13 Essential Dallas Mediterranean Restaurants | Eater Dallas

"Perhaps the most reasonably-priced restaurant of this entire map, Food From Galilee in Snider Plaza is owned by a family from Palestine. Since 1991, they’ve been keeping Dallasites plied with hummus, gyro, shawarma, falafel, stuffed grape leaves — all the traditional favorites." - Rachel Pinn

This neighborhood restaurant delivers authentic, homemade recipes that will make you feel satisfied and happy that you came. They recently updated the interior to elevate the atmosphere while keeping the unpretentious and intimate vibe. The service is good but sometimes feels a bit slow to get going. Like most places, their prices have gone up but it’s still completely worth it.

Google
We ordered the beef shawarma and it tasted good. The place needs more vibe, it feels "sad" you can hear the freezer more than the music. The gentleman with the cap which I think it was the owner was friendly but the other lady not really. She gave us a cup that had a whole and we ended up getting wet and she did not offered any help even though she was aware of the situation and we were the only ones in the restaurant. They need to really improve their customer service and atmosphere ... also they only give you disposable cups which make it feel like a cheap experience.

Google
Very disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. It’s located in great part of town, but the place feels very run down. The bathroom is through the kitchen and to the left. Dolma and Cabbage rolls had very little meat and mostly rice. Kibe was good. Baba Gonoush was very mediocre. Been to a lot of Mediterranean restaurants and this one is close to the bottom of the list. Lunch For $47 for 2 people, should have been much better.

Google
Amazing food! Great service. Everything was fresh and delicious. They were patient with all of the questions we had and were accommodating on the food allergy issues we needed to solve. We had the falafel appetizer and my daughter woofed them down with gusto. I had the Shawarma platter with baba ghanoush and lentil soup. Simply amazing. Tahini dipping sauce was pleasant. Amazing quaint find! Next time we’re in Texas we will be back!

Brian Holland

Google
Fantastic, authentic Middle Eastern food. The Mezze platter was all wonderful, as was the gyro. The best baba ghanoush, falafel, and fattoush salad I’ve had in this country. Cozy restaurant with great service.

Google
Amazing legitimate Mediterranean restaurant! You can tell this is family owned, the service is so friendly and quick! I recommend ordering to share so you can try everything. The kabbi was amazing as was the falafel those are a must. As sides get the rice (very crunchy) and the hummus. For dessert I recommend the walnut baklava. Prices are low.

Google
Best Lebanese food not just in Dallas but probably anywhere—a huge asset for the neighborhood that I hope never changes. I certainly hope they don’t listen to some of the reviews calling the space “run down”—the whole point is this is a top quality neighborhood restaurant with class and authenticity, not a slick PE-backed popup chain. It was the favorite lunch spot of Stanley Marcus (cofounder of Neiman Marcus), whose taste assuredly exceeded that of anyone who would complain about having to walk through the kitchen to reach the bathroom.

Google
Let me tell y’all! We were impressed with how cozy and cute this place is . Im picky when it comes to Mediterranean food this place exceed our expectations, this restaurant is authentic Palestinian food. The kubbeh was delicious and the chicken kabob was excellently cooked. The customer place was also amazing , very friendly staff and attentive. Will definitively be back thank you so much for everything..

Yelp
I recently decided to try cozy Mediterranean spot and was genuinely impressed. I always have seen it but never tried it - AWESOME.! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and you can tell it's a family-owned place by how welcoming and attentive the service is. I had the lamb kabob with rice--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. We also shared the hummus and gyro meat with salad, and everything was excellent. The portions were generous, and the ingredients tasted fresh and authentic. If you're looking for a relaxed place with great food and genuine hospitality, I highly recommend this spot. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Food was average and prices are not. It's clean but no ambiance Falafel had no parsley - hummus was ok but skimpy serving Service was good

Yelp
We came here tonight for the first time and it was truly phenomenal. My photos do not do it justice. This is a neighborhood gem we have had our eye on for years!! I was craving hummus and it was just so delicious. Make sure you try the hummus, lamb kabob, I ordered a wonderful salad with gyro & make sure you try the baklava!!!! We will be back and we already can't wait. Family owned and it is so special.

