New York’s For Five Coffee Roasters Plans Boston Expansion | Eater Boston
"A Queens-based coffee chain is planning a café in the 200 State Street building adjacent to Faneuil Hall Marketplace (convenient for tourists visiting the New England Aquarium), expected to open by the end of 2019, possibly in the fall. The shop will offer coffee alongside pastries, salads and sandwiches. Founded in 2010 by childhood friends Stefanos Vouvoudakis and Tom Tsiplakos, the company started as a roaster selling beans to restaurants and wholesale accounts before opening its first Manhattan café in 2016 and later expanding to Los Angeles and Chicago. The owners have hinted that additional Boston locations could follow beyond the planned State Street site." - Terrence Doyle
Really nice hidden gem and not at all like a typical coffee shop provided in an office building. The coffees and teas here are very good quality. I got a matcha latte and literally watched them sift the matcha in front of me. Very beautiful earthy taste, just as you’d want your matcha latte to be. Didn’t get a chance to try the cookies, but they looked amazing and would definitely come back for an afternoon snack.

The café is quiet and cozy, they don’t have a wide variety of food, but if you’re looking for something light to satisfy your hunger, I recommend the croissants, I loved them! Also, the cookies are to die for, especially the caramel with cinnamon and apple one. Regarding the drinks, I liked the house special called “the Louie”. To finish, the baristas are lovely.
Note: They have several non-dairy milk options. They don’t have gluten-free food.

There was a sign outside for a lavender macadamia matcha latte, so we went inside on a whim. We got the iced lavender macadamia matcha latte and the iced honey oatmilk latte. Both were excellent. The matcha was whisked in front of us with the proper bowl and whisk, and it wasn't bitter at all. The oatmilk latte was super creamy, and the espresso also wasn't bitter or overly strong. I was pleasantly surprised by this little place and would definitely go back again. Very friendly barista, and the drinks were made very fast.

Well made espresso drinks and made in house giant cookies. Worth the stop, even if you don't work in the building!
Update: they fired two really great baristas and keep replacing them with batches of people who don't really know what they're doing. You can't charge $5 for a cappuchino with no foam.
And they've upped their prices and added two different surcharges so a coffee listed at $4.50 comes out to $5.55.

The barista was super kind and patient! He explained what some of their named drinks were to me - I ended up getting the Gotham Mocha (basically a dark chocolate mocha) with macadamia milk and the strawberry cookie. Both were very tasty! My only complaint is the pricing. $0.95 for plant based milk is a little steep, and the price for the large isn't on their price menu by the register, only small and medium. $17 for a cookie and coffee was a little steep for me. If they could also update or take down the prices on the letter board it would make it a bit less confusing how much everything costs.

I asked if the hot black coffee was fresh-brewed and was told it was. For $10+ I received 2 small coffees that were brewed hours before. If I could, I would give this place 0 stars.

Grabbed a Swiss water decaf latte. Delicious but pricey at just around $8

This shop was just across the street from our hotel, and since it was convenient we opted to get our morning coffee there, and we were lured a bit by the cookies too if I am being honest.
Anyway, we were greeted by Manny and Orleani, I probably butchered the spelling, and they were great. We ended up sitting at the bar and chatting in between them taking orders and they were really fun to talk to.
We are definitely going to get our coffee here again while we are in town!

Yelp
Coffee shop but not an actual rotation where they roast the coffee. Overall, a good copies to get your drinks, but not much different than going to Starbucks.

Yelp
These cookies are so deceiving. You think you're getting a warm soft cookie, it's really overbaked, unevenly warmed & when you bite into it the cookie turns to dust. I'm not sure how the coffee is but if it's anything like the cookies or the man who served them to us, it'll be terrible.

Yelp
Great matcha latte. The store used legit high-quality Matcha powder, and the barista made it with authentic Japanese tools. it was such an enjoyment to watch her, do it and enjoy the sips on a busy morning. Great Matcha powder to water and to milk ratio.
Great job for five !

Yelp
$24 for a couple of mediocre coffees that taste like a bad day at Dunkin. I should've known since the covered up all of the prices on the menu, no transparency at all. I have no idea what they're thinking, there's plenty of better options around.

Yelp
Nice vibe and setup and promising looking menu. The service was ok, nothing spectacular but a bit off tbh. My iced dirty matcha was $9... definitely put me off and it wasn't that great- a little light on the matcha and very light on the ice. There's a veryyy small sign by the register that says that they've increased their prices and the menu board doesn't reflect the current costs of their items. Didn't see this until it was time to pay since it's right beside the register albeit small. Might not come back but worth a shot!

Yelp
I stopped in here for about 2 hours to grab a coffee and do a little remote work. I ordered a cold brew and it was great and ready super fast. The barista was very polite. I then stayed for about 2 hours to do some work on my laptop. There are a surplus of outlets which is great. The wifi was also top tier - no issues at all. Would recommend and would come back!

Yelp
I had a very good Americano here. Friendly staff - conveniently located in an office building near the Kennedy trail.

Yelp
Stopped for a coffee and croissant. Barista polite and attentive, croissant just like you would want it to be (we ordered almond croissant) The pastry was perfect and filling just right with no excessive sugar or extraneous flavors. Latte and Americano both hit the spot. Will strongly recommend! Seating comfortable and spacious!!!
Location perfect and close to Greenway Artisan Market!!!

Yelp
I picked up some tea and a danish before work and they were both delicious! I don't know if it's particularly new or what, but I'm so glad this place opened up by Faneuil Hall.
It's a little hard to find by chance. I was told about it by a co-worker who brought us some of the different cookies they offer. There are some really neat flavors. But the regular breakfast pastries are also really good! The person on staff this morning (she was really nice!) sort of implied that she eats the food there as well, so it must be good.
Also! It's definitely cheaper than Starbucks.

Yelp
This is the most beautiful location for a coffee shop. My friend tried a croissant and I got the drip coffee. The coffee was delicious and it paired excellently with the flaky pastry! The barista was alone, but did an excellent job at staying on top of orders and producing good coffees. I'll definitely come again if I'm in the area!

Yelp
Located on the lobby floor, For Five offers a quiet atmosphere to just drink coffee, indulge, and be calm for a little while. The cortado I had with oat milk was what I normally expect from this espresso drink, with stronger taste of coffee than a cappuccino but still denser milk foam than a latte.
