How Jacob Bindman Is Fighting Food Insecurity in San Francisco | Eater

"A San Francisco nonprofit focused on urban education around sustainable agriculture that operates the city’s Ferry Building market and programming. It serves as an early-access hub for youth and volunteers, connecting them with chefs, restaurateurs, and farmers and offering hands-on experiences like cooking demos. Over time it has functioned as an intersection of Bay Area food communities, fostering relationships that lead young volunteers into kitchen work and deeper engagement with sustainable food systems." - Hillary Dixler Canavan

CSA Boxes and Farm Deliveries Serving San Francisco During Coronavirus - Eater SF

"CUESA is doing its own farm box, for maybe the first time ever. It’s a roundup of some of the loveliest offerings from the Ferry Plaza Farmers’ Market, which is great for the smaller farms, who might not grow enough different types of produce to round out a full box. Order ahead and pull up at the curb on Saturdays." - Becky Duffett

Yelp
Foodwise is a non-profit supporting youth education on nutrition and the food eco-system. They support farmers and other food providers who are environmentally oriented. Last night I attended the Summer Ferry Festival, a fundraiser for Foodwise. It was awesome! Fine dining restaurants Epic Steak and Boulevard offered bites of food with half a dozen or more Napa Valley wineries pouring tastes. A fantastic event with delicious food, wine, entertainment and activities. Foodwise + San Francisco Ferry Building Marketplace are a great team!

Yelp
Annual fundraising gala for CUESA. Evening started with a reception on the main level of the Ferry Building, with stations of appetizers from well known restaurants. Think caviar, sushi from Pabu, Hog Island oysters, and plenty of drinks. The four course dinner, accompanied with wine pairing, was prepared by 40 of some of the most well-known chefs in all of San Francisco. Different tables were served different foods and wines, depending on which chefs were responsible for your table. For example, our table had food prepared by Brandon Jew of Mister Jiu's, Raj Dixit of Michael Mina's, and wine by Ridge. With the line up of renowned chefs from high caliber restaurants, I'm sure all 500 attendees were more than pleased. The sit-down dinner took place in an absolutely beautifully stunning venue, the upstairs of the Ferry Plaza Building. VIP tickets were also available. One of the highlights of the evening, held just before dessert, was a lively and entertaining auction, conducted by Bay Area celebrity, Liam Mayclem. There was an opportunity to bid on a variety of items, including a "Michelin-Starred Dinner in Your Home: A Private 4-course meal for 10, by Mark Sullivan of Spruce." Bidding started at $6,000, but it sold to the lucky bidder for $15,000. Proceeds all going to a good cause, of course. So much to love about this first class event!

Yelp
As part of SF Cocktail Week, CUESA hosted the Farmer's Market Happy Hour (http://www.7x7.com/eat-drink/market-watch-farmers-market-happy-hour-features-citys-brightest-bartenders) with 12 mixologists and 6 restaurants (including 15 Romolo, Comstock Saloon, 4505 Meats, Plant Café Organic and Hog & Rocks) serving up drinks and hors d'oeuvres. It was $40 per person and included 2 full sized cocktails and then tastes from all the rest (not limited to 1 taste per person). Limited number of tickets so it was full, but not too crowded and you didn't have to wait to try anything. All of the drinks and bites were really tasty and I didn't see any table run out of anything except 15 Romolo which had to modify their Copa, Feta, Watermelon, Pepper skewer to just Watermelon & Pepper when their Copa wrapped Feta balls ran dry. 4505 was odd with no human (that I could see) attendance, just several strategically placed bowls of chicharrones. The pescatarian g/f thought they were shrimp chips and downed a bite before I informed her . . . DOH! Fun event with proceeds benefiting CUESA

Yelp
My husband and I attended CUESA's fall party, The Chemistry of the Cocktail: Fall Cocktails of the Farmers Market, at the Ferry Building Marketplace. What a party! Cocktails using what's in season at the farmers market, little bites from restaurants all over the city, Farmers Market Jeopardy game and food demonstrations from CUESA made this a really fun event! Our tickets entitled each of us to two full-sized cocktails, seven bites, and about a dozen sample cocktails, many of which had craft spirits in them. Some of the drinks we sampled were surprisingly stiff. I really prefer ones that are more balanced! My favorites cocktails were Bourbon and Branch's The Winter Date which had Slow Hand Whiskey, Egg Whites, Agave Nectar and Lemon Verbena, and Novela's Sagan Punch which had St. George Pear Liqueur and Pear Brandy, fresh pear and apple juices, orange peel, lemon juice, sugar and honey. I would have liked more of that delicious Winter Date! As for the food, my favorites were the Lobster and Shrimp Fideo (combination of seafood and linguica worked well), the Lamb Meatballs (loved that it was spicy and savory), and the Smoked Salmon with Cauliflower Purée and Salmon Caviar (wonderful especially the salmon caviar). I might have to pay a visit to Comstock Saloon for more of that lamb meatball and 15 Romolo for more of that Fideo! We had a great time! From the looks of things and the din of the crowd, everyone seemed to be having a good time. We will definitely be on the lookout for more CUESA events!

