"Yes, the pizza here is shaped kind of like a football. But novelty aside, the crust has a perfect crispy-to-chewy ratio and it must be dipped in the house green sauce. Like, that’s an order. When budget allows, check out the full menu of Mediterranean fare familiar to those who frequented Football Pizza when it was called Crescent Moon." - Eater Staff, Will Simons

Not your regular out the box pizza but great mixture of culture to create such an awesome pizza. We ended up getting the all meat pizza which included gyro meat and make sure to ask for the green sauce with your pizza, man does it make a difference. We went with the large and wow, it was huge. Love supporting small shops like this and especially if it's good food. Definitely stop in and see these guys if you want something different from your big chain pizza guys.

The restaurant is clean. The employee that took our order was professional and pleasant. He also made recommendations. We waited longer than we expected for the food; however, the food was hot and fresh. The kabobs & kofta were tasty. The French fries were the highlight of the meal. The servings were generous. We would definitely come here again. But we probably will try the pizza. Most customers were getting pizza to go.

Visiting the Minneapolis area from Colorado and stopped in on a whim. We were not disappointed and left more rotund than when we entered. The Beef korma with rice was delicious and warm on a cold day. The pizza was full of flavor and when dipped in the green sauce the flavor explosion was unmatched! The staff were also extremely nice and service was prompt.

After many times of trying food from their menu, I finally have remembered to make a review! I first tried their food several years ago at a catered event. There was a variety of Afghani food including rice, chicken and beef shawarma, and salads. I absolutely love everything I've tried and it's all packed with flavor. However, to me, the star of the show is their pizza. It's created on fluffy but thin dough reminiscent of naan. I've tried the meat lovers and the house special and both are amazing! There is a perfect ratio of meat, veggies, cheese, and sauce. My favorite part about their pizza is their green dipping sauce. It's slightly tangy, slightly spicy - and pairs perfectly with the pizza. It elevates it to a whole different level. I love their food so much that I actually ended up catering their food and booking their event room for one of the days of my south Asian multi-day wedding functions 4 years ago. Everyone had nothing but good things to say about their food.

Wasn’t able to get a pic of the pie due to how delicious it was! Meat lovers (gyro meat, chicken and, beef) is fantastic and this green sauce compliments anything you put it on (eggs, naan, rice). Everything is pretty good here, explore the full menu.

Really great pizza with a unique style to it. Their spicy chicken pizza is probably their best, followed by their beef pepperoni (both halal, and therefore a great option for Muslims). Great for dine. Take out and they also offer frozen pizzas to take home and bake later. The only criticism is that their menu items besides pizza, leave a lot to be desired. Just get pizza from here and you'll be in for a unique and good time!

Best pizza in town. The spicy house special is always good! Don't forget the green sauce!

Ordered the Meat Lovers Pizza! 🍕😍 Keep in mind I'm a pizza fanatic/lover. Pizza keeps me breathing. On the mouthwatering pizza is gyro, beef & chicken baked to perfection! I absolutely enjoyed this pizza, it's in my top 4 for sure. 9/10 only because more sauce on the pizza is needed. The changes I would make to the sauce recipe would be to add some brown sugar for a sweeter taste, and a couple pinches of basil. The pizza crust was phenomenal, tasting homemade. Speaking of homemade, the fries tasted homemade as well. I'm also a fry fanatic/lover and these fries were delectable! 10/10 and in my top 5. Well Done and take my money! 💯

Yelp
stopped in for lunch today and ordered 3 pizzas and a chicken tikka plate and they came out with them in less than 20mins which I thought was great! The food was delicious! Hot and flavorful (I never remember to take pictures )the service was wonderful! They came out and asked how everything was and made sure we were enjoying our food as well as making a little small talk!

Yelp
I thought Chicago dominated the halal pizza market but I was wrong. Football Pizza is in the same league. We ordered the meat lovers pizza and the crust was the perfect thin crust. The restaurant serves the pizza with two sauces. Drizzle the green sauce and it makes the pizza even more flavorful. We did not get a chance to order the other entrees but hopefully next time. The restaurant decor is a little old and the chandeliers do seem out of place in a pizza joint. However, the staff was so nice and the service was quick. There is street parking available but it can get crowded.

