The Best Places to Dine in Fredericksburg, Virginia | Eater DC

"Top Chef alum Joy Crump transformed the local food scene with her commitment to seasonal Virginia ingredients. Her fried chicken — based on her mom Rosie’s recipe — is legendary, but the menu changes daily depending on what’s fresh. You might find a salad of burrata, peaches, and herbs one night or Virginia maple-brined pork over collards and apple butter the next. Crump’s bold Southern dishes consistently impress." - Robey Martin

THE MOST AMAZING EXPERIENCE EVER! Foode was so amazing at accommodating a work luncheon! During a busy holiday season, they went above and beyond to make us feel right at home. The service was AMAZING! Our server had so many recommendations and helped during the ordering process, as the dishes all look so amazing. He was attentive and made sure we were comfortable and enjoyed our food. The hostess were also super accommodating! A few of us arrived early and they showed us right where to wait, to get us out of the cold, and prioritized the room being ready (even though there was no need to). Every dish came out perfectly prepared, and everyone enjoyed their dish, some envious of others while waiting for everyone’s dish to be set down, but also so happy and full of abundance once they tasted their own dish. If anything, it just made everyone want to come back for more. My favorite highlight, the music. Loved it. Old school, dancing music. If the food wasn’t so good, I would have been singing and dancing lol. All the best oldies! Not too loud, perfect to still have a conversation, but enough to make you feel good and right at home. Thank you Foode, thank you Beth, and thank you to your amazing team!

This place was awesome! The location in the historic bank building is so cool and the vibes were immaculate. Our server was incredibly kind and helpful as we attempted to narrow down which food item we wanted, and which cocktail to indulge (because the options were amazing). I ordered the Cobia which sat on a miso broth and - as someone who’s not a big fan of sweet potato - I even liked the sweet potato which is a testament to the flavor! Definitely cannot wait to go back for brunch.

Google
Definitely get a reservation for weekend brunch! We snagged a spot at the full service bar and had a wonderful breakfast. The steak tacos were well balanced with salsa and cheesy eggs, but my favorite was the flaky biscuit with honey butter and fresh strawberry jam.

The vegetarian dish I had here was amazing. It was very surprisingly good with collard green, rice noodles, peanut and coconut sauce, chili crisps. So good! You must try the Volet Dream cocktail, also very tasty!

Google
Very inviting dining room and the service was excellent. Early evening dinner with no waiting for a table. Ryan was our server, very friendly and efficient. The dinner burgers (large portions!) and roasted half chicken were all good. We really loved the pimiento mac and cheese to share. Dinner for three of us including one beer was around $100. On street parking was available nearby.

Google
WOW What a nice restaurant to find. We were out and about. I was looking for a place to eat near where we were at the time as we are not from Fredericksburg area so honestly I don't know what's around or good unless it's a chain I recognize. So we searched and searched and decided to try out "Foode" the photos, amount of reviews, and proximity to where we were all played a role. So we get here and our waitress was very knowledgeable about the historical history of the building and its relationship it ahsares with Ab Lincoln. Pretty cool interesting facts to learn. So we decided on the Jerk Hash and the Burger w/ fries. Btw the sweet tea was great not too sweet honestly and the service from Sarena was great. Didn't even have to ask for a refill. Wow. Don't find that often and it's a rule in my book as I waited tables and was very good at it. Anyways you all should for sure give this place a try. We really enjoyed it ourselves and will most definitely be back to try out some more dishes. Wow wow wow.

Google
This restaurant is a perfect stop for its delicious farm to table food, quaint sidewalk seating, and great service. Also a great stop for those who want to take in local history while grabbing a bite. It offers a wine and burger pairing .at any unbeatable price. The burger was a star of the meal, and the perfect partner to the fries. The truffle fries were a delicious and flavorful side, with a savory, earthy taste. The seasonal fall drink was a great complementary addition to the meal. The overall meal was a winning combination. I look forward to coming back.

