The Best Places to Dine in Fredericksburg, Virginia | Eater DC

"Top Chef alum Joy Crump transformed the local food scene with her commitment to seasonal Virginia ingredients. Her fried chicken — based on her mom Rosie’s recipe — is legendary, but the menu changes daily depending on what’s fresh. You might find a salad of burrata, peaches, and herbs one night or Virginia maple-brined pork over collards and apple butter the next. Crump’s bold Southern dishes consistently impress." - Robey Martin

Beautiful restaurant in an old bank. You can even dine in the old vault. Great breakfast with huge portions for reasonable prices. The everything biscuits are to die for. Friendly service.

Stopped by around 9am during the week, on my way out of town, for a quick breakfast. I was greeted at the door and seated immediately. My waiter was attentive and offered suggestions. I decided to try the tomato ricotta pastry and the pimento toast, both fantastic. The tomato pastry was unique and flavorful, the ingredients were fresh and the presentation was nice. The pimento cheese had a slight kick and was served on a fresh toasted baguette slice, with the cheese nicely melted. Their espresso machine was down so I was unable to order any espresso drinks but they suggested somewhere for me to stop on my way out. I would love to come back and try their dinner or lunch!

The building itself is lovely and many smaller rooms with tables- we were seated in a back room adjunct to the kitchen and the ensuing kitchen racket gave me pause until the sliding doors were shut, there is a bank vault room as well that looked very interesting to eat in. The menu is small, and I was nervous about the weird-sounding combinations- not so! The spring chicken was delicious and paired really well with the pea hummus and a delicious salad. Shrimp was cooked perfectly on the shrimp and grits, although the tomato pie was a bit too salty according to a member of my party. Service was unremarkable and slightly slow- the only notable drawback from what was otherwise a pleasant dining experience.

I just love this old building. It used to be a bank. They kept so much of the original interior and utilized the old safe deposit box doors in an amazing way. Great place for breakfast. My server, Taylor, she suggested the Daily Omelet, this sounded great. I asked for sausage to be added, but they were out. So she me toned they had bacon, steak or chicken. I selected steak. Really great breakfast and conversation. Taylor set me up with a coffee to go, and I enjoyed my morning. Highly recommend.

A bank that has been converted to a restaurant. The atmosphere is good with good vibes. The location is very convenient to downtown. I had the NY strip steak and it was very good but not very special.

I visited here with a friend on a Wednesday night around 7 PM, and we were seated immediately. We ordered the steak and had the s'more dish for dessert. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the wait for food wasn't long at all. Our dessert was also served quickly, and was incredibly delicious. The cookies were gingerbread and the spice level was perfect. We sat in the old bank vault room with some original safety deposit boxes on the wall. The decor was unique and stylish, and the live acoustic music was soft and fit the ambiance perfectly. Our waitress was kind and attentive as well. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the Fredericksburg area.

Possibly the best Belgian waffle I’ve ever had. The fried chicken on top was cooked perfectly. My husband says the steak tacos were great, also, which means a lot coming from a critic such as him 😉 Bloody Mary was yummy: homemade mix with a little spice. The service was fantastic; not too overbearing, but very attentive. Loved the atmosphere, especially the old bank vault. Highly recommend!