Yelp
I'm obsessed with Dolma grape leaves aka my absolute favorite Mediterranean dish, so I had to try the Dolma meal from Galilee. I ordered it to-go, and it did not disappoint! The grape leaves were flavorful, the salad was fresh, and the sauces were amazing, perfectly tying everything together. The takeout process was normal, parking was semi-difficult, but understandable on a week day lunch. Overall, It was a solid meal!

Taylor D.

Yelp
Food was amazing! The service was really wonderful too! I had some delicious grape leaves and would recommend them to anyone to try. The desserts were also very yummy. I had a great overall experience and would definitely recommend!

Yelp
The food here was very good! My girlfriend found this place and it is a lovely little hole in the wall place. It wasn't that crowded when we went. The food was very good but not the best I've had. I'd recommend if someone wants good middle eastern food!
google avatar

Michelle B.

Yelp
I love this place! Tastes so good! Kind of a hole in the wall but well worth a visit. The service is more "no-nonsense" which is fine!! I don't think people need to be super fake happy like other restaurants are when taking your food order. The food speaks for itself. Parking is no problem for dinner but can be tricky for lunch times. The baklava is amazing! The gyro tastes great! We also love the vermicelli soup. Will be becoming a regular soon. :)

Yelp
Lovely. Elegant. Familiar. Nestled in Snider Plaza is this subtle gem. How did I miss it? So cozy. The atmosphere is welcoming and a table is warmly waiting for you. Gentle flavors, smiles and repeat customers grace refill this space. Yelp reviews drew me in. It's good isn't it. Cozy home kitchen table experience and bring a friend.

Yelp
Genuinely the best food ever. It's a small, quaint family owned restaurant that's been around for decades. Definitely check them out! The service is great and food is stellar

Bruce F.

Yelp
Food and service are great. We have gone there for as long as it has been there. I worked in Tunisia and Greece a lot. This is a family, generational. Food is carefully made. Where else can you get smoked Eggplant dip. Yum. It is all so nice... .generously portioned. We love it every time.
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
Came here after my bridal makeup trial with my mom. Food was really really good. Loved the gyro as it was not greasy like you get at other places and it was packed with flavor. The service... well the guy at the front counter... I don't know if he was having a bad day, didn't like us, or it's a cultural thing... but I'll leave it at that... It's a very small establishment so the food came out really fast and was really fresh. Plates are a decent size for the price. Nice and quite little place in a popping part of town. I do recommend trying this place if you haven't.
google avatar

michelle p.

Yelp
We were in the mood for a gyro so we found this place nearby that had a variety of items at different price points. We tried a gyro and a kefta sandwich. Both were very good, fresh, and filling. The service was order at the counter/pay at the counter type place. All in all...it was good!
google avatar

Arran D.

Yelp
This place seriously never misses. Prompt, friendly service with delicious food. There's ample space between tables so you don't feel cramped and it feels pretty cozy inside. The food is delicious and always comes out warm. It will always be worth braving the chaos of Snider Plaza parking to enjoy a meal here.

Alix J.

Yelp
Great food at a great price. They are friendly and every takeout order is 100% perfect.
google avatar

Neha M.

Yelp
Falafels are light and fluffy. Pita soft and perfect. I also tried the chicken gyro platter. These were seasoned nicely and tender. I felt the portions were kind of small - but I enjoyed everything and the service is exceptional too
google avatar

Yelp
I can't begin to describe how special this restaurant is for me and my husband! We came here 12 years ago on one of your first dates and have been coming back almost every weekend since! The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing and the service is phenomenal. I highly recommend the baba ghanoush platter. It's smokey and delicious! I also love their light and fluffy falafel. This is my favorite restaurant and we look forward to coming for our Friday night dinner for years.