Google
I just love this old building. It used to be a bank. They kept so much of the original interior and utilized the old safe deposit box doors in an amazing way. Great place for breakfast. My server, Taylor, she suggested the Daily Omelet, this sounded great. I asked for sausage to be added, but they were out. So she me toned they had bacon, steak or chicken. I selected steak. Really great breakfast and conversation. Taylor set me up with a coffee to go, and I enjoyed my morning. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We enjoyed our lunch visit to Foode, both for the cozy ambience and the food! I got the Grilled Burrata Cheese Sandwich with Old Bay fries as my side. The sandwich definitely hit all the notes for comfort food: buttery sourdough bread, gooey cheese, and some added flavor from the onions. Given how milky burrata is, I think more onions or some added herbs could have punched up the flavor a bit, but overall I liked the sandwich a lot. The fries were very good as well, but again, could have used a bit more of the seasoning for which they were named. My lunch companion got the Chinese Chicken Salad, which he like as well, though he commented that it was a little on the dry side and could have used more dressing. (Perhaps the kitchen staff working our lunch had a light hand in general?) My small critiques are just that, though: small. It was a very nice meal in a charming space, and I suspect we'll make a point to eat there again on our next visit to the area.

Yelp
Took a stroll around downtown Fredericksburg and stumbled upon this place. The aesthetic of this old building turned restaurant is what drew me in to dine here. For our party of 2, there was a 15-20 minute wait. Farm to table American fare. We ordered their highly recommended pimiento cheese toast ($2 for 2 pcs), fries, fried chicken sandwich, smash burger, and the burrata salad (I wish had more greens and balsamic rather than the copious amount of grapes). The food was decent and affordable. But what really takes the cake is being able to dine with Abe (Lincoln) and possibly inside the original vault of a historic bank building. Decent food. Great service. Good experience.

Yelp
I've been eating at Foode for years, and I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal. It's my go-to spot for brunch. The food is always fresh, the service is friendly, and the whole place just has a great vibe. Their biscuits are the best in Fredericksburg, and honestly so is their brunch. I also love that we can call ahead and put our name in--it makes the whole experience so much easier, especially on busy weekends. Foode has been a favorite for a long time, and it never lets us down.

Yelp
This restaurant was a cute place to eat. I had the opportunity to eat in the vault and I really loved it in there. My waitress Taylor had excellent service. The vegan tacos were very good. The potatoes on top were crispy and the whole meal was seasoned very well. If you like mimosas. I definitely recommend the grapefruit mimosa!

Yelp
Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere. My favorable impression first came when I called to ask about outdoor seating and whether we could make reservations: I had the loveliest phone experience with a very accommodating host, Robert. Foode knows customer service. We had brunch at Foode on the Saturday before Easter: the outdoor service was fantastic, and we were fortunate to have lovely weather. Foode was busy, but they never missed a beat. Everyone with whom we had contact was gracious and friendly, and they know how to manage a crowd. The food is superb. There is something for everyone on the menu. We had picky eaters, vegetarians, and restricted diets all in our party, and everyone had lots to choose from and enjoyed their meals. Rosie's fried chicken is perfection: it is flavorful and moist beneath its crispy exterior and is perfectly seasoned. It is exceptional paired with their fresh, crisp waffle. I'm looking forward to trying more on their menu. We will definitely be returning.

Yelp
First time at Foode. I've heard it's either a hit or miss. For us, we didn't have a reservation, but they were kind enough to seat us. The staff isn't very familiar with their menu in terms of allergies, so it took more than one trip to the kitchen to verify what you could eat. In the end, I opted for the steak and mushrooms, but I didn't get any mushrooms at all. I did appreciate that the steak was grass-fed and cooked to perfection, but it seemed to be over-seasoned for my liking. We waited a long time for our food, but our waiter did come out and check on us a few times. Overall, the restaurant is really cool, as it is inside of an old bank, and I'm guessing with a reservation you'd be able to sit in what was once the safe. safe.

