If you are looking for a healthy, casual spot (while also supporting local in a big way), here it is! I think you could call this your go-to, affordable and healthy/high protein spot. One of those places you feel good about eating at:) This started in Madison and has been expanding. We came in on a Sunday afternoon … lots of seating available, steady stream of people coming in, both picking up to go and ordering in. There are a few options - table seating, counter and high top seating or a cute little outdoor garden area. You order at the counter and they make it in front of you. Everything from scratch and reasonable prices. The best part is, it’s as delicious as it is healthy. Really fresh, creative options. They are willing to customize and there are a lot of gluten free and vegan options. The black rice base is wonderful. I ordered the chicken bacon Caesar wrap and could only eat half - it was so packed full! I saved the other half for my next day lunch. My husband got the Fiesta Bowl and added hot honey chicken - I should have taken an after picture, because he left absolutely nothing!! Street parking is easy, the place is super open, filled with light and easy seating. This would be a great place for even meeting friends or for a casual meeting space - I noticed they also offer catering so included that in photos. This is definitely for your “healthy, must come often” list!

First time at a Forage Kitchen. Stopped in to get a salad. Love the idea of having a fresh salad bar where I can custom make the perfect salad combination. This location is on a nice corner. The interior has plenty of natural light from the large windows. There are cafe tables outside, under umbrellas. I arrived a little bit before noon, and was able to order right away. The staff person efficient, polite, but not especially friendly. I ordered the Local Roots salad, which is exactly that, root vegetables. I also ordered a can Tepache beverage. Didn't take very long to have it made up. It was a good portion. They offered a piece of sourdough bread too. Took it outside and enjoyed it under an umbrella on the outside patio. The salad was good, but not great. Couple of things that would have made it better (IMHO). The beets were a bit over cooked, and the roasted brussel sprouts were a bit undercooked. The addition of roasted fennel is excellent. The bread was a bit tasteless. A baguette would be a much better option. I'd come back and give it another try.

We can't say enough great things about Forage Kitchen! Scott was very kind and made some awesome recommendations, and everything was delicious. I ordered the Cultured Cobb and added chickpeas and pickled onions, my husband ordered the Power Bowl but did half lettuce half rice plus chicken, and then we shared a bowl of the chili. The food portions were generous and we loved everything we tried! Food was fresh, place was very clean and tidy, service was fantastic and prices were fair! It was hard to pick a favorite, but we LOVED the chili. We will definitely be coming back as regular customers.

Google
Basically Sweetgreen in the form of a small business within the Midwest. Food: a lot of healthy and affordable options. The Thai bowl was a bit sweet for my tastes but the power bowl was just right. Added grilled chicken for $2.50. Generous serving of avocado. The black rice is a nice touch here also. Service: quick and helpful. Atmosphere: minimalistic and clean. It’s nice seeing a business stick to basics and not waste a bunch of money on crazy marketing gimmicks.

Google
Excellent healthy food and options to have it your way. Lots of good pairing bowls and salads. Green juice is available as well. Parking is street parking. Line moves fast and good indoors seating very clean throughout.

I come to Milwaukee one week every month and eat here several times on each visit. Everything is fresh, healthy and delicious. I dont have to wonder if I am going to like it. And I know it is my best option when eating while on the road.

Google
Love having Forage near by. I usually get the Cobb salad but tonight I wanted something warm and got the Thanksgiving bowl. It was delicious. My daughter enjoyed her Santa Fabel, and swapped arugula for the spinach.

Google
FORAGE KITCHEN over Sweetgreen all day, everyday!! So much higher quality ingredients, I would say, the salads are bigger, and it’s fresher, and they always seem to get the order correct. BUT, it’s VERY expensive. This to me is a TREAT! I wish I could afford to eat her weekly but $24 for a salad tends to hurt the bank. BUT, it’s so worth it. Always fresh, THE BEST Salad dressings!! Tons to add on, great selection of options, and I can’t say it enough- fresh!!

Yelp
I feel like for the longest time I hated salads, but that's only because I never put in good fresh ingredients. This place is a bit like Chipotle except the bowls are already prefixed. You can create your own bowl though! The person making my bowl was super cheerful, and the store is so bright and clean! This place was actually SO good it blew me away!! I had the southwest ranch bowl, which includes hot honey chicken, romaine, pickled onions, southwest salsa (tomatoes, corn, black beans, pico, cilantro), cheddar, and crumpled tortillas with a spicy ranch dressing. I barely out any dressing, and the fresh ingredients really spoke for themselves. I also added a scoop of avocado for $2, and substituted for half romaine half quinoa. The hot honey chicken was not your expected dry chicken, but it was soooo juicy and moist and seriously so good. Much better than sweetgreen or any other salad chain I've ever been to, and actually filling too! Everything was truly very fresh :)

Yelp
Date of visit: August 1, 2025 Having given this place a whirl with a Yelp Elite event earlier in the summer, I was happy to return so quickly given that it's a decent walk from home and they have a nice little patio area. I went with the same thing I did last time, the Chicken Caesar Wrap (if it ain't broke...) and it was good though you do have to watch how you hold it, of it will start to fall apart when you set it down to take a breather! Staff was friendly but it is still hard to hear them over the giant sneeze guards. Thinking maybe if there was a step up on the Forage side of the counter, their voices would carry over the guard instead of being muffled by it. The water available is a nice touch though it's not very cold and there's no ice (what is this, Europe?), and it's really the only option for me here as far as beverages go as kombucha is what they would serve in my own personal version of hell. Outside of the tepid water, my only issue here was that in the 90 minutes we were sitting out on the patio, no one ever came out to tidy up. We had to clean off our table before sitting down and the dish tray was close to overflowing.