Yelp
Read this carefully, as it may not make perfect sense... I am lucky that I don't live nearby or even within the delivery range of Football pizza. I would be a significantly heavier, much poorer person. This place has uniquely amazing pizza! I got the house special and one of each of the sauces. First thing first - this pizza blew my mind. Soooooo good! I'd go so far as to say it might be the best/my new favorite. Second, holy sauce heaven! I am going to have to buy some of the big bottles after this experience... The green is delicious. The red is probably my favorite as it tastes great and packs a punch. The white was also tasty, but takes third place in my opinion. I planned a special trip to the Minneapolis location for a Sunday lunch. If you find yourself in the area or you are blessed to be in the delivery radius -you MUST check this place out. You won't regret it... or maybe you'll get addicted and you will... I'd say it's worth taking the chance! Just don't blame me for leading you to this gem.

Yelp
Not a good experience person at counter in a phone dispute and didn't not acknowledge me the customer. He was in a dispute about another order !!! I ordered the gyro sandwich meal, and the meat burned and black..bread dry brittle and crumbling.. seems old. It's lunch time no customers (1st sign) this was my first time ordering from this place and last time. Should realized this was not going to be good from the phone conversation! Look at how dark and dry this meat is terrible.. but hey judge for yourself!

Yelp
Lovely wonderful team! FOOTBALL shaped pizza? Dang right! Great taste, awesome service and a nice place to hang - solo or with a group ;)

Ryann A.

Yelp
Fast service. Ordered for pickup. Ordered pizza, Italian salad and chicken kabob. The salad was average but both the pizza and kabobs were very good. We will order again!

John R.

Yelp
Decent pizza with good people running the place. Reasonably priced for the market. Counter service only and a few retail items. There are a few tables where you can eat. It's more of a lunch place or takeout joint. Not fancy, not a place for a date.

Yelp
Let me start by saying, I really wanted to love this place. I've heard great things, and the reviews speak for themselves. I'm hoping this was an off day, and not a reflection of the overall quality. I ordered two pizzas a few weeks ago. One pepperoni and green olive, the other the house special. Portion sizes are generous, so that's a plus. The gyro pizza is a unique offering. And spoiler alert - the sauce you get with each pizza is the show stopper. I felt like both pizzas were just ok. They tasted like pizza. It's hard to go wrong there. But nothing really jumped out at me. The crust was particularly bland, so I'm glad they provided a little cup of the green sauce to help spice it up (literally). The service seemed nice enough. These were for carry-out, so it's hard to go wrong there. Would I order here again? Maybe. Is it my first choice? unfortunately, no.

Yelp
If you want to try a unique take on pizza in the cities, try football pizza. Formerly crescent moon bakery. Their signature house special in the shape of a football is good for a family of four. Reasonable prices and good food. You can get the pizza with their special spicy sauce if you like that. Clean restaurant to sit and eat. And the staff is helpful and courteous. They also have other items in their menu besides pizza but I have never tried anything other than the pizza. They also offer their pizza frozen so you can take hone some and make it when the craving hits.

Tiana D.

Yelp
A beyond excellent choice for takeout pizza. My favorite is "The Catch" - with beef pepperoni, mushrooms, and green peppers. The green sauce is SO GOOD. The folks at check out are always kind and my order is ready promptly. There is a small grocery store inside too with frozen pizzas available for purchase.

Elmir M.

Yelp
Not sure how many times we ordered pizza from them for both take out and dine-in and each time our pizza tasted as the best pizza we ever ate in our lives. I like the ability as a customer to mix 2 types of pizza in one order. And the staff is always friendly

Cindy D.

Yelp
Great service and amazing pizza that comes in a shape of football. I highly recommend.

Jon M.