Jon C.

Yelp
Just superb quality. The falafel is possibly the best I've ever had--gold and crispy on the outside, light and fluffy inside. My 2 year old son loved it. Beef shawarma is tender and perfectly marinated. I'm really blown away and can't wait to come back.
google avatar

Diana D.

Yelp
I took my Palestinian step father to lunch. He was so pleased with the home-made taste of everything. The owner came out and they chatted in Arabic. I was so inspired by the food that I tried to recreate the cabbage rolls the next weekend. Um, they weren't even close. This is the real deal...so much more "homemade" than your typical Middle Eastern fair. If you want authentic, this is the place to go.
google avatar

Anna A.

Yelp
Pros: good pricing, the vegetarian appetizer tray comes with generous portions and good variety (hummus, baba ghanoush, falafel, pita, veggie sticks, dolma), falafel was very light and tasty, everything was prepared well and tasted good Cons: parking is quite difficult on weekends, no dish really stood out to me, so it doesn't feel worth the drive/hassle The interior is small and quiet, good music, nice service. I'd definitely recommend especially if you live nearby! Or maybe try on weekdays. Note that lunch prices are lower than dinner prices.

Nic B.

Yelp
Absolute hidden gem. Took the family here to celebrate my wife's birthday as food from the Middle East is her favorite. Simple, quaint storefront space but there is a reason this place has been around for decades. Food was incredible and so authentic. We had kabobs & gyros. We tried the hummus & the falafel...absolutely to die for. Light, airy and crispy. The pita bread was fantastic. And all of it was really, really affordable. Family of 4 ate so much FANTASTIC Middle Eastern food and spend right at $60. The table next to us was a family that's been coming weekly for over 20 years. Service was great, friendly and fast. We will definitely be back! What a gem!

Levi C.

Yelp
As authentic and as delightful as home cooking Mediterranean food goes! We love the atmosphere that is quaint and the experience is always worthwhile. Tonight was standing room only! Bring your friends and family and order one of everything.
google avatar

Tremaine H.

Yelp
This place was so cute & cozy! My friend & I were wanting some Mediterranean food & with the name like Galilee we just knew it would be authentic lol! This place is nestled in a line of store fronts, it really looks like the town in Gilmore girls. We walked in & all eyes were on us! As soon as you open the door your in the middle of the 800sq Ft dining room. Which was a shock for a introvert like me. As far as the menus it was kinda limited for me being a pescatarian. The Baba ghanoush was really flavorful the hummus was sub par, However the baklava was amazing! The customer service was excellent! Definitely a experience!

Michael L.

Yelp
Good hummus, good pita, great chicken schwarma. I like to imagine this is the place Tony Starke was talking about at the end of the first Avengers
google avatar

Delaney D.

Yelp
Unbelievable Falafels and Chicken Shawarma!! Love this place!!! Service is also great!

Lucy J.

Yelp
I just love this place. Probably the best deal in all of Dallas for a good quality meal. High quality food at INCREDIBLE prices. The gyro sandwiches and platters are awesome. The servers are quiet but couldn't be nicer. When you start to go more often they recognize you and are more personable. The inside is definitely an interesting vibe but it's just a homey place.

Whitney W.

Yelp
The best falafel in America. I've been coming here since college and it's the tastiest place in Dallas outside of Al Biernats. Tabouli is fresh and gyros are fabulous
google avatar

Pritha A.

Yelp
This is a beautiful gem that's tucked away in the Dallas, TX. I just have two words for you, "just come". It's a BYOB.

Genevieve D.

Yelp
Food and service! Small little place with really good food....take out too! Wonderful greek salad and gyros!
google avatar

Julia G.

