The food was so so good! Perfect and 10/10. They also have a really nice wine list! We tried the tasting menu and we absolutely loved it! The menu also had a lot of little surprises and every dish was perfect! If you are in Dublin and looking for places for lunch/dinner, would totally recommend this place! The service was also really good, and we will definitely come back!

Disappointed with our lunch at Forest Avenue today. At the start of the meal, I told our waiter that I have an intolerance to all raw onion products (cooked is fine). Despite this, one of the opening kitchen surprises arrived with raw chives on top. I was told twice that these were not chives, even though they were. I didn’t eat the dish and wasn’t asked about the issue. Later, the cod course also came out with a generous sprinkling of chives. When I raised the concern again, I was once more told they weren’t chives. The dish was replaced without issue, but given that the intolerance had been flagged from the beginning, I would have expected more attention to detail. The rest of the food was good, with the croissant pudding being a real highlight, but the service around dietary restrictions fell short of expectations

Amazing evening out with the husband. Great location - small but welcoming and feeling of warmth. Atmosphere was great - mix of different ages. Noise level was perfect, you could have a good conversation without hearing anyone around. Food was incredible - different flavors with every dish prepared eloquently. Service and attention to detail was impeccable. Will definitely go back.

Back again, another culinary delight having chosen the tasting menu. Gorgeous Rieling Alsace to pair. I truly love this spot. This is one of the top restaurants in Ireland, my favourite for superb food. Each serving is a delight, thoughtful and delicious. You must choose the tasting menu in order to appreciate the dedication that goes on behind the scenes. The wine pairing adds another level of depth and knowledge to the food offerings. It's also incredible value, considering the quality and execution. I loved it as much as I did the last time I had the pleasure of going.

One of my favourite restaurants in Dublin. Can never fault anything here. I prefer it to all of the Michelin starred restaurants in Dublin, the atmosphere is more casual and overall the experience is more enjoyable. The quality of the food is incredible too.

Amazing meal with lots of surprise little treats: the quiche starter and pre-dessert carrot cake were unforgettable. Every course was delicious and beautifully balanced. Fantastic food.

One of the best restaurants in Dublin, the menu is skillfully designed and hits amazing flavor notes that are both unexpected and delightful! We started off with a set of surprises from the kitchen, all equally delicious, special shout out to the crab bisque- what a revelation! The main menu had some stellar dishes and we finished with one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. Well worth a visit, highly recommend ✨

If you follow my reviews you know that I'm, well, picky. Forest Avenue has me and everyone else not just covered, but happy. This chef knows his craft. Every plate is an unbelievable balance of numbing, sweet, sour, umami flavors, served up on a plate that could be spinning. And the restaurant is nimble. They understand food and taste and temperature and texture which means that when I show up and only want vegetables and no mushrooms, my meal sings as much as my carnivore friends'. If you are in Dublin I do not recommend this restaurant - I exhort you, (may I command you?) to please go. Eat everything they put on your plate. Pay more than they ask. Then thank them. This is a rare experience from a rare talent. Enjoy.

We've only been in Dublin two days, but we lived in Manhattan for 14 years, and our exquisite tasting menu feast tonight at Forest Avenue was AMAZING. One of the very best meals we've ever had. Including NYC's Michelin-starred finest. Wow. It was fab from start to finish. The "bread and snacks" course should really be called "bread and three or four of the most phenomenal amuse-bouches you've ever tasted"course. So truly a nine course meal, but who's counting? Actually, the chefs are clearly counting, because the execution of this meal was impeccably timed. Since we were near the kitchen we could see the calm precision and professionalism up close. Flawless. And the food-- why we're all here-- was perfect: Dynamic, intriguing, sensual, fulfilling. Each course was thoughtfully crafted and delicious. It just doesn't get much better than this. The atmosphere and service were delightfully comfortable and accommodating. Five stars all around. Thank you, friends at Forest Ave!

Superb. Forest Avenue do things with innovative combinations of flavours, immaculate presentation and despite how fancy everything is as regards the food, the place itself isn't pretentious. Both times I've been the food and service have been top-notch. Only point that I would mark the place down on is price as it's pretty steep for dining out in Dublin, but this is definitely a case where you get what you pay for. Extra points for impressive efforts at vegetarian and vegan menus (particularly the vegan menu - a good vegan menu in Dublin is like gold dust!)

