FoodSmith is a great spot to grab a bite. I’m a foodie at heart and I love having this gem in my neighborhood. The staff is great, the atmosphere is on point, and the food is tasty. This trip I tried the parmesan garlic wings and they were perfectly crispy, and exploding with flavor. The pub pizzette was really good too. Have you ever heard of shaved apples on a pizza? Me either, but it’s a flavor combination that hits the spot. My favorite go to item is the crispy chicken sandwich. So far everything I’ve tried has been delicious. Stop in for a bite, you won’t regret it.

Going to miss seeing Courtney’s wonderful self and having her serve/bartend here. Service was good, food was a hit or miss. Had a really good burger and some decent mac and cheese for dinner here. But none of the appetizers beside the cheese curds were that yummy. Shrimp nachos, fries, and spring rolls missed the mark for me. Some items seemed pretty pricey.

Google
Nice upscale neighborhood eatery. I'm not a fan of the 5% kitchen staff fee, fully support them getting paid fairly, just find these extra line item charges on already high priced meals to be price deception. I ordered a beer and the reuben. The bartender wasn't much help with the menu. The corned beef was delicious and definitely great quality but the sandwich is pretty greasy. I found the pub fries limp and underwhelming. I wouldn't make this a destination but if you're looking for pub fare in this area and want an upscale atmosphere.

We have enjoyed the Foodsmith for years. Everything from a simple watermelon feta salad to their perfectly cooked lamb is fantastic. We had a blast at their wine and cheese social this evening. You can tell they have a team that cares. Great service every time and enjoyable atmosphere. We hope to partner with Foodsmith for future company events.

Google
Foodsmith is amazing!! The food is so unique and delicious. Alyssa was my server/bartender, and she made the experience so fun and positive! She also gave me great recommendations for food and drinks. Chef Robert also made phenomenal food! Go over and see Alyssa and Robert and get some awesome food!

Stopped in for trivia on Saturday night! Loved the menu and food here. The blackberry lemonade was good, but the lavender lemonade was a bit too sweet. We ordered the Brussel sprouts which were delicious! The harvest salad and chicken sandwich were also really good. Our server rushed us a quite a bit near the end, even though it was clear we were there for trivia and would be staying (there was no need for extra tables anyway). She came around too many times, cleared plates with food still on them without asking, and went so far as to wait at our table to watch me finish my last bites of salad so she could take my plate away… it was a bit rude and pushy. Otherwise, really enjoyed the evening and playing trivia here.

Google
Decent food and a good club sandwich. Lots of beers on tap. September 2024: I hadn't been here in a while so we stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night. They were having trivia night but they found us a table in their annex room and said we could play trivia too. They never gave us a tablet or instructions to play and forgot about us for a while. Waitress takes our beer order and funny thing is, I can see through the barn doors on the wall to the bar. The bartender is fraternizing with two people at the bar that he was VERY interested in and was not making drinks or pouring beers, including ours. 15 minutes go by and I see waitresses start pouring their own beer orders because he is too busy. I was about to walk out and leave but he finally poured our beers and our poor waitress delivered them in seconds. But no apology for the wait. Food was very good, the havarti club for me and salmon and rice bowl for my wife. Waitress didn't check on us to see how our food was, just cleared our plates when done. The bill comes and there is an automatic 5% kitchen wage charge added. I don't agree with that policy.

Keep this quaint neighborhood restaurant/bar alive! We need this in our hood! Delicious unpretentious food, amazing wait staff, yummy cocktails and for my Dad-Hamm's beer. The food was phenomenal! Loved the turkey sandwich, steak was so good, spaetzle was a treat. I need to go back for trivia night on Saturdays!

Allie M.

Yelp
Food 5/5 - This place has been in my list to try for awhile! The food was absolutely delicious! The spring rolls and teriyaki steak bites were flavorful and yummy. The wild and rice bead on the turkey harvest club was so good. Also loved that there was a mocktail list! Service 5/5 - We were here around 3:00pm on a Saturday and it was busy at all. Our waiter was extremely helpful and friendly. Ambiance 5/5 - The ambiance was a laid back bar vibe with great tunes. I could foresee parking being an issue but overfill great food and experience!