Yelp
The food was simply delicious The service was great and attentive Great set up in a old bank a lot of history in historic downtown.

Yelp
Second trip to Foode. Kat was my server. Service was excellent. Food was awesome (again). Had the roasted beets to start, which was interesting (good). It was served cold which was surprising; the mint and pomegranate seeds really added a nice depth of flavor. For my main I had the "en papillote halibut" which was awesome. (not served "in papillote"). Big portion, great flavor (although tbh halibut is very mild). It all came together real well. I like the wood floors in the restaurant. Adds a touch of age to the place.

Yelp
Normally I really love this place, but this visit was just underwhelming. I haven't been in a few years since mercantile was separate from foode. They seemed to have gotten rid of a few of their items, like the fredericksburger. The fries also aren't as crispy and delicious like they used to be. Hubby and I both ordered the fried chicken sandwich. It was just okay. Fries were okay. Everything was just okay. Service was good and ambiance is always neat. I like the vault. It's really cool. I'm not in a hurry to come back.

Yelp
Breakfast out with my Kids and Grandson. This restaurant is inside what used to be a bank. It had a family diner atmosphere, in my humble opinion. We walked in, were greeted warmly at the door, and were seated right away. The waiter was pleasant and efficient. He asked us about allergies and took our orders right away. The noise level was average and they had music playing in the background. Our food was slightly delayed but it was okay because the company was good and the atmosphere was relaxing. We chatted and laughed until the food came out. I ordered the Breakfast Scramble with a side of Bacon. The rest of my family ordered Biscuits with Gravy. The scramble with eggs, kale, onions, peppers and ham was good-well-seasoned and tasty( if it ain't seasoned, I ain't greasin--but I digress). My Daughter in Love said it was good but she only wished the gravy was on top of the biscuits not the eggs. Otherwise, a delightful breakfast to start our day. 9/10. Will definitely add it to our breakfast list when we are Fredericksburg again.

Yelp
Stopped for dinner while driving south, came here solely based on yelp review and it did not disappoint. They had a very interesting twist on shrimp and grits by adding Italian tomatoes. The history of the building housing this restaurant is indicated on a plaque outside, read it and feel even more emotional.

Mellissa J.

Yelp
We had our holiday lunch here and it did not disappoint. Suzy was great for service and the food was yummy. The wage could have been crisper but I will ask for that next time.

Yelp
Nice location in an old bank building. Love now they used the old equipment to decorate the dining area: Visited the location on a Saturday afternoon for brunch. Recommend you make a reservation for peak days. Wait would have been 45+ min if we didn't. Sat by the fireplace. Near decor of old Sade deposits boxes located right in front of the fireplace. Ordered the chicken and waffles. No frills plating. . .chicken was juicy, waffle was crispy. Other tables also had delicious looking dishes coming out.

Yelp
So this review only counts for a drink and an appetizer, but the saffron was a cocktail that included bourbon and saffron simple syrup, and was absolutely delicious! We also had some olives that were yummy, and the ambience itself was phenomenal, as it was an updated Bank that fit the vibe we were looking for. Would recommend coming for the food, as the menu looks superb!

Yelp
What a great dining experience! This place in Fredericksburg is definitely worth a visit. I ordered the hake and clams dish, and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were well-balanced and the sauce was rich. Plus, the fresh dill was a great touch that really elevated the dish. The service was also top-notch. Our server was attentive and quick, and they even let us sit in the old bank vault, which was a cool and memorable experience. Even though we were the only ones tucked away in there, we never felt forgotten.

Yelp
We picked Foode as a fallback when our first choice was closed for a private event. While it may not have been our initial choice it was still a good decision. The wait staff was pleasant and the live haircut something that can drive me from a place of its too loud or bad was good without being overwhelming. We were able to have a conversation while he played. My shrimp and grits were great with just a little spice and the homemade sausage was a great addition. My wife said her steak was ok. The pimento cheese bread appetizer was wonderful as was the cheesecake. One of the silkiest cheesecakes I've ever had.

