In a curious sort of way the Forellenhof in Umkirch, the near outskirts of Freiburg, is one of the fish and seafood restaurants of the region. The Fath family have been quintessential fishmongers of the greater area of Freiburg since decades. They used to supply their produce to many of the best restaurants and have a fish store on their premises. Today daughter Michaela Herr presents her carefully selected, ultra fresh fish and craustecians in her mobile fish wagons at the Munster market in the city of Freiburg and the Wiehre market in the suburbs. Only top quality is offered by Michaela, who proudly holds the title of a fishsommeliere. Father Walter and mother Inge opened a small and simple fish restaurant on their premises in Umkirch some years ago. Son Joerg loves to cook and so they serve a small but delicate menue of raw and prepared fish and shellfish. Joerg has truly mastered the art, the dishes are served at the very moment they are cooked to perfection. In the summer months a wonderfull inviting garden restaurant completes the family friendly experience. Very modest prices and a happy and competent service produces satisfied customers, some visit almost everyday!