Yelp
First time in MN and Football Pizza, wasn't sure what to expect, but it was good ! Nice thin crust and the sauce was very good ! Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a good thin crust pizza

Russell L.

Yelp
Excellent pizza, friendly service. We tried the Afghan cuisine as well. (Goat!) Thumbs up.

Krista K.

Yelp
We had a great time eating here! The pizza was super tasty and unique compared to other pizzas! The service was also wonderful, super friendly people working and they were very helpful since it was obvious it was our first time visiting. We had such a great experience that it won't be our last! Would definitely recommend trying this place!

Yelp
Was craving some pizza after hitting the driving range at Columbia and decided to finally try Football Pizza after hearing and reading about it a few times. Convenient location on Central Ave. near Lowry in northeast Mpls, Football Pizza offers more than just football shaped pizza - gyros, burgers, etc. Multiple sizes including a personal that's about 10 inches and they have different varieties or you can customize and make your own which I did. While they don't have pork products, the beef pepperoni was good, the sauce was nice and plenty of cheese. The crust was fine but in the middle of this football shaped pizza, it gets a little soft (not soggy though). I also opted for "spicy" which is a green sauce (think middle eastern style and flavor) and it was fine but maybe not worth the extra charge. Prices are very reasonable and if you are in a pinch looking for slightly above average pizza and other options, this is your spot. ** Side note - don't order online, as the prices are slightly different. Either go in and order at the counter or call in your order. I understand the convenience of ordering online and those services have some value but they also need to make money, which is why their prices are higher than if you just picked up the phone and called in. Services is pleasant and the people are nice plus there's plenty of free on street parking nearby.

Mo S.

Yelp
One of my favorites spots with their selection of delicious Middle Eastern pizzas. The signature green sauce is ! The service is always excellent as well!

Yelp
DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS RESTAURANT! PLEASE LISTEN UP! On last night my family and I took a chance to place an order with Football Pizza located at Central Avenue in Minneapolis, 55418. So, I went to their website and ordered a MEDIUM PIZZA PIE with Gyro meat, chicken, and Beef. The food was promised (and I have the Email to prove it) to be delivered HOT. Well, it was nowhere near HOT! The food was COLD, OLD, and VERY VERY DRY! In good faith, I immediately reached back out to Football Pizza and was told that my food didn't come from them and that the Pizza was actually sold to me by SLICE (the delivery company) and not the restaurant (Football Pizza)! I was confused as I went to the football Pizza website to order the Pizza! I was told by football pizza that they could remake the pizza if I came to pick it up free of charge but that would defeat the purpose of having the food delivered as I do not drive! I was even told to bring the old pizza back but I told them if they redelivered it I could hand the old pie to the driver and then he flipped the solution again saying that he would just give me 50% off my next pizza, but the problem with that is that I did not get to eat the 1st pizza! It DID NOT look food safe and was VERY COLD, DRY, and UGLY! In the END they got to keep MY MONEY (THEIVES) while I got NO PIZZA! WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN! A TRULY VERY TRAUMATIC, COLD-HEARTED, NON-CUSTOMER-CENTRIC EXPERIENCE! They REFUSE to be held responsible for the QUALITY and DELIVERY of their FOOD! Pure SHARKS! I've HAD IT WITH THEM!

Spencer J.

Yelp
Football Pizza,Football Pizza,Football Pizza! After what I experienced the name should be more like Touchdown Pizza. We called ahead for pick up so we did not dine in. But if we would have, the atmosphere is more like a typical East coast pizzeria. With a middle Eastern flare and the large tv's give it a sports bar kinda feel, with out the alcohol though! Let get to it we ordered a personal pepperoni and a medium meat lovers. And bruh the pizza it was a hit! The sauce was not to sweet not to salty. It complemented the crisp slightly charred but yet still chewy crust perfectly! And the pepperoni hands down is the best substitute for pork pepperoni I have ever had. The meat lovers was just as good and the gyro meat gave it unique flavor. Although is said it also had chicken I didn't see it on my pie. It could have been a chicken sausage instead of cubed or sliced breast meat. I did add the restaurant's signature green sauce. Which is a must it you like the flavor of veggies on your pie with out the crunch! All in all if your close to central in northeast Mpls or not this place is worth the drive. I will definitely be taking a drive back to try there other menu options next time we want pizza!

