They put noodles and soups in separate bowls so the doodles are still chewy and tasty after the delivery. The seafood noodles are a little spicy which I love it. The portion is pretty big as well. The dumplings are fine, not amazing but not bad. I definitely love their noodles.

Yelp
I use to not understand why Koreans including my wife like Korean Chinese food so much. Had it multiple times in the US and Korea. Was just ok. Broke down and decided to give Hong Jong Ban Jum a chance since it is a branch of Baek Jong-Won chain. Also I needed to pick up dinner with no plans. Had jajangmyeon, tang su yuk, and Jjampong. The three main dishes of Korean Chinese food. All were amazingly good. Tans su yuk had great texture, good amount of seafood in the jjampong and the soup and jjajang were all really flavorful. The amount of food was good. The price was also reasonable for nowadays. Something like 42 for all three dishes with tax. And the service was good. Quick and friendly. Great place to get to go food after weekend shopping at Zion. Made my wife happy also. Double win. Enough food for 2 meals for the 2 of us.

Cindy T.

Yelp
Got the gochu jjampong noodles (spicy jjampong noodles) and it was amazing!!! It was very yummy, perfect level of spice, and such a great deal! The portion size was huge for only less than $13, and I now have leftovers for another full meal. I highly recommend this place! The service is also amazing, and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

Jason K.

Yelp
If you have not tried jja jang myun (black bean sauce noodles) and/or jjam bong (spicy sea food noodle soup), you are missing out on one of the culinary powerhouses of Korean-Chinese cuisine. There was another restaurant in Kearny Mesa that I used to go to for take out, but unfortunately they closed down. I have gotten both the jja jang myun and jjam bong here and they both are delicious. There is really nothing out there in my opinion that tastes like jja jang myun. It's something you need to try out, cannot be conveyed in simple words. Jjam bong as well. This place is located inside Zion supermarket in the food court. There is plentiful parking which is not to be said for most places in Kearny Mesa. Service is quick and you can see them busting out the wok with flames while preparing the ingredients! Give this place a shot if you want to try the two forementioned dishes.

Daniela A.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try the food at the Zion Market for so long and I finally made my way over here. I came to Hong Kong Ban Jum and tried the Jajangmyeon which I have been wanting to try for a very long time! It was so good! The noodles were so nice and bouncy and fun to eat and the flavor was so good, it was topped with cucumbers which made the dish so fresh! I loved it! The food was also ready about 8 minutes after placing my order and the woman who took my order was so nice!

Verona M.

Yelp
I loved that they used thicker noodles and that this was extremely saucy and they didn't skimp on it. This was flavorful and pretty good... but let's talk about negatives; the food was EXTREMELY cold. Not "cold from delivery", but cold like it's been sitting in the fridge for an hour or two. The sauce was cold, the noodles were cold. Not sure what went on here or if they gave me leftovers sitting in the fridge? That's sure how it tasted like. I usually don't expect much, as long as it's decent and WARM. I don't even mind if it's cooled down from being delivered, but when it's refrigerator cold - I definitely think that's a quality control issue that needs to be addressed.

David P.

Yelp
Standard black bean noodle and spicy seafood soup. Tang su yuk (sweat and sour pork) It's hard to come across in San Diego as there's not a lot of restaurants that sell it. It's good for what we have here but definitely way better joints in la.

Imee C.

Yelp
This place is located at the food court inside Zion. We ordered the Jjamppong Bap and Jajang Bap. The jjamppong bap looked intimidatingly hot but it was not/. It had a bite to it but tolerable. This soup was very tasty and delicious. The jajang bap was also veery delicious. It was rice topped with eggs and the jajang, which looks like it was made with oyster sauce and with vegetables. Very delicious as well.

Yumi C.

Yelp
Solid place for black bean noodles and tang soo yook. We took it to go and everything was delicious! The jjampong has a good amount of seafood in it as well but wouldn't recommend if you can't handle spice.

Nyssa S.

Yelp
ordered jjamppong ($11.35), it's a fairly large portion and taste is average. there are a lot of veggies and not that much seafood/meat inside in comparison. I love this dish though so I still really enjoyed it! it was very busy with a long line on a sunday afternoon ~2pm, I waited 30 mins after ordering so be prepared to wait if you go during peak times note: it's inside zion market's food court parking: plenty available seating: plenty available

Fiona N.

Yelp
I love jjamppong!! I walked by and had to order it even we ordered fried chicken from another shop. The jjamppong was really good. I love how it didn't contain as much msg as other shops. Although, I do wished there were more seafood. Sweet and sour pork was just ok. I'm going to skip it next time.