Amazing brunch here last weekend! Forest Ave offers a tasting style set menu for €26 and you will not find a better value. To start the waitress brought by fresh coffee and an amuse bouche. The coffee was smooth and the little bouchon was lightly sweet and fluffy. Following that was house made granola with yogurt and rhubarb. The granola had a nice crunch and dish had a good variety of flavours. Next up was the gnocchi with Parmesan and a fried egg. The gnocchi had a lovely texture and the flavours went together perfectly. For the main event they brought out suckling pig with greens. The meat was tender and had a tasty layer of pork belly on the top. Just delicious. To finish out the meal was a white chocolate, basil and apricot dessert. Normally I want basil FAR from my dessert but this was wonderful. Cannot wait to return!

An absolutely stunning meal from start to finish. The interior is much like their food - clean, non-fussy and keenly aware. Their understated attention to detail showed in everything. The house-made brown bread is really nice - a test of self-control right off the bat not to fill up on it before the food comes out. For my starter, I had the spiced butternut squash with goat's cheese and mint. It was beautiful, both to look at and to eat; an explosion of texture and flavours. My main was the brill with buttered lettuce, horseradish and cauliflower. Again, excellent execution and treatment of fresh delicate ingredients. The hint of fresh horseradish was a perfect complement. My only regret is that we went for lunch on a weekday and whilst we had ample time to eat our two courses, this isn't the place you'll want to "just eat". I wanted to savour everything, sip on wine and relish in our complete contentment while lingering over an espresso. My next reservation here will definitely need to take that into consideration.

I went to this restaurant at lunchtime with my friends. First time, I couldn't find there, cuz there doesn't have the sign. So if you go to there, before you should check on the map! Foods is very delicious! I ate a fresh salad and a lamb chops and lamb shoulder roast, chocolate mousse, and some dish. Everything is nice! This stuffs is very kindly and friendly. And the atmosphere is nice! If I have a chance, of course I'd like to go there again!

Yummy yummerson! Is it me or does food just taste better when it's expensed? I was invited to dine here with a group of about 20 on a Thursday night and boy, am I glad. We were given private seating upstairs, a menu with two options as an entree (halibut or duck) and two options for dessert (cheese plate or parsnip cake). The rest just magically appeared in front of my face and into my mouth. Favorites: +The short rib ravioli starter. If I was eating this dish in the comfort of my home, with no one around, I wouldn't hesitate to lick my plate clean. Seriously good. +(Surprisingly so) the black pudding that came alongside the duck entree. I didn't order that dish, but holy cow, black pudding's delicious here! (You know it's pork blood sausage, right?) +Parsnip cake for dessert. Again, didn't order this, but it was a tasty bite of parsnip cake sprinkled with sugar, sitting atop chocolate beside some gorgeous ice cream. As people here say, "Jayzus, it was tasty!" Service was flawless, company was perfection, and the food was wonderful. Could not have asked for a better meal.

Here's my overdue review for the great experience I had at Forest Ave. Make sure to book way in advance - I booked 3 weeks in advance and the earliest table for the Friday we wanted was at 9pm. Plating was beautiful (it was art!) - so beautiful I almost wasn't going to eat it (Ha!). The colorful tomatoes *drool* on one of the starters is funnily the most memorable thing about this meal for me. I think it's because of just how fresh the ingredients were, and how surprising something so simple could be SO flavorful. Not to mention, I usually don't even like raw tomatoes. Everything about this meal was perfect from the perfectly seasoned starters to the perfectly cooked fish. Oh yes, for those dessert lovers - I forgot to take a picture of the dessert. I was too excited. Hip interior, wonderful service, amazing food.

My husband and I booked a table for our 10th anniversary. We went for their set menu with wine pairings. Our waiter was really good, explained each wine and kept our glasses topped up. Each plate of food was amazing especially the port pairing with the chocolate dessert. Will definitely be back again.