Yelp
Stopped into this Austrian bistro on a Friday afternoon for a couple drinks and early dinner. It's a modern, bright space with a nice decor and big front facing windows. The kitchen is partially which I think makes for an awesome experience offering transparency to diners. There is also an event space behind the bar. I took a seat at the bar as I always do. Upon arrival it was just me at the bar and only a few tables sat. By time I left the entire restaurant and bar were packed. The bartender, Courtney, was awesome. Super friendly. Had a few nice chats with her which is exactly why I like sitting at the bar. She was also prompt about refilling water and asking if I wanted another drink as my beverage became low. Cocktails were $2 off for happy hour. I took full advantage. Cherry Walnut Old Fashioned. Beautiful drink. Loved it. Manhattan. Sold drink. If I could do it again it would be two of the Old Fashioneds. I ordered the Chimichurri Butter Burger. From the menu: "Black Angus beef blend with chimichurri butter, pepper jack, lettuce, avocado mayo on toasted milk bun" - It was delicious. And the fries were OUTSTANDING. Definitely a great stop if you are in the West St. Paul area. Not sure it's worth an out of the way adventure based on where you live in the cities. I know I plan on making more visits though.

Yelp
One of the best salads I have ever had. And salad can be done wrong in so many ways but these guys put together a combination that works. I got the salad with beets and oranges with parmesan sprinkled on top. You also found nuts mixed in with the spinach which paired well. The dressing was light but was enough to commingle all the ingredients. A winner for sure.

Gene L.

Yelp
Great Ruben, dark beer and our server was wonderful. Only challenge was parking for handicap vehicle.

Matt M.

Yelp
Great food & service. Chef is from Germany and came to our table to talk with us during our meal!

Victor M.

Yelp
We decided to stop here for a bite to eat and the food was fantastic. The service was great we had Cheyenne who made sure we were taking care of ans made some great recommendations. The Brussel spouts came out and the were not crunchy like I liked them but the bourbon maple glaze made me rethink my likes and dislikes. They were so good we ate them all. The nachos came out next and the shrimp was cooked to perfection. The nacho fixings tasted fresh and it had the right amount of heat. The next item was the creme brulee. Well im a big on creme brulee and that makes me judge others very harshly. The creme brlulee here is very creamy and rich. The consistency was a little too soft and could of been baked longer. I did not detect any vanilla beans in it at all. The burnt sugar on top was fantastic and had that nice crunch you want when you hit it with your spoon. I have had lots of creme brulee in Minnesota and this one makes it on my list. I will need to try it again so I will be going back.

Jess K.

Yelp
Amazing food and drink menu! I had the Walnut Old Fashion with the adult Mac n cheese with added bacon. Came with a beautiful little side salad. Highly recommend, and will be back to try the many other things I wanted on the menu!

Michael K.

Yelp
Had a great time today for lunch with friends on Saturday. We were looking to try something local that we hadn't tried before and we chose FoodSmith. There was only one waitress taking orders for the whole restaurant but she did a great job! We all ordered the Turkey Havarti Club with side salads and also got a basket of fries for the table, their fries are so good! The sandwiches were really good too, grilled to perfection, ample havarti, and fresh ingredients. We also ordered some mimosas, I tried the elderberry mimosa which was light and refreshing, subtly sweet. The salads also looked pretty good, so I'm excited to come back sometime and try some other offerings. Of note, brunch is only on Sundays but you can order any of the brunch cocktails any other day of the week.