Yelp
This has been consistently great food my whole life. It is one of the rare places where you can get chicken gyro, and it is really well done. We love dining inside or grabbing it on a busy week night to-go. Love their split lentil soup, their rice is so fluffy and perfect, and they have great kubbi! Highly recommend!!
google avatar

Leanne G.

Yelp
Delicious food! If you like Middle Eastern food, you need to try this restaurant. We got the spinach sambosa, falafel sandwich (the falafels were lightly crispy but still soft), chicken shawarma sandwich (white-meat chicken), and chicken kebabs. All were delicious! The sandwiches come with the protein, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and a tasty tahini sauce that added so much flavor. The chicken kebabs are breast meat - nicely grilled, served with grilled onions and tomatoes, with a side of rice which is cooked with vermicelli noodles. The samosas were lightly fried and delicious. The ambiance is modest. The to-go orders are packed in styrofoam. Although styrofoam keeps the food hot, it is very frustrating to have non-environmentally friendly packaging when very good alternatives exist.
google avatar

Dave G.

Yelp
Takeout Review - Quick, flavorful, authentic and value is high. Falafel was perfectly soft inside and crispy exterior, gyro was well portioned and the flavor was on point. Highly recommended for healthy high protein food! 5/5

Yelp
OUR NEW FAV SPOT. My husband is Armenian so we LOVED this place. First we walked in and the restaurant is super dated, but that means it's good right? Brandon tried to order a beer, but they said it's BYOB. Some people might be annoyed by this but he immediately responded and said "my new favorite place". We ordered a ton of appetizers and chicken kabob entree's. Can't wait to go back.

Raz V.

Yelp
Delicious! A little white washed Mediterranean due to the area but good none the less. Friendly service and decent portions sizes.

Laurie B.

Yelp
Food from Galilee is a small restaurant in Snider Plaza with excellent food and quick service. Son is vegan and I've got celiac disease and am gluten-free - no problem finding items we could eat. My son got the falafel plate and I got the cabbage rolls. Tasty comfort food in a comfortable atmosphere! Looking forward to coming back next trip to Dallas.

Nathan C.

Yelp
Been coming here for 15 years now, and quality has never wavered. Owners and employees are delightful, and food is wonderful. Happy customer for years.

Yelp
Every time I go to Dallas, I end up stopping by here. I've tried numerous Lebanese restaurants from McKinney/Plano all the way to Irving, and this place still has the best tasting Lebanese grubs - and also offers more for the buck. I just think it's funny that this old standby can withstand newer competition - some of which have already closed - and this place's longevity is testament of the place has definitely become, in my mind, a Dallas institution. The first time I came here was back in 2001. And I'm still coming back, 17 years later. PROS: + malfouf (cabbage rolls) + stuffed cornish hen (dinner only, and stuffed with rice and almonds, pine nuts and finely minced ground beef) + really, any and all of their mezzes/appetizers CONS: - only missing staple from the menu is the kibbeh nayeh (the Lebanese answer to the beef tartare)

Divya F.

Yelp
One of the best family owned neighborhood restaurants in The Park Cities with top quality, tasty meals and homey atmosphere. The owners and staff give you personal attention and the food is always consistent along with friendly service at the right price
google avatar

Kaylee N.

Yelp
We ordered for pickup and the experience was smooth. The food was average though. The Baba Ghannouj was not very flavorful, the side rice was a little undercooked, and the gyro meat was slightly dry. The baklawa with pistachio was good. Not sure if I'll come back to this place as there are other options in the area.

Paul C.

Yelp
Awesome food and great family, we go here regularly and either eat in or take away. You must bring your own wine and there is no corking fee.

Charles T.

Yelp
Great food, reasonable prices and really nice people. I really enjoy the gyros and the Greek coffee!.
google avatar

Carly R.

Yelp
Amazing!! Love the coziness and family vibe here. The kitchen is spotless and the food is the best I've ever had. Go early for a table
google avatar

Kirolos M.

