"Foreland Beer Taproom operates a tasting room out of a SE Portland craftsman, called 'the Study'. The taproom retains much of its homey charm with a working fireplace, built-ins stocked with books and merch, wooden booths, and kitchen tables for indoor seating. The backyard is filled with picnic tables for outdoor drinking. Foreland pours 10 of its beers, including two cask ales, with a selection well-suited to the season, ranging from a smoked porter to an English dark mild known as the Wooden Castle." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

"Foreland, a brewery known for its impressive slate of beers leaning heavily on Pacific Northwestern hop varieties, is opening a taproom in a Southeast Portland craftsman building, previously home to Rocking Frog Cafe. This location will feature Foreland’s wine-beer hybrids, ales, and lagers. At least one food cart will provide food at this Foreland location. The taproom is expected to open before the end of the year." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Google
First time visiting this spot and was instantly impressed. After having a bunch of Foreland's beer in cans over the last few months, it was time for some draft pours and this was just the right spot for that! Formerly Rockin'Frogs coffee shop, this place makes SOO much more sense as a beer study! The inside and outside vibes have their own feel but I was most impressed by the back patio, the bamboo gives it a really nice tucked away feel and the patio layout was nice. With the tabletop fireplaces, I could definitely see myself spending a Friday night here and having a few 😎🍻!

Super cute house with plenty of seating inside, or outside on the front porch and backyard. There’s a tent and a few picnic tables with table top heaters, as well as a gas fire pit with surrounding seating. The beer is excellent. And a wonderful bartender with fantastic taste in music.

I came for the beer and found a small and apparently VERY comfortable indoor space that I couldn’t enjoy on a Saturday afternoon because the seats were taken. People were leisurely hanging out, reading, playing card games or writing their Christmas cards; very calm, cool and collected indoors. There is ample seating outdoors in both the front and back that would be more enjoyable when the weather is more agreeable. No food but really good beer. Outside food is welcome. Doesn’t appear to have any seating on the second level (if there is one).

Solid beers on tap, great staff, and even better atmosphere to make yourself feel "at home"

Google
Great beer in a fun old craftsmen style house. The vibe inside is totally unique and original to the house. The back patio has great picnic table seating surrounded by bamboo. Come for the beer, stay for the ambiance. Or, should I say, come for the ambiance, stay for the beer? I don’t know, both are fitting.

Unique cozy atmosphere, like you walked into your cool aunt’s living room. Oh and the beer is really good too!

Really cool renovated old house into a very chill taproom. Fantastic beers as well!

Best spot in town for a year round beer, hands down.

Yelp
This place is cozy and the staff are super friendly. I stopped in for a few pints while waiting for a friend. I had never been here before. The interior is warm and has a study vibe to it. The beer list had different types of beer which I appreciate (a lot of places focus too heavily on ipas for my taste, but they did not). The prices were good, and the outside patios were nice to sit and people watch on. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Great spot in my neighborhood. Dog friendly on their back patio or tables out front. They have lots of beers, which makes sense of course, and then different cans of wines and ciders. Haven't tried food there yet. They have a happy hour on the earlier side "HAPPY HOUR: WEEKDAYS 3-5PM $5 FULL POURS SERVED WITH A COMPLIMENTARY SIDECAR SNACK" Easygoing place in my neighborhood; ideal!

Yelp
We four stopped for a beer; two are regular customers. Was first time for me. BEER: 4.0. We each had a different type, and were all happy with our choices. SERVICE: 4.0. Prompt and professional, with nary a hint of a smile. We appreciated the opportunity provided to taste before choosing. AMBIANCE: 4.0. Converted house, with seating inside and out; some of the outside seating is covered. We started at uncovered picnic table outside, moving inside when it began to sprinkle. Outside was fine; inside was warm and homey.

Yelp
Wonderful tap selection of unique beers. Has a patio and no flair interior that's cozy and comfy. Just the place for a sweet date, intimate conversation or in my case.. just unwind after a long day with a very tasty brew.

Yelp
It's beer............in a house. Lagers and ales. All very good, Enjoy your beverage inside, back patio {shaded}, or on the front porch (not so shaded). I like the porter, personally. It's got quite the kick. Snacks to buy, or bring your own. Very mellow place to drink beer.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. A cozy little beer bar with a great mix of beers. I enjoyed everything I tasted. Seemed to offer up a little different group of styles from the IPA heavy offerings from most breweries. The back patio is small, but cozy when the weather is nice. Not a large place, but I'll for sure be back any time I'm in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Very nice place to visit. Cozy environment to relax and enjoy a beer indoors, with seating out front and in the back with a tent with heat. Those following Oregon beer will recognize the brewer from The Commons and Von Ebert. Beers here go a different direction with IPAs, pale ales, multiple porters, and an American stout when we visited. Only one farmhouse style beer, and no sours. Not sure what is to come, but don't expect a reflection of past portfolios. The beers were fine, nothing to write home about. Fair representation of their respective styles, but staying in middle of the road styles. Nice servers. A few snacks but no substantial food. Bring your own.

Yelp
Excellent atmosphere and some intentional styles of beer on the taplist, several other brewers would ignore like milds, saison. Solid west coast ipa, but very good dark beer offerings and lagers are not to be underestimated

Yelp
The study is a beautiful space, low key, affordable, a perfect hangout spot. Highly recommended!

Yelp
The Study, the Bungalow, feels so homey. But how many homes have top grade beers on tap. I'd been here for poetry readings under its previous incarnation as Rockin Frog (where they didn't make your doughnuts until your ordered them!) and happy this great space (including the back yard) is back with a fine tenant. Taste four of their beers and all of fine quality, my favorite being the Shape Creation IPA--i usually drink IPAs--but also enjoyed their farmhouse ale. And add to that the excellent, friendly service. Great spot!

Senia L.

Yelp
The atmosphere is incredible. Although drinking and studying shouldn't be mixed together, it is a great quiet location to get some work done and meet with friends. Definitely a place worth visiting.

Yelp
Super cute tap room! Great happy hour deal 5$ beer and and a salty snack. Also very friendly staff! Definitely will come back :)

Yelp
ForeLand Beer has opened a cozy spot they've dubbed "The Study" featuring its beer in the former Rocking Frog Cafe space. This Craftsman Bungalow has been fitted with booths and tables and is a small and cozy space for sampling the beers produced by ForeLand including a nice Farmhouse Ale, PNW IPA, and some hand pumped beer engine pumped beers. I liked the mix of lower alcohol beers and standard IPAs. A renovated front patio is open now, and the space seems like it will be experiencing a full build out over time (back patio, parking lot are still fenced) This could be a big place for beer and activities soon. There is no food menu, and this is a tap room, so my friends brought food from the food carts at Belmont and 27th across from the Vern. Just a nice chill space. The staff were friendly. Everything is new from the taps, to the credit card machine, to the booths. Very cool to see the space evolve. A great addition to the Belmont neighborhood with a welcome mix of beers for all.