Yelp
Uffda...my first dining experience out in MN in 2023 and it was a bust. There's no diversity at this restaurant, there's only one group of diners. This doesn't impact my rating, just a note for those that like to see diversity when stepping into an establishment. The ambiance was nice and our server tried really hard, we can see her clearly stressed and trying to keep it together, but there were some strange things that happened. Two stars for the odd effort, but the food was some of the worst I've had in a while. We had a small group of 5 for trivia night, the host had a lot of energy and did great. The restaurant itself was understaffed, so everything was extremely slow, I get that. My issue is that we'd ask for water, plates, and silverware and we had to ask multiple people as our food got cold until we got our own. This was a three hour meal, it should not have been. The crispy chicken sandwich was not crispy, I think it was previously frozen, it was flappy, flavorless, and almost nonexistent, it was all bun. The pub wings were more of a Dominos Buffalo sauce than Carolina hot sauce, they were not hot or crispy, they were sad, super deep in a depression. My Foodsmith salad was flavorless and had globs of cheese. A couple of off putting things happened with the staff. Another couple ordered the Foodsmith salad with medium rare steak and the server that brought it out said "here's your cow..." It's was an unappealing description and seemed judgy. Another friend ordered a second glass of wine, our server brought it and started to pour the remnants of her 1st glass into the new glass, but we stopped her....whoa. I've never seen this in my life. They need some training for sure, but I wouldn't be back because of the food, it just wasn't anything redeeming on the food front.

Yelp
Went for Sunday brunch and it was amazing in all aspects. The Farmer's Breakfast Pan will probably be in my mind for days to come (loved the side salad!), the blueberry pancakes were delicious (loved the syrup and whipped cream), and my wife got the Viennese breakfast with sausage and loved it (she said they were the best scrambled eggs she thinks she's ever had). I ate it all, pal. Parking on the street right outside the restaurant was super easy. The service was all incredibly friendly and attentive, and the place has a wonderful vibe. So glad we found this place - we'll be back!

Ashlyn A.

Yelp
I invited this beautiful restaurant in West St. Paul tonight! Their craft cocktail menu had plenty of great sounding and I went with the French Mule. We indulged in 2 amazing appetizers, 2 entrées, and ended with a shared dessert. The service was amazing and helped with anything we needed. It's super close to my house and I'm excited to try more food on the menu. food featured: grilled shrimp nachos, Italian Sausage Pizzette, Bacon Bier Cheeseburger, Crispy Chicken Sandwich, & Chocolate Ganache Torte Whipped Cream . . Happy hour: Monday 4-5 & Tuesday-Sunday 2:30 to 5pm Wine & Dine night: Wednesday after 5pm Trivia night: Saturday @ 7:30 Sunday brunch 11-2pm

Yelp
We were excited to see a new restaurant opening in our area a couple of years ago. I was curious myself why I only saw a certain type of customer going there and then when we finally tried it, I realized why they were the main kind of customer going. The food was awful. It was blunt, no seasoning, no good flavor. When I asked for something spicy they gave me the spicy level equivalent of a single pickled yellow pepper. The space is nice and all but it doesn't help at all. I will never be eating there again. Unless someone pays for me because they invited me there and I wouldn't wanted to be rude.

Tim P.

Yelp
Nice decor, solid food (we both had burgers) and great staff. If you are looking for a neighborhood bar with very good food - hit FoodSmith. We will definitely be back.

Shannon O.

Yelp
First time here for a birthday dinner with girlfriends. There was one server working and they were also the bartender and the hostess. Had to track them down for refills and ended up going into the kitchen area to get the ketchup bottle myself because I couldn't find her to ask for more ketchup. Food was nothing great and I'm pretty easy to please. Had a burger and the bottom of the bun was so soggy as was the lettuce placed under the burger. Waitstaff could have cared less it was my birthday when she brought out the slice of cake I ordered while I was opening gifts. Some restaurants would add a candle, some would give you a complimentary dessert. I would have taken a "happy birthday" from this woman. Not a great experience. How a business has one person working at 6pm taking care of the phone, seating people, take out orders, the bar and the restaurant is not good business.

Stacey S.

Yelp
Solid food. Great service. Good ambiance. Easy place to go eat and hang for a while.

Tracey F.