Rida S.

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite pizza spot! I always get the meat lovers pizza which includes gyro meat, beef, and chicken in it. It's so good and fresh Everytime . The pizza is cooked to perfection, I have tried their other food before in a buffet and it's so good as well. Can't go wrong with Afghani food, their pizza is famous in the twin cities and I can't not wait to get it again! Also parking is usually not to difficult to find here and it's free street parking!

John P.

Yelp
Have been eating here since they opened. Great food and family. Someone named Hung U is posting photos of food definitely not from Football Pizza. One shows sandwich with pork. Disrespectful to owners!

Nate M.

Yelp
I saw numerous great reviews and heard all good things about Football Pizza, so finally decided to give it a try. My opinion seems to be different than most though as this was nothing special to me. It's not bad by any means, but there just isn't anything that makes this a pizza to be sought after. We tried the Mediterranean and House Special, which we didn't realize would be the exact same pizza other than some pieces of Feta Cheese sprinkled throughout the Mediterranean. I would say this is comparable to any chain pizza you can order for half the price.

Rory V.

Yelp
I love this place more than anywhere on central Avenue, if you're looking for a good gyro or the best pizza you've had in your life, look no further.

Ida K.

Yelp
One word: "eh". Came during dinner time at 6 pm, the whole restaurant was completely empty. I waited 15 minutes for a below average pizza. The crust was not homemade as it tasted like freezer style pizza. If your craving pizza definitely skip this place out and try out a different place or go with a freezer style pizza. It'll be cheaper and it'll taste roughly the same or possibly even better. I ordered the Hawaiian pizza (chicken, pineapple, and onion). The toppings were so disproportionate. Majority of the pizza had pineapple and onion. Where was the chicken?

Sarah P.

Yelp
Persian pizza! I drove by this place many times thinking it was a sports bar but heard from a friend that it had really good pizza so I went to check it out. The pizza is amazing they also have the best spicy sauce and other sauces to purchase! It's not over priced or protentious. This is one of the best slices I have ever had. Go try rit asap! They also make acceptional flat bread so soft n fluffy. They have great customer service and are friendly as well.

Doctor Q.

Yelp
Meat lover is the best, especially with extra meat! Pizza size is relatively small when compared to regular pizza shops. Sandwiches were okay.

Nicole C.

Yelp
This was a fun pizza adventure which is very unique in the twin cities! They have so many options with their food outside of pizza including traditional Mediterranean dishes like kabob and gyro which almost made me change my decision to only go for pizza - all the food looks very appetizing. Something they don't mention is the big giant smoothie bar they have with different flavors - I decided to do the guava smoothie. There's no alcohol here so unfortunately you lose out on the dream of pizza and brew but it's still a very good experience and wonderful for kids. It was eerily empty when I arrived at 6:30pm but started picking up later into the night. I also noticed that they have a very large amount of take out options compared to dining in. Overall I had a fun pizza experience here. The pizza is VERY good and I highly recommend getting the green sauce!!! It makes it even more flavorful!

Sohayla S.

Yelp
No matter where I have pizza in the States, I always end up comparing it to Football Pizza because nothing else compares. The spicy meat lovers pizza is always my go-to. The crust and toppings are always cooked perfectly. The best part is that they're also halal!

Noah G.

Yelp
Cool location on Central. Surprisingly good dough and green sauce. I split a 10-inch personal pizza with someone - three pieces each is sufficient for trying the food, otherwise you may want to scale up.

Chandelle H.

Yelp
I want to thank the kind gentlemen that was at the counter for his act of kindness. Also Football pizza allow me to have beef pepperoni seeing I am not a pork eater. I have been eating there for years and it always taste the same.