Yelp
The food in this restaurant for me was very subpar. My sister had the shrimp and grits and I had the pan seared trout with broccolini. The broccolini was not even edible. In addition, there are no substitutions to their menu. They stated they will let you order a side along with the side that you don't want that comes with your meal. The food is overpriced and for me not worth what was paid. Later that night I became ill. Don't know if it was from the seafood dish, but it was the only thing that I could think of that would've caused me to feel the way I did. However, I did not get food poisoning or get diagnosed from a doctor or Hospital so I can't emphatically attribute it to what I ate. I guess they were trying to be different or interesting by building their restaurant in an old bank vault, but if you actually walked into the vault section, there is an old smell. It was an idea that fell short, maybe they should've had the Bill come in a withdrawal, deposit or transfer slip. Maybe they should've had more than one dish named something to do with the bank (bankers burger). Maybe they could have tried to come up with more dishes that had something to do with the bank... Cravings and bone in chicken, Bonnie's bass and Clyde's clam pan roast, quick cash cookies... Lol. I don't know, the bank theme just didn't really do anything for me the way it was. The service was very good but all in all I would not come here again. My sister and I had wanted to try this place because we had heard a lot about it and decided to go there for my birthday. I definitely wish I had made a better choice and no they didn't do anything special because it was my birthday. No song of happy birthday no special treat. The restaurant itself was very cold which only made me want to get out of there even faster. My sister felt her dish was OK however we both agreed we will not be revisiting this restaurant.

Yelp
Cute little find for brunch in downtown Fredericksburg. Loved their scramble of the day- fresh basil, tomatoes, and basil. Would love to come back soon for dinner!

Yelp
Everything - food, drinks, service, atmosphere - is consistently amazing! We are frequent visitors at Foode and are never disappointed!

Yelp
Our waitress was fantastic! She provided everything we asked for without issue and was so efficient and fun. The artwork is from a local artist who was very good and some was for sale. The menu has so many options and the biscuits are delicious! The smoked salmon is flavorful and creamy. The lattes and cappuccinos are so tasty. The steak tacos were rockin and the cheese grits were addictive! This place is a must go to and it will be repeated I'm certain!
google avatar

Vinny G.

Yelp
It's a bit small inside but it's an old remodeled bank so space is limited and they have tables in the vault, which is cool! They have a small bar but it is full. I tried the pastry of the day and it was tasteful. I also had the Jerk Chicken Hash, it was what I expected, it was so much better. I would order it every time I go to Foode, it was that good! Our server was very polite and made sure we were taken care of and also gave small conversation. We also had the bartender come over and make some small talk. It felt like a real personal experience and very enjoyable.
google avatar

Aleshia A.

Yelp
I've been here twice for brunch and I have to say they do not miss! The inside of the restaurant is super cool with interesting art and a literal vault you can eat inside of. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable on the menu which is nice because it changes. We had the scramble of the day which had ham and veggies in it. Love me some seasoned eggs! They were so good. The grits are great as well, then we also had their potato hash which seems simple at glance but also was quite delicious! Can't recommend this place enough.
google avatar

Howard F.

Yelp
Quite delicious. Crowded for Sunday lunch, so we had to sit at the bar, and it was worth it. My wife loved her Frittata with broccoli and cheese (today's options instead of the daily quiche special), while I had the eggs, bacon, home fries and toast, which were great. The bacon was perfectly-prepared, and thick and meaty. The eggs had a great herb and spice combo that brought out the scrambled flavor. I could see coming here for a dinner and drink and upping them to five stars in the future.
google avatar

Sean B.