Yelp
Love the concept of this place, upscale gastropub. I'll first say, we will definitely be back to try some things on the menu that piqued our interest, but didn't have room in the gullet for. I tried the crispy chicken sandwich, guys had the bacon bier burger. I love chicken sandwiches and feel compelled to try then anywhere they are on the menu. I really liked the slaw on the sandwich, but I found the chicken a bit odd. It seemed like two chicken breast strips, rather than a thigh or full breast like I'm used to. This lended to the sandwich being really sloppy. Still tasted good, but I left about a third of it behind, since it just didn't hold together all that well. Fries were really tasty. Hubs said the burger was good, but didn't love the bacon on it, it was just too greasy for him. They do trivia here on Saturday nights as well, if you're looking for a little extra fun.

Shannon V.

Yelp
Upon driving up to this restaurant there is very limited parking. There is patio seating and the indoor interior design is great. We ordered the warm pub pretzles for our 4 year old as the kids menu was not available. She loved them. Not so much the cheese dip. I ordered the grilled turkey havarti. It was definitely not a grilled turkey that was served. It was deli meat turkey. Still good, just not what I pictured from the menu description. My husband ordered the crispy chicken sandwich which he enjoyed throughly. The bathrooms are also well kept and clean. Only complaint is the water gets very hot and as far as I can tell you can not control it.

mark ..

Yelp
We were a table for 4 on 2/17. The place looked very nice. Two Reubens, a pub burger, a fish sandwich and fries. and a few Mimosas. All the food was very good, including the Mimosas. How often does that happen? We were greeted at the door. The service was excellent. The only negative was the apple strudel. No one liked it. Two big thumbs up. We shall return! Rate 4.5 stars. Mark S.

Dayna S.

Yelp
Music was too loud for conversation but the food was excellent! We all shared different meals and drinks, much needed in this area!

Hnou V.

Yelp
The food here is high quality and delicious. I had the wild rice stuffed chicken and my fiance had the goulash. The polenta that came with the goulash is the absolute best thing we ate here. It was so smooth and creamy. I wish there was more! The second best thing we ate was the creme brulee. I was not blown away by the cocktails though. Staff were lovely people. I can't wait to come back!

Dan S.

Yelp
It's nice to find what I call an evening type dining place open for lunch. Nice decor, reasonable price and high quality food. Not many customers the afternoon we were there. But they made it through Covid so they should succeed. Try and find it without looking up the address. It's a bit hidden in a small neighborhood shopping center in West St. Paul, two blocks from St. Paul, three blocks from Mendota Heights...and only a half mile from the northern boundary of obscure but scenic Lilydale! Great Chinese takeout place next door too!

Jennie S.

Yelp
FoodSmith is local to us, so we've been a few times. I keep thinking it's going to be as good as our first dinner but they seem to be just serving average overpriced food these days. I sent back my mushy Brussels sprouts the other day to get them back heated up and still mushy. I very much wish they'd up their game.

Elena A.

Yelp
GreAt place .. highly recommended Nice audience Great condition Service Good , all

Eric S.

Yelp
Hate leaving bad reviews... the good parts. Staff was helpful and nice. The ambience was really good. The building tables chairs floor all is are nice and clean.nowww to the food part. I'm a foodie and have tried maannny restaurants in multiple different countries... we ordered about 8 items on the menu. Steak bites, steak salad, both underwhelming. Salad was ok. Chicken wings were a little gummy but flavor was not horrible. Chicken sandwich was over all no good. Bun was bigger than the chicken... we ordered shrimp nachos. Doesn't have any cheese on the chips and the chips were very plain and hard to enjoy. Macaroni and cheese was eh... again I hate leaving bad reviews. I love the idea of what this place could be. I'd personally get a big smoker and start offering smoked ribs, chicken and brisket. Just use some seasoning! lol.. sorry for the bad review but it's just as honest as I could be. Also the prices are pretty high.... Oh, The French fries were awesome!!!

Bridget K.