Molly M.

Yelp
Love a pizza place with a bicycle rack out front! Not that I rode here (THIS TIME)! This isn't the fanciest of places (was Crescent Moon Bakery before), but the pizza is worth the visit! We tried many of the "football" type pizzas....and I have to admit they were all great! Eggplant & olive isn't something I would normally order on a pizza, but this pizza worked for me! Eggplant was tasty (NOT mushy), olives were perfectly married to this pizza! Best of all were the "secret sauces" that you add at the table: green, white & red. I'm not going to describe them because you need to stop in and TRY em on a pizza! I'm looking forward to a bicycle ride here with a stop at Fair State Coop Brewery after!

Alyssa F.

Yelp
I just loved this local minority owned pizza place! I learned this place is owned by a local Afghan family. My friend recommended it last night and I ordered it for lunch today. I chose to pick up at noon. I walked in at exactly noon and it was all ready! The employee was friendly and prompt. The store had called me about 15 mns prior. I had selected green olives as a topping when I ordered online. They were apologetic for being out of green olives (totally understandable, it happens!) and offered kalamata olives instead. That was so kind of them to ask! The crust was perfectly cooked, not too much cheese on top, just how I like it. The chutney was great to dip and dunk although you could spread it on too. When going to a locally owned spot, this is where you should come!

Nawang M.

Yelp
Can't get enough of their "meat lovers" football pizza with the green sauce. More or less what everyone has mentioned, the pizza is consistently good at every visit with the right amount of crisp on the crust. You'll never eat at Papa Johns after this because Crescent Moon has better ingredients and that subsequently results in better pizzas. Three hungry guys ate this and we were stuffed.

Mitchell P.

Yelp
Friendly staff and excellent pizza! Able to meet my dietary needs well, and gave us some waters on the house. Come here if you want to support a quart and fantastic restaurant!

Lindsay M.

Yelp
The food is good but not consistent we have been going there for years. Every time the food is so different.the service is beyond bad but on the good days the food is good!

Adira R.

Yelp
Amazing customer service! When I came here the Store was supposed to close, but one of the store owners saw my graduation gown and took our orders! It was really amazing and high quality pizzas. Another thing I liked was the severing sizes!

Forence E.

Yelp
This place was fantastic before and after the business change. I was a regular when it was the previous business, and that was fabulous. People were great, and food was even better. I'm happy the business remains in good hands, even with the business change. The food is much different, but that's okay. It's got more pizza choices than the old place. I'm glad the business kept the quality of the previous one. I still love it. If they want to add another star to their rating, they ought to watch how greasy the pizza is. It tastes great, but it would be nice to not have to remove it with a napkin almost every time.

Joe T.

Yelp
My favorite Pizza in the Twin Cities. Went with the house special. My wife and I ate a medium and we were stuffed. I would give 5 stars if it didn't take 22 phone calls for them to pick up. The como location picks up the phone every time this one is terrible at answering the phone so you are forced to go in and order. The pizza is worth it though.

Aaron S.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of their chicken tikka plate. I find myself wanting it nearly every day, but settle for getting it about once every week or so. I normally get a bottle of coke and either a brownie or a slice of carrot cake. They always let me get extra rice. One of my favorite meals in the cities.

Cynthia E.