Yelp
The chicken sandwich was good, tender, juicy, great crust, but it totally lacked in flavor. If the chef would've put a slaw with a little bit of kick to it, it would've taken this sandwich over the top, but it was just sort of two dimensional as far as it's flavor compositions. The fries were good. I think what really lacked was the attention to detail in service. I tried to get my servers attention several times, but she was too busy and possibly had too many stations to attend to. Sitting next to the door didn't do the ambience much good either since it was very breezy and high traffic, but that's just luck of the draw. If they could work on their chicken sandwich just a little bit they could take it to the next level and be epic instead of just good.
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
I will not go anywhere else for shrimp and grits . Tried so many down town and this one just makes sense . Fresh ingredients, full of flavor and amazing service .

Samantha B.

Yelp
The food was delicious, we ordered the seasonal biscuits & fruit (which was strawberries & cream). My husband got the smash burger and I got the everything biscuit. My only complaint was the everything biscuit had a lot more egg than I was expecting- but that's just my own preference. It tasted delicious & the potatoes on the side were really tasty. This place has outdoor seating that is dog & stroller friendly. The inside is beautiful as well, with really nice historical bank features.

Yelp
Walked in around 730 on a Friday and was seated right away. Warm friendly staff and beautiful interior decor. Dove into the menu with an order of the pimento toast. Warmed pimento cheese is an acquired taste and def had a little sharpness and kick on it. Paired with the perfect amount of toasty warm baguette to offset the bite of the cheese. Followed up with shrimp and grits for me and blackened pork chops for the hubs. I was meh on the s&g. I'm a huge fan of this dish typically but there was a sweet undercurrent I struggled with in this preparation. I will say it was a huge portion with perfectly cooked shrimp. Husband was obsessed with the flavors in the pork dish with the grits being a nice consistency and the pork was cooked perfectly. Overall a lovely meal and would come back again if able.

Yelp
This place was awesome! The location in the historic bank building is so cool and the vibes were immaculate. Our server was incredibly kind and helpful as we attempted to narrow down which food item we wanted, and which cocktail to indulge (because the options were amazing). I ordered the Cobia which sat on a miso broth and - as someone who's not a big fan of sweet potato - I even liked the sweet potato which is a testament to the flavor! Definitely cannot wait to go back for brunch.

Yelp
Great food but sometimes inconsistent service. Went for Restaurant Week and instead of the usual two or three course RW pairings, they had a few "special" items on the menu. These did not showcase the menu as would a normal RW menu. We tried one of the salads and the halibut, in addition to their go-to Shrimp and Grits. Very tasty. A bit of a bohemian experience.
google avatar

Jenna P.

Yelp
Our experience at Foode was well worth the 45 minute wait. The restaurant is located in a remodeled bank building that makes dining in a truly unique experience. The decor is sleek and even gave my parents inspiration for their next DIY project. Our service was wonderful and our waitress did a nice job of informing us of today's specials, handling allergies, and offering recommendations. Our entire party enjoyed our meal especially the breakfast potatoes and Rosie's chicken and waffles. The Everything Biscuit was tasty but it definitely is on the cheesier side as a warning. We will definitely be coming back to Foode to try more of their lunch/dinner items.
google avatar

Yelp
This place completely blew us away! Set in a charming old-style house, Foode is a farm-to-table gem in downtown Fredericksburg. We knew nothing about the area but lucked out--great location, surrounded by shops and things to do. The food? Incredible. We had the steak (so tender and big), wings, and a few cocktails--every bite and sip was perfect. The staff was warm and personal, and the vibe was just right. Absolutely worth every penny. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
My sister and I came in on a Monday night and were led right to a table in this warm and inviting restaurant. Loved that there was a seating area that looks like a working bank vault that our server told us we could "tour" while we waited for our food. We listened to a well-curated playlist and our food was served after a short wait. Our server was pleasant and attentive, though we were disappointed to learn that there was no bread service and that there were no substitutions for most entrées. We split our dishes, the first of which was the shrimp and grits with a tomato sauce that had a little bit of heat to it. It was very tasty and, according to the server, a guest favorite. Unfortunately, the trout was quite bland, even the white sauce that came with it had no flavor. The side was a paltry serving of hard and stringy broccolini. It didn't look overcooked, maybe it was just old. We were told that the menu changes weekly, so maybe future guest will have better luck with other dishes. The shrimp and grits is a safe bet.