Yelp
The service was good, the food was maybe decent. We got the beef shawarma plate, beef shawarma wrap, chicken shawarma wrap, and kofta. The only thing that tasted good was the kofta. Everything else was forgettable! But the service was great!
google avatar

Matthew M.

Yelp
Food From Galilee is a great spot tucked away between shops in Snyder Plaza. The food is delicious and the employees are wonderful. We have tried various items on the menu but we love the falafel platter. The food is fresh and made with love in the small restaurant. We always love the crisp flavors of the cuisine at Food From Galilee. I love this spot for a quick and healthy lunch. During the dinner service, it is not uncommon to see the restaurant crowded with people enjoying family dinners. Food From Galilee really sets the bar for mediterranean food in Dallas. I will continue to come back every time I crave their wonderful food.

Yelp
'Food From Galilee' is a true hidden gem in University Park, Dallas! * This authentic Middle Eastern restaurant is definitely a hole in the wall that could easily be missed, and I passed on all the other popular restaurants and franchises in this busy area to check it out and I'm soo happy I did- I had such an experience that is beyond compare to others. * 'Food From Galilee' has the warmest, coziest vibe. It's a tiny place with photos on the walls of faraway places, Middle Eastern music plays, and the friendly hospitality is a bonus. * The menu is delicious and authentic, described as a "culinary tour of the Middle East." It is obvious that the restaurant takes pride in sharing their heritage through their quality dishes. The prices are OUTSTANDING and they offer a lunch portion and a dinner portion. This allows you to try many items affordably. * I ordered... -Grape Leaves- stuffed with rice, meat, and spices, simmered in chicken broth and lemon juice -Split Red Lentil Soup- made with chicken, sautéed garlic, and lemon juice -Tabouli- parsley, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, bulgur wheat, lemon juice, and olive oil -Gyro- lamb, lettuce, tomato, onion, gyro sauce in a pita * After my meal I sipped on a Middle Eastern Coffee. I loved the robust, bitter flavor of the coffee and it was the perfect end to my flavorful meal. I was in heaven y'all!! * If you are ever in the area, PLEASE check them out and SHARE!

Yelp
Y'all... I have been going to this restaurant since I was a little kid. I would go weekly with family and order a hot dog and fries, yes hot dog, because my pallet enjoyed a typical 90s American kid delicacy. What can I say? I loved their kid's menu hot dog and amazing fries! Luckily, my pallet is more mature now, and I LOVE everything from their gyros to tabbouleh to hummus and beyond! Their fries are still delicious in my book too! If a restaurant has made it this long in Dallas AND in Snider Plaza, you know it is good (not just a trend). It is also family-owned and run. I can taste the love in their food. Just don't go expecting a "super trendy modern" vibe. Those restaurants usually only last a short time anyways.
google avatar

Elisabeth S.

Yelp
Snider Plaza management: this place is exactly the kind of place that you should have! Fantastic you-can't-find-it elsewhere in the city, mom and pop amazing food. This is a great place for Park Cities ladies to enjoy cozy conversation over healthy hummus, for hungry teen boys to grab a gyro protein fix (my sons will drop anything they are doing, if I offer them a Galilee gyro) and a close place for SMU kids to get their baba ganoush on. If you are feeling spoiled, add a honey drenched baklava from the case. I have also used this place for a 60-person catering need and everything was well packaged, delicious and at a terrific price compared to other options we had. Great, healthy food with personal customer service.
google avatar

Jazmine P.

Yelp
I order the Gyro platter with rice and red lentil soup. The food came out pretty quickly and was good. I read reviews about this place being really small inside and it's true. I wish the inside was bigger

Jessica G.

Yelp
The food was good the place it's self it's very small and dark and the service was decent.

Gurwinder K.

Yelp
Don't get the fattoush salad with meat to go. They put the meat on top of the salad in the same box. So, by the time you get home and get ready to eat, the lettuce becomes soft and doesn't taste good.