Yelp
I had this place booked marked for 4 years!! I went yesterday and i got upset that it took me 4 years to go to pizza heaven! I understand that they have 2 joints i went to this one in NE and i am so glad i went to this location! The location is in a busy area, so many restaurants on every block. I was worried that we would not find parking. The place does not have their own parking but if you go behind the building you will see houses and a lot of free places to park down the street. Wells Fargo is right next door and their parking is so big its unnecessary! I did not see a sign that you can't park there but don't do it, its tempting but don't do it just incase. We started walking to the building and a block away you can smell the exotic flavors just floating away and wrapping its magic around our oxygen source , it made me walk faster then my normal speed I have never been here of course and my mission was of course to get their famous pizza! You can make your own pizza or they have their own specialties. I ordered the spinach lovers pizza. i have no idea why i love spinach on pizza! The owner i believe he is because he was so attentive, funny and i think he is psychic or something because he knows what we want to order! I was like ummmm get out of my brain lol When my pizza came and i just saw the 14" football right in front of me! I was in aww , first the smell of the pizza..the exotic flavors just entering my nostrils without permission...I picked up my first slice and no joke when my teeth came in contact with the dough i was like what in the world!!! I have never ever put a whole slice of pizza in my mouth! Not exaggerating the pizza has to have some sort of drug because you cant stop eating it made me look like a fiend ! Like i needed it i could not stop ! You have 3 bottle sauces you can choose from! The red sauce is of course one of their hottest the green one mild and then i swear i did not ask but i am pretty positive that the last sauce is cucumber sauce! The bottle was full when i grabbed it , by the time i was done the frikin bottle was pretty much.... i was drowning in the sauce , i did not want to get lost in the sauce so i had to hide it but the sauce was just there looking at me like "Cynthia drown in the sauce" so i did! Any who the sauce is amazing ! I put this on food because food is life!! This is the only place THE ONLY place where i can not find a flaw the bathrooms super super clean! The service outstanding they make you feel like part of their family the food is extremely amazing an explosion of flavors . I will definitely come back asap

Shirley V.

Yelp
Visited Football Pizza, what an amazing spot. The ambiance is also amazing. The menu is really fantastic, a lot of fantastic choices, I had to go with Chicken Tikka Plate, and it was amazing. Service was terrific and every one working here was incredibly nice and helpful. Loved Football Pizza.

Hnou V.

Yelp
Pros: Delicious pizza. Excellent crispy crust. Melty cheese. Cons: Smoothies are watery. Don't get a smoothie.

Razaa A.

Yelp
The service here was excellent. My table had the house special (amazing), meat lovers (could have used more of the toppings), mango smoothie (yummm), and the chai (too good!). The owner was present and made our experience unique. I would definitely recommend stopping by this spot.

William B.

Yelp
Best pizza in twin cities period. Get the spicy pizza sauce, and all three condiments sauces. Wish they still had the old red booths. Otherwise the inside decor is still excellent.

John S.

Yelp
Not what expected for a pizza lunch buffet. Pizza was nearly burnt as well as the kabobs. The salad was just shredded lettuce with a few tomatoes. It is NOT a pizza lunch buffet. Lame!

Daniel D.

Yelp
Fire what can I say. I had the lamb and rice. Get the homemade bread and sauces. Don't be boring get yourself some good food. You can even get a pizza shaped like a football.

Louisa M.

Yelp
Though I have never been in person, Crescent Moon is for sure my preferred delivery pizza in Northeast! I am a simple cheese pizza person, so I can't elaborate on their combos, but I am the perfect person to speak to the base- crust, sauce and cheese. Their crust is that perfect mix of crispy on the bottom and yet chewy, and they use the most delicious cheese blend- a little salty and melts into the perfect gooey bite. If you love pizza and haven't found the perfect bite for you in NE, this is definitely worth trying!

Kara D.

Yelp
The only thing I've ever ordered here is the football pizza. I CRAVE it. It's an urge that I cannot deny. On St. Patty's day I even ditched my corned beef lunch plans to get some football pizza instead! Me forgoing corned beef is the equivalent of a person pushing their hand into a food processor. But the House Special Football pizza with "green sauce" is worth the sacrifice and stub-hand. I'm pretty picky with my pizza. I hate pub pizza, it doesn't even make sense to me and it's no wonder it was made for drunks. But Crescent Moon's is unique and memorable. Their House Special is the perfect combo of spicy Afghani beef with cooked but crisp veggies, and the spicy cilantro sauce is what brings this to the next level. The crust is thin but holds up well. I'm assuming they also add a brick of cocaine to make it so addicting. They offer lunch specials on weekdays - $2 off a 12" football pizza or $5 for a single-topping 12" round pizza.