Sunshine L.

Yelp
This place used to be good when they first opened, but the past couple of times I've gone it has not been good. One time, the jjajangmein noodles were cold. And then my last visit, the sauce didn't taste fresh. The whole food court doesn't seem as busy as it used to be. And of course customers will notice if they've been served food that's not fresh. Out of all the business in the food court, this one has been here longest. I hope they can improve and stick around.

Jennifer A.

Yelp
I love love love this place and cAnt believe I didn't know about it earlier there black bean noodles are Just amazing with black beans, onions and pork, it is also a huge potion, it was very yummy in my tummy, they also have the fried pork that I new to order next time and also the stir fried noodles, this is inside zion, sooo so many choices, will definitely keep in coming, I was watching k drama and they kept on having it in the show soo I was craving it to see what it was about, it was amazing for my first time, love it :)

Amanda C.

Yelp
They're Tang Soo Yuk is sooo good! Even after ordering Take Out and having it delivered all the way to the Mira Mesa area! Jjampong is also solid as well--thoroughly surprised

Solomon H.

Yelp
The food is good, but the service is terrible. If you see a Korean lady with glasses, expect to see a lousy attitude from her if you take more than a second to order. You are asking for additional items; she will give you a hard time. I wonder if the ownership changed, it was not like this.

Samantha W.

Yelp
Hong Kong Banjum is one of my favorite jjajangmyeon chains. Their noodles are always super chewy and fresh. Their black bean sauce is also one of the best. It's thick and super rich in flavor. I can usually share a bowl with my mom and both of us will be full. The location of this HK Banjum is great. Located in the Zion Marketplace food court, you can restaurant-hop to your heart's content. Due to its food court nature, this HK Banjum's service is also really speedy compared to their sit-down restaurant locations.

Jeana K.

Yelp
I love coming here for jjajang myun and tang su yook. The noodles are thick and chewy. The tang su yook is so light and crispy, also soaks up the sweet and sour sauce so well. 5/5 recommend

Michael P.

Yelp
During covid, I wanted to learn more about Korea culture. Watching TV, learning Hangul and trying out food, two dishes I always want to try. This market of course has all the Korean essentials. There is also a food court in here. Hong kong banjum had jjajangmyeon and jjamppong. I tried jjajangmyeon but didn't write a review the day I had. It was good, black bean sauce with pork bits and noodles is amazing. The Jjamppong was also good and I should've took the rice combo with that. The prices were good, wish hey had a bit more noodles with the Jjamppong. I want to seek and find the perfect Korean restaurant. Any recommendation please let me know. In the mean time I'll learn to speak Korean and embrace the culture. Hopefully I can speak it while I order.

Christa C.

Yelp
I love the noodles at Hong Kong Ban Jum! Who knew that such fun flavors could be so readily available in a food court? When my mom visits from out of town, she'll specifically request to go to Zion Market for a comforting order of jjajangmyeon. My personal favorite is the bokkeummyeon, also a noodle dish, except served with a combination of shrimp, beef, and lots of veggies. Their signature is their thick chewy noodles - the texture is so fun and addictive! My order came out super fast (less than 10min) which was so convenient, as I was trying to get a quick lunch on-the-go. While my food was on the oilier/greasier side, it was full of yummy flavors (and I actually ended up using the excess sauce later that day, to flavor my sauteed spinach when cooking up dinner). While I love that I can depend on a quick yet flavorful meal at Hong Kong Ban Jum, they'll be a go-to whenever my parents can visit again (when traveling finally becomes normal again)! During a challenging year for so many, my mom truly can't wait until her next bowl of jjajangmyeon!

Arlenie R.

Yelp
Yo this place is bomb! I love their jjajangmyeon, jjampong, and tangsuyuk. Whenever I'm craving any of those, I just hit this joint up. They're located in the Zion market. As for parking, there's a huge parking lot where you can park for free.

Jules W.

Yelp
Quick service and great food. They packaged everything up nicely to avoid any spills and the portions were large. Nicely spiced and flavorful. I had the jajangmyeon and the gochu jampong.

Momo B.

Yelp
FOOD COURT NOODLE TREAT Their popular dish is black sauce Ja Jang Noodles. Ideal generous portion but slightly underwhelming in flavor. IMO The next time I would order a side dish of kimchi. Good value and quickly served in case you're short of time.

J W.

Yelp
Highly recommend!!! Came here 2wice and very consistent. Ordered Jajang rice and the spicy fried noodles.

Maggie V.