Nice food but it's not worth it for dinner. Lunch is ok. ... it's very considered and you can see the toilet from most tables. When there is wine on the menu for 300€, I don't want to look up and see someone bursting for a piss. Brown bread, european butter and no buzz AT ALL from the staff.

Everyone loves this place and I just don't see it. Sorry to be a stick in the mud about it but I'll explain. The vibe is cool and they've put a lot of work into the decor - quite rustic and reclaimed feeling. The staff too are particularly lovely. The open kitchen is a treat to watch the food be prepped! However the menu is very very sparse maybe 2 options per course... The plates themselves are even sparser. It was very high end cuisine but the kind of stuff that you'd need five courses in order to feel full, not just three.. The food itself was delicious though and expert attention to detail in every course. Don't think it's for me though sadly...

So this restaurant has been on the ever growing list for a very long time. My boyfriend surprised me with tasting brunch and boy was it a treat. The venue is very relaxed the staff are extremely nice. The food is so well presented and explained to you which I love. We had the tasting brunch which I recommend and also go without a hangover as it really is a treat. The dinner looks amazing and I can't wait to try it out.

Recently ate dinner here with a group of 7 for the first time (having previously enjoyed their delicious brunch menu over a year ago with some friends). One cannot fault the food presentation or preparation - everything was exquisite and full of flavour, just a delight to have such beautiful food with accompanying wines - a great experience. The only reason for not giving the 5th star which I'd love to give is: we ate upstairs on the mezzanine and it was quite warm (but they did have fans to keep us cool) but the issue was we unfortunately got all the cooking smells gathering up there, such that I have put my jacket into the dry cleaners as a result - but hey it was worth it, with the food just really great!

Came for a delicious lunch. Loved the whole experience and the open kitchen. The chef and staff were wonderful. The bread and butter was delectable. The tomato salad and hake were both great in terms of preparation and presentation. Would definitely want to come back for the tasting menu.

There's a bit of a fuss about this place. You know what; it's all true. Achingly on trend. Plates pretty as a picture. Served in a small, open modern setting. All the fashionable ingredients get name-checked. Expect to see wild mushrooms, cress, hazelnuts, kale, fennel, beetroot, barley; all dancing around your protein centrepiece. But it's the perfect cooking of fish and meat, with even better saucing, that will knock off your socks. I literally licked the plates clean. Literally. Don't judge me. The sauces are *that* good. After you've been, you'll start to angle an excuse for a return trip. I promise.

Definitely my favorite in Dublin so far, the detail in arch of the plates was fantastic. The flavored and how it's all brought together is to die for. I would say it's a must if you're in town. I am still having sweet dreams about the Forest Avenue tasting brunch. It is more than just a fantastic meal, but a remarkable, amusing, and chat-starting event. We had such an amazing afternoon and all the others tables appeared to feel the same. The tasting menu is five courses with a Dublin roast brewed coffee. I won't detail each delicious bite, to save a little surprise, though the menu is meant to change every week and previewed on the website. Let's just say it included starter, granola, fish, chicken, a dessert, and donuts! Perfect, light, airy, not a drop of grease to be found donuts. Quick note, a reservation about at least a week in advance is likely required for brunch or dinner. When you book and finally arrive, there is a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere with the natural feel of wooden tables, cushions, and antlers about. The kitchen is open and from my table, I could peak at the kitchen action to watch the two meticulous chefs perfectly cooking many courses at once. Just a few more brunch details...each course had a variety of ingredients, with fresh sauces and embellishments, explained clearly by the server upon delivery. I am no professional, but each element seemed to have its intended taste, plus a second layer of flavour. I was feeling very Mastercheffy sampling each on its own and all together, agreeing that each bit had a purpose on the plate. I enjoyed every bite. I left completely content and satisfied, feeling like it was a beyond reasonable price for the superior brunch. I cannot wait to return for more tastings!

What an amazing dining experience! I tried the evening tasting menu it was a big treat. We were a big party of 8, the wait staff were friendly and very helpful. The dinning experience itself was beautiful, well thought out and presented in an original manner. I would recommend the tasting menu as you try so many new food combinations!