Yelp
We came here for happy hour on a Sunday. It was kind of a strange time so it was pretty empty and we got the whole patio to ourselves! Happy hour included $2 off cocktails and $5 apps. We got the rum runner and whiskey sour, both were good! We got all of the $5 apps which included fries, Brussels sprouts, pretzel bites, and cheese curds. The fries were good and served with a special aioli. The cheese curds were not very standard (they were fried more like a mozzarella stick as opposed to a thinner fry that I'm more familiar with for cheese curds), but they were still pretty good. The pretzel bites were served with a slightly spicy queso. My favorite was the Brussels sprouts! Super roasted and had a fabulous balsamic glaze. Definitely get these when you go! Finally we got the fried chicken sandwich which was honestly one of the best I've had. Such a thin, crispy fry, with a fabulous coleslaw and sauce. So so good! Our server was so friendly and attentive to us throughout the meal. Had such a great time here and will definitely return!

Peter F.

Yelp
Finally went here after hearing good things from others and will definitely come back. Good but not overwhelming selection of tap beers (14), so two flights of four each allowed us to sample a good range of them. Pub fries and burgers were great. Homemade chicken noodle soup was awesome. It's slightly higher than average prices but higher than average food quality, so was a good value for us for date night. Plenty of seating in a variety of table sizes. Has a neighborhood bar feel but is not a dive bar or sports bar so that's a nice alternative.

Alyssa W.

Yelp
Foodsmith is a place of warmth. The atmosphere is truly friendly, our server was kind and very considerate. The food was absolutely divine, I ordered the special, the short ribs with polenta ! The meat was tender and full of flavor, and the polenta balanced it beautifully. A meal that is perfect for a Minnesotan winter. I definitely recommend trying the specials , they truly do not disappoint. I will definitely be coming back. Everyone should experience Foodsmith, it is truly a hidden gem of Saint Paul !

Mari O.

Yelp
Wonderful menu! We had the oven roasted Salmon, 6 of 5 and the chicken schnitzel 5 of 5. Service was fantastic. The reason for 4 of 5 is the noise level. It could be an age thing, but not a quiet, comfortable meal. The high tops by the bar overlook booth seating, maybe rethink that. None of the negatives take away from the food or the service. Just go!

Catherine W.

Yelp
This spot has great food and a fun trivia night! The fried chicken sandwich was good.

Debbie S.

Yelp
From the outside you may think it's just a strip mall. Inside there is this cozy restaurant where the menu is very good and the walnut old fashioned is amazing!! Absolutely love it. Attentive and knowledgeable waitress. Will visit them again!

Carissa E.

Yelp
This was my second time dining at food smith. There were pros and cons to each visit. My first visit I ordered the spicy crispy chicken sandwich that came with perfectly seasoned fries and it was delicious. It was fairly busy that day but our waitress took some time to check on us and gave us the bill before asking if we wanted anything else. Visit two, our waitress was attentive and gave some good suggestions on the menu , we tried the hush puppies and the combination of cheese and sauce (whatever that fruit purée was?) was good! I asked what the most popular entree on the menu was and she suggested the chicken schnitzel. I don't recommend ordering that because you will be schnitz outta luck. For $20 I got a big crispy chicken patty with fries. I thought it would be more - luxurious for some reason. Very bland and extremely disappointing.

Jade P.

Yelp
Food was a little cold, but the drinks and atmosphere are awesome! Service was quick and nice. Appetizers are a 10/10. Would eat here again.

Elizabeth D.

Yelp
TL;DR- good food (a bit overpriced). The service leaves something to be desired and overall it's grown beyond what it can manage. We enjoy coming here for trivia but it's become impossible. They don't accept reservations and have no system to give an estimate on how long it will be to get a table. We got there, put our name on, and watched groups (of similar sizes or larger) arrive after us get seated first. We asked why that was and were told it's because they had a reservation? Apparently that's an option based on who you talk to? The food is good but slightly over priced. We've ordered drinks and have watched them sit at the bar until we had to ask the bartender if they were ours- they were. I've also put in orders for appetizers that were forgotten, ordered food with no meat only to have it arrive covered in bacon, been given mixed drinks that border on undrinkably strong, and been given food I didn't ask for and then be charged for it. Given this place lots of chances for the sake of trivia but I'm running out of patience.