Yelp
Foode is a restaurant situated in an old bank building in beautiful Downtown Historic Fredericksburg. We ate in the vault, which I found amusing. No windows, of course. They have a main dining room which was the bank lobby, I suspect and other rooms throughout the floor. It can get loud because of the high ceilings. But it was quiet in the vault ;) We were seated quickly and watered before we ordered. Having just driven 300+ miles we needed to settle in for brunch. Long wait at the restrooms( the place was busy). The waiter took his time with us and that was fine, we needed it. When we did order our meals came fast. Which was great. We were very hungry by then. Great Smash Burger. 2 patties, sharp cheddar chesse, red onions. Needs no further toppings, was fantastic as is, with herbed steak fries that were fresh and crispy. My sister had the Salmon Cesar Salad, crispy grilled salmon with actual Croutons. The last place we ate didn't garnish with croutons. How hard is it to make a piece of herb toasted bread, I make them all the time, it takes 6 minutes. She said it was really terrific. See pic. Very busy and popular among the local people in quaint Fredericksburg. If you are going north on i95 keep going past Richmond and stop in beautiful Fredericksburg, you'll be happy you did. The menu has some great dishes all moderately priced. 20 to 25 bucks per person average. They were still serving breakfast when we arrived, it was 3or so o'clock, that may be just a weekend thing. I didn't ask. I was distracted and tempted by the biscuits and gravy. I was a chef in New Orleans for 3 years and love all sorts of Southern cuisine. A great place to bring family and friends.

Yelp
Great lunch in the vault! Server was prompt, and our meals were delicious. Great value for the price.

Yelp
We ate here to celebrate my daughter's engagement and it was not worth what they charge. The service was average and the seating wasn't the most comfortable. The menu is limited and skimpy on what you get. I had swordfish that was tasty, but only had a sauce with literally only a few carrots and beans all for $30. The meal here is $10 less with a salad, sides, and dessert at Bonefish where I'd rather go.
google avatar

Yelp
It was getting close to dinner time (couple hours away) and my sister in law was cooking at home. But I was hungry now! I remember they told me about Foode and it was close by; so I made an excuse to leave the house. It only took me about eight minutes to drive there. It was about 2pm and the lunch crowd was mostly gone. There were a few spaces at the bar; so I grab a seat. The bartender asked what I'd like to drink and I opted for water and a menu. I read about the steak tacos and they were actually on the breakfast menu. I asked about them and found out they were still available; so I placed an order. These were served breakfast style with scrambled eggs in them. Let me tell you, these were meaty, tender, and delicious! I never had breakfast tacos this good in Texas where they're common! If you want a special treat, order these! Hell, order these as appetizers and share them before your meals!
google avatar

Amber N.

Yelp
Beautiful atmosphere and great service. It smelled heavenly inside the entire time from the smell of biscuits baking. The potatoes were perfectly crispy and seasoned. The best quiche I have ever had. Great balance of flavor inside and the crust outside was absolutely incredible.

Yelp
My partner and I had the best experience here - I think this restaurant is one you should definitely check out! Ambiance: super cute, stylish, and clean. Another location where you can hang/eat inside a bank vault :) Service: wonderful - they were helpful for me in finding delicious gluten free options (which is actually a lot of the menu!) Food/drink: delicious!! Flavorful, fresh, and fun to look at. Loved it!

Erin K.

Yelp
The stake platter was great and the black bean burger was awesome. Rosie's fried chicken sandwich was perfect. The service was amazing

Inga S.