I went to Forest Avenue for lunch with my friend yesterday. He had said that he was taking me to a pretty expensive but delicious place. It was my last day there and I just wanted to enjoy my last lunch so I said "eh, let's do it yeah!" It ended up being 25 euro for appetizer, main course & dessert which I don't think is outrageously expensive at all. Especially for the quality of the food. I had a crab and smoked salmon appetizer that was so delicious and so full of different flavors that complimented each other beautifully. I had the lamb with shaved asparagus as my main dish and it was perfect. The aubergine that came with it was also delicious. I also want to add that everything was seasoned to perfection. I think it's a great sign when you don't have to add salt to your meal because it's done perfectly. For dessert I had the orange polenta cake. It was very tasty and came with the most amazing yogurt sorbet I've ever tasted. I was so curious to know what everything else tasted like! Obviously I can kind of understand people complaining that the portion sizes are small... but personally I never would have been able to eat more (I got the three courses). In my opinion, I wouldn't complain about the portions because I like that I didn't leave the table feeling horribly full and regretting eating so much. Instead I was left wanting to come back for more. In a good way, not in a "Why didn't you do your job and feed me" way. I don't know about dinner but for lunch there two or three options for each course. I thought this was a great approach. You have to have an open mind and go with your gut feeling. Honestly, when there are thousands of options on a menu, it's so much harder to choose. THIS was wonderful. I highly recommend going to Forest Avenue!

Tremendous food here. Second time in for the 5 course brunch. Crazy good value at 26e including tea or coffee. The menu is set and a surprise but every dish has been great. The staff are very friendly and they made lots of nice gestures without asking. I was recommended to try it out ans ive since recommended it to friends. Portions are small to medium but its plenty with the number of courses. The ingredients always work well and watching the kitchen at work is a bonus. Excellent coffee and water too.

Wonderful dining experience in Dublin. After figuring out the prix fixe options the rest was a culinary delight. You get to pick from 2 choices appetizer and entrée, then desert. But you also will be served appetizer tastings presented by the server that are fantastic. The sauces on all the tastings and entrée were superb. I had lamb that was prepared to perfection. The only draw back for me is they don't serve beer...wine only. A very strong recommendation to give it a try.

Food was very good. Each course served promptly which I don't like but that's the style. Expensive but as is said, delicious and chic. Will return.

I never ever use OMG - but I could make an exception for Forest Avenue. I first went here for dinner (tasting menu) in March - brought my husband for his birthday. Usually I get all excited about new places and my husband is the one with his feet on the ground maintaining a neutral view - well this place blew his mind! We had a lovely pint in the Leeson Lounge around the corner first and arrived at 8.30 to a lovely table for 2. Food was memorable - each course carefully thought out and great fun taste-matching the different flavours. Where we got to choose (meat or fish and between 2 deserts) we chose different ones so got to taste everything. Seriously good cooking going on here and service is very pleasant without being to pally or intrusive. I won't go into lengthy detail about the food but from the start it was gorgeous. Yes, trendy in terms of choice of ingredients but cooked by somebody who really understands taste. The plates seem small but they are so intense and varied that you are just the right amount of full by the end of the well-paced meal. Two courses in and we both agreed that I had got the choice right this time - and this quality continued right through to the gorgeous filter coffee at the end. We had such a great time that we booked in (that night) for their tasting brunch 2 weeks later and when we arrived for brunch - they remembered us and gave us the same table (not sure why we were so memorable!). Again, really accomplished cooking and well-judged service. The Chef came out to us at the end of our brunch to thank us for returning - said that repeat business meant everything to them. We were quite touched to be honest - and makes a change from lots of restaurants where they just want to serve you and get you out to let the next lot in! Check out their website for the latest menu - and relax 'cos you're in the hands of a professional here. Really great food and service in a very relaxed atmosphere. A couple of notes - the brunch is not designed for soakage after a long night - it's far too sophisticated for that. I agree with previous reviewers that it's best to book a couple of weeks in advance. They do also check for food intolerance when booking. It's a small enough restaurant and while the menu may seem pricey you get amazing value considering the attention to detail, quality of cooking etc. Also the wine list is pretty good value. (Bottle of champagne €50 - it was a birthday!)
