Food Share of Ventura County

Wonderful community organization. Took a tour and learned about how many people they serve. They have a great staff and are very in tune with the needs of the community. I definitely recommend anyone who can get involved with supporting monetarily and/or volunteering. Call to get signed up! They need support and volunteers.

The receptionist was very friendly and helpful she explained that they didn't give out food at the warehouse and gave me information were they give out food and gave me emergency bag of food

Driver. Arrived noon before the day before 10:00 a.m. appointment. Unloaded 12:45 after getting a call from them. Might differ by product, had frozen fish. North entrance, plenty of room to back up to dock on southeast corner, might be tight in lot if a lot of trucks, so stay as close to the outside as possible and it’s a really easy back. Leave on West /South entrance. 10/5 bathroom. Smelled fabulous and very clean. Unloading was completed in the time it took me to get my business done, so ~10 min. Street parking, not sure if overnight is allowed as there are no parking 10p-6a signs but I’m testing that out. Streets are a bit packed with cars. Friendly people. Beautiful views if you’re coming from the north I-5 to US 101.

This program has selflessly helped feed our homeless population for years at Genesis Sober Living, Inc. also people from custody that have absolutely no food when they arrive. This organization absolutely does what they say!

Five. Stars for the receptionist. 3 to 4 stars to one of the blonde ladies with blue eyes who I spoke to on my last visit. I am aware that they usually don’t give out food bags at this location but out of emergency because I didn’t have anymore money and I’m currently unemployed. I went to this location to ask for food and I thought the attitude of this lady was very rude given the fact that on their wall they have written “because no one should go hungry”. This woman gave a passive aggressive remark, saying they had limited resources, and she would go to the back with the receptionist to get me a bag. I really didn’t say anything other than thank you but for somebody who is struggling right now, that comment doesn’t really make you feel very well about going to a social work resource organization to ask for help when you’re dealing with people like this. If this woman does not like her job, then she should probably quit because there’s plenty of people who are currently unemployed who would love to have a job. Aside from these interactions, I’ve had to deal with. I could say I am very grateful for this organization, because I actually wrote a paper in college about food share, When I was a student. So seeing what I wrote come into existence to help society temporarily, while they look for employment is very amazing. I also appreciate this resource because it really alleviates some of the pains and struggles people face in society just to get food, and I truly feel that this curves the data when it comes to human trafficking because a lot of people end up in human trafficking, just because they don’t have jobs, or have the support system to get their basic needs met.

Wonderful facility. Clean, well organized. Staffed by happy cheerful people who seem to love what they do. A incredibly important service done very, very well. If you can support them, do. I heard one woman say because of Food Share and the vast network of food pantries and partners, many people have avoided homelessness. In otherwords, they didn't have to choose eating over paying rent or mortgage because they were able to receive food at no cost, they could pay for their housing. Think about it, huge impact.

Food Share is such an important resource and lifeline to Ventura County! The staff at the distribution center truly care about their mission, and it definitely shows through their actions. At a former job of mine, Food Share allowed the educational non-profit organization I worked for to shop weekly for fresh produce to distribute directly to elementary school students and families served in need, many of whom struggled with food insecurity. This partnership was vital, and very much appreciated by all because it helped improve food access throughout our community at wellness fairs and nutrition classes. Thank you for your hard work! I will never forget about the huge difference Food Share continues to make in countless lives throughout Ventura County, and the value they place on equity.

1st time & they have a forever volunteer out of me ! I found this event by chance and was like "IM GOING!" and I'm so glad I did! The amount of volunteers that showed up today turned a 2 hour event into 30 mins and it was such a refreshing time - especially to do on a day of love . I LOVED what I did today and I LOVE knowing that what we did today effects the future of tomorrow . This makes my day , check their website out for more opportunities . My company encourages us to get paid our regular daily wage to volunteer in the community one day per year and I chose to work with Food Share Ventura County. LOVED it. I was happy to find they had a big event in December where I could volunteer all day. It was hard work but fun and all the people were so friendly and enthusiastic. I'm looking forward to being able to come back and volunteer more time here. For those looking for direct help, this organization has limited support going directly to individuals - most of their work is collecting donated food, sorting it and distributing it to other organizations that distribute direct to individuals. I would expect Food Share would be able to (if not help someone directly) be able to direct you to an organization that would be better suited to give direct aid.

I recently had an opportunity to tour a wonderful organization that provides a safety net for families who are victims of unfortunate circumstance...Food Share. They are a food bank that serves families (and individuals) in Camarillo, Oxnard and Ventura. Food Share is a nonprofit organization supported by companies, other foundations and non profits, government and especially by the kindness of others who donate their canned goods during food drives that occur year round. It was an eye opening experience learning about what it takes to collect and distribute food to those in need. Food Share will have a profound impact on many families, especially this holiday season. In thinking about how I could support such an amazing organization, I thought that yelping about their good work is a good start. If donating to a nonprofit organization is something you practice, Food Share Regional Food Bank, Ventura is a good one to consider. I feel compelled to note that for every dollar they receive in monetary donations, they have seven dollars in food buying power. Regardless, I know they will be happy to have your support in anyway you feel that's right.

This is my 4th year having Food Share pick my trees. It's a win win. The hungry get food and I don't have rotting fruit all over the ground. They show up when they say they will and are very professional.

I've routinely come to Food Share each year to participate in a Toy Run they help sponsor for underprivileged children. The staff, facilities and organization are simply top shelf. These guys and gals really care and offer a great service to the local community.

Ignores us a lot. We're hungry, homeless in ventura. Hard to access the pantry. Keep telling Panera that we want some of their leftover bread & also ignore us. Cans have BPA, lot of expired food. No can opener anyway, So much for caring about the poor & needy. Whoever thought this was funny is very evil.