Yelp
We came here for lunch on a Friday afternoon and were seated in the vault section of the restaurant. While the vault is a really cool space, the ceiling is very low, hence the acoustics are far from ideal. Unfortunately, we were seated next to a party of five very loud people, so it ruined our dining experience. Furthermore, while the service was fine, we were really disappointed with the food. My husband got a fried chicken sandwich. The chicken was utterly dry and tasteless. The bun tasted like it came straight out of a plastic bag from the grocery store, and the accompanying french fries were on par with what you'd get at a school cafeteria. I ordered the smoked salmon biscuit. While the fish was good, the biscuit was a tasteless rock solid piece of dough. The best part of the meal were the beignets we got for dessert. All in all a big disappointment...
google avatar

Mel K.

Yelp
Everything five stars! Our waitress was fantastic, the old bank vibe was really cool. I opted to try a specialty cocktail, the "Around The Way Girl." It was beyond yummies! I opted for "today's quiche" which turned out to be bacon and ricotta. It was simply amazing and very filling all on its own. My husband opted for "today's omelette" which was a chicken sausage and feta. He very much enjoyed his choice as well.

Yelp
I cannot remember the last time I ate at the same place twice in one day. That's exactly what happened when we tried Foode. From the great service, to the historic atmosphere, it was a delicious experience. My favorite dish of the day was steak tacos. But the honey ginger panna cotta ran a close second. Great place!

Yelp
First time dining with Foode and everything was spot on. From the soup, to the wings and the steak sandwich. Phenomenal service, friendly atmosphere and easy to get to. Love how they converted the old bank building and will certainly return for dinner.

Yelp
Traveling from Baltimore with a detour to the wonderful town of Fredericksburg on the way back to Staunton, we were able to grab a GREAT lunch, maybe dinner, at this spot!! Cool vibes off the charts. We sat in their BANK VAULT seating which was so cool! They were serving their happy hour menu with small bites. We got most of them! Homemade sour dough bread, pimento cheese toast, charcuterie, and crispy wings! All so good!! Service was friendly and attentive. We will be back and highly recommend!!

Yelp
Brunch at this quaint spot on a cold n windy morning is like living in a romantic Virginian fable. The restaurant sits atop a hill on the fridge of Princess Anne St. It's clean, it's carefully chaotic, it's local, and it's damn good. I've never been displeased nor disappointed with my orders; meals are easily customizable and the restaurant itself is beautiful. The building seems to be a reclaimed house or inn that accommodates a buzzing staff and all of the patrons it can fit. The service is quick at the bar, and the food is always hot! The staff is comminutive and friendly and the seats are just close enough to meet n greet your neighbors. I'd suggest this to Fredericksburg natives and travelers alike. Foode is a beautiful representation of artisanal cuisine cultivated from a culmination of local resources and cooperatives. I can't wait for more brunches with the people I love in a place that seemingly strives to love us back.

Yelp
The food is consistently good, though priced rather high due to their location and foot traffic. Service is very average and why I give 4 stars instead of 5.

Yelp
This is THE place to be for brunch! It's hard to favor just one or two menu items as all are delicious. And the service is excellent!

Yelp
The food was delicious. We ate outside because it was very pleasant. The service may have been a bit slower because we were outside but we weren't in any hurry. The only thing I would warn about is that the bill notes that there is a 5% charge for using a credit card yet my bill was not reduced even though I paid cash, and was the same as others in my party who used a credit card. Also when I asked the server for change for a twenty, she only brought me five dollar bills which would have been over a 25% tip.

Yelp
I read the good reviews about this place, so we decided to have a late lunch at Foode. Parking was easy as most of the historic district has free 2 hour parking during the daytime....We parked 50 yards away from the restaurant. As we walked towards the restaurant we noticed the nice outdoor seating area, but we decided to eat indoors and take the "old bank" architecture. Our hostess was sweet, welcoming and friendly. We got a nice table for two and promptly we got the menus. I got a Cobb Salad with Salmon and my husband got the Fredricksburger with truffle fries... Both were really good...the fries could had been crisper, but overall it was a great meal. The ambiance, the service and the menu options were all perfect... a nice place for a meal in Fredericksburg.
