Ordered clay pot chicken rice and special premium waxed meat. According to menu, one small clay pot is good for 1pax so ordered one pot each as above plus one watercress soup. We sacrificed having veggie as we were worried we couldn’t finish. And true enuff - it was too much for both of us. The taste was alright, there were lotsa crusty rice and it was good and crunchy. The good thing is the rice doesn’t stick to the clay pot but that was bcos it was very oily. It was also very salty as could see feel the saltiness on my tongue even after 1 1/2 hours after the meal. The soup was flat and not warm enough - like some have commented, it wasn’t worth ordering. The whole order was rm58.90 including one Barley ice. The wait was about 45mins from queuing to getting the food. Service was pretty good as they hv a live queue system and u punch in no of pax and it will generate a queue number automatically while informing u how many more numbers to wait before your turn. IMHO, not Michelin worthy for its food as per the status plus it’s expensive. I could get better clay pot rice at a cheaper price in a non Michelin star Resto in DJ.

We came to try the claypot chicken rice here although the popular one is at Heun Kee nearby. The place is not big and during crowded days, there will surely be a long queue outside. So the owners have a page of rules for those who dine in. The place gets stuffy inside when it gets filled up although it’s opened up and have ceiling fans blasting at full speed. It got uncomfortable as you dined. In this aspect, Heun Kee is better as it’s air conditioned inside. Now comes to the food part. The signature chicken claypot rice in two sizes - M or L. Price certainly not cheap for a Michelin star place. It’s well loaded with chicken meat & Chinese sausage, well marinated but the rice could be better. The side dishes we ordered being steamed vegetables & prawn paste fried chicken were good overall. The soup though was below par. I wouldn’t recommend ordering the soup. Didn’t have that many hours boiling taste. Overall, the claypot chicken rice is above average but I may not return any time soon as it’s really not very comfortable.

This time we decided to try Foong Lian Claypot Chicken Rice (丰年瓦煲美食馆) in KL, located right beside the famous stall that everyone talks about. Naturally, we were curious to see how it compares. Unfortunately, I have to say that the one next door still packs more punch — the aroma, the char, and that smoky rice fragrance really stand out more. That said, Foong Lian’s version was still a good pot of claypot rice — the ingredients were fresh, the rice nicely cooked, and the sauce well-balanced, just not as memorable. There weren’t many people when we visited, which made dining comfortable, and interestingly, this shop also holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition. Overall, it’s a decent choice if you’re around the area, but if you’re after that truly fragrant, smoky claypot flavor, the neighbour next door still takes the crown.

Clean and seems newly renovated. Very polite service. Claypot rice is not bad but the chicken lack seasoning. The waxed meat is nice, and imparts a nice flavour to the rice. Pepper stomach soup average, not ‘Gao’ enough for my taste.

Food is excellent, and my friends and I really enjoyed our dinner. Rice is flavorful and chicken parts are succulent. Vegetables are well cooked. Certainly one of the best claypot chicken rice places I’ve tried. Wished I had tried their soups as I saw many tables had soups orders, but there’s always a next time. I just hope it doesn’t get too crowded before I visit again.

Absolutely not worth the wait. 40 minutes to get in the queue and 40 more minutes to be served. I wonder what could possibly take them so long? The kitchen is clearly stretched to its capacity. Taste is mediocre: only soy sauce flavor and the pork rib is too hard to chew. The rice is wet and not crispy at the bottom- total failure as clay pot rice. Staff is alright so I don’t want to go mean to them but to anyone who wants to come to Huen Kee but ends up eating here: do not come. NOT WORTH YOUR TIME!

Had wanted to go the nearby competitor store but got discouraged by the long queue and live chickens beside and opted to try this one. Such a blessing in disguise. Food came fast amd was really delicious. 3 food items and 2 drinks set us back RM48 but filled us up well. Came here during lunch hour and it's not crowded or warm. Place is clean and spacious. Was suprised to see a 2025 Michelin on the wall as well. Highly recommend.

The restaurant is technically close to Chan Sow Lin metro, but the walk there is pretty bad. You have to cross multiple busy roads and bridges, and pass through rundown areas just to reach it, which makes getting there hard for budget travelers like myself, if you take a grab then it's all good on this point I tried the classic chicken pot rice. It came with Chinese sausage that tasted very funky, almost like it was just nitrates with no real flavor. They also included a piece of stinky fish, wrapped in foil and burned, which gave off a really unpleasant smell. The rice was honestly the best part of the dish. The chicken portion was small and tasted a bit bland. Overall, it cost 16 ringgits, and for the price and hype, it really didn’t feel worth it.