Yelp
I tried Forage thanks to a Yelp week event and I'm hooked! I ordered for dinner tonight and to have for lunch tomorrow! It's such a fresh and healthy meal but that same craving one might have for say burger and fries because the flavor is just so delicious!! I also ordered the Tepache again in Pineapple and this time they had Watermelon Lime available- such a yummy drink! The portions are wonderful and so filling!! I'm going to try the fiesta bowl tomorrow and ate the "make your own" tonight and kind of created my own version of the Club Med bowl with cauliflower and sweet potato added on! Unfortunately I ordered just before close so they were out of the "while supplies last" sourdough but noted to early sooner in the evening Highly recommend!

Yelp
Yummmaay! Love the foodie options that Forage Kitchen provides. It's tough to find spots like this around town, so I'm delighted this location is fairly close to me. I've dined in once before, but this time I ordered for delivery which was seamless. Through their website, the ordering system is powered by Uber Eats. I picked my menu items, chose a drop off time, and it was delivered shortly there after. I chose the Thai Bowl which was sizeable! Packed with black rice, broccoli, roasted sweet potato, carrots, and cilantro. I added chicken too. Plus a very tasty curry and thai basil pesto for the included sauce. It was very flavorful and I'd certainly order again!

Yelp
It seems this is a very popular place, as it was very busy when we ate there last Saturday noon. But I was disappointed. Probably my fault for expecting my quinoa, carrots, etc. to be warm. It was not. The curry was warm and was good, but truly I expected better for the whole meal. It also was a very noisy place. Lots of kitchen noises made it hard to converse. The soup was delicious though. If I came back again (doubtful) I would only have soup.

Yelp
So glad we found this neighborhood gem! It's so nice to find a restaurant serving salad/grain bowl options outside of the usual lunch hours and has a pickup option! We visited around 7:30p on Saturday over the summer and found it to be surprisingly quiet; we were the only ones dining in. Of course it is festival season and a weekend so I'm sure that kept most people out and about. Street parking is available in front of and down the side of the building, also where their pickup spot is located, but most people doing pickup parked along the front of the building. They did quite a bit of pickup orders in our time dining in. They are kept near the door without much contact from employees. They have a nice outdoor patio available as well, although it was coned off on both sides so we opted to eat inside just in case. It's a walk-up ordering bar with a menu on the wall. There is a large glass case to talk thru/over and with the openness and poor acoustics of the restaurant it made it very difficult to hear the employees over all the equipment sounds. We ordered the Club Med Bowl and the Japanese BBQ Plate with a kombucha. We tried to order a refresher from their menu but the employee insisted upon us grabbing a canned beverage from the case in front of the register. I tried asking again for the refresher on the menu, but was told there was canned water below and still water at a separate station. I'm not sure if these were new employee growing pains or just a misunderstanding. But I was really hoping for that refresher since I don't drink kombucha or tepache. The Japanese meatballs had great texture and were quite flavorful. The bed of black rice they were on was really the star. I would go back just to order a bowl of this! My Club Med bowl was a Mediterranean style with a perfectly balance tabbouleh base. Everything tasted very fresh and was all properly seasoned. The tzatziki dressing was very light and the perfect accent to the dish. The dollop of hummus and pita chips really completed it. Having the option to mix in or put your dressing on the side was a nice touch and offering. We tidied up upon finishing and were greeted by an employee who happily took away our bowls and non-compostables (they seem very eco-forward!) Overall, I think we will definitely return, and we're certainly interested in doing a pickup next time!

Yelp
Ordered delivery from Forage Kitchen for the first time yesterday. I was stoked to know that I can get something: 1. healthy 2. for dinner (not just a lunch spot) 3. for delivery 4. from a place nearby 5. and on a Sunday, no less! Sundays are one of the 7 days I prefer not to cook! I ordered the Cashew Bowl and I loved it. My husband got the Avocado Crunch and the Forage Classic, so I got to try a lot of things. His Avocado Crunch came with pickled red onions, which he doesn't like, but I LOVE, so I just put those on my Cashew Bowl. Everything is really customizable, so I'll add pickled red onions next time! Everything was super flavorful, perfect portions, (we both had leftovers for lunch) and a really good variety. Not sure on service or ambiance, because we ordered through Grub Hub, but everything came nicely packaged (with compostable bowls, etc.) and right on time. This will definitely be in the rotation for healthy dinners.

