"SLO’s main strip, Higuera Street, is lined with every kind of restaurant. Unfortunately, most of them are pretty mediocre. Foremost Wine Co. is an exception. The big restaurant on the far south side of downtown has very good farm-to-table-ish food (get the scallop tiradito), a long wine list, and a rotating burrata selection you’ll come back for again before you leave town. They also have a daily Happy Hour from 5-6:30pm with tons of food and drink specials." - Brant Cox

Great concept, awful execution. Really short wine list given the name of the place and doesn’t even highlight local wines. We waited 45 min and didn’t even receive the salad and olives we ordered. Food was fine, but inattentive staff and lackluster wines make this place a must-miss!

Big wine bar and restaurant that has a lot of great places to sit, eat, and relax. Owned by Tooth and Nail winery but they pour other wines as well.

Each time I have gone to Foremost my experience has been exceptional. The wine selections are out of this world, especially the Tooth and Nail wines. The lamb tartar is always a go to for me, although Chef Julie Simon's dishes are always delicious. The decor is beautiful, layered, comfortable and classy.

Oh Foremost, what was SLO without you? This is my favorite place to eat in town now. The menu changes every month. The chef is fantastic, the wine is amazing. I love the atmosphere. I also enjoy the fact that it's not in the middle of downtown, gives it a little more space and easier parking on Higuera. If you were to ask me the one place to take a date it's here. It's more expensive but definitely worth it. Get small plates and share! It's the best.

It is definitely hip & pricey. It is a local business. The interior is very nice on off hours. Wine, which they make themselves is quite good. When busy the food is variable. Still to wine & snacks during off peak...& you may be pleased. Wine Bar is a wine bar & is not a full bar with running H2O.

For a fancy place they've seriously been dropping the ball lately. The food is excellent, no question, but you have to doubt if you're going to even get what you ordered. We reserved the wine room on a Friday night for dinner for 16. They forgot that Friday night (during family weekend in a college town) might be busy. We never got our hors d'oeuvres. I had to cancel those after an hour after they served the mains. There was no organization all. The guys that delivered plates were great. Whoever directed them, I don't know. Everyone kept a separate tab at the wine bar because you couldn't get one at your table. (Hey Foremost, you should maybe have a whiskey or other liquor if you are going to have people standing around doing nothing waiting for nonexistent waitstaff.) That is dumb. -TBone

The food is incredibly well put together. The flavors are from a place that seems like it should have a two week wait list. The food and the wine are always changing; this is my 10th time eating and I'm still being blown away!

A good evening with another couple. If you're a first timer take a look at the menu on line. It's a bit eclectic but not too foofoo. We all ended up having the hanger steak in various levels of doneness. To their credit, they got the steaks all pretty much correct, from rare to well. We had the burrata with honey and fruit as well as the roasted marrow bone for appetizers. The burrata was excellent but the marrow seemed quite underdone and only two toast pieces were supplied. Our waiter seemed off his game, forgetting water, order sequence, etc. All in all a 4 out of 5.