Sharon M.

Yelp
The food is great. Had the Austrian goulash short ribs. They were so good. My son had the salmon - also very good. We had to have dessert chocolate cake and apple strudel. Service was excellent. We will be going back.

Joe I.

Yelp
Solo diner while kiddo was stage managing a play. (I saw the play the night before.) This place was nearby and I had heard a couple of good things. Arrived and easily found a spot at the bar. Server/barkeep was attentive and friendly. The walnut old fashioned was delicious. (So I had two.) I had a beercheese burger and it was okay. Fries were fresh and hot and delicious. Overall experience was positive, just didn't love the burger. Though to be fair, I was branching out. I'd come back for sure.

Ava S.

Yelp
Very unique restaurant, it has a very German/Western European oriented menus with American cuisine flares which I really love. It is a very cute inviting restaurant, slightly dark but that doesn't bother me. Overall I had a great experience, they also have very friendly understanding staff!

Nora R.

Yelp
When I first moved back to Minnesota after being in California for over twenty years, I found this great scratch kitchen--chef-owned and operated. Love the fresh food, the great service, and the family-oriented atmosphere. Definitely stop by and see Courtney and Sarah! Chef Robert and Ann are wonderful and I love that I can support a family-owned restaurant.

Rhonda G.

Yelp
Whenever there's an elite event I end up on a date with someone from the table, cause we haven't seen each other in so long. First was Kolade for sushi and this week was Whitney C. for schnitzel. So I was an hour early and beat the rain. I think hh there is early, 3-5? Cheap bastard that I am I had to go for something while I waited and read. Cheese curds, I haven't had any since Wisconsin years back. It had an awesome cherry bbq sauce. I saved some for Whitney. I had a couple of different mocktails. Still time to kill, a great day for a one size crock of soup. It was tomato, the orange color that I love and it was delicious. Whitney arrives and wants to share a brie dip. The cristini is buttered and not so crunchy it wrecks your dental work. Loved this. Then out comes a huge portion of Austrian fried chicken schnitzel. It looked heart shaped. If I ate this whole thing there would be no hope for me. I managed to eat a lot of the cold German potato salad. Jen was our server and sweet as can be. We ended thinking about doing the brunch sometime.

Lauri B.

Yelp
I met a friend at FoodSmith for a happy hour. It was the first time I had been to the restaurant. There is very little parking at the restaurant itself, but there was plenty of on street parking. The service was great. There was only one server, who was also bartending, but kitchen staff delivered food if the server was busy. The food was excellent; however, at the end of the evening, I ordered a meal for takeout. At no time was I told there would be an additional fee for takeout. When we received our bill, there was a takeout charge of $5.65. If I had ordered the meal on a plate and asked for a takeout container, would I have been charged? I'm not sure if I'll go back, or not.

James S.

Yelp
one of best pub food around hands down great food great people no joke I highly recommend it go get you some . I know will hee here I come foreal they are burgers are good and the fish and great food go get some

David G.

