Amazing restaurant in Leigh on Sea. 3rd visit to Food in Leigh on Sea and it was amazing again. Opting for the taster menu with drink pairing and each dish was a triumph. Service was great too, intimate but not stuffy. Staff were friendly too, with being too formal. And most importantly for a tasting menu we didn’t feel rushed at all. Living within walking distance we will definitely go again soon. A real treat and great for any special occasion. Highly recommended restaurant in Leigh on sea.

Absolutely loved this hidden gem. Small but perfectly formed, cosy but bright gluten free restaurant in Leigh. Family run and knowledgeable friendly staff. Food flavours that were delicious and innovative, locally sourced, and a focus of sustainability. Beautifully plated on beautiful plates! Suitable I would say for small groups, couples and older kids. Not so great for wheelchairs due to the footprint of the restaurant. Thought portions looked a little small but had 3 course menu for lunch and was just right. Great value for money too at £35.

This is genuinely one of the most special places to eat. Their whole concept revolves around fresh, local, organic and seasonal produce, and it shows in every single dish. The food is clean, beautifully crafted and exquisitely balanced with every element paired to perfection. It’s Michelin-level cooking, but without any pretension. The plates are refined yet wholesome, and you always leave feeling properly satisfied. The flavours are incredibly clever and consistently exciting. We’ve been loads of times now and we still walk out raving about it after every single visit. The wine selection deserves a special mention too; all organic or biodynamic, thoughtfully chosen and genuinely outstanding. The staff are friendly and attentive, and they pace the meal perfectly, leaving just the right amount of time between dishes so you can enjoy, digest, pause… and then dive back in again. It turns the meal into a proper experience rather than a rush. The place genuinely fills me with joy! It’s such a treat every time, and we’re incredibly lucky to have something this special right on our doorstep. Without question, the best in Leigh-on-Sea.

What a little gem!!! FOOD is a fantastic little restaurant, and rightly, it is featured in 2025 Michelin guide. The tasting menu was amazing, and Gemma certainly sold every dish. Her knowledge was very good, and her description of each dish was 1st class. The wine pairing added to the whole experience, and it was nice to have the perfect partner to each dish. The restaurant was pretty much full, but the way the tables are set up, you are in your group and not too close to other diners, which can at times be annoying. I felt our experience was enhanced by the table position. The staff were all very good and attentive and nothing was too much. They even redone a dish so I could get a picture I'd missed!!! Had the 5 course tasting menu and have say it was delicious. Flavours were exceptional and the detailed description of what you are getting really helped. Enjoyed all the courses with mains being the best and possibly fish being the least… although it was still delicious. The marmite butter an absolute delight. Excellent service and great vibe. Next time I’m in Essex would love to come again. Imagine living near…. I’d be in there all the time.

This place really is unique - went on a Saturday night for the tasting menu and every single touchpoint from the friendly staff, to the crockery and (especially) the food itself exceeded expectations. Each course was perfectly portioned, planned and executed, concisely explained by the staff who make you feel extremely relaxed and taken care of. Also a 4 glass wine flight with a dessert wine for £35?! That is incredible value. Already counting down to my next visit.

First visit to Leigh-on-Sea and we discovered this gem of a restaurant! Had the most fabulous lunch from the menu du jour with a glass of delicious Brut Natur cava! Service was exceptional and we can’t wait to visit again soon!