Yelp
I got the Jjajang myum and it was so salty i could barely finish it. Also the service is terrible!!! The Korean lady with glasses had a really lousy attitude. My husband and I were deciding on what to order and she was giving us a hard time. She did the same thing the the lady after me because the old lady couldn't hear well, the cashier started rudely yelling at her if she was going to order or not.

John 2.

Yelp
Ok I've eaten here many times and it has been a hit or a miss with jjajangmyun! I don't know if it is a change in ownership or if the time I went or... but I stopped by around 11:30am for lunch on Thursday, Jan 16th. The sauce was amazing and fresh! The noodles were chewy and tasted almost handmade. With every bite I was wondering why it was so good as I've eaten here many times and it has never been this good. I hope the next time will be the same!

Tony B.

Yelp
I just ate in Hong Kong ban jum in the Zion food court. I. Have to say I was highly impressed. We ordered noodles clams and Korean style egg. The food was excellent and savory. Jackson, Alex and Chris are wonderful hosts and excellent chefs when it comes to the Korean food dining experience. Such wonderful flavors. It was our first dining experience here. I am giving this eatery FIVE (5) stars for great Korean food and excellent service. Jackson,Alex, and Chris are a credit to our eating experience. Thanks. Randy

Soo K.

Yelp
What happened to this restaurant? This place used to be good but when I ordered the seafood noodle soup (jjampong) it lacked ingredients with a few mussels and a few strips as pork as the protein. Where's the rest?? The scant vegetables were diced small. And too salty. I no longer recommend. I want my money back.

Misty A.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place! Everything I've tried has exceeded my expectations. The service is also impeccable, everyone is so helpful. My new favorite dish is the JJAMPPONG. Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup, OMG! Life changing. I'm not Korean so I can't compare it to anything but I was in heaven especially with the broth. The broth had so many layers of flavor with a spice level in perfect harmony - not too spicy, not too mild - PERFECT! One bowl can feed 2 people easily and we even had some leftovers to take home. For UNDER $10, this soup is a hidden little gem that you MUST TRY!

Sarah H.

Yelp
Love this place! Always a necessary stop after a grocery shopping trip is completed. I've tried the Jjampong, Jajangmyeon Noodles, and Jajang Bap -- all super delicious. Portion sizes are quite generous as well.

Gloria L.

Yelp
The best jjajangmyeon in San Diego in our opinion. I love that they have the jaengban version, which has seafood in it and serves up to 4 people. Service is always very good and nice~

Brandon C.

Yelp
Holy Mackeral! Wow! This restaurant at the food court at the Zion Marketplace is a real gem! Now I understand why there are lines and lines of people at this place and why when I walk around the food court, soooo many people are eating this one dish that looks really yummy and appears very popular! My wife and I both love Korean food (we ourselves are not Korean, we are Thai and Vietnamese) and love spicy food so we decided to give it a try and order the Gochi Jjampongg (pardon any misspelling), which is a Korean spicy seafood noodle soup with mussels and squids and beef (shreds) and kimchi. It came with a side of yummy fresh made pickled korean daikon (in slices) too. Wow! The first taste of the spicy broth was super yummy. Its now our favorite go-to place for this Korean dish anytime we are in the area, or on a date, or doing Asian groceries food runs, heh heh. I highly recommend this place! The customer service was also excellent. The ambience is good, for food court standards. They clean the tables regularly and take away the trays, etc. regularly as well. The menu prices is great in value as well. Plenty of seating but it tends to get packed. Restrooms are nearby. Anyways, the food is excellent! 6 stars out of 5!!! We will be coming back as well as trying their entire menu in the next weeks!

Rizz L.

Yelp
Found inside of Zion Market's food area. Their jajjangmyeon/bap is my favorite in SD. The jajjangbap comes with a small cup of the spicy seafood soup. Love going here for a quick meal

Liz K.

Yelp
I've been craving Korean/Chinese food and unfortunately there aren't many options in San Diego. I live a bit away from Kearny Mesa so ordered w Uber Eats and it totally hit the spot. The jaengban jjajang were more than enough for two people + tangsuyuk was awesome. Obvi it's delivery so reheated it up since I love my food piping hot. A little microwave of noodles and the tangsuyuk sauce and it was great.

Axel K.

Yelp
ok restauran, taste. Got my order wrong. just kind of food you'd expect from food court.

Gordon H.

Yelp
In the mood for jajangmyeon. So the place definitely delivered! Black bean was saucy and the noodles even for to go was oily enough but not too oily that it taste good and did not stick together. Pro tip is to order and go shopling for side dishes while waiting.