Yelp
My coworker recommended Foodsmith after they had dinner here last week. After being told we "had to check it out," we did! Foodsmith is in a great little location and has a cute and cozy interior with a nice bar and clean well appointed interior. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, drinks were prompt, water was kept filled, etc. Solid service and we felt at ease even in the weirdness that is dining out during covid. I had a beer from their excellent selection, and my fiancee had a glass of wine. We decided to start with the charcuterie board, which was fresh and beautiful to look at. The burrata was creamy and delicious, the cured meats were tasty, and the pickled "salad" of carrots and peppers was a nice piquant 3lement to counterpoint the rich fattiness of the cheese and meats. My only complaint was that as with most charcuterie boards, it could have used more bread. Having to carefully dole out burrata on 3 small pieces of bread is always a bit frustrating, as you end up left with cheese and meat with nothing to put it on. Double the bread. For our mains, I got the braised pork shoulder with crispy spaetzle and roasted rutabaga. The pork was fall apart tender and unctuous with a great depth of flavor. The spaetzle was crispy ss advertised and the veg was delicious. My fiancee had the rissoles meatballs with some sort of cream sauce and I think a berry compote, but I missed what kind of berrry. Both were delicious, but the pork shoulder was the winner in our view. We finished off with the daily creme brulee, which was very tasty. Overall a very enjoyable night. Reasonable prices. Good service. Chef crafted food where you can tell the person making it gives a F* what the put out. Good waitstaff, nice decor, comfortable ambiance. Nice spot. Highly recommended.

Jen D.

Yelp
I'm not rating this any lower because I'm not one hundred percent sure I wasn't just in an irrationally bitchy mood, but this was kind of disappointing. The schnitzel was kind of dry, the potatoes were bland, the drinks were uncompelling. The spaetzle was all right, but I didn't overall feel like the quality justified the price point.

Roxanne K.

Yelp
Great food and service. Everyone there seems to be genuinely engaged in providing a great dining experience. We followed the owner from his first restaurant to this one. Love the place!

Denise F.

Yelp
Bartender Sarah is a delight. Chef is creative, delicious food mixologist. Only suggestion is to grill your Cubano. Inside decor comfortable - loved sitting bar side! We'll be back.

Mike S.

Yelp
We live in the neighborhood and it it's one of our date night evenings. It's trendy, classy and not expensive. Great beer and wine menus. We've gone there every 3 weeks since it opened.

Rachel E.

Yelp
Get the wild rice chicken and the Brussels sprouts. I'm looking forward to trying many more things on their menu! Great staff!

Miles A.

Yelp
5 STARS! We ordered the Bistro Burger & Pulled Pork Sandwich. The Light Coconut Porter does not disappoint.... so much yum, seriously! All of it was so lovely! We will be back. Often. The staff is so much fun to interact with, and they are so kind. If you are seated at the bar... there is a good chance you'll be interacting with a bartender named Joe, if not ask for him. The guy is on his A-game! So much yum, Miles & Matt

Nancy A.

Yelp
Referred to this restaurant by a friend who works in W St Paul. W O W!! I had the chicken breast entree and my friend had the grilled salmon topped salad. The asparagus in my dish was superb and the chicken was tender & juicy. The polenta cake was perfect. My friend nearly licked her plate clean! I had the Warsteiner Pils that was beautifully cold and flavorful with no hoppy bitterness (which I prefer). I will be going back! You should go, too! You & your pooch are welcome on the patio. Oh! Their COVID precautions were good. I would add either an offering of hand sanitizer upon being seated or having a bottle at reception.

Yelp
Great neighborhood restaurant. Menu changes which could be good or bad. Especially when they remove your favorite dish. But always replaced with different delicious dishes. We frequently go here, sometimes just for beverages and apps and sometimes for larger weekend meals. Never been disappointed. Chicken schnitzel is always a fave. Staff are very friendly and always a pleasure to chat with.

Yelp
Just got back from a delightful lunch on the Foodsmith patio with a friend. We split the soup of the day a delicious, cool summer squash gazpacho. It was smooth and silky, with a few chunks of cucumber and a sprinkling of tender herbs on top; just the right bite for a summer afternoon. We also appreciated that our server was willing to split the soup serving as well as the cost of the soup on the check for us. We also each had a lovely coffee, brown-sugar rubbed flank steak salad. The salad was delicious - very fresh romaine and tomatoes with a nice tart vinaigrette. My only complaint would be I could taste neither coffee nor brown sugar. The little patio was a perfect spot to have a conversation and be socially distanced. The staff were very conscientious about balancing checking on us, with giving a bit of distance. I will definitely be back.