Yelp
I went to Cuesa for Farm Fresh Cocktails night. Yummm. Some of the hottest bartenders in the city were there, representin' Elixir, Rye and Beretta, and muddling exotic herbs and fruits with high end hard liquors. Could a girl ask for more??? Cuesa is at the Ferry Building, and they put on amazing events like cooking demonstrations by local chefs and flower arranging classes. Check out their events page (http://www.cuesa.org/events/calendar/) for demos from the chefs at Greens, Fish & Farm, etc. People from the Fatted Calf and frog Hollow Farms will also be sharing recipes. This is the ultimate find for any (aspiring) foodie. Sign me up!

Yelp
Interesting organization. I love the Farmer's Market at the Ferry Building on Saturdays. BTW, CUESA stands for Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture.

Yelp
CUESA is a fantastic organization that hosts a wide variety of educational/delicious events around issues of sustainable agriculture. From free cooking demos and seasonal produce tastings at the farmer's markets, to organized farm tours of local vendors, to screenings/discussions of current sustainable agriculture issues, CUESA offers many opportunities to better understand where food comes from (and what's good right now!). Thanks to CUESA, the Ferry Plaza market is much more than just a place to snag some pretty vegetables. Keep up the awesome work!

Yelp
BIG fan of CUESA and the events they sponsor Last week's cocktail event held in conjunction during SF Cocktail Week was awesome. You get 12 different cocktails crafted by the best bartenders in the city, 6 the first hour and 6 the second hour coupled with tasty bites from different restaurants to help coat your tummy before imbibing on the tasty drinks. Faves of the night: Scott Baird of 15 Romolo Erick Castro of Bourbon & Branch Brian MacGregor of Jardiniere *Their drinks were sooo tasty and found myself coming back for more and more.... Rick Hackett from Market Bar serving Prather Ranch Sliders Andy Wai from Heaven's Dog serving Braised Pork Belly Drinks were delectable, food was yummy and the event was great on the perfect night with the perfect weather. Couldn't have asked for more

Yelp
Lovely concept, and lovely Farmers Markets. Alas, the weekly newsletter is next to useless - just self-promotion and misinformation. Frequently, fruits and vegetables listed as This Week's Picks are wildly out of season, and not available at the Ferry Building, or any place else, during the week they are featured. Unfortunately, they also fail to mention special items that actually ARE in season, such as Damson plums or persimmons. And the volunteers at the CUESA booth have no idea WHERE the featured produce might be located among the dozens of vendors even when things ARE, in fact, in season. A big disappointment. It would be so easy to have an accurate and informative newsletter and shopping list. Somebody else should do this - it would be a great service to us locavores. Just as true now, April, 2017, as it was three years ago. These people are not just disorganized - they are totally incompetent. Perhaps yet another front for squandering city funds?

Yelp
This farmers market it's such an amazing fun gathering that happens rain or shine ever Saturday morning (8am-2pm) yearlong at the Ferry building. I have been there at least 4 times now and I love coming with friends, walking around and choosing all different foods from different vendors and then eating at the branches by the water. They always have different musicians playing live music, they have so many options if you are interested in buying produce or local homemade goods (baked goods, body creams and cosmetics, kimchi, honey, etc.) I love it! CUESA also hosts events like cooking demos and some interesting events (I signed up for a panel discussion on reframing the food system and am super excited about it!). So... basically, give it a try CUESA farmers market is AWESOME. Also, I found online they also have a rain or shine year round market every Sunday in Oakland. I haven't tried it yet but will give it a try soon and will update this review and tell you what I think!

Yelp
Very impressed with their mission to cultivate a sustainable food system and their execution of it through their fantastic farmer's markets and educational field trips. Great organization! Great field trips! Great farmer's market!

Yelp
BOOO! BAD customer service from CUESA info booth. Rude, impatient staff, specifically Lulu Meyer. For someone who is supposed to be the Associate Director of Operations she seems to be lacking in basic customer service skills.