Yelp
Forage Kitchen is one of my go-to's for a quick and healthy lunch! I love their menu options and the ingredients are always fresh and flavorful. The staff is friendly and the line moves pretty quickly, even when they're packed! I like the indoor and outdoor seating and the bathrooms are AWESOME! I don't usually comment about bathrooms in my reviews, but my mother is disabled and relies on a walker, and the bathrooms are huge and single-stalls. I also like that the bathrooms have a table to rest my stuff on. Very convenient! And always clean.

Yelp
When it comes to grabbing something quick (other than a grocery store), healthy options are hard to find in Milwaukee. This place is perfect for me! I love their selections - bowls, salads, wraps, etc. They are conveniently located in my neighborhood. I love the space - it's bright and open; their outdoor seating is nice. The staff is friendly and lines moves fairly quickly. If you're short like, be ready to speak up over the glass separation. Lol ;) Lunch time is very busy, even on week days. That's a good sign that more and more people are eating healthy! They are my Go To when the boyfriend asks, "What do you want to eat?" We are really trying to avoid the fast food temption, so thanks to Forage Kitchen we can do that.

Yelp
Today in my Club Med Bowl I found tiny pieces of plastic. I always chew my food thoroughly and yet I wonder how many I've swallowed already... Sadly this isn't just a forage issue it's all fast food unfortunately. We do this for convenience but whose convenience is this really for. I've been eating at forage for a while I am even a rewards member, part of that paid for this meal. Sadly that must all come to an end. Posting for visibility and awareness

Yelp
I was excited to hear about this place--a place with healthy and fresh food and was excited to give it a try. We ordered a few bowls to go a few weeks ago. I ordered the Thai Bowl with chicken. It comes with sweet potatoes, cabbage slaw, lentils, guacamole, black rice. It was average, and a little on the salty side. The curry was on the bottom and there wasn't enough of it (you can see it below the slice of bread) and not many carrots (see the photo). I was happy with the quantity of the chicken but it was a little on the dry side. I can't speak to the service or ambiance as we took our order to go. I was a little disappointed with the bowl but I'd be willing to give it another try or have another kind of bowl.

Yelp
What a great addition to the Northshore!! Tucked right by Bayshore mall, it's a convenient and healthy spot to grab your lunch or dinner after that Target pickup order . I've passed this place a few times and noted to look it up and finally got takeout for dinner. Initially I thought it was a lunch spot, but they are open until 8pm. It has sweetgreen vibes - healthy & packed salads and bowls, along with some wraps and kid options too. The pricing is really fair for the quality of food you are getting and the flavors were great! We tried the med bowl with roasted chicken, it was a well-rounded bowl (might I suggest to add some olives?). Parking can be tricky over there for a quick pick up but they do have a reserved spot in front just for that and I was able to snag it, appreciate the thoughtful service. Ambience is nothing too exciting, but it is clean and airy, again, very similar to a sweetgreen. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place for lunch! It was really delicious! They have bowls they have created on the menu or you can create your own! Lots of ingredients to choose from! Fresh! Crisp! I can imagine the line gets long and hard for them to keep up so patience will do everyone good! but great lunch for nice price! Well done!

Yelp
I've tried the power bowl and I've built my own bowl. I was equally impressed every time I've ordered. The service was friendly and speedy. The restaurant is clean. The food is sooo delicious! Going again today!

Yelp
Salad is OK. But the chicken is a problem. I tried the Cobb salad twice. The first time I got carryout, they forgot the chicken (a problem). The second time I ordered the Cobb, they included the chicken, but it looked like a scoop of cat food. And the texture/flavor was not good. Will not return.

Yelp
Wow, the bowls and wraps were amazing! Ordered take out on a recommendation from friends and were super happy with how flavorful and fresh everything was!

Peace A.

Yelp
Very glad they are here...as a health food destination it's not expected that the roasted marinated tofu would be prepared with orange juice, which is basically sugar and makes it taste quite sweet. This doesn't really work with all of their dishes either. It would be best to have a non-sweetened tofu option. Also to offer whole-grain tortillas for the wraps. The restaurant is kept too cold in temperature. However otherwise the food is very good. Again as a health food destination it would be good to have all nutritional info listed on their website and app, and to have calories listed on their menus plus on their in-store menu board...including dressings. Yelp
The food is so fresh and delicious. Currently obsessed with the chicken pozole. Love this place!

Howard S.

Yelp
Will definitely be going more often, had the Cobb salad and thanksgiving dinner. Portions were just right and if you're watching how you eat you won't leave this place feeling guilty. The best part? Your stomach AND wallet will be satisfied as the prices especially in this economy are quite reasonable.

Barbara S.

Yelp
Very fresh, clean food! My entire being was nourished! Pleasant staff added to the experience

Ross S.

Yelp
Great flavorful food, quick service... Glad we tried this place and we will be back! Gluten free and vegan options abound.

Yelp
This is the place this neighborhood has needed for years! Healthy and quick bowls with great vegan options like tempeh and lentils. Great location, delicious food, and friendly staff. I hope this place sticks around long term (and I hope they add outdoor seating)!
